This guide provides tips and strategies for defeating the N'zoth the Corruptor encounter on Normal Difficulty in Ny'alotha, the Waking City. Changes to the fight for the other difficulties are listed below in their respective sections, including tips and strategies for dealing with the new mechanics introduced in these difficulties.
Mythic N'Zoth Guide
N'zoth the Corruptor is a three phase encounter in which the raid must keep their Sanity above 0 at all times, otherwise they'll become Servants of N'zoth! During phase one, players must defeated
赛古斯
in the Mind Realm, dragging him from synapse to synapse as to apply big damage taken debuffs on him. During phase two, players need to fight waves of tentacles whilst halves of the raid take turns at entering the Mind Realm and repeating what they did in phase one. Phase three has the raid race to the end, as they need to defeat N'zoth before his Thought Harvester adds drain too much Sanity!
The N'zoth encounter is the last encounter of the Ny'alotha raid! This encounter is unlocked after defeating
Carapace of N'Zoth
.

All Phases
Players need to avoid letting their Sanity drop to 0, as otherwise they'll become a permanently charmed

Tank the Basher Tentacles. DPS should focus on killing these first.
Interrupt the

s. Dispel any

debuffs that accidentally go through.
Kill the

s as the lowest priority, mainly via multi-dotting and long range cleave.
All tentacles explode with

when they die. Make sure to avoid the landing locations!
Mind Realm - Phase Two
Send half of the raid into the
神思之门
so that they can counter the Mind Realm mechanics. This has to be different players each time on heroic.
During the first Mind Realm in phase two, dodge the red swirly
狂乱之火
circles.
During the second Mind Realm in phase two, avoid excessive movement when afflicted with
如履薄冰
.
Phase Three
Continue to deal with
妄念
and
心灵之握
in the same way as phase two.
The entire raid should stack their
痛楚
pools on a single point when Evoke
痛楚
expires.
The raid should move around the room each time the
痛楚
pools grow too close.
Avoid the
呆滞凝视
beam cast.
Have several high Sanity players soak the
思绪收割
cast by the Thought Harvester add.
Kill the Thought Harvester add as soon as possible!
N'Zoth General Mechanic - Sanity
Sanity
This mechanic is identical to the mechanic found on the Carapace of N'zoth encounter.
Players start the encounter with 100 sanity which is shown in an extra resource bar.
Sanity will be drained throughout the fight through various mechanics.
Upon reaching 0 sanity, a player will receive the
恩佐斯之赐
debuff which increases their damage and healing done by 100% for 20 seconds.
After these 20 seconds the player will be permanently charmed and become a
恩佐斯的仆从
.
Whilst charmed the player will cast

which removes 15 sanity from a random target and applies a 12 second dot.
Players should avoid loosing sanity at all times throughout the fight, as becoming a
恩佐斯的仆从
leads to a certain death.
Any player who accidentally becomes a
恩佐斯的仆从
should be interrupted and killed as soon as possible, to reduce the number of
精神腐烂
casts they can execute.
Use the

extra action button to restore your Sanity!

Players have access to the
艾泽拉斯的光辉
extra action button throughout the encounter.
Using this ability will cause the player to channel for 4 seconds, granting them 20 sanity instantly and an additional 20 sanity per second.
This ability is the only way players can gain Sanity during this encounter, therefor it should be used sparingly.
All players should use the
艾泽拉斯的光辉
just before each
神思之门
in phase two and whenever they drop low in phase three.
Once used, the ability goes on a 3 minute cooldown. Players channelling should not attack or move, as otherwise this will interrupt the spell.
Phase One Mind Realm
Upon engaging the boss, all players are lifted into the air before being slammed back down. This transitions them into the Mind Realm.
The raid needs to leave the Mind Realm to start phase two, which is done by defeating
赛古斯
.
When
赛古斯
dies, players can return to their floating bodies and click on them to return to the normal realm.
Players bodies are always found at the location that they entered the mind realm from.
All players are immediately placed into the Mind Realm at the beginning of the fight!

will occasionally hit the tank with

, dealing a burst of physical damage.
This also increases all physical damage taken by 33% for 14 seconds.

