Tested a 213 ilvl version. At first glance, the trinket text felt disappointing. Yet further tests at M15+ reveal, that the defensive capability of this trinket is very close to a 226 溅血之鳞. Getting the overcharge does not cancel the duration and effect, as it first seemed out of the description. Absolutely strong, even the LFR version

Insane for Brewmaster Monks. The absorb value is calculated post-mit, which means it's post-Stagger. It also applies to Stagger damage, so unless your total Stagger value is over 102,580, even a normal trinket will absorb every single tick while it is active, so there's no need to PB during that 8s, either.

I don't think it can be overstated how powerful this trinket can be. In the right situation a 213 or 226 Shard can easily provide more absorb than a 252 blood spattered scale would have during a pull. Though that doesn't make it superior in all situations, it's important to discern when the situation calls for one over the other.

It seems like a small absorb, but this is a reduction per occurrence of damage taken. During it's 8 second window there is no apparent limit to the number of damage occurences it will absorb. This applies to mostly anything you can think of from direct enemy attacks and casts, as well as ticking debuffs and bleeds on you.

The more frequent your incoming damage is. The better the absorb you'll see over the 8 seconds. Even on a single elites or bosses if a Mask's Rage cast, or an iron spikes is incoming you can absorb a nice bit of damage. However if you are sitting at critical health and press this before a hateful strike, crush, crunch or reaping scythe you will absorb very little and probably still die. Blood spattered scale's large and upfront absorb is more suited towards a single big hit or bouncing back from any moment of criticality. Shards trickle absorb is better to press early to help you stay healthy for longer.

Running both the Shard and the Scale together in mythic plus dungeons gives you an answer to almost any type and distribution of incoming damage as the situation dictates. It's been game changing for me, on vengeance demon hunter. Seeing how powerful Druid's Incarnation is right now, metamorphosis is comparatively weak and short for a 3 min cooldown. Having 2 extra buttons to press now feels much better.

Outside of anything other than high end M+ or boss fights, this trinket might as well say: On-Use: You are invincible to attacks from the front for 8 seconds. :P

How exactly does the damage reduction work given that it's a flat value and not a % of incoming damage?

If I'm going to take for example a hit for 2000 damage, and my i226 version of this "reduces damage I take from enemies by 5,128", do I just take zero damage?

If the incoming hit was for 6000 damage, do I just take 872 damage?
