This guide provides tips and strategies for defeating the Argus the Unmaker encounter on Normal Difficulty in Antorus, the Burning Throne. Changes to the fight for Looking for Raid and Heroic difficulties are listed below in their respective sections, including tips and strategies for dealing with the new mechanics introduced in these difficulties. Argus the Unmaker is a four phase encounter in which the raid will need to deal with several devastating abilities and debuffs. The raid will be helped by the Titans throughout each of the four distinct phases, via powerful buffs being placed on the raid or devastating debuffs being placed on the enemies. Careful planning and excellent group coordination will be needed to take down Argus the Unmaker.
Argus the Unmaker is the final boss in Antorus, the Burning Throne; available November 28th on Normal / Heroic difficulty, January 16 on LFR. Argus the Unmaker is available after defeating
Aggramar
.

Silithus Prerequisite
In Patch 7.3.5, you must clear Antorus the Burning Throne in order to access new
faction-specific quests
in Silithus which further Legion's story, artifact weapons, and conflict between the factions.

The Unmaking of Creation
– The Speaker has heard the anguished whispers of the Unmaker, an emerald star calling out from the darkness. Little is known of him, only that his once-noble soul has been twisted by ages of endless torment.
Tanks

Phase One: Storm and Sky
Phase One revolves around the idea of placing patches of
死亡之雾
around the room in space saving locations.
死亡之雾
is a ground effect that spawns from two of his abilities.
The ground effect deals a large amount of ticking damage to players who stand within it and will not despawn until the beginning of phase two.
Slowly rotate around the boss as
死亡之雾
begins to cover large sections of the room.
Stacking near
死亡之雾
will increase the amount of roomyou have in the long run.
The primary
死亡之雾
spawning ability is
死亡之锥
.
Each time the boss reaches 100% energy, he will target a random non-tank player's location and place
死亡之雾
in a cone at that location.
All players should stack up behind the boss and should side step the ability as a single unit each time it is cast.
This allows the raid to place the
死亡之锥
exactly where they want it, as all valid targets are on top of each other.
For each subsequent
死亡之锥
, the raid should stack directly next to the previous
死亡之锥
死亡之雾
cone.
This way you can maximize the amount of space, and therefore time, you have in this phase.
Positioning the boss close to the edge of the room and moving him along slightly after each cone will also give you a lot more time in this phase.
Depending on your groups DPS this may not be needed, in which case keeping the boss in the direct center of the room can make movement cleaner.
The other ability that causes
死亡之雾
to spawn is
灵魂凋零宝珠
.
The boss summons an untargetable orb that will send out a few debuffs in a staggered way and then despawn.
The
灵魂凋零
debuff it leaves on players deals ticking damage over 8 seconds. When it expires, the player will spawn a small patch of
死亡之雾
underneath themselves.
灵魂凋零
afllicted players need to move directly behind the group to let the debuff expire.
It is important that they do not go ahead of the group if the
死亡之锥
is due to come in as it may target them instead, which is likely to catch out some players.
It's just important that debuffed players pay attention to the
死亡之锥
timer and move with the group and never ahead of them.
Move out of the raid when you have
灵魂凋零
. This debuff can time outduring a
死亡之锥
is cast.
Argus has a few other abilities that you need to deal with in this phase.
He'll cast
痛苦之怒
on a timer, which just deals a flat burst of damage to the entire raid.
This damage alone is not deadly, however players with the
灵魂凋零
debuff will need extra healing attention.
If a
死亡之锥
is due to to be cast at roughly the same time as
痛苦之怒
, it may be worth using a healing cooldown to make sure everyone is healthy, just in case a few people get clipped by the
死亡之雾
s damage.
The tanks will need to face the boss away from the raid at all times for
巨镰横扫
.
This is a large cleave in a semi-circle in front of the boss which deals a large burst of physical damage whilst applying a debuff which increases the damage you take from
巨镰横扫
by 75% for 15 seconds.
The tank needs to ensure that nobody is in front of the boss, as the damage will likely kill a non-tank player without a large damage reduction.
Tanks will need to take turns taking the
巨镰横扫
to allow the debuff to drop. This is usually done around 3 stacks.
Golganneth's Aid
During this phase, Golganneth will help out by placing out 2 debuffs, each one on a single player.
The debuffs last 5 seconds and place an orb above the players head: one white orb and one lightning orb.
After the debuffs expire the orbs will spawn at the location of those players.
Running into the white orb grants the player
海洋之力
, increasing their haste and versatility by 2000 for 1 minute.
Running into the lightning orb grants the player
天空之力
, increasing their mastery and critical strike by 2000 for 1 minute.
These buffs are mutually exclusive, so you cannot have both.
As an example: If you run into the lightning after getting the
海洋之力
, you'll lose that buff and gain
天空之力
instead.
The white orb grants
海洋之力
.
The lightning orb grants
天空之力
.
Players will want to decide what buff is best for their class and try and gain that buff each time the orb appears.
This way you can get the buff to stack. This can go as high as 6 or even 7 stacks depending on the length of the phase.
You want to ensure that the orbs are placed in a way that players can make the choice on which buff to grab.
We recommend having one orb directly in the bosses hitbox, whilst another orb is 5 yards away from the boss.
This allows melee players to choose what buff they want whilst maintaining 100% up time on the boss.
As long as players stay together with the
死亡之锥
movement, everybody will be able to maintain 100% uptime on their desired buff.
As a summary:
Continue to rotate around the boss for each
死亡之锥
Face the boss away and taunt on 3 stacks of
巨镰横扫
Move out with the
灵魂凋零
debuffs
Gain buffs whenever you can
Once the boss gets to 70% health Phase Two will begin.
Phase Two: The Protector Redeemed
Remain within the eye of the storm until it has resided.
At the beginning of the phase Argus will no longer cast any abilities. Instead Golganneth will create a storm via
高戈奈斯之怒
which will clear all the
死亡之雾
in the room.
This lightning storm deals large amount of damage.
The entire group needs to stand in the middle of the room until the storm has gone.
Make sure nobody aside from the tank is in front of the boss throughout the storm, as Argus will go straight back into using
巨镰横扫
as soon as the storm has cleared.
The tanks will want to drag Argus to one edge of the room and keep him there throughout the phase.
Tanks want to continue to taunt off each other when the
巨镰横扫
debuff drops, usually around 3 stacks.
Aggramar's Aid
The current tank will receive a 1 minute long debuff every minute called
阿格拉玛的化身
.
This debuff increases the tanks health pool by 100% and movement speed by 40%, whilst also buffing nearby players with
阿格拉玛的恩赐
.