is interruptible and should be interrupted as often as possible as to minimise the amount of damage the tanks take during this phase.
If a

hits the tank, the other tank should taunt to keep incoming damage to a minimum.

s are found throughout the entire encounter space. These adds always spawn in very similar positions.
These adds channel

on random players, dealing a burst of shadow damage to them before attempting to spread to anyone within 5 yards.
Players should do their best to remain spread 5 yards from one another during their time in the Mind Realm as to minimise incoming raid damage.
When an
暴露的突触
dies, all other
暴露的突触
s heal to full via their

trait.
This discourages multi-dotting the adds unless it grants single target damage to the add you are currently killing.
If

is within 8 yards of an
暴露的突触
when it dies, he receives a

debuff which causes him to take 50% extra damage for 20 seconds. This effect stacks.
The raid should drag
赛古斯
from synapse to synapse, killing them off as soon as possible as to give him the highest amount of
突触震击
stacks as possible.
DPS should be entirely focused on killing the synapse that the boss is dragged too. The boss should only be taking damage from incidental cleave and multidotters.
Upon reaching 5-6 stacks,
赛古斯
will be taking 250-300% extra damage for 20 seconds. The raid should stop focusing on synapses and instead quickly nuke him down to end the phase.
DPS want avoid using large output cooldowns during this time, as they are best saved for when you leave the mind realm.
Position

Approximately every 20 seconds,

casts

which spawns a pool at his location.
This zone is initially quite small, but it expands quickly to cover a 60 yard area.
Players stood within the zone are afflicted by
痛楚
, dealing ticking damage and draining 10 sanity every 2 seconds whilst reducing movement speeds by 33%.
Players must avoid standing in the
痛楚
zones at all times, as loosing Sanity in this way can easily cause the player to become a
恩佐斯的仆从
later down the line.
As the zones grow so large, it makes it difficult to backtrack towards your body at the end of the phase.
It also makes it so that you may not be able to kill every synapse in an area, as you are forced to move as the
痛楚
zone grows.
痛楚
zones grow larger over time... don't stand in them!
We recommend taking the following path during the Mind Realm phases.
Immediately drag the boss to the far wall, towards the closest
暴露的突触
.
Move the boss along the wall each time a synapse is killed. A total of 4 synapses should be killed in this way.
Once reaching the end, drag the boss towards the middle of the room, killing the one or two synapses on the way.
Finally, move back towards your bodies by moving along the small gap left near the middle of the encounter space.
This route should give the raid at least 5 stacks of
突触震击
, with a potential of 7-9 stacks if the synapses are killed quickly enough.
The key to this strategy is that the first two
痛楚
pools are placed against the edge of the encounter space, as to give you space to move back.
Do note that this path was the one we personally used during PTR testing. There are other paths and many of them may be more efficient that the path we described above. This section of the guide will be updated if better paths are discovered.

This channel causes

and his

pools to appear in all realms.
赛古斯
will be dealing raid wide damage and draining 20 Sanity from all players every 2 seconds whilst also taking 99% less damage himself.
If this channel begins, it pretty much marks a wipe as you will not be able to finish him off before everybody goes insane.
This isn't really an issue during phase one, but during later Mind Realms it acts as a hard time limit that the raid must beat in order to successfully conquer the Mind Realm.
You wipe if

Throughout the phase, a
心灵之眼
will occasionally deal damage and drain 5% Sanity from all players within the mind realm every second for 3 seconds.
This is mainly present as to encourage the raid to get out of the Mind Realm as quickly as possible, just to reduce the amount of Sanity lost by the raid.

