While described as a black war bear it seems to be more of a shade of dark purple. Still a nice mount. Odd thing is the bear is slightly larger than other identical black bears if the rider is a gnome.

My guild joined up with another guild on our server to do all 4 cities on the same night. Had no trouble until we went for our final city of the night which was Thunder Bluff and found a good number of horde players waiting for us which caused us to wipe. No surprise after doing the first 3 cities in the same night that they knew where we were going. We simply waited 45 minutes before returning to do that one when the horde players had left.

The fights themselves are not difficult as long as you strike fast before players from your opposing faction can mount a defense. Key is forming your raid in an area where it is unlikely to be discovered such as Mudsprocket for Thunder Bluff or Southshore for Undercity.. Ride in fast and down the boss fast. It only takes about 10 players from the opposition to make your job almost impossible so moving in and killing the boss quickly is the key.

pug'd it last night. 1:00-4:00 servertime. There were two different raids of 30-40 people both doing the leaders so while respawns took a couple of hours, both raids got the achievements! Only reisistance was in undercity but the amount of aoe meant they got steamrollered. Met at inconspicuous places so as not to draw attention and all fights were a total joke.

For Horde who are attempting to do this, you can do it in the order below

1) Go to Auberdine and meet up
2) Take ship to exodar and kill
3) Take ship back to auberdine and then to darnasus > kill
4) Ship back to auberdine and then take the ship to Stormwind harbour.
5) Note that you probably have about 5 minutes before allies start storming in.
6) Kill and take tram to IF for the last kill.

Be careful in IF though, the boss has some aoe that hits melee pretty hard.

A few guilds got the Alliance version first on Undermine. Now raids between cities are quite often... I see it at least once a weak, someone getting 'Killed in Quel'thalas' or : Stormwind is under attack! popping up...

i can assure you that if you have a 40 man raid if any members of the horde (im draenei) pop up they get nuked by all teh multitarget abbilities from wariors, paladins etc etc, only real problem we had was with sylv cause she kept dissapearing and poppin up somewhere else wich made it a long and tiresome fight, nice achievement and not to hard for 40 man raids GL for all who havent done it yet :)

Also, I've found that this mount is NOT on the global cooldown like other mounts.

Is this bear bugged or something? I'm pressing space bar when standing still and he does nothing, like roaring or something, of it has no effect on him? can someone confirm plz?

The black war bear and the armored brown bear are not on the global cd but the white polar bear is.

The albino drake is not on the global cd but the red drake is.

The ice mamoth from SoH rep is also not on the global cd but I don't have another mammoth to compare.

They DO have a mount special, but it's broken.

Any mount with a "new model" (new as in Lich king, the netherdrakes still works) have had their mount special command broken with 3.0.8.

When your mount is doing a special idol animation (stretching or looking in a certain direction) type in "/mountspecial" and you'll see the mount quickly flip back to it's default posistion, skipping the animation.

I can confirm the bears had a /mountspecial animation pre 3.0.8, I used it often.

As a side note, hiting the spacebar on a ground mount while standing still is the same as using /mountspecial .

This ofcause is the alliance version of the mount

The horde and alliance versions of this mount varies.

The Horde version has brown armor with turquoise gems. The eyes also have a turquoise glow.

The Alliance version has blue armor with purple gems. The eyes have a purple glow.

The fur on the horde version also seem a bit lighter than the alliance version.

This is another one of those achievements that I think should be given as a Feat of Strength for those that did it pre-Cataclysm. Not any extra bear or anything, just a FoS saying we killed Thrall. In the Horde version, say we defeated the.. um... the original Ironforge leader.

The other examples are Stockades and Deadmines. I had the achievement saying I'd killed Hogger and Cookie for the longest time... even though I hadn't. I defeated Bazil Thredd and Edwin VanCleef (ok, technically i defeated Cookie back in the day, but he wasn't the end boss).

No idea why but when my alliance alt zoned into an instance, the achviement tripped up that my horde main long got and gave me the bear. Same happened with the vendor mamoth so they might be allowing them through finally. If it's just a weird glitch I'm not complaining! :)

This achievement has been updated for BFA and only require 3 leader kills. Undercity and Darnassas has been removed because of their destruction.

In order to get the Black War Bear mount, one must kill all of the leaders of the opposing faction. There is a leader in the three main cities for each opposing faction.

If you are Alliance, you must kill...