will cause the player to redirect all damage taken to the
阿格拉玛的化身
debuffed tank.

are used to deal with one of Argus' new abilities:

should stand on top of the

player before their debuff expires.
Each time Argus reaches 100% energy, he will place out

debuffs onto two different players and
灵魂炸弹
onto one player.
灵魂爆发
deals ticking damage over 15 seconds and will trigger a
灵魂爆发引爆
once it expires.
灵魂爆发引爆
deals a burst of damage to the debuffed players as well as to the entire raid. This damage drops off with distance, up to a maximum of 45 yards.
灵魂爆发
afflicted players need to move away from the raid to allow their debuff to detonate in a safer way.
Two locations should be assigned for
灵魂爆发
players to go to, both of which being at least 45 yards away from the boss and each other.
灵魂炸弹
is similar to
灵魂爆发
, except it deals far more damage.
灵魂炸弹
deals ticking damage over 15 seconds and will trigger a
灵魂炸弹引爆
once it expires.
灵魂炸弹引爆
deals an extreme burst of damage to the debuff player as well as to the entire raid. This damage also drops off with distance, up to a maximum of 45 yards.
The damage from
灵魂炸弹引爆
is high enough to kill any afflicted player who does not use a large damage reduction or immunity.
灵魂炸弹
afflicted players need to move 45+ yards away from the raid and the
灵魂爆发
players.
Dodge the
湮灭刀锋
blades.
Before the
灵魂炸弹
expires, the
阿格拉玛的化身
debuffed tank needs to have the other tank taunt Argus whilst they move over to the
灵魂炸弹
player and stand on top of them.
This will redirect the damage from the
灵魂炸弹引爆
to the tank via
阿格拉玛的恩赐
, saving the
灵魂炸弹
player.
The
阿格拉玛的化身
tank should use some form of damage reduction to ensure they survive the
灵魂炸弹引爆
.
During this time, the rest of the raid should be stacked up behind Argus.
This will help ensure that all players are over 45 yards away from the
灵魂炸弹
/
灵魂爆发
players, whilst also allowing the healers to efficiently heal the raid after the detonations have occured.
Healers may need to move towards the
灵魂爆发
players to ensure that they are kept healthy before the
灵魂爆发
/
灵魂炸弹引爆
s occur.
Each time Argus reaches 50% energy, he will place out two
灵魂爆发
debuffs.
The afflicted players need to move away from the raid and stand on the locations pre-assigned for the
灵魂爆发
players to stand.
When afflicted with either
灵魂炸弹
or
灵魂爆发
you must create distancebetween yourself and the raid before it expires.
The only other ability Argus will cast in this phase is
湮灭刀锋
.
Throughout the phase, scythes spawn in random locations around the encounter area.
They hover in place for a moment and start spinning. They will then mark a line on the floor and after a few seconds shoot down the line.
This knocks back, deals moderate damage and applies an 8 second dot to anyone in its path.
Players need to make sure they do not stand in these lines, whilst ensuring they remain close to the boss if