When
赛古斯
dies, the boss is stunned for 30 seconds via
碎裂自我
. This also stuns any active tentacle adds during phase two.
This allows players to interact with their bodies that are floating in the location that they first entered the realm.
Players need to leave the realm before the stun wears off, otherwise they will be instantly killed by
坍缩心绪
.
Phase Two
After leaving the realm, players have 30 seconds to damage the boss freely.
Players should use this time to get as much damage onto the boss as possible by using their DPS cooldowns, as the boss is immune to damage at all other points during phase two.
Just before this stun ends, two abilities begin to appear.

enemies spawn throughout the encounter space.
Each add will begin to seep out a Veil of
痛楚
around themselves, as well as create one around the boss and at the edge of the encounter space.
The zones around each Neuron is tied to its health. The lower its health, the smaller the zone.
As soon as the Neurons appear, the raid should clear a path between the boss and the wall that the raid can safely stand in.
Damaging the neurons reduces the size of their Veil of
痛楚
zones!
心灵之握
Shortly after the Neurons appear, the boss will begin to cast
心灵之握
.
This will create a visual spell effect on each player which shows a shadow shooting away from them either towards or away from the boss.
After 12 seconds, the boss will then forcefully move players in that direction over 5 seconds.
The spell effect shows which way you will be dragged when
心灵之握
cast.
Players need to make sure that they do not run into any
痛楚
zones during this forced movement.
This is done by standing either right next to the boss or at the very edge of the encounter space, depending on if you are pulled towards the boss or pushed away.
The path the raid takes should be free from any Veil of
痛楚
zones that the
腐化的神经元
s generate.
The raid should create this path on the West side of the boss, because as soon as this ability ends, phase two starts proper and several tentacle adds will spawn in waves.
Make sure you are either close to the boss or far away from him when
心灵之握
is cast.
Basher Tentacle
The Basher Tentacle needs to be tanked by a single tank.
If the Basher Tentacle isn't engaged in melee combat within a short period of time after spawning, it will cast
混乱爆发
, dealing shadow damage to the raid every 2 seconds over 10 seconds whilst reducing their haste by 33%.
This should be avoided at all costs by having tanks run over to these tentacles as soon as they spawn.
Two Basher Tentacles can spawn at the same time whilst all players are within the normal realm. If the raid positioned on the west side of the boss after leaving phase one, the raid can easily split themselves into two groups and deal with both adds at once.
Use a defensive ability when hit by
虚空鞭笞
.
This add casts
虚空鞭笞
at the tank, dealing a burst of physical damage followed up by moderate shadow damage every 0.8 seconds over 6 seconds.
The tank should use some form of defensive ability to lower the damage of this hit whilst healers keep them topped.
The Basher Tentacle also gains stacks of
演化之力
each time it melee hits, giving it a permanent 3% damage dealt increase.
Just make sure that Basher Tentacles are focused down as the highest DPS priority, as otherwise they might get out of control.
堕落心灵
堕落心灵
s do not need tanking and generally spawn near Basher Tentacles.
They simply just cast
堕落心灵
. If this cast is successful, it applies a 10 second magic debuff to a random player.
The debuff deals moderate shadow damage every 2 seconds. If the debuff expires naturally, it will drain 15 Sanity from the target.
This cast should be interrupted as much as possible. If the cast goes through, the debuff should be dispelled before it expires to prevent the player from losing any Sanity.

