Queen Azshara is the ruler of the naga, overseeing their activities from the sunken city of Najzatar. She was once the ruler of the night elves, being beloved by both Kaldorei and Highborne alike. Being one of the most beautiful and powerful beings to ever exist in Azeroth, her Alliance with Sargeras and the Burning Legion led to her downfall, destroying both the Kaldorei empire and sundering Azeroth itself during the War of the Ancients.
However, she was not completely defeated after the Sundering, striking a pact with the Old God N'Zoth and saving the Highborne by transforming them and creating the naga race. Now acting as one of the rulers of the oceans, Azshara continues plotting to rid the world of what she perceives as inferior races. We're slated to defeat Azshara during Patch 8.2, Rise of Azshara, where we travel to Nazjatar and uncover her Eternal Palace.
Azshara was borne with golden eyes, a characteristic that was very rare on elves before the Great Sundering, and thus considered a sign of greatness. This sign indeed came to pass, as Azshara quickly rose to be the most beloved monarch in Highborne history. With a strong will and incomparable beauty, Azshara is the most magically talented Highborne to ever exist.

From the Words of Wind and Earth
The Words of Wind and Earth is a research book from the Heart of Azeroth, the Shaman Order Hall, where Shaman of Azeroth write their research about the Artifact Weapons uncovered during Legion. As
莎拉达尔,潮汐权杖
was wielded by Azshara herself, much of the known info on Queen Azshara comes from this research.
Azshara's Coronation and Sharas'dal
When Azshara was coronated Queen of the Highborne, the ceremony lasted for days. Each day, Highborne nobility would lavish Azshara with gifts and precious relics to win her favor, but one gift stood above them all: A jeweled scepter etched with magical sigils, gifted by the highborne Lord Xavius. Xavius promised Azshara that as long as she wielded the scepter, she would prosper.
Indeed, the scepter brought her prosperity. One of the first acts with the scepter, named Sharas'dal, was to use its power to enhance Azshara's already enthralling beauty. Indeed, as the years went by, Azshara seemed to grow younger and even more mesmerizing. Sharas'dal gave this brilliant aura to Azshara, one that would bring her servants to tears. This phenomenon was hailed by the Highborne as a sign of divinity.
Zin-Azshari and the Well of Eternity
Since before her coronation, Azshara was deeply fascinated by the Well of Eternity. Soon after becoming Queen, she ordered the construction of a lavish palace by the shores of the well. The Highborne nobility wanted to please Azshara, and proposed to change the name of the night elf capital to Zin-Azshari, or Glory of Azshara in the kaldorei language. Azshara graciously accepted the offer, and night elves celebrated the new name, as they loved Azshara more than they distrusted the Highborne. For the Night Elves, Azshara wasn't considered one of the Highborne, although Azshara herself only had eyes for the Highborne, the corrupt elite of elven society. Azshara and her court moved to the palace immediately after construction was done.

Source - Warcraft: Chronicle Volume I, pgs. 68-69
One of Azshara's commands for the Highborne was for them to join the Night Elves in uncovering the mysteries of the Well of Eternity, and the joint forces discovered that you were able to manipulate the cosmic energies from the well. Azshara, as one of, if not the most skilled magic user alive, was perfect for this task. While honing her dominance over the Well's energies, Azshara imbued Sharas'dal with a drop of the Well's cosmic waters, granting Sharas'dal sway over the rivers and oceans.
As the Kaldorei and the Highborne further studied the Well, they became obsessed with its energies. The magic from the Well was being drained recklessly, and it's chaotic powers imbued into ever-greater spells. The Well of Eternity was becoming unstable, dark storms forming above it, and its waters becoming darker and darker, eventually becoming pitch-black.
The Kaldorei Conquest
As studies on the Well continued, Azshara sent expeditionary forces to expand the borders of the Kaldorei empire, founding places such as Shandaral (now part of Crystalsong Forest), Then'Ralore (constructed where the Barrens are located nowadays), and Eldre'Thalas (its ruins now serving as the Dire Maul dungeon).
Azshara herself oversaw the construction of Lathar'Lazal, a temple on the western ends of Kalimdor. With the help of Sharas'dal, she called upon the oceans to shape the temple and bring aquatic wildlife into its location. Whether Azshara walked through Lathar'Lazal, hordes of aquatic creatures came to her. She even managed to bind a Sea Giant to one of Lathar'Lazal's lakes, serving as an object of study for the Highborne. Millennia after the Great Sundering, the Twilight's Hammer cult was drawn to the whispers within Lathar'Lazal, now known as Blackfathom Deeps.