debuffs are due to expire.
Once Argus reaches 40% health, he will transition into Phase Three.
Phase Three: The Arcane Masters
Argus will dash to the middle of the room and become unattackable.
Aman'thul will cast
时光炸弹
on Argus, causing him to burst into multiple starts.
These stars fly around the encounter area and eventually form into seven Constellar Designate adds that stand stationary around the edges of the encounter area.
The raid needs to kill all seven adds to enter phase four.
The raid should be losely stacked in the middle of the room to remain in range of healers whilst allowing ranged DPS to maintain range on all adds in the room.
The raid should stand within the middle of the room.Your objective in this phase is to kill all of the Constellar Designate adds.
Constellar Designate adds can not be crowd controlled, moved or tanked. All adds have the same three abilities they will cast throughout the phase.
Move out of the raid whentargeted by
宇宙射线
.
宇宙射线
will mark a player and point a beam at them. A moment later the beam will explode, dealing damage to anyone inside.
Players targeted by the beam need to make sure they are not in any other players
宇宙射线
beam.
The players should then stand still, giving everyone else the opportunity to side step their beam.

is an interruptible cast that they repeatedly cast at a random player, dealing a small burst of damage.
Players can interrupt this if they wish, however some interrupts must be saved for when the adds cast
宇宙道标
.
宇宙道标
will mark a player and after 4 seconds will hit them with
宇宙重击
, dealing a large burst of damage and applying a painful 6 second dot to the entire raid.
Two Constellar Designate adds will cast this at the same time. if neither of them are interrupted the combined damage of both
宇宙重击
es can wipe you.
The raid should assign at least one player per Constellar Designate add to hold their interrupt and use it on the
宇宙道标
cast.
Interrupt the

cast.Do however make sure an interrupt isavailable for when
宇宙道标
is cast.
Throughout the phase, occasionally two randomly selected Constellar Designate adds would gain weapons via The Stellar Armory.
One add gains the Blade of the Eternal which increases melee damage by 300%.
The other add gains
宇宙之剑
which increases melee damage by 200%, whilst giving it access to the
宇宙之力
ability which increases the damage of adds within 20 yards by 20% for 3 mins when cast.
Whilst the adds have weapons they can not cast
宇宙道标
,

or
宇宙射线
.
Each add needs to have a tank and the tanks need to be quick to pick them up. The adds generate a threat table based on the damage they have taken whilst weaponless.
The Blade of the Eternal add should be moved next to another non-weapon add, so that DPS can cleave them down.
The
宇宙之剑
add needs to be tanked 20 yards away from any other Constellar Designate adds so its
宇宙之力
ability does not buff other adds.
A good location for this add is in the middle of the room, as this allows all DPS to easily attack it whilst still keeping the required distance away from other adds.
Norgannon's Aid
15 seconds after all the adds have spawned, Norgannon casts
诺甘农圆盘
.
This places a different debuff on each add which increases the damage they take from a single school of magic by 200%.

