Another good place to farm these is in Stranglethorn Vail. The Naga there (on the coast directly to the West of Booty Bay) regularly drop clam shells - most of which contain Tangy Clam Meat. I've found that when farming with a level 60, a golden pearl will drop about once an hour here. Doesn't sound very appetizing, but you'll often pick up black and iridescent pearls in the mix.

Good place to farm them is the turtles in Tanaris on the southern peninsula. Probably 50-75 spawns out there that people don't go for much. (If you don't know where I mean, I'm talking about the furthest southern peninsula far past the pirates almost due south of the Hazzali Hive past the mountains.

The turtles are easy to kill, and drop likes of the speckled fragments that sell pretty well. I have to suggest that if you farm for a while, dont pick up the turtle meat or the tails that they drop, those don't sell well. Just fill your pack full of the speckled fragments and loot the clams looking for pearls.

I dont know if its luck or what. but i got 7 of these to drop last 2 days jsut doing quests in Zang. im not even famring them. Just tonight, I opened 10 Jaggal clams and got 3 of them. 2 in a row even. I expect price to drop way down if it hasn't already. They used to sell for 30g or more on my server. WIll prob be more like 5g soon, or even less.

They sell for 1G each now, which is the vendor price... I just vendor them now. Not sure why it changed so drastically, it looks like they are still used for valuable items, but they aren't worth listing.

I got a black pearl and a golden pearl of a big mouth clam. Dropped from one those elite giants in feralas, but i was doing that quest where you shrink them. I felt i was very lucky to get them both in one shell.

Drop rate is insanely horrible for me. I farmed about 100 clams from the areas listed above and got 3 black pearls, 1 iridescent pearl and a world BOE blue shield and not one Golden Pearl. Ended up just asking in Trade Chat for it and eventually someone had one. Cost me 5 gold.

Golden Pearl - These things are going up in price each day, I recently wanted to get Spellpower enchanted onto my weapon, everything was fairly priced but when i came to buy these things... 50g each on Magtheridon EU, checked a week later (today) 65g

the drop rate is indeed terrible, 3 hours of farming, 5 black pearls, 3 iridescent, 2 small lustrous and only then golden. The only reason to farm it is when ah is empty like in my case.

Found 1 after clearing the cave in the cave called Shalzaru's Lair. Its on the island south of Feathermoon Stronghold in Feralas.

Cleared the cave 1.5 times with my 80 death knight when i found one in a clam that drops there. It took me like 10 minutes. They have a nice respawn time

The reason some ppl dont have any luck at the naga cave is cuz the guards have a 1 in 60000 chance and the casters have a 1 in 70k chance. in duskwallow marsh the elder murk threshers have a 1 in 747 chance. u do the math.

I have been farming these in Azshara, Ruins of Eldarath.
Farmed 3x1 hr and these are the rates:

Hour 1
143 clams
- 1 Golden Pearl
- 4 Black Pearls
- 4 Iridescent Pearls
- 1 Small Lustrous Pearl

Hour 2
150 clams
- 4 Golden Pearls
- 6 Black Pearls
- 1 Iridescent Pearl
- 3 Small Lustrous Pearls

Hour 3
138 clams
- 6 Golden Pearls
- 8 Black Pearls
- 3 Iridescent Pearls
- 2 Small Lustrous Pearls

After all this seems like a good place to farm for pearls, if for one reason or another, you need some of those. The naga there are plenty and respawn very fast. They also tend to drop quite a few greens you can easily sell on AH or to a vendor and sometimes they drop some low level gems as well.

Farmed for 2 and a half hours, no gold pearls. 5 iridescent, 3 black, 1 small lustrous but not the gold one I need to level enchanting. I'm not gonna pay 100g for one from AH.

Just spent about 2 hours also in Shalzaru's Lair. Ended up with 174 clams. Got 1 golden pearl, 4 black pearl and 2 iridescent. Got the golden pearl after approximately 110 clams. I gave up on my 2nd pearl and bought one. Maybe 45g each for these isn't so bad a price.

Makes me cringe to remember vendoring these during Burning Crusade times because they sold for almost nothing.

