This guide provides tips and strategies for defeating the Shad'har the Insatiable encounter on Normal Difficulty in Ny'alotha, the Waking City. Changes to the fight for the other difficulties are listed below in their respective sections, including tips and strategies for dealing with the new mechanics introduced in these difficulties.
Mythic Shad'har Guide
Shad'har the Insatiable is a three phase encounter in which the raid needs to deal with the different elements the boss embodies when he eats a material at the start of the phase. Single target damage is needed to defeat this patchwerk style encounter before the boss casts his abilities too often for the healers to deal with.
Shad'har is a boss that is unlocked after defeating
Maut
and
Prophet Skitra
. After defeating both Shad'har and
Drest'agath
, the
Il'gynoth
encounter is unlocked.

Shad'har the Insatiable Quick Tips
All Phases
Avoid standing with the water around the edge of the room. Don't drag the boss into it either!
Tanks should taunt off of each other so that one takes
碾压
and the other takes
融解
.
Players fixated by
活体毒瘴
should move 15 yards away from their allies (or as far as possible on heroic).
Healers must spot heal players afflicted with
衰弱唾液
.
Avoid the bosses breath which he casts each time he reaches 100% energy.
Phase One
Spread loosely in the room and dodge the
幽影爆发
bolts.
The rate that
幽影爆发
bolts trigger increases the longer the phase goes on.
Phase Two
Loosely spread in the room to minimise players hit by the instant cast
熵能暗息
.
Several ranged players should soak the
熵能聚合
orbs when they appear in the encounter space.
Phase Three
Stack behind the boss at the edge of the encounter space to avoid the
毒泡流溢
.
The boss and entire raid should move along the edge of the room each time new
毒泡流溢
patches spawn under players feet.
Do not stand in the path of the bosses movement, as you may spawn a
毒泡流溢
there which will cause problems for your raid.
Do not spend prolonged periods of time in the
毒泡流溢
, its damage ramps up quickly every second!
Shad'har the Insatiable Abilities
Caustic Coating
The fight takes place on an island surrounded by a moat of water.
Any player who stands in this water will take high ticking damage every second via Caustic Coating 309704.
If the boss enters the water, he will gain a stack of Caustic Coating 309707 every 0.5 seconds, increasing his damage dealt by 50% per stack. This is permanent.
Both players and the boss should remain within the confines of the island at all times as to avoid these negative effects.
Do not stand in the water. Don't drag the boss into it either!

