Priests had used the level 60 buff reagents (Sacred Candles) for the spells Prayer of Fortitude(rank 2), Prayer of Spirit(rank 1), Prayer of Shadow Protection(rank 1) and all the level 70 ranks of said spells, despite an entire 10 level difference in the spells' effective levels. The counter-example, Druids, had entirely new and more expensive reagents for the level 70 ranks of their buffs.

In Wrath of the Lich King Priests have at last gotten their comeupance, new candles; which, based on the selling price, appear to be twice as expensive.

Goodbye Sacred Candles, you had a good run.

And Kuram (Poster above) is correct. Prayer of Shadow Protection (Rank 3) only buffs a party at a time.

This is correct and very annoying. Make sure you have plenty before you leave Northrend.

Priests are not loved by blizzard.

Mages at 80 use Arcane Powder, which is half the cost, stacks to 100, and is purchasable from any reagent vendor. They also only use them for Ritual of Refreshment and Arcane Brilliance.

Priests pay twice as much, can't buy them everywhere, they only stack to 20, and they are used in 3 spells; Prayer of Fortitude, Prayer of Spirit and Prayer of Shadow Protection.

You would think that mages had a harder time farming gold to pay for them, or had to carry more alternate kit and consumables per raid; but in fact it is the opposite of this.

These should stack in 100s. I always buy 40 (for lack of bag space) when I'm near a vendor, but they always seem to run out...

If you find that suddenly at 80 you still need sacred candles it is due to a bug with priest bars not updating with highest ranks. Especially in shadow mode you will have to update your spells manually. :(

I am a level 72 priest, therefore I still use sacred candles to give out buffs, however when I open the reagent window it asks if I want to restock Devout Candles (Not sure if this is an addon or not) and I often find myself clicking yes by accident and buying 60 devout candles automatically.

All I have to say is "DAMN YOU JEEVES FOR SCAMMING ME!"

It appears devout candles have been rendered obsolete in the 4.01 patch. The group target versions of Power Word: Fortitude and Shadow Protection have been merged with their individual target counterparts while the Divine Spirit versions have been removed from the game. The reagent requirement was not carried over, and so candles are no longer needed.

It is unclear if they will be added back for Cataclysm, but it appears doubtful as there is no new version of this spell to train.