The War of the Ancients
One day, Azshara was approached by her most trusted advisor, Counselor Xavius, who had an idea of using the powers of the Well of Eternity to cleanse Azeroth and make the world perfect in Azshara's eyes. As the Highborne was meddling with immense and chaotic amounts of magic, they drew the attention of a cosmic observer: Sargeras, the fallen titan.
Seeking to use the magic of the Well of Eternity to bring the Burning Legion to Azeroth, Sargeras at first tricked Xavius, and eventually pulled all Highborne, even Azshara herself, under his power. Xavius helped Azshara communicate with Sargeras, stating of the Queen's wishes of cleansing Azeroth of what she considered to be lesser races, and Sargeras tricked Azshara into using the Well of Eternity as a gateway for the First invasion of the Burning Legion, an event that became known as the War of the Ancients.
The Burning Legion quickly decimated the cities of Zin-Azshari and Suramar, and countless Night Elves were slain by the Burning Legion. Azshara just laughed as the Kaldorei begged for her help during the ensuring battle, knowing that their deaths were a necessary evil to shape the perfect world in her eyes.
The Burning Legion invades Suramar, the Kaldorei left to their own devices.

The Damnation of Farondis
Far away from the Well of Eternity, in Azsuna, a Highborne noble named Prince Farondis was far away enough to not fall under the sway of the Burning Legion. Farondis figured that the only way they could stop the invasion of the Burning Legion was to destroy the Well of Eternity, a feat which he tried to do with the Tidestone of Golganneth, one of the five Pillars of Creation. However, Vandros, one of the nobles of Farondis' court, caught wind of his plan, and immediatly set to report it to Azshara.
Azshara was beyond cruel with Farondis' punishment. With a frightening display of power, she remotely destroyed the Tidestone of Golganneth, while it was located within the halls of Nar'thalas Academy. With the destruction of the Pillar of Creation, a massive ley-line explosion happened within Azsuna, unleashing a wave of dark magic through the zone. This wave cursed Prince Farondis, his court and all of the denizens of Nar'thalas Academy, damning them to live forever as spirits.
The Kaldorei Resistance
During the War of the Ancients, a resistance force was created by the Kaldorei, led by Malfurion Stormrage, Illidan Stormrage and Tyrande Whisperwind. Although Azshara initially did not pay too much attention to their efforts, they were able to dispatch Sargeras' trusted lieutenants, Hakkar the Houndmaster, Archimonde the Defiler and Mannoroth the Destructor. Eventually the Kaldorei resistance was able to charge head on to the Well of Eternity. Enraged by the failure of the Burning Legion, Azshara questioned Mannoroth, demanding an explanation, but eventually forgave the pit lord, urging him to allow Sargeras to enter into Azeroth.
At some time during this point in the battle, Azshara was attacked by a band of Night Elf soldiers (actually players coming from the future, transformed into Elves by the Bronze Dragonflight, during the Well of Eternity dungeon), but she was able to dispatch their attacks by using the Keepers of Eternity, part of her royal court, as living shields. Azshara escape from this skirmish while the Keepers of Eternity were defeated by the adventurers.
The Destruction of the Well
Not long after, the Well of Eternity destabilized enough to cause a titanic explosion, sundering Azeroth forever. As the oceans started to violently fill the void left by the Well of Eternity, Azshara wielded Sharas'dal and with it, created a shield around her and her Highborne court, saving them from being crushed by the ocean waves. However, this was but temporary relief, as the ocean eventually swallowed Azshara and her followers.
Their lungs filled with water, Azshara attempted to will Sharas'dal into letting them breathe underwater, but the scepter would not answer. As the ocean crushed Azshara, dark creatures stirred in the water, whispering to her, telling her to let it go. Azshara struck a pact with the creatures of the dark, who enveloped her and her servants, transforming them forever.
The Birth of the Naga
The creatures were led by the Old God, N'Zoth. Their transformation grant them fish-like appendages and scales, effectively making Azshara and the Highborne one with the sea. Thus, the Naga were born. Azshara's empire over the surface was in ruins, but thanks to her transformation and now allegiance to N'Zoth, she created a new empire on the bottom of the sea. Azshara and her servants created a new capital under the sea, Nazjatar. With patience and finesse, she eventually expanded her dominion over the sea.
