The Coins of the Tribes (also called "Zul'Gurub coins") are lesser Paragons of Power from fallen troll empires. Each coin represents a seperate troll tribe. these various types of uncommon coins are dropped in Zul'Gurub. The coins can be turned in specific sets of three for the following repeatable reputation quests:

Before patch 1.11 the coins were also used to obtain parts of Zandalar armor sets.

In perspective, each of these coins is virtually worth approximately 25 reputation with Zandalar Tribe: you get 25 reputation from the quest and 50 reputation from the Zandalar Honor Token that you receive from the quest, which adds up to 75 reputation for 3 coins or 25 reputation per coin.

However, they are worthless on their own and must be turned in in their respective groups (as mentioned in the above quote from WoWWiki) in order to attain reputation.

As of Cataclysm these coins (unlike the accompanying bijous) can still be found in game; mostly in the inventories of people too late to raise their Zandalar Tribe rep or in the Auction House being SOLD by said people. The quests to turn these coins in have been removed from the game, making these coins completely worthless except to collectors.

Interesting side note: All of the buildings that used to rest on Yojamba Island have been moved inland, next to Zul'Gurub and are now called Bambala. If you look carefully on the ouskirts of Bambala, you will find a barrel floating in mid-air as if in water.
