Dragonflight Run Through
The Mage Tower Challenge encounter for Holy Priest is End of the Risen Threat. This challenge consists of 7 Stages that you must overcome in order to obtain your Challenge Appearance. The scenario is designed to test not only your ability to heal, but also your mastery of all aspects of your specialization including damage and utility usage.
You are accompanied by Commander Jarod Shadowsong (Warrior), Granny Marl (Hunter), and Callie Carrington (Rogue). These NPCs must be kept alive throughout the entire scenario. If any of them die, you will fail the scenario and need to start at the beginning. However, if you die, the NPCs will continue fighting until either they die or the scenario is complete. Best Holy Priest Gear for Mage Tower Challenge
The TImewalking version of the Mage Tower Challenge follows Timewalking gear rules. Your gear, trinkets and stats do matter, but all your gear is scaled down to a maximum item level of 50. In order to maintain a similar challenge throughout expansions. many items and abilities have been deliberately disabled including
Covenants, Legendaries, and Azerite powers/gear
.
To avoid unnecessary farming of past expansion gear, this guide will be aimed at getting your Dragonflight character through the Mage Tower Challenge using mostly items readily available in the current Dragonflight expansion. Particularly powerful items from past expansions will be noted below but shouldn't be necessary to complete the challenge though they may give you an additional edge. Please see the below guide for more information on optimizing your character for the Mage Tower Challenge using past expansion gear.
Season 4 brings back the

Best Holy Priest Stat Priority for Mage Tower Challenge
For Holy Priest, you likely want to follow a stat priority that rewards good damage as you will want to contribute damage to have the easiest time with the challenge, End of the Risen Threat.
Damage
- intellect > Haste = Critical Strike > Versatility > Mastery
Versatility in particular is a generally good stat for damage and survivability but you also will need to forcibly take damage in the final phase so that is important to bear in mind as well.
Best Holy Priest Consumables and Enchants for Mage Tower Challenge
When it comes to Timewalking gear, you can enhance your gear in a multitude of different ways not currently available in Dragonflight. While these extra enhancements and enchants might give you a slight edge, they shouldn't be necessary to complete the challenge. As such, we'll mostly be looking at what Dragonflight consumables and enchants you can use to help your character in the challenge.

Holy Priest Strategy & Walkthrough for Mage Tower Challenge
Below we'll provide a thorough breakdown of the Mage Tower challenge encounter detailing a step-by-step walkthrough of each stage or phase as well as notable enemies and abilities. We'll offer strategies for overcoming each obstacle though there's usually multiple ways of overcoming difficulties.
Stage 1: The Landing
The first stage of the scenario requires you to complete 5 waves of undead enemies with no break in between.
Notable Enemies & Abilities

- Ability that targets you indicated by a large blue arrow. Can be interrupted by crowd control or intercepted by ally NPCs, preferably have Jarod intercept this. Deals heavy damage and drains mana over time. Dispel Immediately.

- Upon successful cast, stacks a buff that grants increasing damage. Should crowd control at 2-3+ stacks to lower damage intake. Can be

off but often its best to prioritize killing this mob immediately and

- Channel that deals significant AoE damage to your entire party. Crowd control to interrupt the channel or be prepared with high throughput abilities.

- Empowers the soldier causing them to fixate on you dealing high damage. Kite, crowd control, or use personal defensives and high single target throughput. The rogue can slow it but it is inconsistent.
You can drop combat briefly in between waves by not interacting with your allies as a new wave spawns, allowing you use of potions, extra damage that you provide will lower the healing requirement.
Wave 1:

Wave 5:

For Wave 5, you MUST have your

already off cooldown. As the last wave activates, position yourself close to the

so you're able to quickly utilize your NPCs to intercept the

from across the room. As with the previous wave, you'll utilize

to interrupt the

after one cast has completed.

as needed and work down the Arbalest as your party will keep chasing them because you're using

when possible to return mana and bring your

back to tank more fixates.

should be back here as well so make sure to use it.
Stage 2: Searching for the Rook
Follow your NPCs into a small room after eating and swapping gear if necessary, wait for your Drums/Lust debuff to expire and be full mana.
Stage 3: Desperate Times
A 5 minute time trial to rescue your allies begins. At the recommended gear level, this is very easy to make the damage requirement.
Do not rush yourself
, I cannot emphasize this enough, there's plenty of time.
Part 1: Capture
Your allies are captured and you are surrounded by enemy Inquisitor

