This is one of the 'better' itemized pieces for a ret paladin. Sure it has some agility which doesn't benefit our spell-crit rating but at least it doesn't waste ivalue on haste.

I'm not saying "omg ret gloves" - I'm just saying the stats aren't botched like other gloves (for those of you down-rating me)

Thes are the best plate dps pre naxx, and they are also much better than the warrior tier 7 piece. Without any buffs, plate dps get 2ap from 1 str, so therfore, you get 134 ap from these gloves. Also they give you 38 hit, giving you 1.16 of the 8% needed (for warriors atleast). They also give you a decent amount of agility. I really hate to see intellect as a warrior, it honestly is such a wasted stat on us, though the socket is nice. Personally I would put a red gem (+16str anyone?) in to get the socket bonus but, many plate dps need the blue for another gem (forget the name and dont know how to use links).

Oddly, the only epic in WOTLK with Strength and Agil -- a non-ideal itemization for all plate specs. The rest are all iLevel 200 blues:

Were these meant to be gateway plate that could be used for ret or prot in a pinch?

This has the same model as Bloodbane's Gauntlets of Command, which is one of the blue Death Knight starting zone items. It's good for people that want to look like Death Knights without actually making one, or for those living on RP realms, it makes you a better Death Knight while still looking the same as a level 58 one.