DPS should focus on killing the add that matches their damage type.
Norgannon's damage buff is always applied to the same Constellar Designate adds.
Once the raid has defeated all seven Constellar Designate adds, Phase Four will begin.
Phase Four: The Gift of Life, The Forge of Loss
Argus will kill all players at the beginning of this phase, removing food buffs, augments runes and resetting the cooldown of potions.
The raid should aim to have already used two potions before this point. One pre-pot and one during phase three.
Eonar's Aid
Shortly after the raid dies, Eonar will create a

tree.
This tree will allows players to Release Spirit, allowing them to move around the encounter as a ghost.
Players within the Spirit World will see many Hungering Soul adds which wander around aimlessly.
If a player touches an add it will explode with a

, which knocks back and slows nearby ghost players movement speed by 50%.
Players need to avoid touching these Hungering Soul adds whilst they travel towards the
生命缚誓者的恩赐
tree.
Players will be resurrected throughoutPhase Four when they move to theGift of Lifebinder tree.
Running into the aura around the
生命缚誓者的恩赐
tree will resurrect the player and allow them to engage Argus once again.
However the tree has an energy bar which depletes each time a player uses it to resurrect and this energy doesn't come back. Once it's all gone, it's gone for good.
Upon losing all energy, the
生命缚誓者的恩赐
tree will become a
生命缚誓者的凋零之赐
tree.
Players can still use the energy-less tree to resurrect, however doing so will apply a permanent stack of
凋零之根
to the tree which deals heavy ticking damage to it.
The healers can heal the tree to try and keep it healthy. However as the stacks of
凋零之根
gets higher and higher, the damage will become unsustainable and the
生命缚誓者的凋零之赐
tree will die.
Once the
生命缚誓者的凋零之赐
tree is dead it never respawns. Players from that point onwards can no longer Release Spirit and death now acts as it usually would.
Because of this, you have a limited amount of resurrects you can use in this phase.
This means you cannot rely on the tree to cover peoples mistakes, instead
death itself becomes a resource
for the raid to use.
You'll want certain people to die at certain times and if you run out of resurrects too quickly you are going to wipe.
That being said, if a player does make a mistake and dies by accident, it is still worth having them Release Spirit and run to the
生命缚誓者的恩赐
tree to resurrect.
At the beginning of the phase, all members of the raid want to Release Spirit as soon as possible and make their way over to the
生命缚誓者的恩赐
tree so they can resurrect and engage Argus.
Kill the Reorigination Module beforeareas of the room.
Whilst all members of the raid are dead, Argus will cast
万物的终末
.
This ability is as devastating as it sounds, as it will wipe the raid if the cast is not interrupted.
As soon as players resurrect for the first time, you will need to interrupt this cast.
Make sure that a tank is alive and can immediately gain threat on Argus, as otherwise he will immediately chase somebody and slap them into the ground.
On a timer, Argus will spawn in a set of Reorigination Module adds that will spawn around the edges of the room.
These slowly drain their health whilst making an ever-growing circle via

Once they run out of health they will cast

This deals a flat amount of damage to the raid, and a near lethal amount of damage to anyone within the circle created via

You need to damage these adds so that the circles do not grow too large.
They do not have a large amount of health, so creating small circles is not difficult as long as all DPS swap to them.
Each time the adds spawn they'll have their numbers increased by 1. You will start off by killing three adds and by the end of the phase you may end up killing six or seven each wave.

in the Spirit World.
Ghost players can run over these to absorb them. This will give Khaz'goroth energy.
Once Khaz'goroth has at least 20 energy he will channel

