The new highest level cloth used in Wrath of the Lich King

Interestingly, the "bandage vendor cap" for Frostweave Cloth appears to be 15s, just like it was for Netherweave bandages. Perhaps there will finally be a top-level cloth whose best use isn't vendoring!
(This is unlikely.)

Just a quick FYI for all First Aiders out there: Once you set foot in northrend and this Frostweave cloth starts to drop, you can make:
-
"Frostweave Bandage"
: Heals 4760 damage over 8 sec; Requires 350 First Aid to use.
Then you will be able to make:
-
"Heavy Frostweave Bandage"
: Heals 5480 damage over 8 sec; Requires 400 First Aid to use.
PS: Rate up if this was usefull in any way whatsoever.
EDIT: As the reply to this post states, dense and purified frostweave bandage were removed before live.

Guessing from earlier experiences with Runecloth in vanilla-WoW, and netherweave in TBC. Tailors are gonna need a mountain load of this stuff.
Don't be surprised if you suddenly need 5000 Frostweave Cloth to get your tailoring maxed out.
A little tip. Kill humanoids whenever you can, and do not throw away a single piece of cloth.

For aoe classes that can pull 5 up to 24 mobs, the best spot to grind frostweave is in Icecrown.

Farming at Kaskala in Borean Tundra, taking down the spawns on the western most of the two ships I was able to gather 5 stacks in an hour (100 pieces of cloth). I've tried this late at night, in the morning, and again mid afternoon and found no one else there on my server, though your mileage may vary.

Frostweave cloth is by far the hardest cloth to get in the game. Hunting various level 78-80 humanoids mobs for hours and hours each day (10k+ kills on each kind). Not sure why its this bad. If you look at all other kinds of cloth its not that uncommon to get a piece per mob. When it comes to frostweave you can go through 10 mobs with ease until you get a cloth.

Drops a lot of frostweave, at least it does for me. ( Tailor )
Fast spawn rate and there very tight together, unlike Solozar basin mobs that are mostly 30 yards apart from each other.
I'd pick this spot to farm frostweave over any other.
Best is to do it after the daily
Retest Now
Which gives you a nice 2 hour Icecrown buff and used with
Reading the Bones
buffs, it will give you something extra :)
Usually farm there for 1-2 hours with a average of 200 cloths per hour.

This is easily farmed from Icecrown in the areas where you do the Ebon Blade dailies. These sell on the AH for between 19-30g depending on time of day, supply, and server. Easy gold. Storm Peaks also has a fairly high drop rate among humanoids but as I have spent more time in Icecrown I am more familiar with the drop rates there.

these don't vendor well as netherweaves did... Heavy forst bandages are only 5g a stack, but the good thing is they sell on AH very well. I can sell theses at 15g a stack pretty easily w/o auction cancelling on me... possibly even more. And for the amount of work you put into getting them, its a pretty good rate.

I'm seeing a lot of useless comments and replies around here, mostly about bandages and patch notes and such, as a very geared mage with tailoring and enchanting, farming Frostweave Cloth is now an adventure with the ever changing drop rates. I'll let you in on the best places to farm, for AOE grinding.
Icecrown - 50, 34 (fast respawns, but only 1 cloth per mob after patch)
Zul'Drak - In front of Argent Stand, guards can help

Even though the drop rates have been severely nerfed, I still find 66, 51 in scholazar the best place to farm frostweave. I was getting around 7 stacks an hour killing mobs singularly, ocasionally AOE'ing them, but overall still the best place even after the nerf.

I went to the scholazar basin earlier tonight and in 45 min i got 42 cloth and 110g from loot and vending. I am an 80 druid and I was aoeing 4 to 5 mobs at a time. The drop rate that I was getting was between 20-25% Still a little faster than the drop rate I was getting in storm peaks. Of course in storm peakes i was farming relics of ulduar.

First of all, First Aid in Northrend is a hideous joke by blizzard to torture tailors. All my mates are hording the stuff to get the damned achievement.
On a more practical note, I saw that the Cult of the Damned mobs in Icecrown seem to have the highest drop frequency. Where though, would you all say is the best and most efficient place to farm Frostweave?

wpbsmoka
Just farmed Scholazar mobs and in 1 hr time I got 10+ stacks(200+ cloth). Spawn rate was fast, so just stay on your toes and you'll be alright. Of course there were numerous green and grey items, thick fur scraps(10g a stack), potions, scrolls etc.... All said and done, it's a very profitable spot to farm.

Post 3.1, the Bonesythe in Scholozar still drop cloth at a decent rate. Gained 120 cloth in just under an hour, plus 3 greens, a number of greys and about 20 gold in fur scrap.
-edit-
That is with 450 Tailoring and Northern Cloth Scavenging, by the way. Non-tailors will find the cloth more scarce.

I read over all the locations that were given by tailors and non-tailors and I have to say there is an issue no one has properly addressed.
http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=59390
Northern Cloth Scavenging increases the amount of cloth dropped by HUMANOID targets.
A lot of the locations listed previously contain high amounts of undead targets. The Northern Cloth Scavenging does not apply to these targets.
How do I know?
It all goes back to the "WTF WHYFOR ME NO SHACKLE UNDEAD IN PVP?111oneONE1?" argument.
Blizzard doesn't classify undead mobs as humanoids. They drop cloth because they have it on their loot table and that's all.
The reason you're finding a high return of cloth in Sholazar Basin from the undead mobs because they are concentrated in a specific area (especially the Mosswalker Village SE of the Avalanche) with a pretty decent respawn rate. The reason being is the quests that run adjacent to these areas have affected the respawn rates of undead here. I can't recall the name of the quest but it requires you to "mount" (durty) a miniTitan and kill 200 undead and 3 named elites.
(This is the location of the village for you non-tailors out there. I got about 1 frostweave cloth per mob while aoeing.
http://www.wowhead.com/?maps=3711:746483764483738518744530755533765530770514755500

I'll update this once I've had more time to figure out the best ratio of time/frostweave cloth/drops/blah blah/coffee/hot pockets.

by far the best, for me at least, was storm peaks. those flying witches in the frozen over ravine just below the Temple of Storms gave me good results. a few even gave me X4 Frostweave Cloth. in an hour i got a little over 3 stacks of it. i also received the Glyph Book of Mastery as a drop. i was stoked.

After having read some of the comments on here, I decided that I should farm for frostweave in Sholazar Basin. I started right in front of the Avatar of Freya, and worked my way around. I started to the right, and most mobs seemed to have dropped 1-2 frostweave a piece. It stopped after about 10-13 kills, and that was after having gone up the landscape. From my observations, I can see that as you progress up the lost lands (the sub-area where I farmed), you'll see less and less frostweave. After having figured this out, I headed back down to the avatar's pool-area. I farmed there for about 15 minutes, and most of the bonescythe undead seemed to drop 1 frostweave at a drop rate of about 50%.
Having spent 30 minutes farming around the avatar's pool area and the lost lands, I received a total of 80 frostweave, totaling to 4 stacks. Not bad, but I'm sure that there's a better farming spot.
FYI- I have the northern scavenging ability. Without it, it seems like no frostweave would drop at all.

There must be- where do people go when this area is occupied?
Or perhaps I'm just doing this wrong. Do I have to have an AoE-specific spec or something? Help.

Farming this stuff is a major pain if you're not a tailor. Your best bet is Sholazar like the others have said. I just spent about 40 minutes there and got a little over 2 stacks. If you're only looking for this for First Aid, it might be easier to just buy it off the AH. Either that, or go do some instances and ask nicely if you can have the cloth.

The best spot, like many other materials, is a place before phasing. So if you've done the Riders of Unholy/Blood/Frost quest line, this will be of no use to you. The Initiates/Understudies in front of each Rider's area have a high drop rate and fast respawn.
However, if you've done
Generosity Abounds
,
Matchmaker
, and
Stunning View
, and turned them in, the area phases upon return and the initiates/understudies are no longer there.
Even if the drop rate gets nerfed at some point, it will still be a viable farming spot, as it can only be farmed by people who have not quested through Icecrown yet. This is the same as other such materials as
Nerubian Chitin
at the Argent Vanguard -before- doing
The Last Line of Defense
, and
Eternal Fire
at Fjorn's Anvil in Storm Peaks -before- turning in
Mending Fences
and
The Refiner's Fire
.

I have found the best spot to farm this (S. Priest on a very low population PvP server) is in and around Onslaught Harbor. As a tailor I pick up stack after stack of this, as well as many greens and trash items that sell for quite a bit (thick fur scraps!). There is a cave beneath the harbor that is filled with easily soloable elite mobs (I avoid the uber elite dude at the very end of the cave) that also drop cloth and up to a gold in cash! I was getting 6 pieces per guy sometimes, with northrend cloth scavenging.
I've tried many places, but this one works best for me. Hopefully someone else will have good luck here. :D

The best place for farming frostweave cloth is Onslaught Harbour. It's in the NW corner of Icecrown and you have 3 Ebon Blade dailys there. Every time I do my dailys, I find 2 1/2 stacks of cloth in my bags. Dailys take about 10-15 mins to do. So with an hour of
farming
you'll get 10-12 stacks easy.

I'm surprised no one mentioned the Vrykuls in the caves in Brunnhildar Village. Fairly easy to gather up for AoE kills and they're neutral mobs so they won't bother you if you need to sit down to eat/drink. The respawn rate is fairly decent if no one else is there farming them. They also drop Relics of Ulduar to sell on the AH or for personal use.

After exactly 35 minutes of farming, I had over 10 stacks of frostweave, 5 greens, and over 60g worth of picked up money/selling greys (I have the traveler's tundra, so I could sell them all right there as well) along with a couple pots. A great place to gather frostweave if you can handle yourself since they'll be constantly more coming at you.

The mobs in SB still drop it at a fairly high rate (relatively) especially if you're a high level tailor. Was farming on my level 77 demo warlock earlier for about 20minutes and got nearly 70 cloth, as well as 4-5 greens and about 25g. Not that much experience though (around 1.5k-2k with BoA chest/shoulders and WG xp bonus) but still a good spot.

In 20 minutes of farming I got 2 1/2 stacks of frostweave cloth from the Venture Co Camp in Sholazar. As a T9.5 geared shadow priest, I wasn't running out of mobs unless there was someone questing in the area.
Unfortunately, it's one of the first questing "areas" in Sholazar, so there will be some decent competition from time-to-time.

