Shadowlands Lore
Sylvanas Windrunner, fallen leader of the Horde, has pierced the veil between Azeroth and the realm of the dead, setting in motion a series of events that threatens to upset the cosmic balance between life and death.
In recent years, the machine of death has broken, and souls brought to the Shadowlands no longer go through The Arbiter, instead being sent straight to The Maw. As a result of this, The Maw and its Jailer have grown far stronger, while the other domains of the Shadowlands are becoming deprived of Anima, a fundamental resource in the Shadowlands. Sylvanas Windrunner has been working with the Jailer for a long time to inflict as much death as they can, and with each death and soul sent to The Maw, her and The Jailer grow stronger. Many innocent souls, including the thousands of civilians killed during the War of the Thorns, are now languishing in torment in The Maw.
As adventurers arrive in the Shadowlands, they too will be sent straight to The Maw, but their innate connection to Azeroth will save them from an eternity of torment within The Maw. However, some of their allies will be left behind, while the adventurers are tasked with exploring the Shadowlands to understand the realm of the dead and hopefully becoming strong enough to return to The Maw and save their allies.

Afterlives
Blizzard has produced another set of epic movie shorts for Shadowlands. This time the shorts introduce us to each of the four Covenants.
Justice or Vengeance? Bastion Zone Kyrian Covenant
A Visual Clue: Reusing a Scene Lore of DrakaMaldraxxus ZoneNecrolord Covenant
Serving the Wilds, Sacrifice, and Growth Ardenweald Zone Night Fae Covenant
Anima, Corruption, and the Good People of Revendreth Fate of Garrosh Hellscream Revendreth Zone Venthyr Covenant
New Zones and Maps
We will be exploring the expansion's namesake, the
Shadowlands
, in the next expansion. The Shadowlands is the area to which deceased mortal souls go to be judged, and then assigned to specific places to spend their afterlives, depending on their deeds in life:
Oribos, the Eternal City
is the arrival point for all souls in the Shadowlands, where they will be judged by
The Arbiter
, a being that determines where souls will spend their afterlives. Oribos serves as a nexus between the various domains of the Shadowlands and is a gathering point for power brokers, wheelers, dealers, and soul-traders, as well as serving as the
player's central hub
in the Shadowlands.
Bastion
is a kingdom of crystalline spires and pristine skies, ruled by the Kyrian covenant. Souls drawn to service are sent to Bastion by The Arbiter, where they examine their life's deeds and work towards a state of virtue, letting go of their life burdens and seeking ascendance.
Maldraxxus
is the heart of the military might of the Shadowlands, ruled by the Necrolord covenant. Although it is home to wicked beings such as abominations and necromancers, not all beings of Maldraxxus are evil, they are simply battle-hardened. Souls fueled by war who never yield and thrive in a survival of the fittest environment are sent here by The Arbiter and welcomed by the Necrolords.
Ardenweald
is an enchanted forest ruled by the Night Fae covenant. Serving as a dark mirror to Azeroth's Emerald Dream, Ardenweald is a place that focuses on rest, hibernation, and eventual rebirth of the soul. Souls deeply attuned to nature are sent here by The Arbiter, where they prepare for rejuvenation and rebirth.
Revendreth
is a land of dark secrets and gothic spires, ruled by the Venthyr covenant. Souls that are prideful or flawed in life are sent here by The Arbiter to atone for their sins and seek redemption through torment inflicted by the vampiric Venthyr.
The Maw
is the endgame zone of the Shadowlands, a swirling vortex composed of the vilest souls sent to the Shadowlands and ruled by
The Jailer
, a being who has never been seen before. The Arbiter only sends to The Maw souls that are considered to be irredeemable and a threat to the Shadowlands if left free. No one has ever escaped The Maw, and those that went to explore the vortex were never heard of again. The Maw is also home to
Torghast, Tower of the Damned
, the replayable endgame instanced feature.