, increasing the raids damage, healing and movement speed.
This buff gets stronger the longer Khaz'goroth has more than 20 energy.
Any ghost players should aim to gather any nearby
泰坦能量微粒
to try and have a high up time on the

buff.
Argus has replaced
巨镰横扫
with
死亡之镰
.
This deals the same damage as
巨镰横扫
, however the debuff now increases damage taken by 200% instead of 75% and it is permanent.
This means eventually the tanks will die. However the debuff is removed upon death.
A single tank should take as many
死亡之镰
hits in a row as possible. When this tank eventually dies they can then Release Spirit and run over to the
生命缚誓者的恩赐
tree to resurrect.
The dead tank should not need to rush to resurrect. They should instead use this time to absorb
泰坦能量微粒
to give the raid
泰坦造物
.
Avoid Embers of Rage zones!

still occurs in this phase, with Argus giving out two
灵魂爆发
s at 50% and two
灵魂爆发
s and one
灵魂炸弹
at 100% energy.
The raid should deal with this in the same way as they did in phase two.
All three debuffed players should move at least 45 yards away from the raid. The raid should stack behind the boss boss who is being tanked against one side of the encounter space.
The
灵魂炸弹
player will die when the debuff expires unless they use a large damage reduction or immunity as there is no
阿格拉玛的化身
tank debuff to save them.
This player can take this time to pick up some
泰坦能量微粒
before coming back to life at the tree.
On a timer, Argus will once again cast
痛苦之怒
which deals a large burst of damage to the raid.
As the raid is stacked already, the healers should be able to efficiently heal up the damage.
Healers should consider using raid wide damage reductions and output cooldowns if the
痛苦之怒
overlaps with other incoming damage, such as
重组脉冲
or
灵魂爆发
/
灵魂炸弹引爆
.
怒火余烬
will be falling to the platform throughout the phase. These cause small swirly circles to appear on the ground.
If players remain in the circles when the embers land, they will take a large burst of damage and receive an incredibly hard hitting dot which is permanent.
Players must dodge these embers, as soaking one will likely eventually lead to a death.
Phase One: 100% - 70%
Face Argus away from the raid at all times to avoid extra people from being hit by the
巨镰横扫
.
Taunt off one another to allow the
巨镰横扫
debuff to drop, usually on 3 stacks.
Place either of the
海天之力
orbs either directly inside the bosses hitbox or 5 yards away from the boss.
Maintaining either
天空之力
or
海洋之力
is difficult for tanks. Do not focus too much on it.
Phase Two: 70% - 40%
Stand in the middle of the room at the beginning of the phase to avoid the
高戈奈斯之怒
storm.
Drag Argus to one side of the room and keep him there throughout the phase.
Face Argus away from the raid at all times to avoid extra people from being hit by the
巨镰横扫
.
Taunt off one another to allow the
巨镰横扫
debuff to drop, usually on 3 stacks.
Move over and stand next to the player afflicted with
灵魂炸弹
when you have the
阿格拉玛的化身
debuff.
Avoid standing in any of the
湮灭刀锋
scythe lines.
Phase Three:
Avoid standing in any of the

beams.
Have a tank each quickly pick up adds who gain weapons via The Stellar Armory.
Tank the
宇宙之剑
add 20 yards away from other adds to minimise the benefit they gain via the
宇宙之力
cast.
Tank the Blade of the Eternal add next to one of the other Constellar Designate adds to allow DPS to cleave them down.
Interrupt the
宇宙道标
cast of any nearby Constellar Designate adds.
Phase Four: 40% - 0%
When you die, Release Spirit and run over to the

Tree.
Interrupt

Drag Argus to one side of the room and keep him there throughout the phase.
Face Argus away from the raid at all times to avoid extra people from being hit by the

Avoid touching Hungering Soul adds whilst in ghost form. They knock you back and slow you if you touch them.
Avoid standing within the

circles.
Phase One: 100% - 70%
Don't stand in front of the boss otherwise you may get hit by the

Place either of the

orbs either directly inside the bosses hitbox or 5 yards away from the boss.
Maintain
either

buffs by running into the same coloured orb each time they spawn.
Use a healing cooldown when

overlaps with other sources of damage.
Stack as a raid and move around as a unit each time

is cast.
Don't stand in the

Move behind the group when afflicted with

to allow your debuff to expire in a safe location.