Approximately every 25-30 seconds, the boss will cast a combination of
碾压
and
融解
.
After a 3 second cast,
碾压
deals a burst of physical damage and applies a debuff which increases physical damage taken by 50% and
融解
damage taken by 400% for 20 seconds.
After a 3 second cast,
融解
deals a small burst of nature damage and applies a 15 second long debuff which deals moderate nature damage every second.
When the boss casts these abilities, he will either cast 2
碾压
and 1
融解
, or 1
碾压
and 2
融解
.
The order of these three abilities is cast is entirely random.
Tanks need to ensure that they do not take two different cast hits, as having the
碾压
and
融解
debuff simultaneously will likely kill the tank due to the 400% increased damage taken from
融解
.
This is simply done by having the one tank take all
碾压
casts whilst the other tank takes all
融解
casts.
In the situation where a tank has to take two
碾压
casts in a combo, they should use a defensive cooldown to survive the second hit as they will take high damage due to the increased physical damage taken.
The tank with two stacks of
碾压
should then avoid tanking the boss until this debuff has timed out.
衰弱唾液
Every ~35 seconds, Shad'har will cast
衰弱唾液
at a random non-tank player.
This applies a 4 stack debuff to the player which deals a high amount of ticking damage over 5 seconds.
Once the debuff expires, it jumps to two other players, giving each player a 2 stack debuff which deals slightly less damage.
Upon those debuffs expiring, they each jump to two new targets, leaving 4 people with a 1 stack
衰弱唾液
debuff.
Once these expire the spell ends.
Healers need to make sure that players with the debuff are spot healed, especially those who have got multiple stacks of the debuff.
The initial player may want to use a survival cooldown to outlast the effect, especially if there are other sources of incoming damage happening at the same time.
活体毒瘴
Every 30 seconds a
活体毒瘴
add will appear from a random edge of the encounter space.
This add will fixate on a random non-tank player and run towards them.
Upon reaching them they explode in a
泥浆喷发
, dealing a large amount of damage to all players within 15 yards.
A player fixated by the
活体毒瘴
should run to the edge of the island as to take the hit by themselves.
Other players should move away from the fixated player so that they can avoid the damage from the
泥浆喷发
.
Healers should make sure that the fixated player is topped up so that they can survive the
泥浆喷发
.
If a player uses a vanish style spell whilst fixated, the
活体毒瘴
will chose a brand new player to fixate on.
Generally speaking this is a bad idea as the new player will have less time to react to the fixate as the add is closer.
Move 15+ yards away from others when fixated by the
活体毒瘴
!
Shad'har Phase One: Shadowy Carapace
During phase one, Shad'har has access to the
幽影遮罩
and
幽影吐息
abilities.
幽影遮罩
Every 20 seconds, the boss applies a 5 secondd debuff to all players which deals moderate shadow damage every 2.5 seconds.
This is unavoidable and simply must be outhealed.
Additionally, the boss will occasionally trigger an
幽影爆发
. This spawns a shadow swirly under each player's location.
Moments later these locations are hit with a shadow bolt, dealing a high burst of shadow damage to anyone within 4 yards.
Players should be loosely spread throughout the phase as to make sure that they always have a safe spot nearby to move too.
Melee players may want to stack on a single location before moving to a new one when the
幽影爆发
triggers as to maintain melee range of the boss.
The frequency of these
幽影爆发
s increases as the phase goes on, eventually leading to a point where players need to nearly constantly move to avoid the incoming damage.
The boss should be tanked in the middle of the encounter space as to give players a large amount of room to dodge the
幽影遮罩
bolts.
Move out of the
幽影爆发
zones!
幽影吐息
The boss gains energy over time. Upon reaching full energy, he face towards a random player and cast
幽影吐息
.
At the end of the 4 second long cast, it will unleash a breath in a cone directed at the initial location of that player, dealing a large burst of shadow damage and fearing anyone within it for 10 seconds.
As the boss does not rotate to follow the targeted players movement, the player can simply side step out of the breath.
All players should avoid the breath, as getting hit can kill you and will at least disrupt your output for 10 seconds.
Be careful when dodging a breath, as you may run into a player fixated by a
活体毒瘴
, leading to you taking excess damage.
To minimize the chance of having to move from a breath, ranged players may want to spread loosely around the edges of the room. Just make sure you maintain range of your healers.
Side step out of the bosses breath!
Upon reaching 66% health, the boss will consume a void-tinged carcass and enter phase two.
Shad'har Phase Two: Void-Tinged Carapace
The boss looses access to his
幽影遮罩
and breath and instead gains
熵能遮罩
and
熵能暗息
.
熵能遮罩
The boss activates its
熵能遮罩
, dealing a small initial burst of magic damage to all players whilst applying a 25 second long debuff which deals minor shadow damage.
The boss activates this mantle every 20 seconds, causing the debuff to stack.
Healers must be prepared to deal with the ever increasing incoming damage, mainly by using cooldowns towards the end of the phase.
All players should stack directly behind the boss during this phase as to allow the healers to counter the damage from the
熵能遮罩
more efficiently.
The boss will spawn several
熵能聚合
orbs in random locations throughout the phase.
These orbs will explode after 15 seconds, dealing a moderate burst of shadow damage to the entire raid.
If a player stands within an orb, they will reduce its size and the damage it deals when it explodes. If it is soaked for long enough, the entire orb will disappear.
Standing within an orb applies a stacking debuff which deals ticking damage over 10 seconds. This debuff deals a lot of damage.
As to spread the amount of debuffs around, multiple players should soak each
熵能聚合
orb, ideally ranged players as they will lose the least by travelling away from the boss.
A player should avoid gaining more than 4 stacks of the debuff applied by the orb.
The debuff can not be negated via immunities or other "cheese" spells.
The boss should continue to be tanked in the middle of the room, as to ensure ranged players are never far away from the
熵能聚合
orbs.
Multiple players should soak each
熵能聚合
orb.
熵能暗息
This ability acts similarly to the
幽影吐息
, except it will reduce all healing received by players within it by 50% for 6 seconds.
The cast is also instant, meaning players are unable to move out of the ability.
Players should loosely spread around the boss as to minimise the amount of players hit by the breath.
Upon reaching 33% health, the boss eats a noxious carcass and enters phase three.
Shad'har Phase Three: Noxious Carapace
Shad'har loses access to his
熵能遮罩
and breath abilities, gaining access to
剧毒遮罩
and
翻滚毒息
instead.
剧毒遮罩
At the very beginning of the phase, Shad'har deals moderate nature damage to all players every 3 seconds. This effect lasts until the end of the fight.
Additionally, the boss spits a
毒泡流溢
patch into the middle of the room.
This patch deals 10% of a players maximum health every second. This damage doubles every second that the player stands within it.
The boss should be dragged to an edge of the encounter space as to avoid the initial location of the
毒泡流溢
.
Players should stack behind the boss, as new
毒泡流溢
patches will occasionally form under players feet and begin to grow.
Each time a set of patches spawn, the boss should be dragged along the edge of the encounter space into an area free from
毒泡流溢
.
The raid must kill the boss before
毒泡流溢
patches cover the entire platform. Bloodlust, second combat potions and DPS cooldowns should be used to ensure that the boss dies as soon as possible.
Stack behind the boss at the edge of the room to avoid the ever-growing
毒泡流溢
patches!
翻滚毒息
This breath works identically to the breaths the boss used in previous phases, except this one applies a nasty 10 second dot to anyone hit.
The raid should continue to dodge this breath, which shouldn't be too difficult as everybody is directly next to the boss at nearly all times.
狂乱
Upon reaching 30% health, the boss enters a
狂乱
which increases all damage done by 25%.
Healers need to be prepared to cover this increase in raid damage, especially on the tanks which will be taking a large amount of damage during this last part of the fight.
Shad'har Heroic Difficulty
Breaths
As the bosses health gets lower in each phase, the frequency with which the breaths occurs increases.
Players need to be cautious towards the end of each phase, as the breaths will be triggering nearly twice as often as they were at the beginning of the phase.

The

triggered by the
活体毒瘴
upon reaching their fixated target now deals damage to the entire raid, but this damage drops off with distance.
Fixated players should attempt to move as far away from their raid members as possible, rather than just 15 yards away like they did on normal difficulty.
Healers also need to make sure that the entire raid is healthy before a
泥浆喷发
, rather than just the fixated player.

There are few changes on Mythic, but they have an important impact on the execution of the fight. The main change is the addition of the
饥肠辘辘
mechanic, which will cause the boss to periodically gain a stack of
饥肠辘辘
. If the boss reaches 10 stacks of
饥肠辘辘
, he will gain a 250% damage done buff, which always means a wipe.
An accompanying mechanic is also added to the
活体毒瘴
, causing it to leave behind a
美味狗粮
after exploding, which can be fed to the boss to reset his
饥肠辘辘
stacks.