Frostweave cloth drops so much that on most servers, it'll be hard to find buyers for your excess cloth. Note that although the vendor price of this stuff is only 12.5s (2.5g per stack), any tailor can turn 5 into 1 bolt, which is worth 1g to a vendor.
This means that the effective vendor price of Frostweave Cloth is 20s per cloth or 4g per stack.

Converted Hero, plenty of single ones and groups of 6+ as well. They pack a punch but die quickly, drop rate is pretty good. Something to consider if the sholazar area is being farmed, I never see people here, its only attraction would be the scourge killing daily.

TAILORS : if you are a tailor you will have to farm it because it is : every 5 cloth you get 1 bolt but if you get a stack of 20 bolts you can sell them on AH for over 200g, i sold 2 stacks for 250g.
You'll need over 200 frostweave cloth to make some items to level up your tailoring as it is around 11 bolts of frostweave cloth.
The mobs are normaly in icecrown and in most level 80 dungeons it is really easy to farm...

I just farmed 152 stacks in about four hours pounding on the Scavenging Geist (lvl78-79, 12.5k HP). There are bunched together and can easily be herded together for AOE killing. AND they never run out, constantly respawning. Easily a more than 50% drop rate of 1-4 pieces.

There is an area much better than any of these in my opinion. The Converted Heroes found in Icecrown have a fairly high drop rate of frostweave cloth. In addition, they walk around in groups of 7, and since they're the target of a daily quest, they have a very high respawn rate and there are quite a number of them. As a retribution paladin, it's very easy for me to go in, kill a few of these groups, and gather up a single stack of frostweave cloth in five minutes easy.
Hope this helps you all. ^_^
Also, these guys drop Thick Fur Clothing Scraps alot as well, which is great vendor trash. 50 silver a piece, 10g a stack of it to vendors. In addition, the number of mobs you're taking out in a short period also increases the chance of green items dropping, and I can get quite a few to sell in little time at all.

I farm Frostweave off the Undead Minions in Mord'rethar the Death Gate in Icecrown. You need to be able to AoE ~19 mobs at once without dying to their stacking debuff, but once you do that, if you clear the other mobs around the area, you'll only have to fight 5 at once which should be doable for anyone.

Kill the trolls at this location;
http://www.wowhead.com/maps?data=66:585633
They're only level 75/76 so you shouldn't have too much trouble farming them at all as a level 80. They do include casters and ranged attackers so AoE grinding these down isn't an option, but they're too spaced out for that anyway. Still plenty to go around, I did this at about 7 in the evening and only saw one other player over the space of an hour.
About an hour yielded 5 and a bit stacks of Frostweave for me.

Go near Gundrak in Zul'Drak. It has a ton of easy to kill trolls who have good drops if you have the tailoring thing that gives more cloth drops, and it is by FAR the best low-lvl Northrend herb drop area in the game, and also if you follow the northern mountains there are a ton of higher lvl herbs too. They sell decent but the real money is if you have a alt with inscription, then you make a TON of money. The herb drops make any other drop i've seen in the game look pitiful. So it has both of those things in a relatively tiny area. Best gold producer EVAR, IMO

Scourgeholme.
Everything in Scourgeholme drops Frostweave cloth. The Reanimated Crusaders, the Forgotten Depths High Priest and Underkings all drop it. WIth the most dropping off of the Underkings. Usually three per Underking kill.
I'm not sure why this place hasn't hit the top of the drop charts here on wowhead, but I haven't found anywhere better than this to farm Frostweave.
In about 15min of questing, I gather three stacks with the increased drop rate as a tailor.

It seems as though many posters that have mentioned farming the undead in Sholazar are not quit in the right spot. I made this mistake at first too, going for the mobs on the grassy hill near the Avatar of Freya. In fact, you want to be in the water right in front of her and slightly to the left. You should be able to reach quite a few mobs from this spot. Also, once you start attacking, the spawning rate seems to speed up (or additional spawn points are triggered) and the threat you generate will pull in more and more mobs. Not sure how this will work out safely for casters, but for my pally it's awesome! I wasn't paying the most attention, but I believe I got at least 8 or so stacks of cloth, a bunch of greens and vendor trash, and around 200 gold in an hour. This was all with some &*!@#$% DK death and decaying and trying to steal most of my kills. Great spot.

Best spot/way to farm this is simply by going to Icecrown with a:
* Protection Paladin
* Shadow Priest
* Demology Warlock (never tried it)
Usually I run this area for approximately
1 hour
every day with an result of 250g ONLY in vendor trash and the direct silver drop from the NPC:s for a total of 800g+ when posting up the stuff on the AH (having all requirements presented below).
Requirements & Preferences:
Norhrend Cloth Scavaging - a tailoring passive skill wich REALLY boosts the drop rate of this cloth
80 slots of free bag space - they fill up faster than you think
An skilled enchanter for disenchanting greenies
Atleast 5k Gearscore.
You might think that the most effective farming here would be using a warlock or a paladin. But it really isnt. Lately ive always been farming here using my priest just casting Mind Sear on those packs, just make sure to buff yourself with Power Word: Shield before every pull and you will be fine.
Hope this helped you solving your gold problems =)

I have been leveling Tailoring and bought out all the Frostweave Cloth on the AH that was less than 18g per stack (my llimit). Then I came here and read that Icecrown is the place to go. So I dropped by my old mates the
Converted Heros
to try them out. In 1.5 - 2hrs I pulled in the following (approx numbers).
- 30 stacks of Frostweave Cloth (with the tailoring talent)
- 400g in coin/greys
- 15-20 Greens
- Quite a few health/mana pots, scrolls, food and drink.
I did this on my Boomkin who is in mostly 251 gear inc 5/5 T10, some 264 and 277 items.
My Strat
- Hurricane pull 3 groups
- Pop Starfall when they're close/hitting on me
- Backpeddle until their all in front of me and then pop Typhoon
- Hurricane until they're dead!
I found that 3 groups is optimal, but can lead to a swift death if not done right (yep, I died a few times!). If you get into trouble, you're better off trying to kill them quicker because they put a reduced healing debuff on you. I OOMed pretty quickly as well from all the Hurricaning, so those mana pots were rather handy at times.
I am going to go back again tonight and take more note of what I pull in an hour.
---------EDIT---------
After one hour these were my reulsts:
-200 gold (selling greys and coin)
-18 greens
-19 stacks of Frostweave Cloth
-26 gold repairs
I had some bad luck with some pulls (hence the repairs) and didn't find it to be a totally good run - but it was still a decent haul none the less.

Why has no1 posted about the valley of the fallen heroes? In an hour i usually net about 12 stacks of frostweave cloth (less than converted heroes but more than the pond by freya.) All the mobs are non-aggressive and the best classes to do this with is probably a bear druid, aff warlock, shadow priest or a hunter (depending on skill lvl, hunter is the hardest).

as I got cloth
As Mind Sear has been nerfed to the ground in Cataclysm, AoE grinding is not an option for Shadow Priests. My single target DPS is like 150% of my Mind Sear DPS on a pack of 6-7 mobs.
Seems, I need to level up my tailor who happens to be a warlock and might therefore be better in AoE grinding anyway.
Packs of Converted Heroes currently seem to be the best target.

For those whos still interested in a good farming spot i have one 48,47 in Icecrown facing west southwest. Just stand still there and kill the Fallen Heroe´s spirit running past you. Its not worth running around chasing them and i feldt it was much easier killing them when i had my back against them. They are yellow so they dont attack if you dont do it first. And thats even better if yoy cant handle lots of mobs at the same time.
Im 82 now and got about 100 Frostweave Cloth per hour. No problems what so ever.

FYI the spot @ 48,47 in Icecrown for a non-tailor absolutely sucks for drop rate, I didnt spend a LOT of time there but after dropping 50-75 mobs I only had a couple of cloth.
the spot in Gundrak posted by surloin was better, about a 20% drop rate after 40 kills, again with a non-tailor farmer.
I'll post again after testing in sholazar

I recently decided to pick up tailoring on my main (since I neglected professions while leveling), and I found that the best place for me to farm Frostweave is at Sholazar Basin near the Suntouched Pillar. The Venture Co. mobs dropped a lot of Frostweave for me, and they have a good respawn rate as well. ( Do note that I also have Northern Cloth Scavenging, so that helps a lot as well).

As a warlock (though I would imagine it would work well with anyone who has an AOE) I grabbed my Felguard and my spells and headed out to Icecrown.
In the area Northwest of Ymirhiem there are packs of converted heros (looks like 6-8 in a group) that as an 84 warlock I easier could take out with my Rain of Fire and my felguard's Felstorm.
I swooped in on my flying carpet and dropped in the middle of the group to make sure to aggro them all then just AOEed them to death. In a hour of non hardcore farming I got 6 and half stacks of frostweave.

In Icecrown I killed Converted Heroes that are tightly packed together. About 3 hours at level 82 with Shadow priest, yielded 78 bolts of Frostweave. Not bad for power leveling. Mind seared everything to oblivion.
Also got about 100 gold worth of grey stuff to vendor.

The converted heroes are probably among the better mobs to farm for cloth. There are a few other camps that of course net more cash, the heroes have a reduced monetary drop compared to other northrend mobs.
My "ideal" farming spots include this: It must be done by a class "naked". What i mean by naked is that you have no gear that can take a durability hit and wearing heirlooms, while still maintaining a decent kill rate. My rogue, 85, can easily do the converted heroes "naked". The mortal strike is mostly just annoying, but no big deal. I pick of a loner near a cluster of mob and start up a 31 sec recuperate, then i stealth in and just spam FoK. I am assassination spec. The mobs generally all die within 20 sec. Doing a pull like this with your 85 gear will give you a nice repair bill. Yeah, hehe... i guess i am that cheap!
It isnt that fun to do if you dont have the tailoring northrend cloth thing, but it works pretty well.
Any other classes that can do these "naked"(heirlooms+trinkets etc)?