I couldn't find any droprate for Golden Pearl from the Big-Mouth Clams, so I decided to count the amount of clams before I got one. I also got a Black Pearl, a Iridescent Pearl, and two greens.

It took me 59 clams before I had Golden Pearl drop. I farmed the nagas in Shalzaru's Lair, Feralas.

I farmed this in the cave, on the southernd island in Feralas. It only took like 5min when i aoed those and looted like 10 clams and opened and got 1 pearl. So just to mention to those who dont know, they are contained in Big-Moutch Clams.

Didn't keep track of time -> 51 Marks Huntard dropped 92 Giant Clams and got 2 golden, 7 Black, 4 Iridescent pearls. I gained about a level and a half as well as about 4 stacks of mithril ore, 3 stacks of solid stone.... I know I'll be back. Yes, the golden pearl is for enchanting arcanite rod :)

In Feralas, 15minutes farm 30 clams dropped and I got one golden pearl pretty fast farm I'd say for such a hard to drop item ^^

For Horde not wanting to make the trek to Feralas to farm the Feathermoon Cave, I highly suggest going to the Ruins of Eldarath in Azshara. The nagas have about a great drop rate for the clams that hold the golden pearls. I spent 5 or so minutes and got a black and a golden pearl.

Went to the naga cave to farm the pear and got one on my 48th clam and a 2nd one on my 119th also ended up with 5 black pearls 3 irdescent pearls and 1 Small Lustrous Pearl.

Just got my first Golden Pearl after farming for about an hour (+15 minutes if you take into account interruptions) for Big-mouth Clams on nagas in Shalzaru's Lair. Out of 114 Big-mouth Clams I got:
106 Zesty Clam Meat
5 Black Pearls
1 Small Lustrous Pearl
1 Iridescent Pearl
1 Golden Pearl (the last one that was dropped)

yea tried to farm here 2 hours not a single GP! crapy drop rate unless u have lots of time to waste i would suggest finding another way of getting Golden Pearls... well after searching ah and seeing they were going for 100g... i decided to go back and try again this time i opened them only in stacks of 20.

Okay i set out to that cave to farm 1 Golden pearl for the enchanting rod. About 2 hours later these were the results:

140+ clam meats
8 black pearls
4 iredescent pearls
1 Witchfury
several greens which i didnt even touch
and finally 1 golden pearl.

I would say if theres a pearl in the AH for less than 100 g, spare yourself the trouble and just buy it.

The drop rates in here are most likely lower than expressed by many of these people. After 1000 kills I had 1 golden pear, 7 blacks, and 4 of each of the other 2. Buy a golden pearl if you need one. This actually makes a decent farming area for a lowbie however due to the inflated prices of mats.

I decided to farm the pearls when i saw that they were selling for 140g per on my server. With my TOGC geared holy priest i literally oneshot instant cast killed every one of the mobs. By the time i cleared the cave, opened my clams and sorted thru the &*!@ i got, the naga like mobs were all respawned.

Still the place to go for the golden pearls. i was all alone, and the rare was there as well, as if no one had been on this island in weeks.

As a side note... it may just be my luck, but i went 3 full trips without a single golden pearl.. then got 3 in the next trip. the same thing happened.. i cleared 2 or 3 times without a golden pearl drop, then i got the others in a small window of time following that.

Just stick with it, throw on some miles davis and enjoy being able to be more and more efficient on each run.. eventually your bags will be full and you will wake up from your trance with 4 or 6 golden pearls.

Bleeding hollow US. farming done before lunchtime server.

The best place to farm these is in Feralas, on the southern island (the one out on the left side of the map). There is a cave filled with Hatecrest naga which drop big mouth clams on the northwest side of the island. These clams seem to have a good drop rate of Iridescent pearls, Black pearls, Small lustrous pearls and Golden pearls.

Tonight was my second time farming this area for Golden Pearls. My first time, it took about an hour to get one. This time it took only a half hour. These pearls fetch a good price on the auction house -- anywhere from 150-200g on my server.