s spawn spread around the area that the Basher and
堕落心灵
s spawn.
These low health tentacles simply cast
痛苦之刺
on random players, dealing moderate shadow damage.
Killing these adds should be the lowest priority of the three, and should generally be killed by players with multi-dotting and long range cleave spells.
That being said, it is advisable to remove all
尖刺触须
s in an area before the next set of tentacles spawn, as they will continue dealing damage regardless of how far away from them you are.
腐化脏器
When any tentacle dies, it explodes in a shower of
腐化脏器
.
This marks several zones around the corpse of the tentacle. Moments later these zones are hit with viscera.
Players hit by the viscera take a large burst of shadow damage and have 5 Sanity drained from them.
Players simply need to dodge these zones each time a tentacle dies, especially tanks and melee as you are likely to be closer to the add.
N'Zoth
妄念
妄念
is cast approximately every 40 seconds, creating several pairs of players. Each pair of players are linked with a beam.
Every second they spend more than 5 yards away from their partner deals ever increasing ticking damage.
If a player with
妄念
stands within 5 yards of anyone aside from their partner, they lose 5 Sanity per second.
Only stand on your linked partner when afflicted with
妄念
!
Linked pairs should aim to stand on top of one another as soon as possible, but its best not to rush the process.
Taking the ticking damage is far more forgiving than losing Sanity by running into non-partner players.
Pairs should take their time and find a safe path to their ally. Once together, they should remain with each other until the 15 second debuff times out.
It is best to spread out before this ability is cast and then stand still as much as possible, as to allow paranoid players to find one another quickly and safely.
Ranged players can be linked with Melee players. In these situations both players should aim to get to each other quickly.
Once together, they should attempt to move back towards an enemy so that the melee player can actually do something during this time.
N'Zoth's
永恒折磨
Occasionally, N'zoth will cast
永恒折磨
.
On a timer, this deals a moderate amount of shadow damage to all players within the normal realm every 1 second for 2 seconds.
This damage is simply present to give healers something to do. Heal it up!
神思之门
Approximately 45 seconds after the tentacle adds begin to spawn, the boss opens up a
神思之门
. The first wave of tentacle adds should die before this
神思之门
appears.
Players who stand in the
神思之门
go into the Mind Realm.
The raid wants to send half of the raid into the realm. This team should have 1 tank, half the healers and half the DPS.
Players who remain in the normal realm will have half the amount of tentacle adds to deal with whilst the other half of the raid is in the Mind Realm.
Half the raid should stand in the
神思之门
to enter the Mind Realm!
Mind Realm Phase Two
The Mind Realm has had a few notable changes during phase two.
心灵之眼
will no longer be cast. Instead it has been replaced by different spells in each Mind Realm.
The Mind Realm will be entered twice during phase two. Each time there will be one of two different "events" taking place.
Corruption of Deathwing
During the first Mind Realm of phase two,
灾变烈焰
periodically trigger.
This deals a moderate amount of fire damage whilst draining 5 Sanity from all players within the Mind Realm every 3 seconds for 9 seconds.
Additionally, several
狂乱之火
zones will appear when
灾变烈焰
triggers.
These appear as large red swirly circles. Players hit by these take a burst of fire damage and lose 20 Sanity.
This also disorients the player for 6 seconds whilst dealing ticking fire damage to them.
All players should avoid the
狂乱之火
zones. Anyone accidentally caught in one can have their disorient dispelled via a magic dispel.
Dodge the
狂乱之火
zones.
Treacherous Bargain
During the second Mind Realm of phase two,
黑暗之雨
periodically trigger.
This targets all players in the Mind Realm and deals moderate shadow damage and drains 5 sanity every 3 seconds over 9 seconds.
Additionally, players will occasionally be afflicted with
如履薄冰
.
Whilst this debuff holds, players will take low frost damage every 2 seconds whilst moving.
During
如履薄冰
, players should aim to limit their movement as much as possible, but should not completely stand still as they still need to achieve their goals within the phase.
赛古斯
Although
赛古斯
has next to no mechanical changes in phase two, he needs to be dealt with slightly differently.
This is because he still has the same amount of health, but only half of the DPS are present.
This increases the chance that he will cast
疯狂聚现
significantly as the raid will spend far longer in the Mind Realm.
We recommend that the team still follows the same movement strategy, but instead they don't burst
赛古斯
down until he has 6-7 stacks of
暴露的突触
.
When
赛古斯
is dead, players need to leave by clicking on their bodies that are floating at the location they entered the realm.
Both N'zoth and all of its adds will be stunned for 30 seconds due to
碎裂自我
. Players should kill off any remaining tentacle adds before nuking the boss.
Phase two then resets and starts again. Players should continue to deal with tentacles until the second
神思之门
appears.
At this moment, a team of players needs to enter the Mind Realm once again. On normal difficulty this can be the same set of players that entered the previous
神思之门
.
After the second Mind Realm has been completed successfully in phase two, phase three will trigger.
All Mind Realm players should leave the realm and be ready to deal with the new phase three abilities.
N'Zoth Phase Three
At the beginning of phase three, N'Zoth spends a fair amount of time casting RP spells.
The raid should use this opportunity to slam damage into the boss, ideally using Bloodlust, combat potions and DPS cooldowns during this time
During phase three, the raid fights N'Zoth directly. N'Zoth does not need to be tanked.
He will continue to cast
心灵之握
and has gained two new abilities.
Place all
激荡痛楚
debuffs in one location!
激荡痛楚
Every 30 seconds, N'zoth will debuff the entire raid with
激荡痛楚
.
This 8 second debuff deals moderate shadow damage over its duration.
Upon expiration a pool of
痛楚
appears at the debuffed players location. This pool then grows briefly after spawning.
Every time N'zoth casts
激荡痛楚
, all pools of
痛楚
grow in size.
All players should stack up in melee on a single point to drop all pools of
痛楚
in a single location.
As soon as the debuff expire, all players should move out of the pools before they have a chance to deal damage to them - ideally moving in the same direction.
Each time a new set of debuffs spawn, the new
痛楚
pools should be placed next to the old ones.
As the
痛楚
pools get closer and closer, the raid will need to rotate around the boss in the direction away from the stacked pools of
痛楚
.
Players with high latency may wish to place their
痛楚
slightly behind the rest of the stacked group, as if they remain in the pools for too long they will die very quickly.
Stand in the safe space between the two
呆滞凝视
eyes!
呆滞凝视
Two Eyes of N'zoth will appear on either side of the boss.
Each add will blast out a beam, dealing high shadow damage and fearing all players caught within it for 4 seconds.
The beams will then begin to rotate around N'Zoth's body.
Players need to quickly identify where this eye is and which direction it is facing as to avoid the beam.
Players caught by the beam may end up running into pools of
痛楚
. A shamans Tremor Totem can be used to dispel this fear.
After moving from the
呆滞凝视
, the raid should stack back up ready to deal with the next set of
激荡痛楚
debuffs.
Thought Harvester
A Thought Harvester add is present in this phase and spawns at the beginning and approximately every 45 seconds.
The Thought Harvester needs to be tanked and it will cast
意志摧毁
on the tank.
This cast cannot be interrupted, so tanks should taunt off of each other when their debuff drops.
Help soak the
思绪收割
if you have more than 20 sanity!
The main ability this add casts is
思绪收割
.
After a 5 second cast, all players within 15 yards of the add will take a large burst of shadow damage.
The add will also drain 200 sanity divided evenly among all players hit by the ability.
If fewer than 3 players are hit by
思绪收割
, all players lose 50 Sanity.
The raid needs to send in several high Sanity players to soak this mechanic.
There is no set limit to how many players should soak this hit, so the more high-sanity players that soak - the better.
We recommend that at least 5 players are present for each Harvest Thought cast.
As this add spawns throughout the phase, all DPS should aim to kill the add as soon as possible as to ensure that no more than one is active at any given time.
When N'Zoth reaches 2% health, the fight will end.
The raid may want to make a call to nuke the boss and ignore the Thought Harvester adds when the boss is at low health, as to try and kill him before the next set of adds spawn.
If this last phase goes on for too long, two Thought Harvester adds will spawn each time, rather than one.
It is at this point that the raid should really be looking to kill the boss, as having to deal with several adds can strain the healers and the raids sanity
Heroic Difficulty

