My thoughts are that Blizz seems to be looking to make a piece of gear be applicable for more than one role. Look at all the new 2.3 tank gear with spell damage on it. No INT, nothing but excellent tank stats, and then either spell damage or healing spell bonuses. Warrior tanks will have no use for that but Pally tanks will love it. It's all socketed so they can fill the sockets with whatever stats a pally tank would need. I'm a warrior tank and I am definitely saving up for that gear, healing bonus or not.

I believe the spelldamage bonus is there since blizz are trying to give healers "free spelldamage". Granted they could have put in +6 healing instead and thus given the same spelldamage instead of what is now effectively 2 spell damage and healing but that is my noob guess as to why the bonus is as it is.

I dont personally rate crit to be a very high priority on my gear but I wont whine if it happens to be there on otherwise very nice bracers (which these are in my opinion).

I am just worried about the fact that the whole +healing gives +spelldamage may be abused in a way that Blizzard didn't intend it to. A shadow priest would make quite good use of these in for example PvP as they can dps and heal depending on the situation, but on the other side, it wouldn't surprise me if some dps casters went for +healing items that are pretty decent in the spelldamage department too; like the healer trinket dropping from Illidan.

I currently have http://www.wowhead.com/?item=28511 and I might go with these instead if only the socket bonus was more useful. Its almost as if they want to suggest to not use a yellow gem (like royal nightseye for example).

Compare to Bands of the Benevolent from Heroic Sethekk (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=29249):

These bracers have:
+9 healing
+17 spell crit

But lose:
6 stamina
3 intellect
2 spirit

Obviously the socket will give them higher stats. A spell damage socket bonus counts as both damage and healing. Depending on whether you choose a Dazzling Talasite or a Luminous Noble Topaz for the socket, you get 4 more intellect and either 2 mp5 or 9 healing, plus the 5 damage/healing. Overall, I'd definitely call these bracers better, but I'm not sure if they're worth 35 badges if you already have epic bracers.

Same for the Bands of Indwelling, as they are the same +healing as the Bands of the Benevolent, except it'd be -10 stamina, -1 intellect, -4 spirit.

If you just have not been lucky enough to find better from a drop, mages could also benefit from this. Together with a +spell crit/+spell dmg gem this will make for a fair dmg and pretty ok stats bracers. If you have the badges (only 35) and still lack good bracers ... why not? Don't let the +healing fool you, it has +dmg as well. It will last at least until the bracers from Al'ar in TK drop for you.

Well These bracers Own http://www.wowhead.com/?item=29183 the one from CoT rep, Why you ask because if you get http://www.wowhead.com/?item=24060 it gives 9 healing and 4int. I'm sure you'll argue to get the 2mp5 instead but why waste the time. As a priest talented correctly with spirit you get 1mp5 per 1.6 spirit and 35% healing from spirit which the http://www.wowhead.com/?item=29183 bracers Lack. this resulting in 64 healing +2 more healing for socket bonus plus the bonus from spirit this gives a grand total of 71.6 healing where as the other bracers is only 64, Also find me a pre ssc/tk bracer with mp5 on it =) speaking of mp5 this item can give up to 10mp5 as a preist =) Well worth the investment.

Actually now with the new updates with spirit and priest healing buffs you can get 1.6 spirit = 1mp5 with talents and a plus 35% more healing on the spirit bonus.

These items dont work directly on spirit but they work on the mana regen created from spirit. thus more spirit = more mana regen from spirit. must just be that my spirit is high enough that it shows 1.6spirit =1mp5 on my add on.

In theory, direct regeneration is preferable over spirit-based regen, as it is not subject to the 5 second rule. If for example a priest could give away 8 spirit, and gain 5 mana/5, the latter would give the same regen as the spirit at all times, and thus be better (disregarding HP regen). The factor where Spi and mana/5 give the same base amount of regen (outside the 5 second rule) is 1.6 spi for 1 mana/5 for priests and mages, and 2 spi for all others.

Saving up for these bracers. The spell crit on them is a bit useless, but could be handy during spam healing in heroics. Personaly I'm going to ignore the socket bonus and put this gem in http://www.wowhead.com/?item=30603 .
(dropped in heroic slave pens a few days back.)

with the healing enchant on bracers (+30 healing), gem (+11 healing) and the spirit to healing bonus (1/4 healing per spirit) this would give the bracers about 100 +healing
they also give 12mp5 (+10 from spirit and +2 from gem) when outside the 5 sec rule (in case of priests)
and 5mp5 while casting (with 30% regen talent and +2 from gem)

I'm upgrading from http://www.wowhead.com/?item=28174 with a +13 healing gem
so it's definitly worth it

Really just an epic fail on blizzards part. The general idiocy of having crit on cloth healing bracers has already been pointed out and the socket bonus is meaningless. The only good reason for a yellow socket would be matching gems for a meta you shouldn't be using anyway.

These bracers should outshine the timewalker bracers. They have an itemlevel of 128 and timewalker are 105. It's like comparing Kara loot to BT loot and the fact that people are even comparing them should give you an idea how bad they are.

Save your badges for something else (if you can find anything useful for a holypriest.. )

My guess is they somehow messed up the equips on this and the paladin bracers. Probably meant for http://www.wowhead.com/?item=33520 to have spell crit and these to have the mp5.

In 2.4, the socket bonus on these bracers appears to be +2 spell damage only, with no bonus to healing. Could someone confirm that this is not just a tooltip error and that there is, in fact, no socket bonus to healing? Wowhead is the only site I have found that indicates that the socket bonus provides a bonus to healing in addition to the spell damage bonus.

Edit: The tooltip was corrected in 2.4.2 and now correctly shows the socket bonus as +2 spell damage and healing.

All spell damage effects, to my knowledge, also include +healing. I've never seen a +spell damage only effect (other than gems).

I don't think they would've removed the socket bonus, clearly healing bracers; maybe just a tooltip error.

This item is crazy stupid. Spell crit healing items are for paladins so therefore this would make sense as plate but not as cloth. Change this please, Blizzard.

These could also be an alternative to the tailored (BoE) Swiftheal Wraps for a spellhaste set by adding a Quick Lionseye.

+57 Healing

Compared to the Swiftheal Wraps (without adjusting the added heal from spirit and spell crit)
-12 Sta
-5 Int
- 18 Spell haste rating

+ 17 Spell critical strike rating

Of course not as good as the Swiftheal Wraps but cheaper and items with both mana regen and haste are rare.
