I found, by accident, that if you are a miner the crystals show up on your minimap. Just something to help you find them.

Go to the northeastern end of the island. You'll find them in a rough figure eight around the hills there, on the ground, by the crystal clusters and usually surrounded by a group of miners. The miners don't hit very hard and are easy to solo. The elite patrols are another matter; steer clear of them. Most crystal vines are along the same path they patrol.

You are looking for big briarthorn vines that grow the nethervine crystals, growing randomly around the base of the large white crystals.

At level 80, you can easily grab these without aggroing anything.

Also, for Druids, you can fly close enough to get the yellow gear on the vines, grab 'em, and then fly out of reach if you do aggro anything. Doesn't force you to un-shapeshift.

Just a cute fact - there are four kind of peons in the same area (where you want to find the crystals);
- the working ones you see hammering away at the large white crystals
- the wandering & clueless miners
- the defiant & steaming mad miners
- the sleepy miners

But apart from that (for non 80 - 85's), keep browsing around the big crystals, they're pretty well hidden for the most part - just be aware that sometimes, looting the crystals will aggro the peons.