Players exiting the Mind Realm in phase two will be permanently given the
心智受限
debuff.
This prevents those players from entering the Mind Realm via a
神思之门
for the rest of the attempt.
This forces the raid to use two teams made up of unique players for each of the two Mind Realms.
The raid leader should assign these groups before the fight, and should attempt to make them as even as possible in terms of player output.
呆滞凝视
Instead of 2 eyes spawning on either side of the boss, 4 eyes spawn instead.
This makes dodging the beams more challenging, as there is less safe spaces to stand in.
Players just need to quickly identify where the nearest safe spot to stand in is and run to it. It is okay if you end up split up from the raid, just make sure you return to them after the beams have despawned.

Besides the addition of the Mythic phase, this encounter has a few changes in each phase which significantly change the strategy requirements from Heroic. The first phase of Heroic, where the entire raid fights
赛古斯
, is completely skipped on Mythic difficulty. Instead, the raid will have to deal with two waves of adds before going into the first
赛古斯
phase.
Across all phases
妄念
will affect every player in the raid, with the exception of tanks. Certain
妄念
timings are also synced with
心灵之握
, introducing another element of difficulty.
During the first phase, any
腐蚀触须
s that are killed will spawn
精神噬体
s which will cast
吞噬思维
when reaching a player, and cast
精神爆发
when they die. These adds pose a big issue in phase 1, because they largely limit space.
In the second phase, there are two important changes. Firstly,
激荡痛楚
will explode and cleave players within 4 yards when the debuff expires. This change will severely restrict the amount of space in the encounter area by forcing the raid to spread out each time this ability is cast. The second change is that each wave of

s will contain two adds, making it important to have at least 8 - 10 immunity classes in the raid.