Here's my stats on Converted Heroes...
As a level 80 Shadow Priest wearing Cataclysm greens giving me 2495 int, 6.5% hit, 29.26%crit, and 41K mana, I tracked 5 30-min sessions.
I ended up averaging, for a 30 min period, 5.5 stacks of Frostweave and 17G. On my server, the Frostweave stacks sold for 30G each. The 17G is straight loot, not including vendor trash. Of the vendor junk, I think it worthy to mention that I averaged a stack of Thick Fur Scraps (a stack vendors for 10G).
My method was to create an conveyor line for each group, pulling an individual with DP from near max range, mind-flaying as he ran to me and then pulling the next guy with DP. The first guy basically dies at my feet with 2nd running toward me. Rinse and repeat. As level 80 (I turned off XP to determine if I can use the toon as a money maker on WotLK content while wearing Cata gear), I found Mind Sear wasn't the best. I ended up needing to drink every 8min or so. I used Sparkling Oasis Water to minimize the drinking time.

For those who are raising the skill level of a tailor you are going to need something like 1400 frostweave. That's 70 stacks. This will allow you to make enough bolts to level from 350 to 425 using only orange recipes. If you farm it all at the best rates I see above, 5.5 stacks in 30 minutes, it means 12.7 hours of farming. And it is unclear if you must have the Northrend Scavenging skill to achieve this. (I'm betting you do.) If the cloth drops at the much lower rates posted here, it's not worth the time at all.
I was able to farm up mageweave and netherweave at rates of 5-6 stacks in 20 minutes, and not nearly so much of those types was needed. I can't help but think that the new drop rate on frostweave is a horrible mistake. Even if you can afford to pay 50g per stack, there is not enough frostweave in the AH to buy all you will need. And have you noticed that frostweave bags are very rare now? I know that we will all manage to get through this, but it seems an unnecessary hardship from my point of view.
I just spent 10 minutes farming heroes as a test. 21 frostweave without northrend scavenging. That works out at about 6 stacks an hour. So, while this is not a worst case as I feared it does mean half a day of farming to get the full 70 stacks.

This goes out to all the leveling tailors out there with Northrend scavenging. I can't hazard a guess as to what the drop rate would be for those without it. But the place I've been farming that I've kept to myself until I no longer needed Frostweave in fear of botting and exploiting to the point of Blizz nerfing the drops is the Isle Onslaught Harbor off of Ice Crown. This place is a frostweave cloth Bonanza. Depending on your kill rate(I'm mostly level 81 cata gear)...6-7 stack in an hour is easy. The NPC's respawn constantly. Good luck.

I had a lovely date with the converted heroes last night. I was there for 3 hours (with the occasional break) and ended up with a total of 422 frostweave cloth (I do have scavenging), no greens, but with the money from the mobs and the junk that I sold I also made just about 200 gold. I don't think it was a wasted trip :)

4-18-11: 8 pieces of cloth, one per kill, off 44 kills on cultists inside Aldur-thur - Desolation Gate building in Icecrown. Limited sample but it shows Blizzard went overboard on the cloth drop nerf, as they usually do. Used to be able to get at least a stack (i.e., 20 pieces cloth) off those 44 kills in this location.
Edit: Character used was an 81 hunter, so was sending pet at mobs in groups of 1-3. Hunters really do not have an AoE anymore, since they took away Volley.

Just to put things into perspective for all the people reading the "low drop chance" comments and wondering how they play out in the long run:
Tailoring frostweave skill up requires roughly 1400-1500 frostweave cloth.
I arrived at Northrend at lvl 68 on my mage. First thing I did was pick up Northrend Cloth Scavenging to take full advantage of it. No heirloom XP boosts apart from the 10% guild perk.
I quested all the way to lvl 76, emphasizing on quests that threw me against mainly humanoid mobs to max out my random frostweave cloth drops.
After that, still at lvl 76, seeing that I wasn't gonna meet the required cloth by the time I hit lvl 80 and move out of Northrend, I stopped questing and started farming mobs. Specifically, the Frenzyheart Spearbearer and Scavengers at Spearborn encampment, in the NW area of Sholazar Basin.
I ended up with the needed cloth 3 XP BARS away from lvl 80.
I hope that paints a picture to all the inquirers. Blizzard indeed has crippled the drop rate. I highly suggest to anyone interested in lvling tailoring to wait till lvl 85 and backtrack to Northrend for the farming, and I hope the fast kill rate will compensate for the abysmal drop rate and not drive you insane.
Edit: as far as the 1-4 quantity range goes, roughly 80+% of that is a single cloth and the rest is divided evenly between 2,3,4 cloth per mob.

I guess I must be lucky or I am the only one telling the truth here.
I went to Ice Crown, Valley of fallen heroes to farm frostweave cloth.. on the way from Org I passed thru sholazar basin and stoped at the lost lands to first farm the book 'northrend scavanger', I got it on the second kill. I farmed ice crown for 1 hour and 50 mins and got 33 stacks. I don't kbow why or how the other people are saying they got 6 stacks an hour? I am a lvl 85 holy priest and all I did was aoe the groups and killed the singles as I ran to the next group.
I had to leave or I could have got all I needed to lvl my tailoring in just a couple of more hours. Frostweave on my server is going for 75 to 100g a stack which I wont pay but farming isn't too bad like other want you to believe. hope this helps

Does anyone know if the drop rate differs from server to server? Just wondering if Blizzard does this to throw us off, and make it just that much more challenging. My suspicions are because the converted heroes spot in Icecrown that people seem to be raving about is just incredibly low on my server, so it must differ depending on the server. Anyway ... I found a good spot in Sholozar Basin at the Frenzyheart encampment in the northwest, but still 12 stacks an hour is about my best so far. I have the Northrend cloth perk, so even with that. The drop rate isn't as terrible in this spot, but still far less than the other mats, even Embersilk is dropping a lot more than FW. Off topic, fewer mining nodes as well in Northrend, and don't even get me started on the available nodes in Twilight Higlands lol.

Desent droprate but the respawn time is insane, i was standing in the middle as warlock. Casting corruption on them, they jump into middle and die in a big pile, the give 0-4 frostweave, greens, pots and money.

I tried the area with the converted heroes and it seemed like an awful lot of work as far as the number of mobs versus the amount of frostweave cloth you actually received. I wandered over to Death's Hand Encampment in Sholazar Basin and had alot better luck. It's a small area, mostly single mobs, rarely more than two at a time, and the respawn rate was fantastic. The humanoids didn't drop cloth every time, but usually at least every 2nd or 3rd time and often it would be 3 to 5 pieces at a time. I just circled around and around the camp over and over. The respawn rate was that good even for a level 83 hunter like me. The mobs are lvl 76-77. They also drop fur cloth scraps and thick fur cloth scraps which earn 2g - 10g per stack respectively as vendor trash.

I have tried the fallen heroes but I did not find a good spot where they would run to.
One thing I have done is farm the halls of lightning with my level 85 warri. It was fairly easy, and one run usually yields 3-4 stacks. This is only for high level alts, not for real leveling.
EDIT:
After having checked out the spot again and farming for an hour, I got 4 stacks of Frostweave. I conclude that WITHOUT Frostweave scrounging, an instance is still the best place to go.

I dont know what you people dont understand about this... IF youre a tailor and have read the book you are going to have success in farming this because you have an increased chance to recieve the loot from ANY humanoid in northrend. However, if you have not learned the extra cloth gathering skill (available via the book nowdays) then you are gonna be hard pressed to "farm" frostweave, just go kill mobs and take what you can get. So for all you naysayers out there posting replys saying "this spot sucks" or "i cant get cloth QQ" , go to the spots on a tailor with the skill and you wont have any issues.

After that I tried all the other spots on this thread and even tried soloing instances on my DK.. Nothing else came even close to Fallen Hero's Spirits.

What I found by far most lucrative and cloth-yelding was the Onslaught Harbour (The islands west of Icecrown), with most mobs dropping 2-4 cloth. I'm an 85 boomkin in restogear, and for those of you not above 80, this spot might not be so good, due to the risk of massive pulls.
My tactic was to first pull the mobs on the staircase of the monastery and then run in the entrance and using LoS getting them all in a neat bunch, then you just take whatever AoE you have available (Wild Mushrooms in my case) and blast away. Then I went in further into the church and pulled the two big groups in there, (same procedure, LoS + AoE).
After having emptied the monastery I went to the westernmost part of the northern island where the mobs are a bit more spread out. There i just DoT:ed and ran, killing all of them and then looting. When this island was empty I went towards the cave on the southern end of the island, where there are three large groups just outside. I aggroed all three and and used LoS again, this time using the cavern walls, and then blasted them down.
When I had done these three places the ones in front of the monastery had respawned, so basically I just went in a circle between these three spots and that yielded me 15 stacks of Frostweave and a gazzillion of greens in less than an hour. Hope this helps :)

I have been farming the rare spawns in Northrend during off hours (4-5 AM server time.) They all drop a satchel that contains a full stack of 20 frostweave, a blue item, and15-20 gold per. With Northrend mostly abandoned these days I usually get 8-10 stacks for the 45 minutes or so it takes to check them all using npcscan add-on. I find this method much less labor intensive with a comparable yield of cloth and gold per hour. It is also a good way to finish off the Frostbitten achievement. If you don't have a hunter be sure to add the tamable spirit beasts to npcscan as they are not loaded for non hunters by default but they also drop the satchel.

So it's 4.2, things have been changed in regards to drop potency and i'm here to post my 2 cents.
I spent 20 minutes farming
Fallen Hero's Spirit
in Icecrown as a level 85 Frost Mage and gained 175 Frostweave. It works out at a touch under 1 cloth per 7 seconds which is reasonable as it's extremely easy and downtime is non-existent.
So if, like myself, you've come here for a straight forward answer as to where is a good place to farm for a little while, I recommend farming
Fallen Hero's Spirit
in Icecrown .
EDIT: Naturally I was a Tailor with
Northern Cloth Scavenging
when I accumilated this information so comparing my data with yours when you are not also a Tailor with this benefit is bound to show disparity in figures.
Also there is mention of the adds aren't easy to AoE, I disagree. They roam in packs of 5-10 and if you use an AoE ability such as, Rain of Fire or Blizzard, you can tag two packs and AoE them down together, making large piles of sparkly bodies.

For Frost mages (my rotation): I use mage armor - but ice or molten work, though you'll need to mana up more often.
I activate ice shield, manashield, & mage ward (on macro), then use Water Elementals Freeze ring to "get their attention" (won't freeze them in place), then activate my Blizzard/Ice Storm - with lower gear, you'll need it twice. They die and you collect the frostweave. Rinse and repeat.
Hope that helps.

