Welcome to Wowhead's guide on the new Patron Work Orders System for Crafting Professions in The War Within. Here you'll find information on how to complete them, how often they refresh, and what rewards you can earn - all updated with the latest information!
Recent Changes to Patron Crafting Orders in TWW
As of a recent hotfix, players utilizing the Patron Order system may see some slight tweaks in quality-of-life. The mechanics of the process have not changed, but players will notice the following:
Certain high-cost items will no longer be requested by Patrons
The likelihood for Patrons to provide basic reagents has been increased
Patron Orders that award Specialization Knowledge Points have had their quality requirements reduced
The Importance of Profession Work Orders in The War Within
Profession Work Orders, introduced with the Dragonflight Profession overhaul, are an important part of the crafting process. While Gathering Professions do not interact with this system, all Crafting Professions are able to receive and complete these Work Orders, and almost all require interacting with this system in order to train your Profession Skill to 100.
Luckily, the new system is intuitive and easy to use- and opens the door to a whole new world of crafting possibilities. Before, Soulbound crafts were restricted to the Crafter themselves, but now, players can place Work Order requests to obtain those items without having to learn the required Profession - meaning you don't have to feel locked into a specific set of Professions and can instead play how you want.
With an interface almost identical to the Auction House, players are able to place orders for craftable items they wish to purchase, and Crafters then fill those orders. The created item is automatically sent to the player's mailbox, making Work Orders quick, easy, and efficient.
Profession Work Order Types in The War Within
Originally, Work Orders consisted of three types: Public, Guild, and Private. As of The War Within, a fourth Work Order type has been created: Patron Work Orders. These different Work Order types have several key differences in terms of how they are claimed, how often they can be claimed, whether materials are provided for you, and if a required quality is requested.
Public Work Orders
Public Work Orders are the most "general" order type - think of these as an Auction House listing for a crafting request. Players can specify the item they want, whether they provide materials for its creation, and how much they're offering to craft it, and Crafters can browse this list to claim orders at their leisure.
Personal Work Orders
Personal Work Orders are orders sent to a specific crafter - only that player will have the opportunity to complete that work order. If a player is looking to find a crafter in Trade Chat, this is how they would send that person an order.
Guild Work Orders
A middle ground between Public and Personal Work Orders, Guild orders have the convenience of the Auction House-style listing of Public orders while having a pseudo-exclusivity similar to Personal orders. Only players in your guild can place a Guild order for Crafters in Guild to see and complete.
Patron Work Orders
New to The War Within, Patron Work Orders have been introduced as a method to allow Crafters a guaranteed supply of Work Orders to complete. Each Patron order is commissioned by an NPC, and is player-specific, meaning there is no competition to race to claim it. These orders can provide finishing reagents for crafting such as

Patron Work Orders in The War Within
Players familiar with the revamped Crafting professions will be comfortably familiar with the new Patron Work Orders. Found in a new tab at your profession's Crafting Benches, this order screen is similar to Public, Personal, and Guild orders, with a few notable changes.
Quality Requirements:
Unlike Public Work Orders, Patron orders will each have a required Quality for the final craft. This is selected at random each time the Work Orders refresh, and Crafters will need to meet this requirement in order to complete the Work Order.
Commission Rewards:
While the Commission column is familiar to Crafters, the small treasure chest icon is an exclusive addition to Patron Work Orders. This icon reveals additional rewards that can be earned upon completion of each order when hovered over.
Remaining Time:
During the Beta of The War Within, Crafters could expect a new batch of Patron orders roughly every three days, on the same refreshing cycle as World Quests. This remaining time column, however, shows varying lengths of time until each Patron order expires: more testing once The War Within launches will be needed.

Patron Work Order Rewards in The War Within
Upon completing a Patron Work Order, Crafters will earn various rewards in addition to a nominal gold payment. Of note are various Knowledge Point Glimmers and Flickers, such as

15 Knowledge Points per week
for each Profession -

the applicable orders are completed.

I'm not seeing the point of the optional reagents... they increase skill by a small to moderate amount, but increase difficulty by a whopping 100 points? That seems counterproductive.

Anyone know if there is some requirement for patron work orders to show up? Im 65 skill and have spent alot of KP but get no work orders.

Not the biggest fan of these patron orders so far. For crafters it seems to be the main way of obtaining KP, but as an alchemist, I need to craft atleast rank 2. With current prices for mats, you pay a heft sum for a measly <100 gold reward and 2 kp. Some of them not even giving any points at all. I personally prefer the weekly quests we had to craft x items

I have maxed out JC - speced into rings/necks.
All of my patron orders are max lvl gems, that I can't even make, not mentioning providing materials worth of several thousand gold.
I wish it would adjust to crafts we can actually make (with inspiration dumped in).

This may be obvious to some people, but in case it isn't, like it wasn't for me, you cannot access Patron work orders from the general Artisans' Consortium crafting order vendors. They can only be accessed from your profession's specific work table. I spent a good long while trying to search for some hidden requirement that I was missing when I couldn't see any orders pop up.

How long does it take to get materials from patreon? I started order but haven't gotten the mats been a day.

Reagents in your warband bank are not useable for completing Patron orders.

i got 400 characters. imagine swapping reagents on each character for completing these orders.
Fix this for my healthy, please!

My biggest complaint with the patron orders is this; if i craft a leather works item then the reward in the consortium back pack should have reagents used in leathercrafting. Last 3 items i crafted me were rewarded with a pack full of mining,herbalism, and blacksmithing reagents, none of which i can use. IMHO if you craft a leatherworking piece you should get a leatherworking reagent as a reward!
