Dracthyr is a playable race that first became available in the Dragonflight expansion. This Guide will cover their available classes, racial abilities, passives, mounts, and all information about this unique race.
Infused with the magic of the Dragonflights, the Dracthyr combines the resourcefulness of mortals with the power of dragons.
Classes Available to Dracthyr
Starting with Patch 11.0.5, several classes are now available for the Dracthyr race:
Hunter
: Ranged or Melee Mail DPS
Evoker: Mid Range Mail DPS or Healer
Mage
: Ranged Cloth DPS
Priest
: Healer or Ranged Cloth DPS
Rogue
: Melee Leather DPS
Warlock
: Ranged Cloth DPS
Warrior
: Tank or Melee Plate DPS
The Forbidden Reach: Dracthyr Starter Questline

Active abilities
:
滑翔
: Reduces your falling speed. You can activate this ability with the jump key while falling.
翱翔
: Muster your strength and launch into the air. Cooldown begins when you land. 4-minute cooldown. Enables the following abilities while soaring:
冲天升腾
: Flap upward, gaining height at the cost of some momentum. Max 1 charge.

: Flap forward a short distance, gaining speed. Max 2 charges.

: Lash out with your tail, knocking enemies within 6 yds into the air and slowing them by 70% for 4 seconds. 3-minute cooldown.

: Switch between your Dracthyr and Visage forms. Your Visage emanates magic, significantly increasing out-of-combat health regeneration for your party.

: Activate to automatically assume your Visage when you leave combat or after Soaring. Deactivate to stop.

: With a powerful flap of your wings, knock away enemies in front of you and slow by for 70% for 4 seconds. 3-minute cooldown.

Dracthyr Mount
Dracthyr have the
Vorquin
as their racial mounts. They do not start with a Vorquin mount learned, but they can purchase them during their starter campaign experience from

. You will receive one of the Rare-quality mounts for free during the quest

Lore of the Dracthyr
The Dracthyr are an ancient race of humanoid dragonkin with their ability to wield the magic of all primary dragonflights as Evokers, as well as being able to shapeshift between a draconic form and a humanoid visage.
The Dracthyr were created by Neltharion the Earth-Warder, before his descent into corruption and becoming Deathwing. Neltharion created the Dracthyr to become the ultimate dragon soldiers. Although normal dragons were sturdy, powerful, and loyal creatures, they lacked the cleverness and adaptability needed to fight a war that Neltharion felt would surely come. As a result of this thought, Neltharion created the Forbidden Reach, to be used as a secret training ground for the Dracthyr to train.
In the aftermath of a terrible battle, the island laid dormant for ages. The Dracthyr were ordered to go to their creches, where they were sealed away by Malygos, the Aspect of Magic, and there they were abandoned for almost 20,000 years. They finally woke from their long slumber when the Primalists arrived in the Forbidden Reach to break Raszageth free, as a wave of magic reawakened the Dragon Isles and with it, the Dracthyr, whose memories of the past were only a blur.
Dracthyr Weyrns
The Dracthyr army is divided into factions called Weyrns. Each Weyrn focuses on one combat skill, and every Dracthyr is assigned to one weyrn. Each weyrn has a leader, referred to as a Scalecommander - A Dracthyr that is groomed to that position by Neltharion himself. Members of a weyrn share a very close bond, forged of duty and service to the dragons. There are five Weyrns:
The
Obsidian Warders
are charged with defending the allies of the Dragonflights and their strongholds. Whether sent to reinforce draconic legions or guard the skies, they are the embodiment of Neltharion's aegis. They're led by Scalecommander Azurathel and are trained to be the primary bulwark upon which the enemies of the Dragonflights will break. The Obsidian Warders are the Dracthyr Weyrn that eventually joins the Alliance, after the events of the Forbidden Reach.
The
Dark Talons
are trained to be weapons of destruction, to crush an enemy's will and topple their leaders. The Dark Talons go through intensive training to be able to strike down ten foes from behind. They're led by Scalecommander Cindrethresh to be the elite force that will be feared by all enemies of the Dragonflights. The Dark Talons are the Dracthyr Weyrn that eventually joins the Horde, after the events of the Forbidden Reach.
The
Healing Wings
are charged to be the symbol and the hope among those who call the Aspects their allies. This weyrn is charged with mastering the healing arts, using the powers of both time and the Emerald Dream to return those wounded to their full force. Led by Scalecommander Viridia, they embody the resilience and fortitude of Neltharion. After the events of the Forbidden Reach, the Healing Wings traveled to the Dragon Isles to maintain their mission to heal the wounded.
The
Ebon Scales
are charged with bringing destruction to all enemies of the Black Dragonflight. They are trained in the arts of spellcasting to rain down fire and unleash devastation upon those who would stand against the Earth-Warder. During the events of the Forbidden Reach, their leader, Scalecommander Sarkareth has come to believe that Neltharion betrayed their trust after leaving them in stasis for such a long time, and they defected the rest of the Dracthyr, becoming enemies under the name
Sundered Flame
.
The
Adamant Vigil
was trained to become the ears and eyes of the Black Dragonflight. They were trained to learn the weaknesses of their enemies and amplify the strength of their allies. Only the boldest and most gifted commanders were able to join the ranks of the Adamant Vigil. However, their weyrn was destroyed by the Primalists during the events of the Forbidden Reach, with the only survivor being their leader, Scalecommander Emberthal, who now serves as an ambassador between the Dracthyr, the mortals, and the dragons.
Dracthyr Evokers
Every Dracthyr is raised as an expert soldier in service to the Earth-Warder, no matter what weyrn they were assigned to. However, there are a select few who transcend the skills of their assigned weyrn, being able to master the specializations of all five weyrns and shift between them at will. These Dracthyr, the best among the best, are the Evokers.
Evokers have the rare ability to focus their essences into either a weapon of devastation or an instruction of preservation. Very few Dracthyr can master this ability, and only these Dracthyr gain the honor of possessing the title of Evoker.