My total loot is as follows:

1xGolden pearl
2xSmall lustrous pearl
2xIridescent pearl
20xRaw spotted yellowtail
53xFish oil
50xZesty clam meat

I farmed in Feralas, mentioned above, and while it IS a great place to get Big-Mouth Clams, that doesn't always equate to a lot of what you want to drop. Farmed for about two hours before I gave up, but I got:

Iridescent Pearl x 3
Small Lustrous Pearl x 2
Raw Spotted Yellowtail x 60~
Fish Oil x 80+
And maybe 7 greens that I disenchanted.

Maybe I just got unlucky, but you always have to take drop numbers with a grain of salt.

I hit the cave on dread and the first 2 clears give me a few normal pearls and one black pearl, after clearing a 3rd time i wanted to stop when i opened the 22 clams the last 3 clams gave me a golden pearl each, if i wasn't already laying down i would have fallen over /evillaugh

On Sylvanas, the AH price on Golden Pearl is from 150-400g. Thats crazy.
This "cave" that we're speeking about is a very nice place to farm gold :P

at lvl 80 they died too quick so you must wait for them to respond but it doesn't take that long

Got my Golden Pearl about 45minutes into the farming session.

The only thing I would do different on my next trip would be to go on my Hunter who has mining. I kept passing those 3 Mithril veins wishing I could mine them each time.

Went to the Naga place as the Gold Pearls were going for over 100g and I just needed one for enchanting.

I spent about 27 minutes farming them, and 10 mins to get there (I am horde, fly to Ferals, run to where the boat is, get on boat, jump off boat near island).

Opened 50 clams:

3 Gold Pearls
1 Black Pearl
55 Clam Meat

Also looted a few greens and a blue from the Nagas which I will DE for about 12g.

In total looted about 220-400g worth of stuff for 37 minutes work. Not awesome but better than spending 150g on a gold pearl.

I farmed in Shalzaru's Lair for about 1 hour today.
It took me about 7 min to clear the whole cave, including looting. (80 mage).

EDIT: Now 40 clams, no more pearls, so up to 40 clam meat.

Lol ive been looking thru all these comments and thought id add my own. As Jdxtheartist said its all a number game, sometimes it just works out better for some than others. dont get down if u dont get it right away.

Anyway Stats for my 30 min run (how long my druid buff lasted)

When I started a new character on a new realm with RaF, I made a DK, played through the quests and went grinding feralas nagas at level 58...
After I would say about 4 hours grinding spread over 2 days, I got:

Went to Isle of Dread to farm some Golden Pearls so that i could pimp my heirloom staff with the +30 sp enchant.
This is what my loot record shows:

120 Zesty Clam Meat

1 Icemail Jerkin (epic mail chest)
+ a bunch of vendor crap worth nothing..

Yes did that cave on my lvl 75 hunter after 50mins had 61 zesty clam meat, 3 black pearls
1 iridescent pearl, 49 fish oil, 3 green drops and just when ready to give up hey presto 2nd to last clam 1 golden pearl. Good spot very fast respawn

OK, so I have tried the naga cave in feralas.
This is what i got in ~ 50 min and 110 clams:

5x black pearls
1x small lustrous pearl
2x golden pearl
2x iridescent pearl

And loads of Zesty clam meat.

Lucky or unlucky? I don't know. All i know is that I'm so sick of those ugly nagas.

Here are my numbers from farming the naga in Feralas:

The golden pearls came on clams number 325 and 434. I should have just paid the 65g each on the AH.

Doumbek: 65 g is NOTHING! On my server they go for 185-200g each.
That's why I farmed them, not paying that much for my +30 sp on weapon :P

Out of 151 clams, I obtained 2 gold pearls. Just recently, I got 5 pearls out of 409 clams. The drop rate seems pretty consistent at 1.2%. It's not really worth farming unless they're notably expensive on the AH or you happen to have some level 44 alt you want to grind to 50 in the Isle of Dread or Azshara.

Call me a rebel but i don't like the cave... it's a good place but slaughtering lvl 44 mobs basically puts me to sleep after 20 min.

