If you 'use' the gold coins from the fountain (throw it back in), you get a buff which makes you lucky for 2 mins. While you are lucky you get to fish up more coins. This helps for the achievement and you still get credit for the gold coin even tho it's no longer in your inventory.

I fished up this coin today, but kept getting the message "you can't loot that item now" when I tried to loot it. I had bag space and had been fishing up all kinds of things successfully.

Similar to genies, it is actually very specific requests that become the worst, all wishes backfire.

Unspecific backfires within minutes. AKA wishing for an omlette alone and you probably won't get it warm or on a plate, or it will be horrible tasting.

Specific requests take longer to backfire but eventually turn to be the really bad ones to backfire, such as wishing for world power and not explaining you want no one to have thoughts to assassinate you, because you will most likely be assassinated.

Super specific requests down to the last key point usually work out for the longest time, such as wishing for immortality and requesting that no force could ever remove it and you could not die although it is the worst one to backfire because had you wished for superior immortality where no matter what it can't be taken away from you and you will NEVER die, it's gonna suck when someone throws you into a volcano.