As the years passed, Azshara relied on Sharas'dal less and less, instead letting her Sea Witches wield the scepter, using it as a weapon to expand the dominance of the naga. However, Azshara would still carry the scepter with her from time to time, reminiscing about her glorious past. She was not dead, though. Azshara had lost a lot, but she had faith that one day, her sea empire would eclipse even the Kaldorei empire. The world was fated to be hers, and she would not lose the opportunity for that a second time.
World of Warcraft: Classic
Azshara has spent much of the lifetime of WoW scheming under the sea, although references to her could be seen in the form of statues revering her among the many naga ruins spread around Azeroth.
The Kalimdor zone,
艾萨拉
, was named by the Kaldorei after the Sundering. The zone was part of the capital of Zin-Azshari before the Sundering, and is cluttered to the brim with ruins of the former Kaldorei empire.
During the alpha period of Vanilla WoW, the oceans of Azshara hosted one of the potential locations of the Dark Portal, but this was scrapped before the game released in 2004.
Cataclysm
Azshara started putting her schemes on the surface in motion after the events of the Cataclysm caused by Deathwing.
Darkshore: Nazj'vel
Darkshore was one of the most affected zones by the Cataclysm. The zone's landscape was completely wrecked by Deathwing's passage, including the complete destruction of the Alliance port city of Auberdine, whirlpools ravaged much of the zone, and even a volcano appeared to the south of the zone.
The naga shows up at the end of the Darkshore storyline, stealing the Horn of the Ancients from the druids of the Grove of the Ancients, a relic that was to be used to defeat the Avatar of Soggoth being invoked by the Twilight's Hammer (
我们中的纳迦
). The Horn of the Ancients was to be offered to Azshara and served as a means to distract Malfurion, while the brunt of the forces of the Twilight's Hammer actually attacked Nordrassil in Mount Hyjal. Azshara herself appears to announce this to Malfurion as you stop the Naga Priestess from offering the Horn to the naga queen (
献给艾萨拉
).
Queen Azshara yells: Who dares oppose Queen Azshara? You will soon beg for a swift death!
Malfurion Stormrage yells: It's over Azshara! You and your naga will return to the bottom of the seas where you belong!
Queen Azshara says: Ah... Malfurion Stormrage. I'd hoped to keep you occupied for a little longer. It was my goal to keep you away from Hyjal while my allies attacked. It would seem I have succeeded.
Queen Azshara says: I've no need to fight you, for it appears I've already won. You cannot stop our attack on Darkshore and save Hyjal at the same time!

Vashj'ir and the Abyssal Maw
Azshara's true plan, however, was to destroy the elemental lord Neptulon the Tidehunter, both as N'Zoth's command and as a way for her to solely rule over the seas.
Beneath the waves, another servant of N'Zoth stirred. She was called Queen Azshara, and she had ruled the ancient night elf empire before falling under the will of the Old Gods. She sent her loyal naga to an underwater region known as Vashj'ir, where there was a rift to the elemental realm of Neptulon the Tidehunter. The water elementals had defied N'Zoth's command, and for that they would suffer. Yet Azshara and her naga sought more than just to destroy Neptulon. The elemental lord held the power to control the world's seas, and it was this that N'Zoth demanded. With it, the naga could cut off all sea travel between both continents, splintering the world's nations into isolated enclaves.
~ From Warcraft: Chronicle Volume III, page 205.
In one of the ends of this plan, Azshara ordered the slitherblade naga priestess, Valishj, to obtain a relic called the Ancient Engravings of Neptulon, which would grant Azshara entrance to the Abyssal Maw, Neptulon's domain (
深度撞击
). However, these plans are stopped thanks to the efforts of the servant of Neptulon, Lord Hydronis, and an adventurer, who defeated the naga, including Valishj, together (
亡魂的复仇
). The relic allowing entrance to the Abyssal Maw was safeguarded to the Cenarion Circle, far away from the hands of Azshara.
During the Vashj'ir questline, adventurers are eventually able to enter the Abyssal Maw and help Neptulon defend himself against a gigantic kraken sent by N'Zoth,
厄祖玛特
in the Throne of the Tides dungeon. Ozumat is not ultimately defeated, but sent away by the adventurers' and Neptulon's combined might. Since Ozumat never returns, it is possible he was actually controlled by N'Zoth and the naga, and broke free of their control once defeated.