New System: Covenants
Covenants
are a new take on factions for Shadowlands. There are four powers governing each of the areas of death in the Shadowlands. From The Arbiter's judgement,
souls are assigned to an appropriate Covenant to help them find a purpose in the afterlife
:
The
Kyrian Covenant of Bastion
governs over souls that served a life of service, offering them a chance to look over their past deeds and seek ascension to become a Kyrian themselves.
The
Venthyr of Revendreth
take over souls that were flawed or prideful in life, but can still obtain redemption. The Venthyr punish those who lived a life of sin, determining whether they are worthy of redemption in the Shadowlands.
The
Necrolords of Maldraxxus
governs over battle-hardened souls and rewards strength, while weaker souls become fuel for Maldraxxus' cosmic weapons. Those who are deemed determined, quickly rise to positions of power.
The
Night Fae of Ardenweald
accepts those with a deep connection to nature, using of the Anima in the Shadowlands to infuse slumbering spirits with the knowledge of old, and preparing them for rebirth.
Choosing a covenant is the biggest character choice in Shadowlands.
Each Covenant provides different signature and class abilities, a new System called Soulbinds, and even cosmetic rewards such as
covenant-themed armor with back details
and upgradable mounts. Those who want to change covenants will be able to do so at a steep price.
Covenants share four major features.
Soulbinds:
Within your Sanctum, you’ll meet three key members from your Covenant. You’ll be able to choose one of these to Soulbind with. Soulbinding allows you to gain access to traits that enhance your skills so that you can effectively combat all who stand in your way.
Adventures:
Put your tactical skills to the test by sending your allies into the Shadowlands and lending aid to your chosen Covenant by tackling the unique challenges facing them. You’ll need to be strategic about how you take on these combat puzzles, who you’ll send to face them, and how you’ll utilize their skills to claim victory.
Transport Network:
Players will be able to access a zone-specific travel network within their Sanctum. These travel networks are specific to each Covenant.
Kyrian: Eternal Gateways
Necrolord: Bone Deathgates
Night Fae: Fae Circles
Venthyr: Blood Mirrors
Anima Conductor:
Players will be able to enable additional content within the zone by investing Anima into activating a specific area.
Each Covenant will also have a special end-game activity unique to that covenant.
The
Kyrian
can access the Path of Ascension, which involves inhabiting the consciousness of a Soulbind, then helping them confront their own challenges.
The
Necrolords
build the Abomination Factory, where players can build their own Abominations.
The
Night Fae
are put in charge of the
Queen's Conservatory
, which has been compared directly to the farm from Mists of Pandaria.
The
Venthyr
can access the Ember Court, which involves throwing themed parties for distinguished guests.

Soulbinding
One of the exciting new systems for Shadowlands is
Soulbinding
, where you will become Soulbound to one of the NPCs of your chosen Covenant. You will gain access to new abilities while Soulbound with this NPC.
For more details about how the Soulbinds System works and how you will be able to customize your character's abilities through it, check out our guides.
Shadowlands Soulbinds and Conduits
Resource: Anima
Anima
is a resource native to Shadowlands. It fuels all of the realms of Shadowland, helping the Covenants keep their purpose. Anima will be obtained from many sources in the Shadowlands and used in the Covenant features. Although this does sound like Artifact Power from past expansions, Anima will not be infinitely grindable, with a set limit on how much Anima you can obtain every day. In addition, Anima is not directly used to increase player power.
For more information on how to obtain and spend Anima, check our guide!

New Mission Table Content: Adventures
For Shadowlands, Covenant Adventures are the next iteration of Missions. They are an abstract turn-based combat system that relies more on tactical ability management and less on pure RNG. As with previous Missions, Adventures is a system for offline progression, meaning that you set up what you want to do and the majority of advancement is done in real-time without your direct interaction. You can be working towards your goal while you are playing other content, and even while you are off-line. The system is available on the Mobile Companion App so you can collect and launch Adventures on the go.

New Endgame Content
The Great Vault
is the Shadowlands version of the weekly M+ Cache. You can now complete Raid and PvP content, as well as M+ dungeons to earn your cache. In addition, depending on how much of each content you have completed for the week, you can choose between multiple pieces of gear.
The Great Vault: Weekly Objectives and Rewards in Shadowlands

Shadowlands will be initially released with eight traditional dungeons. Four of these are leveling dungeons and the other four are at level cap.