Best place to farm this I've found to be while on the quest "Basic Chemistry". Since this quest is now solo-able you can do it as many times you want (even after the quest is completed - You'll have to keep it in your questlog though as you need the Spinal Fluid).
The reason for this is the chance of having "Living Plague"s spawn, which are small slimes with around 13k health.
These slimes drop between 1-4 cloths and often drop greens as well + the random greys.
In 20 mins i managed to farm 6 stacks and got around 10 greens to DE!

It is a cave behind the chapel at onslaught harbor. There are packs of elite casters inside with low HP and 3 packs or regulars outside the entrance.
Spawn rates are pretty good and the cloth and cash loot is pretty decent.
Some elites drop 4-8 cloth and up to 1g coin each.
After 30 mins (timed), I got the following:

Corp'Rethar in south west Ice Crown @44,77. Lvl 85 Druid tank, I farmed 7 stacks of 20 in 35 mins. I averaged 7-18 a pull. These guys are elite lvl 80's 37.8K health each and one taunt pulls almost an entire side 20 mobs+ so bring your CC, and AOE . I just have a crap DPS set my gear lvl is 358. I survived the pulls with cooldowns etc.. no problem. Very fast respawn rate.

Not sure why everyone's praising certain mobs + Northern Cloth Scavenging; maybe it USED to give extra cloth off regular Northrend mobs, but if you check the comments on it now (and see for yourself in the game), it only applies to dungeon mobs, I believe only while you're grouped. I just got all the way to Icecrown on my tailor without experiencing it, and then did a dungeon and had it work with several mobs that had already been looted by group members.
REGARDLESS, I was farming for more frostweave for her, and tried the suggested area around Aldur'thar. It was good, but not great, and then I spotted big clusters of mobs inside the building there. Went in: tons of cultists with a super fast respawn rate. By the time I cleared both sides of the room, the first side I cleared was mostly respawned. I got three and a half stacks in about twenty minutes.

In this current patch release, I tried 2 instances, both with little luck, and a few mobs. The converted heroes seem to be the best, with probably an average of 3 per group. For a geared 85, a group can be dropped in 8 seconds. There's plenty of groups. I recommend flying into a group, aggroing all, and aoe.

I'm going to have to agree that Converted Heroes are the best. I tried the Cultist Infiltrators and got only 1 drop per every 3-4 mobs with Northrend Scavenging. With the Converted Heroes I was getting at least one cloth almost every mob - a much better return.
I also tried instances. Terrible drop rate.

I found the Chained Abominations in The Fleshwerks to be good farming material. No matter how fast you kill them, there always seem to be at least 2 around, sometimes spawning over the last one before it hits the ground. I played as a level 80 Frost Mage with Northern Cloth Scavenging, and the rate is about 9 stacks per hour.

I'm leveling up my tailoring and tried all the methods suggested below. I can confirm that, for me, in 4.3 the Converted Heroes route was far and away the best. I mindlessly grinded away during a playoff football game (so figure 3 hours, 3 1/2...in that range) and came away with 1,065 pieces of frostweave cloth. (That's with one run to Dalaran to do some tailoring leveling and sell grays and some small breaks for food, etc). So I would definitely recommend that to any aspiring tailors out there who need to grind cloth.
As a side note, I noticed you can actually make some nice pocket change while you're cloth grinding. Save any grey's that are worth more than 1g and the
厚皮衣碎片
that fall. Between the mob drops and selling this, I made probably about 350g total just in extra. If you're leveling tailoring, the extra cash can actually pay for the spells you need to learn, so bonus win for you. :)

For farming, I have to recommend the Savage Ledge just west of the Shadow Vault in Icecrown. There are several pairs of Mjordin Combatants fighting here. They're easy to kill. They respawn quickly. They even charge right over to you, so you can stand in the middle and make them come to you - making looting that much easier. Their drop rate wasn't bad - not as good as other areas - but the ease of farming here makes it worth it. I farmed 2 stacks of frostweave cloth here in less than an hour - probably more like a 1/2 hour. Next time, I will time it.
It is worth mentioning that I'm a tailor with the extra-cloth-finding skill. So normal folks might find this area a weak farming spot, since they don't get the extras.

Location
South East of Jotunheim on the big blue open area of the map in Icecrown
Target
Converted Hero
Drop Rate
Roughly 1 bolt per group (5 cloth)
I tried all the suggestions in the above comments and this was the quickest way to farm up 1400 cloth for my Tailoring grind. Took me a few hours and I was done, and you never run out of spawns. One blast from any AoE took the whole group down, but they aren't linked so you need to make sure you hit them all.

I just farmed the Converted Heroes for about 30mins and got 220 Frostweave Cloth. I did it with a Rogue with Epic Flying and the Northrend Cloth thingy. Most I ended up getting in one group was 11 cloth, least being 0. Its pretty quick, just dismount in air and stealth, and spam fan of knives with poisons on your weapons of course. I got bored though, which is why I stopped, lol.

Level 85 Fire Mage, around 8000 SP.
I found that the converted heroes in Icecrown are actually a fantastic spot. Much mobs around, relative low health and not much interference from any quest mobs / elites. (Not that it would matter much though).
Together with
布匹搜寻
they are a reliable and quick (400 cloth/hour on average, though it may vary on the rate which you kill packs in) source of cloth.
What I did was bind my flying mount to a convenient button for quick access to your mount, this is key to my method. You will spend most time flying and mounting up, so with an epic flyer that is conveniently bound it will increase your gather rate quite a bit.
I would fly from pack to pack, doing the following:
As a Fire mage, make sure you have:
龙息术
What my "rotation" was would be the following:
Mount up and land near a pack
Cast
just infront of the pack, but making sure to hit
EVERY
mob.
When they are attacking you, cast
冰锥术
Cast
龙息术
for more damage!
They should already be quite low at this point, due to the
,
烈焰风暴
and
冰锥术
If you still have remaining mobs you can either
灼烧
or
them to finish them off.
This worked great for me in killing the packs quickly and effeciently, they will all die near you for fast looting.
For reduced downtime there a couple of glyphs that you could use:
被烧毁的雕文
for a shorter cooldown on Dragon's Breath what will do quite a bit of your damage.
Then make sure you get your hands on
被烧毁的雕文
for reduced downtime.
被烧毁的雕文
can also be used but is not mandatory. You can use this to heal yourself
IF
you are getting hit too much.
For other classes this could be a great method aswell, but I'm not too sure on that because the Fire mage has 3 key spells to their advantage for high damage that is not limited by cooldowns much.
Frost doesn't really work too good for this. You lack the AoE damage and there is no real need for
http://www.wowhead.com/spell=11426
.
Hope this helped you!

My favorite, albeit probably overlooked, farming spot for Frostweave has become the Cathedral of Darkness in Icecrown Citadel. Farming on Protection Warrior Tailor (377 iLevel, Northrend Cloth Scavenging), the groups are incredibly easy to kill, and each pull has 20-24 mobs. I'm not sure about phasing, but I think it is unaffected by it (although my toon is 63/140 quests in Icecrown). The Cathedral is at 44, 78 on the map (the same place you go to meet Tirion during the Matthias Lehner quest chain). I was averaging about a stack of cloth every 2 minutes. By the time you kill and loot one side of the cathedral, the other side has respawned. So, there's constant killing, and a lot of cloth, with easy to kill mobs. I tried others but ended up going here and it turned out quite nicely. 12 stacks of cloth in about 25 minutes for those wondering.

82 shadow Priest here, leveled a bit too quickly and didn't level my Tailoring high enough for Cata cloth. I read through the comments and checked out a few places, finally found my new favorite. Icecrown, Icecrown Glacier, in the valley where the groups of Fallen/Converted Heroes walk around in groups. I can easily solo one group, plus the Banner-Bearer and a few scragglers on the side, with ease. Once again, only level 82, no need to be 85. Also I have no dungeon or BoA gear, just gear from quests. I've been here for almost 20 minutes and I've gotten 5 stacks of Netherweave Cloth, as well as two BoE greens. Hope you guys have as much luck as i'm having!

As a level 85 Protection Warrior (non-tailor in a level 1 guild), I spent
15 minutes
farming
陨落英雄之魂
in Icecrown and got 38
霜纹布
. Ranged DPS would most likely be able to farm quite a bit more in this time frame.
The technique I used is as follows:
天灾转化者
use
天灾之握
on
陨落英雄之魂
whom then flee to the Southwest. I start at that choke point and grab 3 or so that are trying to run pass me. As I move North/Northeast, I grab the
陨落英雄之魂
that have not been inflicted with
天灾之握
along with those trying to run past me. Iend up grabbing anywhere from 1 to 8, most of which do not drop any cloth since I am not a tailor. For those of you that are tailors level 400+ (50% increase to cloth drops when tailoring is 400+), you will get quite a bit of cloth in a very short amount of time.
After a second
15 minute
run (this run took place 2 hours after the first run), I was only able to get 30
霜纹布
. However, in each 15 minute run I managed to get a cooking recipe. They are as follows:
First 15 minute run awarded me with
食谱:美味蛋糕
.
Second 15 minute run awarded me with
食谱:坏掉的蚌肉
.
NOTE: I have not done any quests in this zone. If you have done quests in this zone, your phasing will be different from mine which will cause your drop rates to decline.
Edit: Fixed typo and added second run stats.

Trying to farm for my tailoring toon. Read that Fallen Hero's Spirit was best normal non dung drop. averaging Pulled 7 drops per 21 kills, or essentially one drop per 3 kills. A lot of these areas that aren't run that often anymore seem to have their item drop rates adjusted, making you work harder. Still a decent enough DR to make it a great place to farm frostweave cloth.