Well of Eternity Dungeon
As one of the steps for retrieving the Dragon Soul relic, adventurers were sent to the past in the Caverns of Time, landing right in the middle of the War of Ancients in the
永恒之井
dungeon. In the journey to the Well of Eternity, players meet
艾萨拉女王
herself, and serve as a distraction for her while Malfurion Stormrage, Illidan Stormrage and Tyrande Whisperwind get closer to the well.
The adventurers never get to fight Azshara herself, as doing so would be asinine. Instead, Azshara is kept distracted and entertained as her royal guard, the Keepers of Eternity, are dispatched by the adventurers one by one (
虚荣的女王
).

Legion
Azshara is featured through the storyline of Azsuna, including an appearance through a questline.
Azsuna: The Tidestone of Golganneth
Azshara sent forces to Azsuna, one of her former domains, to gather the Tidestone of Golganneth for Azshara. The Pillar of Creation, originally shattered by Azshara herself during the War of Ancients, was reassembled by adventurers within the halls of the Nar'thalas Academy, then stolen by the leader of the naga forces, Tidemistress Athissa (
潮汐之石:碎裂
).
The adventurer who helped reassemble the Tidestone is then subdued and imprisoned by Tidemistress Athissa. Prince Farondis, the fallen noble leader of the Nar'thalas people and who previously harbored fears of the Naga due to what Azshara had done to the people of Azsuna, spots the adventurer being sequestered and decides to take action, following the Tidemistress and her crew. While attempting to rescue the adventurer, Azshara herself appears before Farondis, and promises to remove the curse on the Azsuna population in exchange for Farondis revering her once more. Farondis refuses the offer and enrages Azshara, mentioning her wrath was coming (
自救
).
Azshara meets Farondis one more time, during
自救
.
Tidemistress Athissa is eventually defeated, but the Tidestone of Golganneth is brought into the Eye of Azshara dungeon, and used by the naga in conjunction with sacrificing one of Azshara's most loyal handmaidens to invoke a massive creature of arcane energy, the
艾萨拉之怒
. As the ritual is disrupted by adventurers before it could be completed, the creature was left in a weakened state, and the adventurers retrieved the Tidestone of Golganneth from their corpse (
艾萨拉之眼:艾萨拉之怒
). The Tidestone was then brought to Dalaran for safekeeping (
艾萨拉之眼:高戈奈斯潮汐之石
).
The Wrath of Azshara materialized, from the remains of one of her beloved handmaidens.
The Tomb of Sargeras
The Naga show up once more during the Tomb of Sargeras raid, again sent by Azshara to attempt to retrieve the Tidestone of Golganneth. After Azshara's lieutenants,
哈亚坦
and
主母萨丝琳
are defeated, the Tidestone of Golganneth is connected to the Tomb of Sargeras. In conjunction with the other Pillars of Creation, it is used to seal the invasion portal the Legion opened within the Broken Shore.
Battle for Azeroth
Azshara is scheming even more during Battle for Azeroth, making appearances in different storylines and slated to appear as a raid boss during the expansion.
Azshara was the center figure for the

Stormsong Valley: The Sequestered Fleet
Azshara is the entity responsible for corruption Lord Stormsong and most of the Tidesages from Kul Tiras. Using her influence, she sought to gain control of the legendary Kul Tiran fleet. Her presence is not truly acknowledged for most of the questline, until Lord Stormsong himself announced that he wanted to give the Kul Tiran fleet to Azshara himself (
风暴之陨
).
Brother Pike says: It's over, Stormsong! Look around you... you're surrounded!
Lord Stormsong says: All I see are lost souls, crying for release.
Samuel Williams says: STORMSONG!
Taelia says: Sam, no!
Lord Stormsong says: You brought your end with you, Pike. I must deliver the fleet to our glorious savior, Azshara.
Lord Stormsong then flees to the Shrine of the Storm, and adventurers follow him to the dungeon. As they approach Stormsong's whereabouts, a vision of Azshara can be seen, telling Stormsong to deal with the intruders as he is transformed into a k'thir. Stormsong , as well as the rest of the dangers within the Shrine of the Storm are defeated by Alliance adventurers (
风暴神殿:深渊低语
).

After the showdown at the Shrine of the Storm, Azshara orders her naga to attack the western end of Stormsong Valley by Fort Daelin
戴林要塞的麻烦
. After the adventurer dispatches of many naga forces through the questline, Azshara herself makes an announcement and invokes a gigantic arcane creature similar to the one in Eye of Azshara, the
艾萨拉之傲
. This time, the creature is defeated with the help of cannons used to fortify Fort Daelin (
海洋深处的来客
).