. They will do pulsing damage which is negligible. Top yourself up and take care of these one by one and
BE PATIENT
. Upon death they will detonate for roughly 50% of your maximum health so don't multi-dot too much. Top your health up after each detonation. Take your time, be mindful of your multi-dotting, do not rush this. The timer for this stage is incredibly generous. If you take a full minute to clear this you still have plenty of time later on.
Part 2: Stairs
After killing the eyes, a gate will open leading to a Felguard, a few bats, and some

moving randomly around the room. Pull all the adds and walk into the room with

to kill off the fell orbs and go stand against the locked gate. The damage is relatively low just kill them off while not letting yourself get too low, multidot as needed. The fel orbs will revive after a short time allowing them do to significant damage, so don't linger about. Open the gate once the fel orbs are subdued.
Beyond the Gate are 5 NPCs, 4 friendly and one enemy. One

is feared running in circles and if they run over you then you will also be feared for a short duration. Target the feared NPC and immediately dispel them to prevent getting feared (in Vuhdo you can create a "focus" panel in the Move section and couple this with a mouseover focus macro you can add NPCs to your friendly panels).
The three other friend NPCS are

and taking significant damage over time. Quickly

the other two near the top, use

them again. Use the refreshed

on either NPC if they still need healing. If any of the three die, they will become very large and powerful enemies that will likely cause a wipe.
The final enemy NPC is a

. Avoid engaging her till the end. Use

or
束缚亡灵
to interrupt the
法力尖刺
or you can use the healed NPCs to intercept Mana Sting while damaging her.
Another gate needs to be opened and there are a lot of fel orbs on the other side. Simply
神圣新星
groups of

to subdue them and sneak past. At around this time I had two minutes on the timer remaining.
The final gate holds your friends, an Inquisitor, and multiple eyes exactly like from the start of this stage. Single target damage the inquisitor while keeping yourself full HP avoiding the spinning eyes he places on the ground that increase your damage taken if you stand on them while also doing damage themselves. Do not kill an eye with this debuff active as it will almost guarantee your death. Finally kill each Eye one by one to rescue your pals. I finished this phase with about 1min 30 seconds left on the timer, so if you're reading this in advance, PLEASEEEE take your time. Execution matters FAR more than speed.
Stage 4: What Lies Ahead
This is a preparation stage. Take as much time as you need, change talents, refresh Food/Flask buff and adjust gear if need be. If you think you'll need it wait for your
心满意足
to expire for another use of

. Open the gate to start Stage 5.
Stage 5: Erdris and the Risen
For this stage, you have a limited amount of time to heal multiple waves of 3 NPCs that slowly move towards the boss. Every NPC that you fail to heal will become an enemy in Stage 6 that you'll have to kill. Reducing the number of enemies or eliminating Stage 6 altogether is the key here. The 3 types of enemies are the same as the ones you encountered in Stage 1 so if you absolutely can't heal one of them then you potentially could choose what types of adds you face in Stage 6. At the same time you are healing these NPCs, Erdris, the boss, has turned your allied NPCs against each other so you must keep them alive. This part is rough especially for a Holy Priest that requires time to do their healing, but it's absolutely possible to do this flawlessly.
For the first wave, cast
神圣赞美诗
, easy! For future waves, prioritize the NPC to your right first as it first comes into line of sight. There is some Line of Sight issues with getting these adds targeted so ensure that they are over the ledge before you begin casting on them. Be sure to not neglect your allies letting one dies results in a wipe. Find which ally is getting targeted by the other two (essentially whichever is getting annihilated) and
守护之魂
as necessary.
For the second wave, continue to keep casting
愈合祷言
on your allies and keep your mastery rolling on them. As the NPCs come in, cast
圣言术:静
on the far right NPC which should top them (keep in mind your mastery can finish that last couple %!), then
圣言术:灵
the two NPCs on the left as they come in,
神圣化身
then
圣言术:灵
them again. You can also use DStar to heal those NPCs as they move close to each other or just

them down and let
光明尾迹
cleave the NPCs.
This is around the time where your comrades are properly wrecking each other, use
信仰飞跃
to pull your allies off of each other and give them some respite. Gripping Jarod in particular is quite good to reduce the melee attacks he's dealing.
For the third wave, have your
圣言术:静
back and ready to instantly top off one target, then cast
快速治疗
on one NPC then immediately
快速治疗
the next one so both receive
光明尾迹
healing, don't neglect your friends either! You can ignore them for a short time with a
守护之魂
if the need arises. Keep spamming
快速治疗
to cleave heal up the NPCs and being Stage 6.
Missing 3 adds total throughout Stage 5 will make Stage 6 exceptionally difficult, missing more than 3 will almost ensure a total wipe.
Stage 6: Rise, Soldiers!
This phase is made easier by your performance in Stage 5. You are faced with any NPCs that you did not top off so its okay if you miss one or two. They are the same enemy NPC types that you faced in Stage 1 and follow the same priorities as outlined in Stage 1. Kill any remaining enemies and the final Stage begins! Be sure to drink, rebuff, and change gear if necessary before Stage 7.
Stage 7: A Thorn in the Side
This phase is quite simple but requires some precise positioning and healing on your part. At the start of the phase, immediately move to the edge of the room hugging the wall to maximize the area for the encounter.