New Raid: Castle Nathria
The first Raid of Shadowlands will be Castle Nathria, in Revendreth. Castle Nathria features ten bosses and will open for Normal and Heroic on December 8.
Castle Nathria Raid Overview
Torghast, Tower of the Damned
Torghast
is a tower located in the heart of The Maw, the endgame Shadowlands zone. Hosting the vilest souls to ever arrive in the Shadowlands, Torghast is a procedurally-generated, 1 to 5 person, scalable dungeon that becomes harder and harder as players progress. Due to its procedurally generated nature, you never know what you will find in Torghast, with levels and enemies changing every time you ascend the mysterious tower. Unlike previous challenge modes such as Mythic+, Torghast is not a timed event, allowing players to explore the tower at their own pace and obtain further rewards.
Torghast has at least two modes - Six wings for collecting your weekly important rewards such as
灵魂灰烬
and Twisting Corridors, an amalgamation of the challenges faced on the previous wings for cosmetic rewards such as transmogs. Access to Torghast will be unlimited, but the number of layers available to players will be time-gated initially.
Torghast, Tower of the Damned Overview
Anima Powers are temporary powers that you collect as you work your way through Torghast. They promise to help make the Tower a fun and interesting experience that is different every time you play it.

Legendaries: The Runecarver
Legendaries
will be returning in Shadowlands with an entirely new acquisition system. Developers have stated that although they liked how legendaries worked in Legion, they did not like their RNG-heavy acquisition methods. In Shadowlands, players will have access to the Runecarver, a being who created Legendary artifacts such as the Lich King's Helm of Domination and Frostmourne. If you bring it the correct materials, it can craft you a little something for yourself. And to get those materials? Professions!
Check out how the Shadowlands Legendaries System works and what else is changing for Professions in our guides:
Shadowlands Legendary Items Overview Professions in Shadowlands
PvP
In Shadowlands, PvP is mostly unchanged from its iteration in Battle for Azeroth, with features such as War Mode returning, but a much-request feature has been added back into the game: PvP vendors!
With these vendors, players can once again target specific items for PvP, as well as use PvP currency to upgrade their items. For more information on PvP rewards and additions such as the PvP vendors, check our PvP rewards guide.

Class Changes
As always, Classes are seeing baseline changes that will update and hopefully improve how they play. These changes also allow Classes to integrate smoothly with the new expansion systems. Many abilities previously removed or made into talents (the "pruning process") over the years
are now returning as baseline to players
. For a look at what will be different for Classes, check out our detailed guides:

New Leveling System in Shadowlands
The leveling experience is getting a complete make-over for Shadowlands.
Level Squish
With Shadowlands comes the
very first level squish in WoW history
. WoW has previously had two item squishes, one at the beginning of Warlords of Draenor, and one at the beginning of Battle for Azeroth. In Shadowlands, a level squish will be applied; players at the current level cap of 120 in Battle for Azeroth will be squished down to level 50 in Shadowlands, with the Shadowlands expansion level cap being 60.
Talent rows are unchanged with the same seven-row talent system that has been in the game since Mists of Pandaria. However, talents are now received at levels 15, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45 and 50.
For more information on the leveling changes, check our Leveling Changes guide!
Shadowlands Leveling Changes & Level Squish
New Leveling Paradigm
With the new level squish in Shadowlands, there is also a complete revamp of the leveling system.
This revamp created a streamlined experience between all expansions and helps new players get caught up to the most recent portion of WoW's history without them needing to go through extra loops. Leveling from 1-50 in Shadowlands is around 50-70% than it was to level from 1-120 in Battle for Azeroth.
Levels 1-10:
A new starter zone,
Exile's Reach
, is being added. Located off the coast of Stormheim, Exile's Reach will serve as a tutorial zone where new players will be taught the basics of WoW. Exile's Reach will have a storyline of its own, ending up in a mini-dungeon that will teach the basics of dungeons in WoW.
New players will go through Exile's Reach on their very first WoW playthrough.
Veteran players will be able to choose between going through Exile's Reach or repeating their chosen race's starting zone experience.
Demon Hunters and Death Knights will start at level 8. They continue to play through their own starting experience instead of Exile's Reach
Shadowlands Guide to Exile's Reach - Walkthroughs and Lesson Analysis
Levels 10-50:
After completing your starting zone experience, players will arrive at their capital cities for the next step of their leveling adventure.
New players will be sent to level through
Kul Tiras or Zandalar
, as Battle for Azeroth was the most recent expansion. This will help new players feel like they aren't left behind, ensuring they can get caught up to the most recent portion of WoW's storyline without having to go through additional loops.
Veteran players will be approached by Chromie, who offers players the chance to level in past expansions! You will be able to choose your expansion to level on, and change at any time, in case you need a change of pace. This feature, called
Chromie Time
, also scales zones from past expansions all the way to level 50, allowing players to complete storyline quests as if these were scaled for their own level.
Allied Race characters will start at level 10 and can go straight to either Kul Tiras or Zandalar or talk to Chromie to experience past expansions.
Chromie Time - How Shadowlands Leveling Works and Zone Expansion Level Ranges
Levels 50-60:
Once players are caught up on the new Battle for Azeroth's level cap, it is time to start leveling in Shadowlands. At the first time around, players will follow a linear storyline through all of the main zones of the Shadowlands.
After leveling a character to 60 for the first time, subsequent characters can be leveled either by repeating the Shadowlands leveling storyline, or through a new feature,
Threads of Fate
, which allows players to level through Shadowlands content by completing tasks like World Quests, in a similar fashion to the Adventure Mode of Diablo III.
Threads of Fate - Alt Leveling in Shadowlands via Adventure Mode
Heirlooms
Heirlooms have received significant changes in Shadowlands, the main change being that Heirlooms no longer grant bonus experience. However, Heirlooms are still powerful pieces of gear that level with you and will likely be better than anything you can pick up as you level.
You can find more information about Heirloom changes in Shadowlands in our Heirloon guide:

