As of build 8926:
This glyph functions by adding an additional two ticks of the "middle" damage tick of CoA - that is, the 8.3% of total damage ticks - to the start of the curse. Interestingly, this means that two 8.3% ticks come before the four 4.2% ticks.

this glyph also would have use for destro locks who specced for fire and brimstone, as adding the extra 2 chances for the proc is nice, and the extra 4 sec u have b4 u need to reapply means u can get at least another cast in b4 reapplying it
and since most pvp is done as aff, there will b benefit there as well

: The old Glyph added two ticks onto the beginning of the spell that did not contribute to the ramping up of the damage, it didn't actually increase your DPS at all, just made you not have to cast it as often.
The new ticks should contribute to the extra damage now, I don't have any numbers for how much of a DPS increase this will be compared to the other glyphs, so it still might not be desirable, but it as least an increase now.

This glyph is a decent CoA DPS increase for boss fights.
Here's my math (feel free to ridicule me for any errors):
For the sake of simplicity I assumed perfect refreshing. Any early refreshing would work against the glyph, while any constant delay between consecutive CoAs would make the glyph more effective.
- For every 6 full curse durations with this glyph you would have 7 full durations without.
- Each glyphed CoA cycle does 1.3328 times the damage of a non-glyphed cycle.
Thus the net benefit of the glyph over 6 glyhped cycles is given by:
(1.3328)(6) - (1)(7)
= 0.9968
Divided by 6, that is a 16.613 (repeating, of course)%
effective
improvement over the non-glyphed CoA per cycle.

.

Testing supports that we can model CoA as:

The average DPS from a normal CoA is then:

e.g.
average tick
/2 as expected.
The average DPS from a glyphed CoA is:

DPS increase is a constant:
Glyphed DPS-Normal DPS
=(A/2+C/7)-A/2=C/7
.
Using
C=98
we get that glyphing for CoA increases the CoA DPS by 14.
The other benefit from the glyph is getting one free GCD(1 or 1.5sec depending on talents) every 168seconds.
Summary
This glyph's effect is ~15 more DPS on CoA and one extra second every 168seconds. I.e the glyph does NOT scale with spellpower(Except that extra 168seconds GCD) and always increases your DPS by ~15 if you always have CoA up on one target.

Seems to be a toss-up for the number 3 Prime slot glyph for Affliction PVE,between this one and Glyph of Unstable Affliction.
While on paper this one should yeld higher DPS,consider the fact that on long,single target raid fights Bane of Doom is superior even to the glyphed Bane of Agony.

Now all those Blood Elves can pretend to be Kael'thas :)
Personally, I've always wanted to have those Verdant Spheres because they look damn amazing. Now it seems it's come true ^^

This glyph became "Glyph of Verdant Spheres" since patch 5.0.4.
If it is not clear enough, the glyph is simply for cosmetic. It does not affect the actual function of Soul Shards or Burning Embers at all. It just makes them have different look.
And if you are fancying something like Kael'thus' verdant spheres that orbit around the body, you can save you gold. The glyph changes the soul shard purple crystals to green spheres but the spheres only sit on your head and shoulders like the screenshot we have here. They won't orbit around you.

Are burning embers visible on your character? I glyphed this as soon as the patch went live and when I took it off to see if the embers were visible I got nothing. Now I know soul shards are visible and I figured the embers were too. Am I glitching and unable to see them or are they just not visible?

For transmoggers, I recommend this glyph combined with

. It looks like you've got two extra spheres, and thus makes you at least twice as cool as other warlocks.

For some reason it bothers me that the "flame effect" of the Verdant Spheres burn, not upwards as you'd expect from a sort of flame, but rather backwards - as though it were green jet-engines hovering around the toon.

these seem to be pretty hard to notice if your destruction and have the green fire quest done. it just blends in with the fire that you glow with while having embers.
