It seems like this fountain is a fan of reverse pschycology. Ask it to do something good for you, and you end up getting screwed over or screwing somebody over. But, if you ask to not be something good, like to not be a king because he won't be a good one, you end up being the king of the most powerful Alliance city.

This may be a very old coin, since it was cast into the fountain when Magni was still a prince. Seeing how he's now a king, and Thrall says his years are winding down, it could be easily a hundred or so years old (dwarves seem to reach a venerable (approx. age 70 to humans) age at 250 years of age).

When knowledge of the Cataclysm reaches him, Magni attempts a ritual in Old Ironforge and asks the elements of Ironforge for protection against it, giving himself as a sacrifice. As a result, he turns to stone, leaving Ironforge without a ruler. In his place, his brother Muradin, Kurdran Wildhammer, and his daughter, Moira - now styled Moira Thaurissan and representing the Dark Iron clan - created a council of leaders to rule Ironforge. His ritual also explains dwarf shamans.

So not only does he become king..but his brothers do infact out live him ;-;