Zuldazar: The Naga Incursion
In Zuldazar, the Naga are directly attacking Atal'Gral, and it is discovered that Zul, then a member of Rastakhan's Zanchuli Council, had struck a pact with Azshara. It is unknown why Azshara needed the pact with Zul, who was killed before it could have been discovered (
深渊之语
).
Vol'dun: The Ring of Tides
The Naga are also spotted near Tortaka Village, a Tortollan settlement in Vol'dun. The tortollan have no real power, but they were on the way of the possible location of the Ring of Tides, an artifact Azshara was after that would be very important to her plans (
另有目的
).
Overseer Zarjish,
Search the Darkwood Shoal for signs of the Ring of Tides. It was lost there many years ago during a battle with Eraka no Kimbul.
A small tribe of tortollans inhabits the shoal, but they will not pose much of a threat. Eradicate them if necessary.
I need not tell you just how important the Ring of Tides is to my plans.
Do not fail me.
-Queen Azshara
The Ring of Tides was hidden within a statue of the loa Kimbul on the Terrace of the Fang, and only accessible to someone who would pass the trial of wisdom provided by Kimbul. An adventurer eventually passed the trial and gained access to the relic, keeping it away from Azshara's reach (
吉布尔的祝福
).
Tides of Vengeance
Azshara's forces appear in more numbers, attacking the shores of all Battle for Azeroth zones (
纳迦来袭!
). During one of these world quests, adventurers loot an
艾萨兰勋章
from one of the Naga, inscribed with runes of an unknown elvish language. After bringing this medallion to Collector Kojo of the Tortollan Seekers, he decodes the runes to find out that the medallion contains orders from Azshara herself to invade the continents of Kul Tiras and Zandalar to retrieve artifacts of great power (
艾萨拉的命令
).
The final boss of the Crucible of Storms raid,
乌纳特
, is one of Azshara's most devoted followers.
Rise of Azshara
Sometime after the Crucible of Storms, the remnants of the Horde fleet sail through the seas being led by Nathanos, who is wielding the Blade of the Black Empire. The Alliance tries to use this as an opportunity to strike the leadership of the Horde, and chases their fleet through the sea, As they approach Nazjatar's general area, it is discovered that Azshara managed to steal the Tidestone of Golganneth, and uses it to part the sea and destroy both fleets, shipwrecking them in Nazjatar.
Before these events, Azshara interacts with a tentacle-shaped shadow, saying that they would be freed soon.
In Nazjatar, Azshara reigns absolute, being able to detect any spells and preventing teleportation, although this is stopped with the efforts of Jaina, Oculeth and the players' Heart of Azeroth, who manage to open portals to their capital cities. Azshara takes many opportunities during the players' journey to her kingdom to openly mock them.
It is also discovered that Priscilla Ashvane, originally released from Tol Dagor by the Horde, is now aligned with Azshara, granting them the full might of Ashvane-created Azerite weapons. Using resources from Nazjatar itself, players eventually discover and corner Ashvane, who desperately calls for Azshara, who ports the Kul Tiran to safety (

Priscilla Ashvane: Azshara!
Priscilla Ashvane: AZSHARA!
Priscilla Ashvane: You cannot leave me here to die! We had a deal!
Queen Azshara: Contain yourself, human. Show faith in your queen.
Queen Azshara: I would not let them take you. Not before you have fulfilled your destiny.
Players eventually discover an artifact of great power, the Javelin of Suramar (
艾萨拉的标枪
/
侍女的故事
), retrieve them from one of Azshara's handmaidens, and use it to break the shield surrounding the Tidestone, allowing them to relinquish the Pillar of Creation once more. However, this was shown to be another one of Azshara's machinations, who wanted both factions to come together. She congratulates them on their efforts and formerly invites them to her Eternal Palace (

).
Lor'themar Theron: The Horde's champions will drive every last naga from the palace. Azshara will pay for what she's done.
Lady Jaina Proudmoore: Alliance heroes will dethrone the would-be queen. We won't seek a fight with you, Lor'themar, but we will not abide interference.
Image of Queen Azshara: What have we here? Bitter rivals standing united around my Tidestone. I really do possess a gift for bringing my subjects together.