Ok all prior posts are OLD NEWS!
Here is some current news from this decade. After farming all over Northrend I have found that it is not really about the drop rate (as all spots are pretty poor) but it's more about the quantity of mobs that you can round up and kill at one time.
As a lvl 85 Tank with only a 370 iLvL and I can burn down anything in Northrend in mass numbers while facerolling the keyboard. The best spot for mass numbers goes first to the
被转化的英雄
area as they travel in groups and the groups are quite close together. All have a pretty poor drop rate. Like 10 mobs gets around 1-4 cloth. I am a Miner/BS so no cloth drop boost except guild perk.
Onslaught Harbor
is about the same drop rate as far as I could see and the mobs are spread out except for in the cathedral. The Cathedral is the only place worth farming due to the mass numbers. I pull the whole Cath in two pulls. Land and ride through and aggro every mob on the outside steps. Ride up through the doors to the Cath and LoS the mobs to just inside the doorway and burn um down. Then run through in to the inner area and run through the mobs inside and use the pillars inside to bring all the mobs to within melee range. The only problem with this is that it takes no more than a minute to kill the entire Cath. Then you have to wait for the entire thing to respawn.
Long story short just stick to the Converted Hero's as there are MANY more of them in a much larger area.

Coldrock Quarry
right outside the main landing in Borean and that is the best place I have found so far. After running it 3 times (the NPC's res really fast due to questing objectives) I had 4 stacks plus 2-3G and other trash items. Most of the time they drop 2-3 pieces each and every once and a while you'll find a drop of 4 pieces :)

At level 85 I'd be more inclined to recommend the Cathedral of Darkness as a much better farming spot. Both sides of the cathedral have large groups of elite Chosen Zealot which you can pull and aoe down. By the time you finish looting one side, the other has respawned
But, beware, when u aggro one group, the rest on that side come after you also. so have some food/drinks ready after you kill one side before you take on the other.

There's usually at least 4-7

They all cluster together in groups of around 8 mobs, just run around to each group aoe a bit and on to the next, there's a ton of groups and they respawn very quick, by the time you make it around the area the first few groups should be spawned leaving a never ending flow of easy cloth. On average I got about 5-6 stacks in 15 minutes.

I have noticed that Snowplain Kobolds, SE of Wyrmrest Temple in Dragonblight drop cloth pretty frequently. Usually 3 at a time, too. They are only 72-73, non-elite, and you don't have to go dungeon-diving to get at them... which is preferable to those of us who are not yet uber-85s.

As a level 85 Frost Mage in mediocre gear (mix of quest greens and 333 blues)
with
布匹搜寻
, I really like the
陨落英雄之魂
approach to farming Frostweave.
I started at Cathedral of Darkness, and it does work. The cultists respawn incredibly fast. But it's annoying as Mage — the mobs are immune to both Snare and Root effects. It's totally doable, but it takes some attention and finesse — too much work for mindless farming, imo.
I also tried
被转化的英雄
, and wasn't satisfied here either. Again, it takes too much effort: you have to keep traveling from pack to pack, and then stop to loot everything. There's a noticeable start-stop-start rhythm which feels annoying.
I found
陨落英雄之魂
to be the best approach. I
do not
think this is the highest possible Frostweave/minute rate. In order to achieve that, you would need to put the effort in to really burn/farm somewhere like the Cathedral. But that's not the point. Fallen Heroes are great if you're just
really, really lazy
about farming stuff.
Go
here
in Icecrown and set up your
蘑菇椅子
(note: sittable fungus is optional). You will encounter a literally endless flow of neutral Fallen Heroes. Your only job is to put your pet on Assist and tag each Hero with an instant attack as it runs past you. Your pet will take care of the rest.
This is awesome, because you can easily work this in to multitasking lots of other stuff in the background, playing a simple minigame of tagging moving objects. Sometimes the mobs will slow down and stop coming for awhile — these lulls are great, because that is when you take a moment to loot your pile of ghost corpses. By the time you're done looting, a new flow willl be trickling in again.
You don't have to think, perform any fancy trix, do anything more complicated than press your 1 key (or whatever) — you don't even have to
move
. Someone earlier likened it to playing Tower Defense games. That's a pretty good analogy.
Again, if you want maximum Frostweave/minute rates, this is not the right place. If you want to accumulate a pretty respectable amount of Frostweave while chatting with friends, typing messages about farming Frostweave on Wowhead, watching TV, cooking dinner, doing homework, drinking heavily, and/or making out with the cute guy you picked up in your biochem class — Fallen Heroes are great!

Personally i have tried farming many places listed here but as a leveling priest only in the 70s, I found that Icecrown Citadel entrance, where the huge elites spawn was the best. There are two sides that spawn individually, and each group has a lvl 82 elite followed by a bunch of gouls.I wait for the elite to run by and aoe the group of gouls. After the elite is killed by the ebon blade they run over and help you. Once the first group is dead (for me) I have just enough time to loot them and run to the other side to get the second group. After that there is about a 2 minute break until the other side spawns again so its fairly quick.
With one pull I get about 5 Frostweave, and some vendor items, with the occasional green. (Maybe its me, but this reaped more cloth than the other tactics i have tried). Hope this helps all you lvling tailors!

I've found Pit of Saron on either normal or heroic to be a great source of Frostweave as of 5.0.4. Just clear the instance up to the cave (the mobs in the cave don't drop anything). After you kill Ick, 4 groups of mobs will spawn on the ramp leading up to the cave. The first two packs are worth killing, the second two are not. In the second two packs, only two out of five mobs have a loot table. If you want to save time, just clear the first two packs on the ramp then leave and reset. If you're doing it on heroic, just don't kill the Forgemaster or Ick. Clear the quarry, then leave and reset.
I do it on normal, usually, since my tailoring priest is an enchanter, and you can kill the first two bosses without losing the ability to reset the dungeon. If you kill bosses on heroic, you can't reset.
TL;DR:
Farm Pit of Saron
If normal: Clear the quarry; if you're an enchanter, kill first two bosses and first two packs on ramp.
If heroic: Clear the quarry, leave, reset.

I found a good place to farm Frostweave, in Icecrown at the Conflagration (Between The Fleshwerks and Ymirheim). You can kill the lines of Converted Heros, Scourge Banner-Bearer, Vargul Wanderer, and Ravaged Ghoul in groups and steal all their Frostweave :) Just be careful of the Skeletal Reavers, big Elite mobs that are obviously harder to kill and don't drop any loot.

Really, go to Icecrown at 41.51 and nuke the packs of Converted Hero
--> As Elemental shaman (lvl 87) with average blue gears and 12k SP, i managed to farm 301 Frostweave Cloth's in just 30min by spamming Chain Lightning on everything.. Don't pull more than 1 pack, as they will simply just slow your movement speed to super slowmotion.. Nuke 1 pack at a time, fast and smooth, loot, next pack..
I also found 8 greens, 2 Book of Glyph Mastery and sold greys and #$%^ for 92g & 51s. (1g and 62s repair).
Have fun farming! This is the ultimate place to farm, you NEVER run out of these adds, unless your server is super overpopulated with farmers.. We were me, a paladin and a warlock farming at this place at the same time, I barely met them, and I had something to kill ALL THE TIME.

Had to farm for a bit to level my tailoring, didn't like the places suggested here 'cause i'm a lazy bast***:
- The cathedral was a pain as a 85 warlock, was taking too much damage and required too much attention for a long farm.
- Onslaught harbor mobs are spread all over the place, too much walking for lazy me.
- Converted heroes the same issue as the harbor, kill one pack, fly, find next...
In the end I farmed at Valhalas, killing
Mjordin Combatant
(check link for location).
THE AREA IS PHASED IF YOU DID THE QUESTS,
if you completed the zone it's probably NOT going to work for you.
Good thing about this place: You NEVER run out of mobs, everytime you kill the last 3, they repop instantly! The area is small and require minimal running/moving around, as a warlock I was just running around the center of the plateform casting corruption, tab, corruption, tab... LOOT!
In about one hour of farming (
with scavenging!
), I ended up with:
- 460
霜纹布
- 1 Blue
- 17 Greens
- 200g from mobs
- 100g worth of junk
- 700ish
Vrykul bones
- a 15g repair bill
===============================
From what i've read the
Mjordin Combatant
behavior have changed since WotLK, people were complaining about long respawn time and not enough mobs before, so give it a try and leave a comment.

If you're looking for a spot to get the frostweave easily, go to this spot:
http://www.wowhead.com/maps?data=210:424563
and just farm there(pretty much that whole area, from where those huge skeleton guys are, to where you start hitting the walls of the bridge and stuff up at the north side). Kill the contended heroes, I believe that's what they are called. There's groups of 6 or 8 of them walking around. Just kill the groups. If you kill them all, just wait like 5 min, they will be there again. As a mage at 85 I just used arcane explosion until they died, took just a few seconds.
It really helps if you have "The Guide to Northern Cloth Finding". I have to go, so just search it on here, it helps you in finding cloth. It says it's only for humanoids, and these guys aren't humanoids, but it helps, trust me. Unless it's this great of a drop rate normally.
I got about 400 frostweave in 30 min! Also got a ton of junk that sold for some easy extra bits of gold. But if you stay there long enough, you're gonna end up deleting everything that isn't frostweave. Or you could just go back to dalaran and sell the stuff, and put the frostweave in you bank.
Good luck guys.

Read this if:
You are a tailor/enchanter
Level 90 (or at least you are able to solo Wotlk normal and heroic dungeons)
You prefer instances, because your server isn't normal or bugged by other farmers
Since I have a tailor-enchanter character, who needs tremendous amount of Frostweave Cloth and items for disenchant, I tried to find the best spot for farming both. I filtered my spots, and ran in the most humanoid infected instances (best for cloth). Since normal is the repeatable one that is the most relevant, but always run one heroic, since you will need frozen orbs too.
I ran with my bm hunter, who isn't an enchanter, so the bop items gave me gold. Pick up the gray items too, vendor gives shiny gold for these.

Just wanted to update since patch (5.1) I think both Cathedral of Darkness and Converted Hero are great places to farm but what i have ran into with the Cross Server interaction is that Cathedral of Darkness is heavily over farmed or you will spend a great deal of your time "PVPING" rather then farming so I would suggest Converted Hero.