'If fewer than 3 players are hit by Harvest Thoughts, all players lose 50 Sanity.' In the tooltip on ptr it is said 'fewer than 5 players' at the moment.

Is the cloak still required for the last two bosses of Ny'alotha in 9.0.1 Shadowlands pre-patch? I mean, it still should be because of the boss abilities, but the tooltip now lacks any corruption or sanity drain resistances.
Also, is the raid overall easier or harder in the pre-patch?

The cloak and how is still required for the fight even, the cloak no longer has the restore sanity but it's still needed as it will remove corruption. BfA was last expac so I don't expect this fight to be easy anytime soon but even then, the sanity requirements and need to take down multiple mobs would still make it difficult for probably the next few expacs.

I just beat him for the first time last night in a Pug. And I am just posting things here that I remember so I do not forget, and it can probably help others to try to beat him.
These are just mechanics I know that I was following that others were stating in the group that was in that I am putting into my own words.
I am assuming that everyone has their cloaks in the group. You need that cloak. My Cloak was a rank 6 one and I was fine.
1. If someone has a yellow ring around them, stand in it so it helps your sanity. It means that someone hit their necklace. It will help you. If you hit yours, don't move until the ring disappears, if you do move your ring will disappear. Don't worry if others stand in your ring, it helps them too.
2. If you know you are going to go insane and you already used your necklace, just jump off the side and die so others can continue the fight without having you attacking them.
3. If you are Tethered to another player, get close to each other (stand on each other) so you won't go insane. By Tethered to someone I mean being Linked to another player by a beam.
4. To go down in phase 2 you will see a DARK BLUE Puddle that forms somewhere and depending on the group going down, go in.
5. When you go down, Kill the Big Guy that is running around.
6. To get back up after killing the Big Guy go and click on your spirit that is exactly where you went down to begin with. It's like a yellow orange color.
Aside from that, just kill.
I have never gotten him down before and for a very long time have tried to kill him with other PUG's. This time I got it down. I was on my Warlock on Mythic.
People just don't know what they are doing for mechanics. I hope this all helps.

The fight is primarily about not running out of sanity (the bar that you get during the encounter - gold=good, purple=bad)
Can't do anything useful to N'Zoth at start or any time he's shielded.
When you go into the other realm, your 'body' stays where you entered the realm. Try to kill

quick and away from your 'body' so that it's not laying in the pool

pees out.
Once

is dead, touch your 'body' and quickly get some damage on N'Zoth before his shield comes back.
Kill tentacles, don't stand in anything.
I didn't get any visual indicating the direction of

for some reason, so I just cleared a path and hoped I stood in a good place.
Everything that touches you drains your sanity and you can only use the

Extra Action Button cleanse once every three minutes.
DO NOT MOVE
when you press

- it's a four second channel.
The next two 'other realm' phases are through portals that open into the room. Click the portal, kill

, touch yourself, dps N'Zoth, don't get hit by anything.
Last phase was hectic, but N'Zoth loses his shield and at max level you should be able to just focus on him and finish the encounter.
I only had to use

Extra Action Button one time.

Seems to be no point whatsoever to equip either the amulet or the cloak anymore - the action button regens ZERO sanity at level 80 in TWW, it's just a waste of time to click it and also you suffering reduced killing power equipping the items. You will go insane, and then nothing happens. You can continue fighting as normal. Just don't miss the Psychus portal spawning amidst all the tentacles and get oneshot repeatedly like I did, until I figured out what was going on... :D

As of 11.0.5, he is bugged.
Psychus fails to spawn and you will just be killed. Tried today on Mythic multiple times, but just got insta-killed when N'zoth reached full energy.