The fact is, none of the nagas "drop" the pearl, they just drop Big-mouthed Clam which is why we are there, so i thought i would do something slightly more challenging and way closer to a major city. It turns out that the 59-61 elites on the big island off the coast of Dustwallow marsh have a >>63-64%<< drop rate for the Clams that we all want!

They also have the added bonus of dropping a .2% chance epic axe and a .2% chance of a blue mace. Also, any greens they drop will certainly be high 50's Vannilla WoW equipment that DE's into Illusion dust and Greater Eternal Essence, both mats are in high demand and short supply because of heirloom enchanting.

Anyhow, I'm heading over there and trying it out, at the very least i can actually get real practice on my attack rotation for my DPS toon. I will update this comment with the results, in a while.

Also, the cave full of nagas is aproximately a 43% drop rate on clams, for comparison.

Update: ok first update.... DO NOT go try soloing Dr. Weavil just for fun. (map on his page does not show him on island but he is) You get to become his servant for 2 min solid, lol, at least at lvl 68 and then he just kills you when he's done with your ass. "CURSE YOU DOCTOR WEAVIL!" O.K. real update soon.

Real Update: Did a short run, collected just 40 clams. On a lvl 68 this place was way more interesting than the cave. The respawn times are just long enough that you would clear the whole island before respawn on a lvl 70 or higher toon, but at my lvl you can very easily waste single mobs and take up to 3 elites at a time if you want a small challenge.

I didn't watch my time closely but about 6-7 of every 10 mobs dropped clams. It probably took me about 20 min to grab 40 clams, not sure. I just wanted 40 to do a test run. 40 clams got me x1 golden pearl and x1 Black pearl. Obviously not a statistically large sample but the basic theory is clear... you CAN farm Big-mouthed clams nicely on this island in Dustwallow marsh and therefore get your Golden Pearls.

Oh ya... No epic or blue drops but off my very short run i had several greens drop and DE'd for Illusion dust x9, woot!

I'm curious as to whether or not the drop rate has been reduced; I set aside a few hours today to grind my enchanting up but got stuck on collecting the reagents for the Runed Arcanite Rod; that being the 2 Golden Pearl.

After about 5 hours; and well over a dozen clears inside the cave, around the cave, and back to the southern tip of Feathermoon Isle; I have yet to collect a single Golden Pearl.

I have well over 250 Zesty Clam Meat, about 9 Iridescent Pearls and a few Black Pearls and Small Lustrous Pearls.

To be honest; I've come to find that this arcanite rod has got to be the worst part about Enchanting and the biggest waste of time. Sadly, these Golden Pearls are selling for about 300g per on the AH (Skullcrusher).

Tried all of the above, and balancing ease of getting there, and ease of farming, the cave on feralas was by far the best.

Portal to Thunderbluff, FP to Camp MoJache, then head direct West - you can either take the boat and jump of as it passes between the two island or pop a walk on water potion and ride straight across (you will be across before fatigue is an issue).

In 2 hours:

In the first 30 mins i dropped 3 golden pearls

In the next 30 mins 1 golden pearl

Then non for the next hour

I was only there for the golden pearls, but I came away with about 300 zesty clam meat 9 green armor items, a few health and mana pots, and enough grey items to vend for about 20 gold

As mentioned above if you are a miner ther are several nodes in the cave that spawn to add to your loot, or in my case as a herbalist there are a couple of spots that spawn Purple lotus outside the cave - so another bonus.

Golden pearls currently fetch about 140 gold each on the AH on Aggramar, so thats 240 gold an hour saved, however it would probably have been as quick and more fun to do daily quests for the gold and buy them.

I "wasted" an afternoon killing approximately 800 Nagas in the Feralas cave (Shalzaru's Lair). On average, 25% of them dropped Big-mouth Clam's. Of the 200+ clams, 2 contained a Golden Pearl. 800+ Nagas, 2 Golden Pearls, definitely not worth my time. I'll have to just pay the 70+g at the AH for them.

So far, 216 clams, 0 golden pearls. If i was farming this on my main server, i would just drop 100g+ on the pearl off the auction house. But sadly i dont have access to thousands of gold that my main server characters do.