Not sure how Marmotteuh below hasn't received more upvotes... Posting this as a new comment hoping to make it more visible to people.
尤尔丁格斗者
are numero uno for
霜纹布
. I've done a few of the quests (can do the dailies) and it's not phased for me at all.
As an Affliction
术士
Tailor with
布匹搜寻
I just hit the mobs with
腐蚀术
and run back to the center (if I have to move at all). Shadow
牧师
with
暗言术:痛
,
死亡骑士
with
寒冰锁链
, or
猎人
with a
'/stopattack' macro would probably work just as well.
The key is to just hit them with a no-cooldown dot or other ability that doesn't kill them instantly and that you can chain-cast to get them to run to you at the middle.
At level 90 with 442 ilvl I'm doing just enough damage so they die basically as they get to me unless they leap to me. Only times it's annoying is when (VERY rarely) they will knock me in the air just as I hit
腐蚀术
, so I have to recast. Just dot up the next ones that repop, rinse and repeat. 3 up at all times means chain pulls are very easy to accomplish. I usually chain for about 30 seconds or so before stopping to loot so I make sure not to lose any. The insults they sling make it a little more interesting, as does the constant respawn, than anywhere else. Not to mention the 460 cloth gathered in an hour mentioned by Marmotteuh is right on track, even stopping in between to go vendor at the Shadow Vault. I'm guessing with completely empty bags and dropping a
基维斯
or
废物贩卖机器人制造器
as an Engineer, you could get upwards of even 600 per hour.
Use the
维库人的徽记
for turn-ins to get
冰霜束缚命运符文
for those times when you have to move a bit to tag one.
Another nice thing is you don't have to feel bad for taking quest mobs from players that come through. The instant respawn allows you to stop for a minute (take a bio break maybe? :P) and let them get the mobs they need, perhaps even helping them kill them. Then you can go right back to work without having to stop the bloodshed. Fantastic spot, absolutely perfect. I've done other places too such as the
被转化的英雄
area, and it's just not as good.
TL;DR - If you're looking for the 1200

you'll spend maybe 2-3 hours here (still not short, but the best I have seen). Need the 76 for

Best place to farm in massive amounts in a short time span is in the
萨隆矿坑
, on normal mode. Took about 10 min to get 160
霜纹布
. Gather up all the groups and destroy, loot, repeat... This is soloable for most high lvl toons, and is about 10,000% more efficient than any other way that I have farmed. I usually pull the entire entrance and get 60-80 cloth in one go.
So if you have a high lvl toon, or a nice friend with a few min to spare, or are just really bored and wanna cash in on easy 20g on ah, this is the place to get
霜纹布
.
Good luck! Happy farming and enjoy the extra time!

My tailor is a town-clown - a crafting toon that only has a 'character class' because you have to have one. Most of the levels on that character have been RAF grants, all the way up into the 70s, with a few scattered here and there as the capital-city dailies, DMF, and Thorium-Brotherhood-Rep grinding happened. (The toon is also the blacksmith of my alts...) It's a warrior, because I don't find them appealing to play at all.
In fact, I really don't know how to play them at all. And my gear is hopeless.
So this probably isn't the *best* place to farm, in terms of highest kill/loot count. But it was certainly doable, and not at all strenuous for an L80 mostly-incompetent warrior with Northern Cloth Scavenging.
There's a cave just off from K3 in the StormPeaks, that has
水晶蛛网喷毒者
, some kobolds in it, and scattered clusters of gnolls around it. The gnolls and the kobolds drop frostweave cloth - not fantastically, but not bad - and the spiders drop the
冰网蛛丝
, which is annoying as hell to get off the AH, as it's always expensive. The respawn times are fast enough that you could just loop through the cavern repeatedly, tho someone more efficient than I could well get bored and find it too long.
In a few hours of looping around the area, leisurely running quests out of K3 and making sure to kill every single gnoll when I happened across the clusters of them, and doing as best as I could a full clear of the cave each time (ignoring respawns, at some point) I got 5 stacks of Frostweave and 2 of Iceweb Spider Silk.
I plan to go back on my L85 with skinning and do it some more. We'll see how the cloth drop rate changes.

I may be completely wrong but I think that the
布匹搜寻
helps more than it seems. I was farming embersilk in Tol Barad on my priest, which has the Northern Cloth Scavenging, and I thought that it was the best place ever because I got 250 embersilk in less than thirty minutes. Well I came back to the place that seemed so incredible on my priest but this time on my hunter, which did not have the cloth scavenging thing, and farmed for around 8min. and I barely got a thing. I logged out switched to my priest and went and tried the place again and it was as great as before.
I don't know if there is a passive tailoring spell that might be doing that or if the Northern Cloth Scavenging really does do more than it says but this was not a coincidence.

I have found the Holy Grail of all Frostweave Farming locations.
I read all the comments, some places were good, but I simply don't have the patience to get a few cloth here and there, especially on a PvP server with gankers.
Cathedral of darkness is NOT that great.
Without anymore blabbering...
Step 1:
Head to Naxxramas on 25 Player difficulty; Save yourself past the 1st boss of the Plague Quarter by defeating the first encounter.
Note:
If you are not level 85 or higher but wish to farm this, you may need a helper
just
to defeat the 1st boss
one time
in a given week and then you can feel safe to continue solo farming.
Step 2 (The fun part):
The bats after 1st boss can be mass pulled at one time,
ALWAYS
dropping between 30 and 40 (sometimes 50) Frostweave in ONE pull! This is
without
the Tailoring bonus for extra cloth! Those with the Tailoring Profession can expect anywhere from the same to far greater results.
Note:
Remember to loot the corpses multiple times, as sometimes so much cloth drops that it does not fit in the 1st loot window thanks to mass looting.
Step 3:
Afterwords, run out, reset the instance, and then switch the difficulty to 10man (Don't worry, this is a
one time
difficulty change, and you will stay on 10 man the rest of the week.)
Now run in, mass pull bats, loot your crazy amounts of cloth, run out, reset instance, repeat!
* Not kidding I got upwards of 10 to 15 stacks in around 10 minutes
without
the
布匹搜寻
bonus!
*
For the seasoned and hardcore farmers
, I recommend keeping a stack of
暗水药水
on you for all your runs to truly get the most cloth for your time spent. (
Note:
this is
completely
optional and not required by any means.)
* On a side-note, you can also expect to grab quite a few pieces of random gear, ranging from high vendor greens, to high AH price BoE epics!
- Obviously you'll then have a waiting period since you can't enter more than 5 times in an hour, but oh lord is it AMAZING! Forget these places people are saying has high drop-rates, this is quick, painless, in/out, immune to PvP gankers, and anyone level 85 and up can do this, which I'd assume you would be if u expected to farm Northrend mobs fast in the first place.
- As you're waiting for 5-Instance/hr limit to reset, you can be using your cloth for leveling that pesky Tailoring, making bank on the Auction House, or slow-farming some of the suggested places from other users in your down time, and as soon as the hour is done, hit up Naxx again for more loads of cloth,
as often as you like all week!
Please try this out
, and Up-Vote if it helped!
EDIT:
Created an easier to follow step-by-step. Do not worry, both steps 1 and 2 are to set up your cloth farming for the entire week. After you have done the 1st two steps, you can enjoy an entire week of running in and out of Naxx collecting you cloth by the truckload without any additional steps.
EDIT:
As posted below in a comment that was down voted (don't know why)
You do NOT have to continuously switch between 25/10. The reason for this is very often (as some have seen) simply running out and resetting the instance without changing difficulty sometimes does not reset mobs if you are saved to that raid. By starting on 25 just 1 time in a given week, then switching to 10man and resetting, it seems to avoid the mob reset bug that some of you have experienced. After the first switch, feel free to stay on 10man for the rest of the week.
Finally:
A BIG THANK YOU
to all you Wowhead users for getting this post to the #1 spot! Even though I've just discovered this late into patch 5.2, it's great to see the community is always out there looking to improve the gaming experience for others!

Stopped by Snowblind Hills in The Storm Peaks, Northrend while questing on my monk. It seems that Savage Hill Scavengers drop 4 Frostweave Cloth each when they do drop it. Every 3-4th mob usually drops from what I can see, so the average is around 1 cloth each mob you kill I guess.

Plague Quarter - Killing

Construct Quarter mobs up to and
not including
Patchwerk
(don't kill him so you can reset mobs leading up to him)
Rinse, Run out, Reset, and Repeat
Your ilvl <370 (Lvl <83): seek out
Converted Hero
in the Icecrown zone. (<-click for map)
Your ilvl 370+ (Lvl 83-89):
Cathedral of Darkness
in the Icecrown zone. Chosen Zealot groups - Lvl 80
elites
(500 cloth/hr with
scavenging
)
2 groups of 24 (aggro one mob will pull its entire group) better than converted heroes because they're faster to farm.
You cannot root/snare these mobs!
They take exactly
2 minutes
to respawn, only about 30 sec downtime between groups. (which I filled with cloth bolt crafting and d/e'ing)
I spent 2 1/2 fairly solid hours farming zealots on my
Scavenging Tailor
, killed 2500 mobs and got 1500 cloth
I also looted everything, vendoring greys via
tundra mammoth
as my bags filled, and D/E'd all greens which netted me, 175
Inf Dust
, 35
GC Ess
, and an instant 1k loot/vendor gold.
Edit: Ask and you shall receive! Indeed, Smackthekids had a helpful guide here, for killing bats in Naxx, before I - so reroute your gift baskets his way!

I quickly became discouraged with the cathedral of darkness, as I was waiting about 1minute 30seconds on downtimes when the mobs respawned. So I did this.
After you clear the cathedral, fly up to the front gate/dungeon entrance of ICC. Periodically, a
Pustulent Horror
and a pack of
Vicious Geists
will come and attack the NPCs outside of the citadel. If you go and AoE the geists and pustulent horror, you can easily steal them from the NPCs. Their cloth yield is -great- (average about 5-10 cloths per pack) and you'll get back just in time to find the cathedral all respawned. No time lost!
These aren't always up. So if they aren't up, you can run to the death knight initiates right next to the platform to the East and kill those instead. They don't really drop a lot of cloth if any at all, but it gives a chance at some more greens, something to do, and on your way back you might find a pack up.
Doing this, I got 230 cloth (without cloth scavenging) in an hour. It was a great way to farm the 1200-odd cloth you need for tailoring.
(Note: this was done with epic flying. 150% flight may or may not be time-saving.)

The best place i have found for farming Frostweave is Icecrown.
I just fly around and look for the big groups of converted heroes and kill them. I averaged 5 frostweaves per group and even managed to get 12 from one.
I walked away with 8 stacks in under 30 minutes.
My circumstances were: I had Northern Cloth Scavenging, I wasn't competing with anyone else (but the re-spawn rate is so quick and the area so large it doesn't really matter) and I'm a lvl 89 Paladin. Nothing special.

