I got this as a mage, it's supposedly BiS but it's a nightmare to use due to it needing to be in melee range.

Ugh, do not get this thing. You have to be right up on the targets and in raid that's almost never the case. What a waste of a pick up from my vault.

Demo Warlock, Mplus, Amazing Execute Trinket when needed..Totems on Atal..need to get one down fast! The packs of adds just melt if pulls are timed right. Only downside is having to get into Melee range for a second..worth it tho.

Why does this have a melee range?
Why does it damage the user?
Why does it slow the user?
Why does it have a casting time?

It does decent damage, but why is it designed to be such a pain to use?

If you use the trinket from outside 10y, you get the slow, the self damage and the cooldown. What you don't get is damage done to the target, even if you move in range a few seconds later. Fun fact: The game offers no way to determine your exact range to a hostile target.

The designer of this trinket must be some kind of sadistic idiot.

It mentions Mistweaver under the specializations that can roll and win the item. That is NOT true.
I wasn't able to roll need in Mistweaver Lootspec on Tindral. (And no, i didnt have it already.)

I often feel like the 10 yard radius the effect claims to have is a massive exaggeration. Perhaps this is due to hitbox inconsistencies?

It would be much easier to gage whether I was in the correct range or not if I only had some melee-range spells, but I don't. It feels especially terrible in raid. That, on top of the damage taken and 2 second cast time, makes me fantasize about sneaking on a different trinket.

this is intentionally designed to be inconvenient to use because it hits for absurd amounts.
At the end of m+ run a properly used Belor'relos will be 4-8% of your overall damage depending on your spec and the dungeon.
For comparison, most flat damage trinkets that are not inconvenient to use like Vessel of Skittering Shadows, Caged Horror, Corrupted Starlight etc will be 1.5-2.5% of your damage.

Belor'relos does 400% more damage than trinkets at the same ilvl, thats why it adds an extra layer of complexity. If you think being near the things you want to hit once every 2 minutes is asking too much of you, you can always opt to use something else. This is the only trinket this season that alters your playstyle at all, everything else is either 100% passive or can be simply macrod into your combustion button and forgotten about. Thats why it sims head and shoulders above everything else.

The self damage seems to be increased by other damage increases. So if it does 280k to yourself at rest with a 580k hit, hitting a target for 2mil will burn yourself for 1mil over 12 seconds as well.

This trinket has quite interesting interaction with balance druid's spell 自然的守护. If you cast that spell first and than use your trinket, it WILL heal you for quite a bit (at least 50-75% max hp if it crits or hits multiple targets). It also proc as healing from dot as well, dot ticks for example for 75k and healing is 15k. Try it for yourself, quite funny interaction, flame, that actually heals? :)
