I've been noticing this theme by blizz on all the resto shaman gear, from greens on up. Crit, and lots of it, with a helping of haste every now and again. It confuses me, crit has always been a gimmicky healing tool, which works best when spamming low cost spells. I thought that's what Blizz
didn't
want.

What? the 4 piece is nothing like the t10 2 piece.
2 pc t10 granted haste on the next spell cast after riptide, and as a resto shaman, haste is paramount. I have never had a problem with mana regen, even after patch 4.0.1, maybe in cata the stats on gear will make the 540 spirit from the 4pc here worthwhile, but give me haste, or % faster casting any day.
EDIT: Anyone else think this set looks like lvl 60 warlock pvp gear?
For 4pc T11: 540 spirit with almost 100% uptime is something i see necesary. As for now healing is limmited by the mana pool, those 500 spirit can transform into 500 mana regen which in turn means more heals before going OOM.
And NO, HASTE IS NOT GOOD ANYMORE, we dont need to burn mana now with mindless chain heals, we need more healing from our mana, thats why crit>haste all the way, and from what i see in current dougeons a crit on a tank wont top it and the AA proc will be good used on it or a DPS that got hit by AOE.
Besides Riptide is the 2nd most mana eficient heal we have, why not use it?
For 2pc T11: 5% crit means more AH uptime and more AA procs, not even counting with the healing provided to you with the gliph and some theoricraf pointing it as "mana neutral".
And with new combat ratings 20% crit wont be rare so 5% more crit is a INCREDIBLE 25% improvement.

Seriously? Why even add mastery as a stat if you're not going to put it on any of the raid gear. This stuff has a mere fraction of of the mastery on my current green gear.

Wow, just wow, what's the point in comparing the T11 bonuses with the T10 ? Most of you guys simply consider T11 the next tier , but it's actually the first tier from Cataclysm , while T10 was the last from the previous expansion . So once again, what do you desire? Pure awsomeness from the first tier? Comparing them is just silly , if you want to do that , do it with T7 which was the first Wotlk set.

No, haste is a very desirable stat especially in ten mans. Mana is not that big of an issue as you think it is. Crit is currently our weakest stat, especially when we're running at such low levels of it. AA accounts for ~1-4% of our healing. Haste reduces the cast time of our heals, and allows our heals to hit before other healers, and also delivers our heals faster in clutch situations.
and the INCREDIBLE 25% improvement is ONLY to Healing Wave, one of our more underused spells in RAIDING context.

I use healing wave as spam. My spirit is such that by the time I've finished casting my second, my mana has regenerated from the first one, so its a nice heal (over 10k noncrit with sp buffs) and can just be used until something big hits. 5% more crit chance is like a free 20k+ heal with 3 sec cast.
I'm stoked for this set and Riptide granting 500+ spirit too? Awesome.
Plus the shoulders are a lot cooler looking than they were in ICC

I think the 2-set bonus might apply to Greater Healing Wave as well.
My spell crit chance, while buffed, is around 24%. Recount reported that 29% of both Healing Wave and Greater Healing Wave were crits. While other spells, which were not modified by any other source of crit, reported 24% crit.
I think some further testing is needed to confirm this though.

Coming from a shaman doing hard modes, the 2-piece bonus is really not that great. In a Heroic Halfus kill last night, I used Healing Wave once, full overhealing. And on Heroic Chimearon the night before, 0 cast on four attempts. I use every other spell though (not a CH spammer). Healing Wave is just too slow and too little to respond to the demands of Heroic bosses. I value haste more than anything.

The 2-piece bonus isn't going to be great. It sucks for almost every healer right now (increased crit for their basic heal). It's the 4-piece everybody wants from this -- a near-passive 540 spirit. In later tiers, they'll probably make the 2-piece more interesting. I think right now, they just want to plan ahead, so people upgrade to t12 when it comes out. (In WotLK, they had a problem where previous tiers had good enough 2-piece bonuses that they kept them several tiers in.)
All in all, this isn't a bad set. Reforge that Mastery over to Haste when applicable.

I personally enjoy the 2 piece bonus. Even in most heroic 25 encounters, healing wave finds its place. more often than not the target hasnt taken enough damage to warrant a GHW or HS, and a healing wave, let alone one with an increased crit, is more than enough to top someone off. Combine this with the 4pc bonus and spot healing is a breeze. Yes, theres always the exceptions. i dont think ive ever used HW on magmaw, reg or heroic, that would simply be ignorant. however healing wave on its own is perfectly fine for tank healing nefarian, with 2 healing surges (one if it crits) covering the breath. Just because the 2pc bonus isnt an incredibly massive boost to our healing, if you understand the extent to which it can perform then it can an equally useful tool, especially when 25 progression finds resto shamans gaining a much larger benefit from mastery than crit. Even stacking mastery the lowest it hits for me is 9k, and crits for 15k the vast majority of the time. Small? yes. Useless? Nay.

I Understand mostly where your coming from but in your argument you speak of mastery. If you didn't know, our mastery is affected and made stronger the lower our target health is, and vice versus, the higher your target health is the least mastery is appealing to us. Now bare with me:-)...
If your casting healing wave when ur target is getting low on health, u deserve to be smacked into a wall. And we all no, with current healing for all classes, that it is not very smart to keep every single player topped off. and on fights where you HAVE to keep players topped off, you'll probably be looking at a surge or even an unleashed weapons followed by a chain heal.
Like i said before, Healing wave has no value in in heroics or raids, and if a player is high enough or time permits where u can cast a healing wave, cast lightning bolts. That way ur not just casting ANY spell for the sake of casting a spell.
