I already had a copy of 食谱：海 from the Crabs near Jandvik. For some reason it had dropped twice, so I had two copies of it in my Inventory. I was trying to farm the Recipe: Turf item from the does and stags in Crimson Thicket as listed in the other comments. I pretty much committed genocide on the deer population of Crimson Thicket, but never saw the drop. I was ready to quit when I noticed that I had the two copies of Recipe: Surf... I destroyed one of them. The next Stag dropped Recipe: Turf. Looks like there might be a minor bug there.

You must already have completed 猎隼止声 and learned 食谱：油炸藓鳃鲈鱼 before this will drop for you. I farmed in Crimson Thicket for over an hour with no results. Did the quest and came back; looted three copies off a group of seven deer.

I got two copies of Surf just doing the quests in Jandvik. I came here to find the other half and flew to the Crimson Thicket and started slaughtering Heartwood Stags and Does. The recipe wouldn't drop. I was about to give up when I was running around and I saw a Leyscarred Stag and decided to kill it. Bam: recipe dropped. So it's not just the Heartwood mobs that drop it.

Actually after killing 15 Stags, I killed one Doe and the recipe dropped.

Just adding my findings;
I grouped up about 10 stags and does, AOE'd them down, and got the recipe in about 2 minutes after landing at the Crimson Thicket flight path.

About 10 kills for me. Killed every deer I could find. Dropped from a stag.

Took me about 9 Doe kills in Crimson Thicket to get, very easy to obtain.

As of right now this item is no longer showing up properly in my bags. It just says "Retrieving Item Information" in red and I cannot learn it nor destroy it.

Not sure if this is a glitch post some change done after last night, but it wasn't doing this last night.

I was holding onto my extras because I assumed you could craft Rank 2 and 3 using the set again, but then I learned you get it from Nomi.

Regardless, currently bugged on my client. Not sure if it's a server side issue.

I just wanted to add it took me a good amount of kills to farm this from the Doe's and Stag's. I honestly was starting to wonder if this thread was trolling lol. I'll eventually drop, I promise.

After reading these comments I figured Darkheart Thicket was the only place to get the recipe off of the Heartwood Stags and Does. But, I was way up north near Irongrove Retreat and I figured I would try the Sablehorn Stags and Does there. Killed 2 stags and 1 doe. It dropped off the 3rd kill. So apparently it isn't just the one type that drops it.

Confirming that the stag and does in Suramar is the place to go. Got the recipe on my first kill. Just fly to the fp that Woodland Thicket and kill the first one you see.

Contrary to a lot of the earlier info, the turf recipe will drop even if you have multiple copies of the surf portion. I had 2 in my bags, and the turf dropped from a shieldscar stag on about the 5th kill.

I just picked up Turf from Suramar Snarlers while farming for Lean Shank.

As posters have mentioned below, there are lots of them right around The Crimson Thicket Flight Master. Got it on the 7th kill.

Crimson Thicket is where I found mine, but it took me nearly 100 Heartwood kills before it showed up, so don't get discouraged.

Picked up today. Flew to Crimson Thicket (64,41) and hopped over the hill from the FP. Killed 1 Heartwood Stag and 2 Heartwood Doe's. Looted 5 Lean Shank, 3 Worn Hooked Claw, and 2 Recipes. Happy Hunting!

FYI: Probably obvious, but...
If you already know how to cook it, don't let these take up bag space like I (Um, I mean a friend of mine, not me personally!) did.

I cant seem to drop it from stags/does in Crimson Thicket, killed at least 50 and no drop besides lean shanks

Edit: I finally dropped it after 100+ kills, either they reduced the droprate or im the unluckiest man on earth

go to (64,41) in Suramar and kill heartwood doe should drop in less then 10 kills