Another great spot to farm these is that beach with all the turtles on the southern tip of Tanaris. I found 6 in 1 hour along with around 8 black pearls.

Did a quick run on this island yesterday, collected 100 Big-Mouth Clams, got the following:

96 Zesty Clam Meat
1 Small Lustruous Pearl
1 Black Pearl
2 Irridescent Pearls
0 Golden Pearls

Went through the cave around 5 or 6 times

Golden Pearls are selling in Auction House on Terokkar at starting bids of 450G (Buy Now price 900g) upwards. Cheaper option to keep running through looking for a drop (only need 1 for my enchanting (Runed Arcanite Rod) so if any more found then will be putting them in AH to try and offset the cost of travelling back and forth to Feralas.

i went on my 48 rogue to farm for my enchanting rod, took about 40 minutes to get 60 clams, and on the 58th clam i got the pearl... also got the beacon drop quest which i gave up on due to lack of quests in feralas for alliance, so now i can get my robo chicken

also got 3 black pearls, few green drops

also got about 15-20 sturdy lockboxes for my lockpicking skill

I spent almost two hours farming and yet no golden pearl.
I could have spent those two hours questing and I would get as much money as I spent, in fact, much more.

Yes... the drop rate went down.. i sort of wish it would have went to the bottom comments first.. I was still with the fact that i am the least lucky person in the game.. and running out of the instance.. i had 4 clams left after getting over a hundred.. and 2/4 had golden pearls in them and it was the very last 2.

I just spent an hour farming on alcaz island on my 80 feral druid.

Not sure what the attraction to feralas is. I found nothing remarkable about the respawn rate of those nagas.

Ashzara has areas with a much better drop rate (I'd say 30-50% off the top of my head), more mobs to choose from, and higher overall iLevel of the items dropped.

After finding them on the AH for 300g, I chose to hit Aszhara in a spot I remember getting pearls from while farming a Stormshroud pattern back in the day. After about 100 clams and no golden pearl, I tried the cave in Feralas referenced here. After about 100 clams there, still no pearl.

Assuming the big mouth clams drop the pearl at the same rate regardless where farmed, I'd have to say Ashzara is a better overall area. There is a temple that houses Akkaroc (sic) and circling that plus clearing the inside with a lvl 80 provides a near constant stream of mobs that drop clams, with an occasional foray to the beach to allow a little respawn time. There may be increased travel time between mobs compared to feralas, but the larger number of mobs combined with better drop rate make this my area of choice for the time being.

I wanted to get 100 clams and see the odds there. Took about an hour and 15 mins (with lots of breaks, including making breakfast) with a 66 Mage on Wyrmrest Accord.

It was literally the last 10 clams that popped out the last 2 golden pearls! Lucky!

Okay, I just want to say, these are an awesome item to farm! On my server right now I can get more for these than I can any epic gem, any day of the week. I like to farm honor for epic gems, but I started farming these when I found out how much gold they are going for. Since golden pearls are need for the BoA sp weapon enchant, they are in high demand right now, and the extra gold right before Cataclysm comes out is pretty handy. I like to farm them on the little island by Booty Bay where all of the Naga are. There is usually no one else out there so not much competition. The spawn rate on the Naga is pretty fast so you never have to worry about waiting around for re-spawns (like the Dreaming Whelps...ugh), and I usually get quite a few black, iridescent, and small lustrous pearls along with the golden. All in all, a great place to farm if you are bored...good hunting!

Okay, after a night of bad luck here (and a little boredom), I decided to look and see where else would be a good place to farm these. Question: So the Elder Murk Threshers appear to not only drop the golden pearls, but also the clams that have a chance to drop the pearls. So technically, wouldn't you have the best chance trying to get the pearls off of them? Going to check it out myself : )

These were going for 250g on my server and not a lot of supply - so I decided to run the cave at Isles of Dread. I hit cleared the cave 4 times including the temple ruins on the beach and this was my haul. (My first haul was the most lucrative - the last run almost nothing - so a lot of luck I guess!).

I just read the comments and followed the path to Ferlas to the bottom island to farm the low level nagas. I ran with another 70 friend and after one run, a total of 14 clams we had:

13 meat
1 golden pearl.