has two abilities, a Leap that deals moderate damage to you and leaves large fel patches on the ground that deal moderate damage, and a

similar to the one on the Nightbane boss in Karazhan
that deals damage to your party equal to your current HP.
More often than not you will wipe on this boss to nuking your team.
As

leaps and puts down fel patches you want to stack these as close together as possible being right at the edge of the previous fel patch. Towards the end of the challenge you may run low or out of room entirely if you don't place these properly. The fel patches only damage you and not your allies so their positioning should not be a concern. This setup of fel patches maxmizes your space to accommodate the encounter, but also allows you to handle the
燃魂
.
Essentially, you'll want to maintain 30-40% or so health at all times so as to not instantly kill your allies with the debuff expiration. The more gear you have the more dangerous this can be, as the adds health does not scale as rapidly as your own. Don't be afraid to let yourself get as low as 30% health if you are more geared, the LEAP on the boss did about 15% of my max health on testing, so just make sure you're never below 20% or so HP and you should always be fine.
You need to be able to survive the leap and fel patch damage combination. The fire explosion is the only to your damage allies with the exception of a very minor amount to Jarod due to tanking

. Keep everyone fully healed and heal yourself to always be within 30-50%ish health.
If you are too high feel free to step into the fel patch to lower your health. This stage is really a balance but a very easy one if you don't panic, it really is about just taking your time with the fight. Keep slamming

on cooldown and maintain

and this phase should end before you run out of room.
If you die towards the end of the encounter, do not release.
The NPCs will continue to damage the boss until either they die or he's defeated. You might still win.
Swapping talents into
圣言术:罚
stun can help reduce damage if you're dying to leap combos and getting yourself too low but really work on managing your health and taking your time on the encounter. Use drums near the end as well to increase your team's damage and help you down the fight more easily!

You want to let atleast 1 spirit through on the last stage. I didn't let any through and it immediately started the boss encounter with me at no mana.

I just beat this finally to get the mount and transmogrification.
The first phase your guide is stellar. I reached a point where I could do it almost without fail every time. These challenges are almost all about timing, remembering 10,000 things to time perfectly.
I would not recommend waiting for hero on the second stage. I never waited for it and always passed with 30+ seconds. It's needed on the final encounter and this makes it much less painful to fail, since we are not sitting around for 10+ minutes waiting for
心满意足
just to fail and have to do it again.
My recommendation for the final phase would be to grab yourself a bunch of
宁心书卷
. When you rescue your allies (make sure to rebuff them with
真言术:韧
and also
智力战争卷轴
if you don't have one already!), use the tome to change talents from
神圣之星
into
光晕
instead. This method is virtually a guarantee to successfully heal up soldiers and let only 1 through (As deestar2 mentioned if you don't the encounter starts immediately and you have no mana). Once you get the hang of this I guarantee you will pass it every single time.
Here's how I did it, re-talenting into
光晕
:
Risen soldiers always come out right-most first (soldier, we always start healing this one first), then top (mage) then left (archer).
1. Right before the encounter starts, cast
治疗术
on Jarod then heal on Callie. In every single encounter I did they attack each other first. You will want to
治疗术
them back and forth taking advantage of
光明尾迹
keeping them topped before risen soldiers start pouring in.
2. You want to time this for right before the green lines shoot out to each individual soldier. Cast

then cast
神圣赞美诗
immediately after. You will likely need to top off each soldier once with a
快速治疗
.
3. Begin healing Jarod, Callie & Granny as they are going to each be taking tons of damage now.

yourself after ~4 heals. If you are using Vudho make sure you don't accidentally PI someone else by hovering over them :P
4. On the next group of soldiers,

the right most soldier into

. This will heal them to full HP (RNG might make you cast an extra

). Then switch over to the mage and spam

until he is healed. Do not touch the archer, we are letting them through on purpose.
5. As soon as you heal up the mage, switch to heal up your allies, at this point they are pummeling each other's faces. Make sure you get

off CD by pumping out heals and topping up your allies.
6. When the next soldiers begin,

into

the right-most soldier. Cast

on the two other soldiers (unless it autos), use

and then

the archer, then spam flash the mage into serenity and the encounter will end.
AN IMPORTANT NOTE TO #6 is that your allies are still pummeling each other and one of them is probably getting low. This might require you to

one of them.
After this as mentioned by this guide, DRINK. As well, use
宁心书卷
and switch back to
神圣之星
. Also I would recommend switching out of
守护天使
and into
死后余生
. This will help you tremendously when you die near the end, and you will die. The encounter only ends when one of your team mates dies, so the extra time to be in spirit form spamming heals and an extra divine star or two will help. Don't get to 0.6% like I did.

Did this just tonight and I have a few things to add since this guide helped a TON in managing the first phase:
First of all:
don't half ass this challenge on your holy priest
, twinking your character is
EXTREMELY
helpful because holy priest is so insanely weak at healing compared to other classes when scaled down. After switching to
无尽深邃合剂
over
幽魂强能合剂
and farming out some gear from legion raids for sockets for more int, I found that my Flash Heal was actually useful in keeping my party alive while also dealing out enough damage. If you feel like your Flash Heal is only barely tickling your friendly health bars, do what you can to increase your int.
Additionally,

is EXTREMELY helpful, much more than
守护天使
, IMHO until the very last phase (when you should actually switch to
死后余生
instead) . Consider bringing respec tomes because
死后余生
is also REALLY helpful when you die in the last phase (and you will die).