The best place I've found to farm
Frostweave Cloth
(speaking as a lvl 90 Shadow Priest) is the Cathedral of Darkness in
Icecrown
(entrance @ 45,77).
Chosen Zealots
kneel along the tables on either side, and once you aggro one of them, the rest on that side will glom onto you in about 10 seconds. At 90, these are easily wiped out with a few applications of
Mind Sear
. I like standing as close to the middle candelabra as possible to attract them evenly. From the beginning of the "fight" until that group respawns again is about 2 minutes and 30 to 40 seconds, so you have time to run to the door, summon your
Traveler's Tundra Mammoth
and sell the junk, DE drops, and craft bolts of cloth. I've found this farming location to be VERY lucrative. The average gold looted per group is about 5g, and the junk is
well
worth selling. Oh yeah, and I got 15 stacks of cloth in 20 minutes. This may work well for non-tailors, as (according to rumor) the tailoring cloth drop bonus is only applied to humanoids, not undead.
Hope this helps.

Frustrated with not being able to find a superb place to farm Frostweave Cloth I decided to do a little recon of my own. I focused on the Ice Crown area. Using my lvl 90 Disc Priest I came up with the following data. Please note that your own experience may vary, I had not completed any quests in the Ice Crown are and that may factor in to weather you can farm a certain area or not.
Please Up-Vote if this was helpful!
The best place for me was The Savage Ledge, 37/24. It's a small area with a constant re-spawn rate, I could not kill everything without more mobs spawning. In 15 minutes I had:
60x Frostweave Cloth
2x Blue
4x Green
40g Vendor trash
30g Dropped by Mobs
The Shadow Vault, 44/24. 15 minutes, Very Slow re-spawn rate:
18x Frostweave Cloth
5g Vendor trash
5g Drobbed by Mobs
Aldur'thar: The Desolation gate, 15 minutes, very quick re-spawn rate:
27x Frostweave Cloth
7 Green
25g Vndor Trash
15g Dropped by Mobs
Mord'rethar: The Death gate, 5 minutes, after killing everything I got tired of waiting around for re-spawn:
9x Frostweave Cloth
1x Green
10g Vendor Trash
10g Dropped by Mobs
Cathedral of Darkness: I came back to this place SEVERAL times to try to farm here. I could not due to the fact that everyone else was competing to farm here. Apparently it is very popular so I had no luck here.
Forge of Souls Dungeon - 10 minutes to clear
20x Frostweave Cloth
3x Green
78g Vendor Trash
10g Dropped by Mobs
Pit of Saron Dungeon - 30 minutes for full clear
34x Frostweave Cloth
10x Green
86g Vendor Trash
20g Dropped by Mobs
Halls of Reflection Dungeon - 20 minutes to clear
14x Frostweave
2x Green
76g Vendor Trash
6g Dropped by Mobs

I definitely agree that the Converted Heroes in the valley just east of Ymirheim in Icecrown is the place to farm this. My 86 mage with northern cloth scavenging can get nearly 3 stacks in about 10 minutes consistently. It's a great way to spend time while waiting for dungeons to queue up, too!

After going through several of the comments and trying out several of the locations listed, this is what I surmised:
1. The drops for frostweave cloth, even for a tailor with Northern Cloth Scavenging (like me), are extremely low, while the amount needed to level tailoring is ridiculous.
2. For the reasons listed above, buying on the auction house, at least on my server, means paying at least 50g a stack and when one does the math and realizes how much money they're going to have to spend to get through WotLK tailoring, farming seems like the better alternative.
The best area that I've found for someone below level 85 and at least a level 80, Onslaught Harbor (as many have said) is a great area. There are quite a few mobs, they respawn fairly quickly, and they're confined to a reasonably small area. Almost anything that you kill will yield at least 1 frostweave.
That said, if you are a level 90, definitely go to Cathedral of Darkness. The respawns are insane and you can pull them in large packs, no problem. You will pick up a lot of vendor trash, though, so you might want to clear your bags first.
Bottom line: while questing through Northrend, you will pick up a decent amount of cloth, but not enough to finish tailoring. My advice is to wait until you are a higher level (above 80), the go back to Icecrown to get all your frostweave. It's much easier this way.

Firstly Id like to thank all the Wow-Headers out there that have added such amazing input on gathering everything from Frostweave Cloth down to Spices! I truly appreciate everyone!
Onto to important stuff! I found that as I was grinding Alliance Vanguard Rep in the Pit of Saron (and as a 90 Worgen DK w/ Tailoring) I was gathering at least 6-7 stacks of Frostweave every run.
Easy way to get the Cloth and the rep is to run it on HEROIC, BUT DONT KILL THE BOSSES. Kill all the mobs in the center, then run out and reset. Rinse and Repeat :) If someone else has alreay said that in this thread, im just bringing it to the top :D

Cathedral of Darkness
. Within 30 mins I've collected 10 1/2 stacks. I did try

I also had trouble thinking my reset had not worked when I first tried this earlier today. So, for those who seem to have trouble getting the reset to 'take' -- Remember, the initial spawns do not reappear on reset, so you will not see anything to fight until you get to the area after the 1st boss.
Immediately upon re-entering the instance try the hint given a few times below about using a macro: /tar plague If the reset has been successful it will target one of the plague bats past the 1st boss's area and you will know it's worth the trek in to kill them and get your Frostweave!
Once I realized I was not going in far enough to see the reset, I was able to complete 5 runs through today. The longest part of the last 4 was the trip to Venomspite to sell the greens/etc. picked up in the process. In total I amassed 14.5 stacks of cloth and 300g! I do have the cloth boon from the vendor in Howling Fjord.
Many THANKS to smackthekids for this great farming idea and to everyone else who confirmed and added their own bits of info. Good Luck you you all~

If you are 90 lvl the best place for Frostweave cloth farming (at least for me) is The Pit of Saron on normal. When you enter just mount up, start running through the mobs between Ick and Garfrost (I uploaded a map where I marked where you have to run and gather them I don't know if WoWhead will approve it but if they will it will be a great help for everyone). Gather them up and AoE them. As 90 lvl you will kill them almost instantly. I am Frost Mage and the whole run took me one and a half minute. after that go out and repeat (don't bother with the bosses). Do this 5 times (because this is the limit of dungeons you can do per hour). It will take about 6-10 minutes (depends of your class). I gathered 340 frostcloth (with northrend cloth scaveging) which is ~70 cloth per run. I don't think you will find any other place where you can gather 15-17 stacks for less than 10 minutes. And also you will gain 500-600g from trash items. Just autoloot everything.

Everyone says to go to Icecrown or run dungeons, but there's another spot that's better if you're lower level (did this at 74 while questing). Go to Zul'Drak at 33:79. There are 6-7 Rageclaw Hunters attacking Drakuru Blood Drinkers and Drakuru Berserkers (about 3 mobs at a time). You just have to tap each enemy mob once and the loot is yours, plus they respawn immediately. Takes about 15 seconds to kill each group and you can get up to 4-5 cloth per group, although the drops are not consistent so sometimes you will get none. I was able to get several stacks fairly quickly.

战斗号角
, and Northrend Scavenging, making it safe to proclaim that for tailors with all the perks, this is Frostweave nirvana. Until the day Blizz spoils the party (nerfs), this is where I get my frostweave.
I timed 25 minutes of farming and as of today, was able to score 197 cloth off 9 mobs ranging between 17-33 cloth per mob, about 5-7 greens in all for my enchanter to take care of, even the junk you sell to your mammoth vendor nets you lots of gold. I counted 177 gold in trash I sold...The disenchants score
无限之尘
, which tailors combine with
霜纹布卷
to make
魔化霜纹布卷
. Each bolt, at least on Proudmoore, goes for over 30 gold currently....In 25 minutes, I make 19 imbued bolts and add 3 more cloth from the auction house to complete the stack, I sell 4 stacks of 5 x 31g each cloth for total of 620 gold plus the junk.
The Battle Horn is great because you just stand in the middle of the room, hit the horn, then entire room comes to you, throw out a few lock
腐蚀之种
as the
天选狂热者
run toward you (dismiss or passive your pet), drench the crowd in
火焰之雨
, the seeds pop and the whole room dies at once. Then they respawn at the same exact time, hit horn.....you see the pattern.
I am probably missing out on something better, but my bank alt is almost full now and I am dreading the day where I have to unload and flood the auction house, so these numbers suit me fine. Happy Farming.
One more thing. I have made it a habit that if I see alliance already farming the area (or horde if I am on my horde toons), I ask how long, then come back when they are done. There is really plenty to keep us busy. I like to farm uninterrupted and hope to receive the same respect I give so the amount I farm isn't cut in half. Be courteous and ask. If it catches on, we will all benefit.
Update 8/8/14: So remember when I said, "Until the day Blizz spoils the party (nerfs), this is where I get my frostweave," about 15 or so lines earlier? I should have never committed like I did because now I am writing this, an equivalent of a newspaper retraction after not getting the facts straight.
Forget this location and click this link to the REAL frostweave nirvana. If you sort the comments by
highest rated
, this comment comes in at the top. And for a really good reason.

The link is actually in this thread if you hadn't noticed the item ID. It is by no means a landslide, but for those who value their time, desire to invest that time into farming cloths, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY
want to do so alone and unfettered, with no chance of interruption by anyone
, this is now the new hot spot. The kind of post that makes me think, "DAMN, why couldn't I find that first!" Once you get a pattern down, this becomes a very easy farm and as mentioned, noone can cut in on your cloth intake, which seems to make this spot more attractive than jousting with other toons in the Cathedral. Check it out!

Thank you to everyone for posting areas to farm frostweave. I'll add mine. I spent 45 minutes around the Desolation Gate in Icecrown and got 10 stacks of frostweave, a dozen greens, and about 50 in gold.

Howdy, all!
For those farming
霜纹布
, Check out Zul Drak out by Rageclaw Den @ coords: 33.4/79.7. The Berserkers & BloodDrinkers come straight at you, to you, and practically deliver the goods to your feet. I farmed for 10 min and had 81 stacks of
霜纹布
. You pick up a lot of garbage, too, but stacks of
厚皮衣碎片
may be Gray items, but the sell for 10G each and the rest can easily net you (as they did me) an extra 300G just in farming.
See the screenshot for the best place to sit while the goods come to YOU!
Happy Hunting!

