Unless this CD is reduced or alternative methods of acquiring titansteel bars are put in (badges etc), any chance of making a decent profit from the motorcycles have just gone down the drain.

I've been looking across the servers myself and friends play on and it seems that the going rate for a CD is around 50g, Making gathering these quite expensive for the high leveled blacksmithers.
Edit: This is as of November 22, 2008.

They are about 350-500 on my server. Everytime I see someone offering 50g for a cooldown, I laugh a little on the inside. These bars are going for 350+, the mats are purchasable for less than 75g most of the time. Why would you take 50g to make it for someone else instead of making it for 100g, throwing it on the AH for 350 and making 250g profit?
250g or 50g .. logic wins hands down!

im always in the look for titanium ors but they always seems to be mined already when i get in to the zone so i sended all mats my m8 need "alcemy" so he can transmute me the Titanium bars and i got plenty of mats since i been farming like hell to get titanium >_<
sure i get to wait on both his and my own cd for melting them to titansteel but its beats the hard fight over titanium nods

Every market is different...What the market is on your server could be completely different from what the market on another server...I'm not sure how they come up with the Figures, If by taking the average or some other method but I doubt it would be a fast enough or easy enough proccess ( TIme Wise) That it could be done regularly

Pretty much useless if you raid. You can get similar or better quality items from raiding with much less effort, while actually having fun. Mining & grinding mats is very boring!

On mine server you can't profit either, by buying the mats and selling the Titansteel Bar. It is more profitable to sell the CD with a price of 50g. So compare the prices of the mats and the titansteel bar on your server before just assuming that titansteel bar will sell higher than the CD.

prices are already starting to plummet i my server. Whereas it used to be ~200g, it's not being undercut to as low as 150g. It's a matter of time till CD selling and bar selling is going to catch up to be about the same.

Yea, it is true on my server (

i feel sorry for all you guys who have it at such a low price however it doesn't make any seance to me. even when the price tries to drop, demand is so high i goes back up to 250-300. I can only assume that we have an enormously high amount of blacksmiths. the average price (and seems to be steady at) 250 give or take 5g on perenolde server.

Titansteel was put into the game to create gear,
not make people money.
Isn't that the point? WOW economy is based off supply and demand. Yes ALTs play a part but selling ore or other consumable items is an integral part of the game and gives the gatherers out there justification on picking that profession. The cooldown just limits the supply so that people can make money with the high end materials they produce.

They aren't trying to get you to buy gold, but stop the people on the other end of the spectrum.
Toward the end of TBC people were actually hitting the hard cap for gold on some servers. That is they had nothing else to spend money on so it just kept building up till the game couldn't add any more. It hit the limit the code allowed under how Blizzard coded gold.
Items like the Mechano-hog and the artificial cool-downs on these items are meant to slow down those who don't need to buy gold, those who are so bloody gifted at getting gold you have to wonder if they didn't accidentally roll a tall leperchaun instead of an Elf.
Dailies on the other hand were added to help those who are tempted to buy gold. Those with bad luck at earning gold.
The problem is similiar to a real life fluke incident. The Sesame Street effect.
Sesame Street was meant to reduce the "knowledge gap" between kids in poor families and those in better off families as the better off families either had the money for better education or placed more importance on education. It was believes Sesame Street would give the poor children a boost to be closer to the better off children with free television education before going to school.
The problem is the gap began to widen after Sesame Street began airing. Why? The kids in the better off families were also watching Sesame Street. It increased the knowledge of both groups, but the gap widened because the better off kids were getting more out of it. It indirectly did the exact opposite of what was intended.
Dailies are also being done by those blessed with gold. So Blizzard needs more expensive gold sinks to slow them down so they can't buy out the entire AH for laughs. However, they add more dailies to help out everyone else out. Which increases the money of those Blessed-with-gold, who need more impediments....
So it isn't Blizzard is trying to force people to buy gold. It is the exact opposite. They are trying to control inflation of the rich, but induce inflation for the poor. Mechano-hog is a luxury item designed around wealth redistribution.

Nah demand is independant, you just don't notice the demand when the supply is high (:
Both of them are independant of the other, but the effect of one relies on the other. Like how theres no effect if you increase demand if the supply then increases by the same amount.
But saying that, they can still affect each other, since if something is in low demand, more people will buy it since it's cheap :P
Ah, the complexities of a supply and demand market ;]
Edit: Missed a comma :P
I would probably kill myself if I saw your grade in Economics class... Supply and demand are always dependent on each other.
High
Supply
means that the sellers are going to be trying to sell all of their crap; to do this, they're going to reduce their prices. Since the prices dropped, buyers are going to be able to get what they need and they won't need to buy it anymore, which will cause the
Demand
to decrease.
Conversely, low
Supply
is going to make it harder to get the stuff; since there's less of it, people are willing to pay more in order to get what they want, which is going to cause prices to rise. As prices rise,
Demand
for the hard-to-get stuff is going to rise as well.
If Blizzard made it easier to obtain Titansteel, the people trying to sell it aren't going to be getting
more
money, they're going to be getting
less
, since the
Supply
would go up (which would also bring the
Demand
down).

