If you wanna find about 4 or 5 of them in one spot, head to about 36,54

These are listed as drops from Disembodied Vindicator and Disembodied Protector. If they do the drop rate seems very low. If you don't want loot or XP you should ignore them completely.
You get the crystals from Etherlithium Matrix Crystal which are found all over the place (look at the map).