Mounts
Shadowlands brings with it many new mounts to collect. Some of these models are new spins on recognizable mounts, such as stags, boars, horses, unicorns,
which will be able to fly
, bears, bats, chimeras, cats, and even pretty devourers.
There are also some new mount species, with more insects added like moths and decomposers, as well as rocs, winged lions, giant beasts, and death wargs. There are mount types connected to each of the new Shadowlands zones, and many of those are rewarded via Covenant efforts.

Technical Updates
With all the exciting new things already uncovered in Shadowlands, a few interesting settings have also been snuck in, including
spell density options and gamepad support
!
The spell density options should go a long way to improving visual fidelity within the game. The gamepad support might lend more credence to the long-running rumors of eventual console support, or at least a wider range of accessibility.
Shadowlands System Requirements
Blizzard has released their recommendations for "minimum" and "recommended" computer specs to play in Shadowlands. Overall there isn't anything new besides Processor and Graphics Cards in each category increasing by 1 or 2 generations. One notable thing is Shadowlands now having SSDs as part of the "Minimum Requirements" section. Note that this probably
doesn't
mean that you cannot install Shadowlands on a normal HDD, just that Blizzard really wants it to be installed on SSDs.

I'm curious how they will handle partially-leveled toons. I have a stable of toons at various levels and expansions, and I wonder where they will end up after the expansion drops. I'm sure Blizzard will address this in the future, but that was my first thought when reading about this expansion's features.

I think the Legion will play a big part in Shadowlands. The Legion created the crown and armor for Ner'zhul's spirit, and I think when they created it they knew of the hold it had on the Shadowlands. So I think in the expansion we will go find the spirits of the 5 dreadlords in charge of Ner'zhul and find some answers. That's what I want to see. Or at least have the Legion involved somehow.

Sounds like a lot of fun! I was enjoying being able to level toons through any classic zone, then picking which expac I wanted to level from there, and this just sounds like the X-treme version of it, so I'm looking forward to this. :) Getting to replay my favorite expansions--and avoid the ones I hated ENTIRELY--would be reason enough for wanting this expansion. The Shadowlands themselves sound neat, too, of course.

Seems to me soloing old raid/dungeon content for achievements, pets or mounts will become a lot harder or maybe become impossible for some classes. If all old content scales from 1-50, that means you'll only be 10 levels above any old raid content, while now you're up to 60 levels above that content. For myself, I'm pretty sure I currently can't solo raid content from Legion, and if it would be possible, it would take a lot longer than blazing through Molten Core currently.
I remember levelling 1-60 was a lot faster when the content didn't scale (all kills required for quests were pretty much instant, while now it always takes more time to kill anything).

I wonder how the squish will affect LFR raiding and dungeons.. Will all dungeons and raids be available to anyone in that specific level range, or will only the zone your leveling in be available... Like lets say I am leveling Draenor for my 10-50 but want to run Court of Stars from legion.. It would be within everyones level range who are currently the same level, but playing a different expansion.. Would I be able to run that, or would I have to physically start leveling that expansion to be able to run that?

As every legacy dungeon is now lv 50, would it be possible to queue as lv60 or even scale back from lv 60 to lv50 as a Random old dungeon queues like timewalking? Bfa dungeons already have somesort of scaling that allows different levels inside the same dungeon party, so that should not really be a problem I guess?
Legacy raids would probably become alot longer if not impossible to solo for transmog or pets.
Many storyteller LFR legion raid boss are pretty much impossible now at live.
I am not sure how LFR or PF queue would work for legacy raids at lv 60 either. Even on live, there isn't alot of people interested in time walking raids and even much rare to find enough people to queue for eg: LFR G'huun in Uldir.