Groundlord, before you go putting other people down make sure you know what you are talking about first. Supply and Demand are not dependent on each other. They are only related to each other through price.
High Supply means that the sellers are going to be trying to sell all of their crap; to do this, they're going to reduce their prices. Since the prices dropped, buyers are going to be able to get what they need and they won't need to buy it anymore, which will cause the Demand to decrease.
Conversely, low Supply is going to make it harder to get the stuff; since there's less of it, people are willing to pay more in order to get what they want, which is going to cause prices to rise. As prices rise, Demand for the hard-to-get stuff is going to rise as well.
If Blizzard made it easier to obtain Titansteel, the people trying to sell it aren't going to be getting more money, they're going to be getting less, since the Supply would go up (which would also bring the Demand down).
If supply was to increase which may cause a decrease in price then you would see more people will to purchase at that lower price leading to greater demand, not less as you state.
If there was a decrease in supply this may cause an increase in the price but you would also have less people willing to buy at that higher price which would actually cause a decrease in the demand.
EDIT: You really should read up on supply and demand on the wiki:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supply_and_demand
.
Here is just a small excerpt: "The demand curve is almost always represented as downwards-sloping, meaning that as price decreases, consumers will buy more of the good."

Both of which can be achieved if you increase the cooldown. :)
Increasing the cooldown will only decrease the supply. This may in turn cause an increase in price leading to a decrease in demand. Not as many people are willing buy it at 350g as there are at 95g.
To increase demand Blizzard would need to add into the game more items which required Titanseel bars to create (or increase the number of bars required to create existing items). The demand therefore is dependent on the demand of the items created using Titansteel bars, not the cooldown.
If there was nothing to use Titansteel bars for (or nobody wanted what you could create with them) then demand would be virtually zero and no matter how much they increase or decrease the supply (cooldown) they would still be useless.

Don't you think 1 (2 when specialized) cloth per 4 days is a little long?
Plus the cloth is used for things that a LOT of people would use (Bags, armor that pretty much ALL casters would use); metal, on the other hand, is kinda useless to anyone other than Plate-wearers and the people who want the weapons and "toys" that you make with it.

a low supply does NOT automatically make the demand go up, a low supply only means that those who have can sell their supply at what price they want. If a lot of people buy the supply then the demand goes up telling the sellers to increase prices

I suggest players keep these for 3.2
The price of Titanium Ores and Bars have gone way up since the announcement of prospecting the ores.
When the patch goes live these Bars will be worth a lot. It will be easier to obtain runed orbs which gives moderate players access to the nice Uldar BS gear in which requires Titansteel bars to craft. Also miners will be more likely to get the ores prospected rather then make Bars (epic gems and powder for recipe's).
Pre patch 3.2 announcement I always made Bars as soon as i got ores. So I have tones of Titanium bars in my bank.
For me i still make 1 titansteel bar a day and should have a lot for 3.2

Does anyone have an idea about how much Titansteel will cost with the removed cooldown in 3.3.3?
Or I suppose, has anyone put some real thought into it? Will more people be switching to

in 3.3.3?

Hard to find titanium and get the eternal fire with people farming places like Sholazar.
The cooldown gives u time to find the titanium and fire, though...

patch 3.3.3 will certainly shake the economy of all servers up, because, due to the 20hr cooldown, it can be extremely difficult to obtain large numbers of these barsto make certain items, which are rather expensive because of the cooldown on titansteel. now, when they remove the cooldown, the supply will take a jump, destroying the value of many things. however, at the same time, blizz will be greatly
increacing
the demand, and as such the value of titanium ore and bars, and crystallized earth, shadow, and fire, so all in all the economy of the servers will take a shift, but the overall value of titansteel should remain similar, if not actually increacing, but it will take some time for people to realize this.

Just a heads up for some people who might be confused, if you still have your Titansteel Smelt on cooldown from the previous day (the day before the patch), you must still wait for it to come off cooldown before you can freely smelt Titansteel all you want.

If your a miner farming to make titansteel the fastest way is to find an alchemist to transmute 8 saronite bars into titanium bars since you get so many while farming titanium veins.

As at 4.3.2, there is no longer a cool down on the smelting of Titansteel Bars. These are currently selling for 500g each on my server so still an excellent money maker if you are willing to spend the time farming.

if you have a miner, you can get enough mats in one hour in Wintergrasp to make 5 or 6 titansteel bars if you mine in the morning when no one else is around. I got 2 bars from the titanium and had 88 saronite bars transmuted into titanium. Just fly the edge of the mountains where is meets the flat part

In case you're making a Jeeves like me or just need general idea of how to obtain some of these bad boys here you go:
If you go with saronite to transmute the titanium bars:
2 saronite ore = 1 saronite bar (smelted)
8 saronite bars = 1 titanium bar (x-muted)
thus : 16 saronite ore = 1 titanium bar
If you're not going with saronite but instead going the old fashioned way:
obviously 2 titanium ore = 1 bar
so you'll either need -
48 saronite ores
1 eternal fire
1 eternal shadow
1 eternal earth
OR
6 titanium ore
1 eternal fire
1 eternal shadow
1 eternal earth
Side note, 1 frozen orb = 1 eternal (so if you don't feel like farming wintergrasp, or this is cheaper on your server's AH)

Here's the New Deal in BFA: If you need mining training for TBC/ Outland, go find a trainer there, same with WOLTK/Northrend for say, Titanium or Titansteel, which is where I had a hole in my training. Wowhead says different people in Orgrimmar will teach it, ie Makara, but he only teaches Classic Mining and Cataclysm, now. Good luck and happy trainer hunting. The
Mining home page
has accurate lists of who and where for what training.

40 to 48 Saronite ore per Titansteel Bar.
Smelt 2 ore into 1 bar on a miner.
Transmute 8 saronite bars into 1 titanium bar on an alchemist. This has a 20% proc chance if you're a transmute master, so it's 6.67 saronite/titanium on avg.
Smelt 3 titanium with fire+earth+shadow.
Can get about 500-600 saronite per hour flying around wintergrasp, so 10-15 titansteel bars per hour if you're farming em up