orbs either directly inside the bosses hitbox or 5 yards away from the boss.
Maintain
either
the
天空之力
or
海洋之力
buffs by running into the same coloured orb each time they spawn.
Stack as a raid and move around as a unit each time
死亡之锥
is cast.
Don't stand in the
死亡之雾
.
Move behind the group when afflicted with
灵魂凋零
to allow your debuff to expire in a safe location.
Phase Two: 70% - 40%
Don't stand in front of the boss otherwise you may get hit by the
巨镰横扫
.
Stand in the middle of the room at the beginning of the phase to avoid the
高戈奈斯之怒
storm.
Stack up direcly under the boss to create distance for the
灵魂爆发
and
灵魂炸弹
players.
Move 45+ yards away from the boss and other
灵魂爆发

players when afflicted with either

Raid Finder Difficulty
Aside from numerical changes, in which the damage from the abilities has been severely reduced, there is a few mechanical changes to the Argus the Unmaker encounter on Raid Finder Difficulty.
Argus has lost access to the
灵魂凋零宝珠
during phase one
This allows the raid to remain stacked throughout the entire phase.
巨镰横扫
increases the damage taken from subsequent
巨镰横扫
casts by 50% rather than 75%.
Tanks still want to taunt off each other when their debuff drops, usually around 3 stacks.
灵魂炸弹
and
灵魂爆发
no longer deal damage to the raid. Instead they only deal damage to the player upon expiration, and this damage has been reduced severely.
The
灵魂炸弹
player should be able to survive their own
灵魂炸弹引爆
without the assistance from the
阿格拉玛的化身
tank, as long as they are healed fully.
The Constellar Designate adds can now only gain
宇宙之剑
during phase three. Additionally adds with
宇宙之剑
cannot cast
宇宙之力
.
This allows the tanks to stack the adds up to allow as much cleave DPS as possible.
Hungering Souls will now only slow ghosts by 20% rather than 50%.
死亡之镰
does not replace
巨镰横扫
in phase four. Tanks should continue to taunt off each other on three stacks, rather than dying.
Heroic Difficulty
Alongside numerical changes, in which the damage from the abilities has been increased, there is few mechanical changes that have been made to the Argus the Unmaker encounter on Heroic difficulty.
Phase One:
Both the
天空之力
and
海洋之力
buffs gained during phase one last only 30 seconds, rather than one minute.
This still leaves enough time for players to refresh their buff on either orb, however this time window is a lot more tight.
Players afflicted with
灵魂凋零
may not be able to refresh as they will need to move away from the raid to drop their debuff at the same time the orbs spawn.
Gaining the
天空之力
and
海洋之力
buffs are not required to transition into phase 2 before the room fills with
死亡之雾
. The buffs should be seen as bonuses, rather than a necessity.
巨镰横扫
increases the damage taken from subsequent
巨镰横扫
casts by 150% rather than 75%.
Tanks still want to taunt off each other on 3 stacks.
No meaningful changes have been made to the second phase of this encounter on heroic.
Phase Three:
Whenever an add is interrupted they will become immune to interrupts for 20 seconds due to
宿命降临
.
Players must not interrupt the adds
星辰冲击
cast, as this may cause a
宇宙道标
cast to go uninterrupted as the add is immune to interrupts for 20 seconds.
No meaningful changes have been made to the fourth phase of this encounter on heroic.
Mythic Difficulty
Alongside numerical changes, in which the damage from the abilities has been increased, there is no additional mechanical changes that have been made to the Argus the Unmaker encounter on Mythic difficulty according to the Dungeon Journal in phase one or two. However, phase three's ability section is missing and replaced with the following:
Upon entering phase three, Amun'thul is able to subdue Argus with a

... or, so it seems...
There is a new phase three and phase four for Argus on Mythic difficulty!

Found it very easy for a last boss when compared to Kil'jeaden in Tomb of Sergaras or Garrosh Hellscream in Siege of Orgrimmar. The fight was nice also, really enjoyed it.

Great guide, as always. However, Normal difficulty does not have the Deadly Scythe mechanic in phase 4. It is still the Sweeping Scythe ability, and it does still fall off (not a permanent debuff like Deadly Scythe). You also might want to note that in your Heroic Difficulty section rather than the current "No meaningful changes have been made to the fourth phase of this encounter on heroic."