I can't find the answer anywhere. Seeing we are dropping back to level 50 and work to 60 professions doesn't appear to have changes I would assume I should go back and level my Herbalism and Alchemy before release or are there going to be changes in this zone that are zone specific?

The legendary sistem kind of reminds me of armour in swtor, where almost all of the pieces are basically cosmetic and the actual stats come from "mods" similar to the punch cards from mecagon.
What I'd really like apart of choosing the effects is to choose and tune the appearance, make it unique.

So in case anyone wasn't aware, obviously the squish happened. And no, they didn't do auras or any of that jazz...they did, actually, nothing but change the appearance of the numbers. There are no level 50's in Legion or Pandaria or anywhere else besides BFA and SL. They put it all in Chromie Time. The easiest way to avoid retuning/rescslaling the world for a stat squish meant to align all content...is to not actually do it, turns out. rofl

I don't see the issue with just continuing to raise the overall levels. I've played dozens of games that just continued up. While not nearly as complex, on one I have a 561 level character, and everything is fine. This just seems to be a goofy way to move into the future with WoW, and no matter what they say, there will be a host of problems. Much like the stat squish did for last expansion, when you went into a raid that you one shotted everything the day before the new expansion, then the day the expansion dropped you either could barely down those same bosses, or you couldn't down them at all.

On every expansion release, I expect Blizzard to do something for the RP community and every single time, we get nothing.
Is it really so hard for Blizzard to add an optional RP tool to the game?
Just like MRP or TRP? Seriously, it is so frustrating and discouraging to be forced to download add ons and keep them updated if I want to create a character profile...
I wish Blizzard acknowledged the roleplayers for once and give us the very simple and basic tool we need.
I really wouldn't be mad if they stole some features from the existing add ons.

Is it wierd that what I'm looking forward to the most this expansion is the Character Customizations?

It would be great if they gave Shockwave back to warriors, having a single target stun really made warriors less desirable for M+. The returning abilities are certainly welcome to tank or help with mechanics, but I'd love for our AOE stun to come back.

I hope the new customisation (blood elf and human at least) will not effect the npcs, or the history of these races is down the toilet. Feel free to call me racist, or bigott conservatist.

Honestly... I was perfectly fine with my Holy Priest not knowing Mind Blast... as a Holy Priest it just feels very wrong to be using a Shadow based ability... imo Shadow Based abilities should be removed from Holy Priests line up of spells.

I have one more question. In order to get the Mount, 120 Boost, and the other Shadowlands loot do I have to PREPURCHASE it or can I buy it when it comes out. Cause I wanted the 120 boost for one of my characters.

It's just not enough. They keep adding on new systems but they haven't fixed the fundamental problems of the game. Namely, classes are still essentially the same. The talent system is the same. They keep taking away player agency and locking talents and skills into items instead of as we level. The classes are homogenous and many of them not fun to play. From what they are showing here, NONE of that is changing. Pathfinder still exists, seriously, what the actual hell? They have no respect for player time or choice. We are led along the same boring talent trees that have been there for ages. Have they learned nothing from the popularity of Classic? Give us back the choices of talents, the choice of where to funnel our resources. Give us back professions that matter and require people to work together. I never get to actually play the game in an enjoyable way anymore. Instead, it's log in and do the giant treadmill of rep grinds to unlock things i already had. These are chores, not interesting gameplay that makes me want to play more. This is why they can't get the numbers they had before. They kept repeatedly treating their players like idiots. I lost hundreds and hundreds of hours to the game back in LK because there was so much to do. The classes were classes, not specs. As a mage, i felt like a true master of the elements, as a hunter i could choose to focus on my own skill or the strength of my pet. Where did all THAT player agency go? The leveling process is 50 to 70% faster in Shadowlands? Why? It just shows that they have no interest in actually making a compelling leveling process. It is still the design philosophy of "get to endgame as fast as you can because that's when the fun truly starts". Leveling and learning classes used to be The Game. Now it is just the chore/rep/Mythic treadmill ad nauseum. I used to love the game and there are still glimmers of that. For example, i love the Allied Races (although we still need playable Taunka) and the quests have much more variety now. The art and music continue to be fantastic, even in horrible, awful, odious zones--looking at you Nazjatar. But the game will never be close to what it was until Blizzard really, truly fixes class gameplay. And they have shown they have no interest in doing that. Shame, they used to be one of the most constantly innovative and quality-conscious developers out there. They will just continue to ignore player feedback and wonder where their player base went.