A very good place to farm frostweave cloth is the instace Pit of Saron on heroic difficulty, each run yields upto 10 stacks and the minimum i have had were 5 stacks.
The added bonus of Pit of Saron is that you have a chance to get
Battered Hilt
.

You can't even give these away. On my server they go for next to nothing and one guy must have 300 stacks listed in the auction house. My advice would be to simply vendor them.

By far the best farming spot now for 90's is Naxx, 1200 frostweave/hour
Step 1. Go to Naxxramas in Northrend and set the raid difficulty to 25 before you go in. You can do this by right clicking over your own portrait.
Step 2. Clear the first part of the Plague Quarter and kill Noth the Plaguebringer. Level 85-89 players might need to ask for a friend's help to kill the first boss. You only need to kill it once, so it would only take a couple of minutes.
Step 3. Kill every mob after the first boss, you will find mostly bats there. This is the room where you will come back after you reset the instance. Don't kill the second boss!
Step 4. Run out. Reset the instance by right clicking over your own portrait and click "Reset all instance" then switch the raid difficulty to 10 man. You don't have to switch between 25 man and 10 man from this point.
And best thing is there's no competition as its instanced.
Enjoy :)

If you want to farm for frostweave forget icecrown or The Storm Peaks. Just find naxxramas. im a tailor but when i find up to 15 frostweave on one or two or three fiends then thats awesome and i havent found anything close to that number anywhere in northrend. so go and try it. you will never regret it.But i should tell you that im doing naxxramas alone with a lv 90 monk so if you have a charater that can do the job alone just do it. thats my advise....

I don't mean to be a party pooper but this is not exactly as easy as it sounds. You need to be very familiar with Naxx before you go, and you need to have a certain level of equipment as a 90 MDPS or you're going to have an interesting but not necessarily productive time. By all means set the level to 25, or 10, or nuclear destruction, but to get to the plague quarter you're going to need to deal with some mobs that are immune to 90% of what you've got. Why did it have to be gargoyles? I hit them with 100K crits and made little impact. Hmmmm. Must be my connection, right?
My DKs remember Noth the Plaguebringer fondly and it was fun to kill him with 9 other well-geared players. You'll be able to kill him with a 90 in decent gear but plan on spending about 30 minutes on that one battle. But after all, the rewards are....uh...disappointing. Level-appropriate, remember? That would mean pretty much worthless unless you DE them but we're after Frostweave here.
I love these old battles and an amusing trip down memory lane. This particular Monk of mine is about 500 item level and I wasn't really in danger of dying, but I was in there for a long time, blowing through potions (except while in battle and you're in battle about 110% of the time) and using every cooldown in the book, learning new things but.....mostly just killing hundreds of pretty tough mobs over and over and over again. Kind of like Groundhog Day and not as interesting as Edge of Tomorrow.
But I did get 10 Frostweave Cloth. 10. TEN. Hmmm. Money-back guarantee? Dix. X. ten. Wow. Ugh.

I have found Naxx to be much slower and more more problematic than heroic 5 mans. Pit of Saron has been the most lucrative. Very easy to gather up the whole first room of trash, 3-4 stacks of cloth, then reset.

Level 90 Combat Rogue, 30 Min Run of Naxxramas, Enter as 10 man, Kill the boss, Kill the bats and worms, Leave! Reset the raid, Enter As 25 man heroic every time Now And Dont kill the boss after the bats and worms that drop frost cloth
or it will not reset the worms and bats, Just the first boss in the blue square room. I Killed this boss in 30 sec : /.
The buffs i had are burst of speed Movement speed 197, night stalker Talent, Movement speed 222 in steath.
Each run took me 2m 39 sec, start to finish. Thats about 12 runs, Patch 6.0.3 There seems to be no Amount of times you can enter in 30 min's...
I got Geen gear, blue gear, Purple gear,
Vendor trash,
I sold it all and got 489g
i got 700+ frost cloth. 200 stacks Going for 200g+ on my low realm, Beat this Run For frost Cloth any place and or class :)
Good luck, up vote this Please if it helped.
I sold my cloth and got 800g, thats 1289g in 30 mins. 2.5k an hour not to bad hmm....

I just did three of the top suggested methods and as of now, here are the results as a non-tailor.
Naxx Strategy:
About 40 cloth per run. Times varies as certain classes have better speed boosts. However its both a fairly long run to and from the entrance.
Pit of Saron:
About 30 cloth per run. I grabbed just the various groups in the general area infront of the entrance, as the skele's and other things don't seem to drop much and take longer to round up. Biggest pro is being able to mount.
Converted Heroes in Icecrown:
About 1 cloth per 3 groups...Utterly worthless, even with the ability to fly, as their slow buff and space between groups add to the annoyance of farming them.
So, Pit of Saron seems to be the best method mentiond, though I haven't tried looking for better places.

For those at a lower level than required by the highest drop rate zones, I found that the Kvaldir Mist Lords at Garrosh's Landing have dropped 20 in 10 minutes, so that works out to a pretty decent amount. Fairly consistent drop rate, no interruptions and lots of mobs that hardly aggro.

Ive been farming Pit of Saron for Frostcloth (since the Naxxramas method didnt seem to work for me) and made a 3-day-break from it and today i noticed that my frostweave drops became pretty rare, i made 4 runs now and only gained 29 cloth.
Anyone noticed similar? I always gained ca 30-50 cloth per run, so im bewildered.

February, 2015: If you sorted by newest, you might get me. Don't waste your time... resort to highest rated and BELIEVE "smackthekids". He's right on target. NAXX / Plague Quarter is the place to go. Everything in Icecrown has been nerfed, Pit of Saron is much lower drop rates than Naxx. Pay attention to his instructions - you only need kill Noth one time and DO NOT KILL the second boss or it won't reset for you.
Yes, I am a level 90 lock with maxed tailor/enchant skills. I will list what one 50 minute farming event (done per "smackthekids" instructions) netted me. I did one heroic 25 man run, reset the instance and did
five
10 man heroic runs with the following totals:
1. Four epics (all sold because d/e only nets useless nexxus crystals)
2. 1 Rare (sold on AH for 265g)
3. 41 greens (all d/e for 275 infinite dust, 43 greater cosmic essence, 4 lesser cosmic essence)
4. tons of trash sold for 659g (this includes the 4 epics)
and..... drum roll.....
5.
460 frostweave cloth
(you can do the math).
GOOD LUCK
(if you enter the instance a second time to find that the mobs on the first level did not respawn, do not despair... the room with the plague beasts, grubs and bats will have completely reset and that's your target area).

I've done the Naxx farming thing on an alt on another server last year and that worked well for me. Tried doing it again tonight and the bats, etc before Heigan (the 2nd boss) didn't respawn.

I'm dropping around 5 cloths per minute.

Frostweave drops have been nerfed throughtout all of Northrend. Did ICC 10 yesterday amd walked out with less than 60 cloth for the entire raid instance. Apparently, Blizzard did the nerf due to bot farming, however I think they took it way too far. They've made it nearly impossible to level tailoring. Bottom line? There is no good place left to farm cloth (and because of the Deathspeaker's Watch recommendation, the area is now so over run with farmers, no one can complete the daily quests there). I hope the Blizzard blues get a clue soon.

here
. Roughly 1 1/2 - 2 stacks of frostweave every two minutes. Good luck and happy farming! :)
Update: Adding the coords so you dont have to go to link. It's the Cathedral of Darkness in Icecrown - /way 43.9, 77.7

I will also put in my vote for the Cathedral of Darkness at 43, 78. Pro tip: use your Battle Horn that you get in Timeless Isle, stand in the middle of the cathedral (between the 2 groups) and it will draw all of them to you in one shot. By the time the mobs respawn, the horn is off of cooldown. As a level 100 medium geared ret pally, easy one-shot on all of them. I'm getting about 1-2 greens a pull, 5-10 frostweave and about 5-10g.

If you're looking for an *extremely* easy place to farm this, go southeast of Light's Breach in Zul'Drak to the big group of friendly wolvar, just south of Rageclaw Den (coords 32.9, 86.2). You can just park yourself there and pretty much endlessly kill the attacking Drakuru trolls, as even if you're one-shotting them they'll keep coming almost as fast as you can kill + loot.
Just 1 hour there netted me 315 frostweave cloth (with cloth scavenging...unsure if it boosts drops here since the trolls are undead, not humanoid). Perfect lazy farming spot, plus Light's Breach is right nearby to vendor all your greys when your inventory fills up.

.....gal through the Blackriver Logging Camp in Grizzly Hills resulted in a substantial reaping of frostweave cloth.
Assaulting orcs are scattered aplenty throughout the nicely packed ground. With their fast respawning rate one should have no problems (assuming one has a well above low 70s status)having less of a grind grinding out a continual supply of cloth.

Did several runs in Northrend for cloth, on Heroic, with Cloth Scavenging, and this is the results:
Utgarde Pinnacle - 25 cloth
Gundrak - 34 cloth
Forge of Souls - 41 cloth
Drak'tharon - 54 cloth
Pit of Saron - 56 cloth
Nexus - 74 cloth
Halls of Lightning - 109 cloth
Ahn'kahet - 115 cloth
Utgarde keep - 122 cloth
IceCrown Citadel - 170 cloth
Ulduar - 265 cloth
Naxxramas - 371 cloth
(keep in mind these are raid and takes alot longer to finish compared to the dungs)
Hope this info is helpful :)

Naxxramas "hack" still works for this as of 9.2, 100 cloth in a few minutes. You'll need a reasonably high level character for this to solo, 40+ I think as the raid is level 30.
1. Enter Naxxramas on 25 man normal.
2. Enter plague quarter (South East) and kill the first boss.
3. Continue into the next room and kill all the bats. You will probably only need to actively pull a few of them - they aggro in large groups. Do not bother going any further unless you need to complete the raid for the achievement or something.
4. Exit the dungeon either by running back out or creating a group and leaving party, whatever is faster.
5. Reset all instances from your player portrait menu.
6. Switch to 10 man and repeat. First boss will not respawn but the bats will.
Pretty close to exactly 100 cloth per run on a tailor. I'd have bought them instead but there were none available on AH when I needed some!
I'm not sure if starting on 25 man is still needed. I read that in an old guide and it's no harder than 10 man on a high level character anyway.