Lady Jaina Proudmoore: You can't stop us, Azshara. We are coming to end your reign.
Image of Queen Azshara: Stop you? My dear child, why would I want to stop you?
Image of Queen Azshara: Consider this a formal invitation. My palace has been made ready. Your presence is eagerly anticipated.
Lor'themar Theron: We cannot afford to underestimate her strength, Jaina. It may take all of us to defeat her.
The Eternal Palace
When we finally confront Azshara in the raid, she reveals the meaning of the Circle of Stars. Her plan all along was to have us collect Azerite and meet her by N'Zoth's prison, so the empowered Azerite could free the Old God from his titan chains. During the fight against her, Azshara constantly taunts the players with how they were played by her and N'Zoth.
Azshara: You see the truth now, don't you, heroes? Every move you've made has been according to my will.
Azshara: That lumbering dwarf believed you could save Azeroth by empowering your shiny little Heart. The gift of a sleeping titan.
Azshara: Yes, a titan's heart was exactly what was needed. Not to heal the world... but to shatter the prison of a god.
Azshara: The ritual nears completion. The Black Empire rises... and the world awaits its true queen.
But in the end, once Azshara finally falls before the players, it is revealed that she is the one that was played with all along. As Azshara falls to the adventurer's feet, breathing heavily, the chains keeping N'Zoth prisoner shatter, freeing the Old God. N'Zoth immediately leaves his prison, but not before claiming Azshara's body for himself and disappearing. Azshara was still alive when this happened, and we see the Naga Queen experience true terror for the first time.
Visions of N’Zoth
WARNING: STORY SPOILERS! Do not continue on if you don't want to be spoiled!
In 8.3, players learn that, after N’Zoth had taken her with him, Queen Azshara is in fact not dead. Dark Inquisitor Xanesh,
one of N'Zoth's lieutenants and a boss in the Ny’alotha raid
, has been ordered by N’Zoth himself to torture her with the twisted powers of the void.
During and after the encounter, Azshara unveils her true plan about N’Zoth and Azeroth:
Dark Inquisitor Xanesh: Submit, Azshara! Beg forgiveness for your failure! Your betrayal! Insolence only prolongs your agony! You will break, or I will carve out your defiant tongue!
Queen Azshara: Impudent underling! You will... address me... as queen!
Queen Azshara: More likely, Xanesh... Azeroth's champions... will be the ones... to silence you.
Queen Azshara: Release me! Only I possess the means of defeating N'Zoth!
Queen Azshara: Mind your tone, whelpling. A queen keeps her promises. Listen closely, as I will only say this once.
Queen Azshara: For all his bluster, N'Zoth was ever the weakest of his kin. One vestige of their power yet remains that can be turned against him.
Queen Azshara: I would have driven this blade into his foul heart myself... had you not disrupted my plans.
Queen Azshara: No matter. Xal'atath is yours, mortals. Strike true. Should your first blow fail, you will not survive to attempt another.
In the end it was Azshara herself together with
Xal’atath
who planned to defeat N’Zoth in his freed and vulnerable state.
In another flashback dialogue between Azshara and Sylvanas, we learn about a bargain between the two master schemers which points towards the plot of the next expansion:
Queen Azshara: We have a bargain, then. I will bring both fleets crashing to the ocean floor, and your champion will deliver the dagger to me.
Sylvanas: And in turn, you will have the key required to free the Old God from his bonds... and leave him vulnerable.
Queen Azshara: You wound me, Warchief. After all, I am as dedicated to my master as you are to your subjects.
Sylvanas: Indeed. Just be certain that once you have what you need, you dispose of your guests. Let none of the "heroes" escape.
Queen Azshara: I admire your ruthlessness, Windrunner. It seems our interests are aligned... at present.
Sylvanas: At present.
Queen Azshara: Treacherous Banshee! Do you think I am blind to the darkness you seek to unleash?
As we all know, Xal’atath, the center piece of Azshara’s plan to kill N’Zoth, isn’t the mystical artifact it once was. Players freed Xal’atath, the entity imprisoned within the dagger for countless millenia, and the in-game cutscene after completing the quest
Twist the Knife
shows N’Zoth letting Xal’atath leaving the blade in exchange for bringing the adventurers to him.
We don’t know if Azshara knows what exactly happened to the blade. What she knows though is that the blade is now in the hands of the adventurers, and she ultimately warns them to use their one chance in the fight against N’Zoth, or else all is lost.