Instead of just saying some characters I want to see in Shadowlands I made a list.
Admiral Taylor
Moroes (Keeps coming back “alive” at Karazhan)
Medivh (Spirit bound to Karazhan)
Prince Liam (Genn Greymane’s son)
Daelin Proudmoore
Jastor Gallywix (Still alive)
Mal’ganis, Tichondrius, Varamathris, Detheroc, and Balnazzar (The five dreadlords of the Scourge)
Terenas Menithil (Very likely that he will appear)
Edwin VanCleef
Deathwing (Again very likely)
Grom and Garrosh Hellscream
Torok Bloodtotem
Illidan Stormrage (If he died fighting Sargeras)
Magatha Grimtotem (Still alive)
Cairne Bloodhoof
Kargath Bladefist (Main universe)
Emperor Shaohao (Last Emperor of Pandaria)

Zul’Jin
There you go.

I'd like customization sliders, within reason of course..
Maybe limited to height and weight.
Make it specific to race obviously; e.g. can't make Kul Tiran look like twigs!

Can we get this article updated with information from the July 8 Developer stream?

I had a theory! When Sargeras was wandering around the universe he found a corrupted world with a sleeping titan in it. He then destroyed that world. Possibly The Jailer is that dead world soul. There are some holes in this theory but it's just a guess.

I STILL do not agree with the FORCING of people through lower levels. I found it to be BS leveling several toons to 120. Even going without heirloom gear, things went too fast. I did not get to "relive" my past fun in Outlands and WOTLK, because 1 zone would max you at for the entire expansion, in a single day. AND NOW..it's faster?
Why can't they make it a toggle option, and not force me to zerg through packs ? I assume I can turn off leveling like we did with PVP back in the days to park in a bracket, but then i am running back to town every 3 days to turn it on, to gain a level or 2, then running back to turn it off.
I get it...a LOT of people have the:""been there, done that" view to the previous releases, but many of us do not.

There is a correction needed in the Collector's Edition items. It's not a mousemat or mousepad; it's called a flat clicker. If you get that reference, I will have your babies.

I would like to ask a question. back in the old expansions we have the Outlands and in the outlands we have the Oshu'Gun mountain that was a naaru ship with a dieing naaru inside.
Untill here all fine- we all know Naaru are of the Light side.
Moving to the Shadowlands expansion- we are told that souls go there and get to different covenants to purify, while the ones that cannot redempt go to the maw.
But also we learnt that the anima is scarce lately due to all souls going to the maw withou passing through the normal covenant funnel.
Now. back to OshuGun do you guys remember that OshuGun was in remote times, before the Manoroth blood coruption falls on orcs, OshuGun was a place of gathering of the suls of the ancestors- and Shamans are known to communicate with them.
How come that LIGHT was keeping souls in this place while they were suposed to go to shadowlands?
Is Light also involved in the souls crisis?

since Brewfest takes to October the 8TH I can advance the idea of the prepatch launch veing the end of BrewFest? it would leave us 20 days to paly in prepatch. I can hardly see a pre patch launch in the middle of an event

For the Shadowlands system requirements: I'm running on a laptop with 16 GB RAM. The
CPU: Intel i5-4200M @ 2.5GHz
and the
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GT 755M / 2 GB RAM
. Screen resolution
1920 x 1080 @ 60Hz
. I can run quite high settings -
World content on quality 7-8
with less view distance and low shadow quality. Minor tweaks in the FSAA and no fancy shading/lightning. For
raid
content, there's other settings enabled and
quality is 4
. FPS is ranging from 25-45 FPS (30-35 normal).
This is far below the system requirements
, yet I don't experience any heavy lag. It just works good enough.
While I was really worried that I could not run SL at all, even "had" to invest in a new laptop - I'm very satisfied that I don't have to at this point.

Shadowlands is the worst expansion yet. Aside from all of the confusing aspects of it (covenants, stygia, anima, etc.) I have died more times in the maw than I have in leveling through all the rest of the game from level 1! The worst part is that I've lost more than 1,000 stygia because I keep resurrecting back in the same place each time, and have to work my way past all the foes that kept killing me in the first place, to get back to my corpse to get the stygia that I lost. My recommendation: skip Shadowlands!