Wondeful. On my server it costs 250+ for a golden pearl.

Its probably a coincidence but i went to the cave in Feralas got over 100 clams and got no golden pearls, then I tried Alcaz Island and got nothing there aswell, I tried Hinterlands (the turtlrs north of raventusk village) and got a golden one on my 5 clam.

I tried all the places on here i could find, the place below feathermoon stronghold, the place near theramore, but by far azhara was the best way to go. There was lots of naga and the drop rate for the clams seemed to be higher then anywhere else

I went to the cave in Feralas to see if I could pick up one of these. I wasted over an hour, clearing the place several times. I killed enough naga to get exactly 100 big-mouth clams. So I probably killed 200 naga, maybe a little more. What I got from these was 100 zesty clam meat, 5 black pearls, 2 iridescent pearls, and exactly zero golden pearls. I also picked up three greens and a blue.
Looks like it is a lost more effective to just pay the 70-80g they are going for on my auction house right now. The drop rate is outrageously low.

All I have to say is WoW! Golden pearls are going for about 17 gold on Silvermoon and I thought that was too high to pay for 30 spellpower. I guess I'll just have to bite the bullet and pay the 34 gold. It looks like farming is not an option for me, I can make gold much faster other ways and pay for these blessed things. I guess I live in another world, lol.

Important note: Golden Pearl is no longer required for Formula: Runed Arcanite Rod. Demand is gone and their price has now crashed, so there is little point in farming them.

I've just spend about a little hour farming the Sorrowmurk Snapjaw in Swap Of Sorrows and that got me about 30 clams with 2 of them gave a golden pearl. Wasn't looking for that though...XD

South-east of Gadgetzan, along the shore, is now a great spot to farm those : the only mobs there are Tidal Striders and turtles, and drop big-mouth clams at a nice rate. Happy farming.

A good place to farm these after the Cataclysm is Blasted Lands just like hpv1000 mentioned here. The place would be The Red Reaches, the nagas there have a high chance of dropping the Big-Mouth Clam from which you get the Golden Pearls, and they respawn fast. I spent roughly 30 minutes and got myself 4 Golden Pearls and some other kinds of pearls.

Farming Golden Pearls for the +30 spellpower enchant. Went to Blast Lands (as suggested in this thread).

Farmed 100 big mouth clams (however many nagas it took). Results were pretty bad, 1 golden pearl. Farmed another 100 clams just to see. Nagas die fast and respawn fast, you can kill/loot several per minute. Took less than 3 hours total (I didn't time it precisely).

So 300-400 nagas (didn't count). 200 clams:

3 Golden Pearl
1 Lustrous Pearl
4 Iridescant Pearl
4 Black Pearl
200 Zesty Clam Meat

Additionally:
255 Runecloth
4 green items for DE
4 Kum-isha quests (which award another green item each)
And a negligible amount of gold.

I remember having a toon parked permanently in that cave in feralas and making a lot of money killing nagas and selling those in wotlk, as someone said up there that cave is gone since the shattering :)

There is no actual way to farm Golden Pearls other than to try your luck, and sometimes your luck isn't good at all. I farmed 50 Big-Mouth Clams from the giants in Tanaris, which yielded 0 Golden Pearls. However, I farmed 46 clams from the Naga in Blasted Lands in about 15 minutes, and that yielded 4 Golden Pearls, 2 Black Pearls, and 3 Iridescent Pearls. Some nights are just better than others.

I have been farming for 2 hrs in dustwallow marsh on the elete island i have gotten 6 iridescent pearls, 8 black pearls, 1 golden pearl, jeweled amulet of cainwyn (epic neck), and Brain Hacker (epic two handed axe). at 85 i can clear this fast and its slow respawn rate.

Was farming Nagas in the Blasted lands. Killed about 100 Nagas, w/ a drop rate of about 60% of Big Mouthed Clams, and got 2 golden Pearls, 6 Black Pearls and 1 Iridescent. Was after Black and Golden Pearls so I was very happy with the outcome. Since I was lvl 75 it only took about 30 minutes of farming.

All of these are so old! These places that are listed don't even exist or aren't inhabited anymore!

But if you go to Tanaris and kill some Tidal Striders you will get lots of clams! Every 2nd one I kill I get a clam or so. After opening 6 I found a golden pearl.

I have no idea who all investigates where vs where vs where, but Tanaris isn't the best place to farm golden pearl. Blasted Lands, killing Nagas over the other side of the portal, is the best. I didn't keep track of how many clams I got, but i was only out there for 1 hour yesterday and got 4 golden pearls. I was out there today for less than an hour and got 5.

Farmed both the giants in Tanaris and the Naga in Blasted Lands for about an hour each, got 5 x Black Pearls and 3 x Iridescent Pearls, 57 x Zesty Clam Meat...and 0 x Golden Pearls. :(

The Red Reaches in the Blasted Lands is the best place to farm Golden Pearls; I got one off of a naga very quickly. If you are unable to see them, do not worry like I did at first! You need to speak to Zidormi at TomTom coordinates /way 48.2, 7.2. In other words, to the left of the main path just before it leads you into the Swamp of Sorrows. She will turn back time and change the zone into the original, low-level version and then the naga will appear in The Red Reaches.

Mistyreed Strand in Swamp of Sorrows also appears to be a viable source for golden pearls. I found one in the first two kills, then I got was sidetracked a short time later when I saw the Red Reaches in the distance, so I went there to finish farming. In all, I found the two that I needed in about twenty minutes.

Decided to farm for the Golden Pearls, and took about 1 hour of farming time.(8:42 PM to 9:43 PM server time.)
I used a level 110 Arcane Mage, specced with the 闪光术 Talent for the ability to blink around, and 时空转移 + 奥术弹幕 spam. For other classes, I may recommend the 生拌熊肉糜 food for the sprint buff. I never used Bear Tartare myself as a mage, so I don't know if they stack.
I was farming the Red Reaches area in southern Blasted Lands. I found the Bloodwash Fighting Pits to sometimes have a good spawnrate of naga, as well as the beginning area, Rockpool Village, following the line of baby murlocs carrying chests spawns from and made big circles between the two.

My yields were this:

Blasted Lands - The Red Reaches (southern coast). Killed Nagas to loot "Big-Mouth Clam." Opening the clams gives Zesty Clam Meat and has a chance to drop a selection of pearls.

If you are high level and there are no Nagas in The Red Reaches, speak with Zidormi at coordinates: 48.1, 7.3 and she will send you back in time to the old Blasted Lands. The nagas will then be spawned.

After farming for about 45 minutes this was my haul:

Runecloth: 318
Zesty Clam Meat: 224
Raw Spinefin Halibut: 31
Black Pearl: 7
Iridescent Pearl: 5
Small Lustrous Pearl: 3
Golden Pearl: 2

Happy hunting, this is just a standard RNG farm, you may be more or less lucky than I was.

My experience farming one of these:

First of all, it sucks. If you can buy one from the AH, do that instead. For me the char I needed it on is on a low pop realm and I couldn't really find any reliably.

Blasted Lands is superior to Tanaris. Drop rate is lower, but in Blasted Lands mobs are near each other so you can basically keep running around and looting. In comparison, the Giants in Tanaris are spread out AND in water, so that you pretty much have to mount up after each kill to get to the next one.

I looted 328 Zesty Clams before I got my first Golden Pearl. Looking at numbers others posted, this is very unlucky. On the way I also looted 12 Black Pearls, 5 Iridescent Pearls & 3 Small Lustrous Pearls.

Going to Blasted Lands to farm these is a waste of time. Just run Blackfathom Depths a couple of times; you will get tons of Big-Mouth Clam and 1-2 golden pearl per five runs.

Didnt take that long time to do like 30 minutes, just run up and down the row of murloc slaves, nagas respawn again before you get to end again.

Another thing might be useful, i needed the Pearls to a crafted transmog item but found out they also drop alot of old green items, maybe something something useful for others.

And around 2-3 Runecloth too.

So going there for pearls can bring more neat income with home if you dont need it yourself
