17 Garrison Followers Under 2 Hours [17 Alliance/14 Horde]

Being a fresh level 100, you may have found yourself in a position of having a level 3 garrison, but few followers to support it. You can slowly recruit followers from the Inn on a weekly basis, but that can be too slow for some people. In Draenor, there are many followers that you can obtain from questing, or just searching hidden areas. Some you get from just 1 quest, some are obtained by finding hidden items, and others are at the end of long, time consuming quest chains. In this guide, I'll go over all of the 'quick' ones - the ones that aren't at the end of a 1 hour long quest chain. To make things as fast as possible, I have also made maps that route out the order in which to grab these followers. I have tested it a few times and with mild knowledge of each zone, most people should be able to pick them all up in under 2 hours.
As the title says, all 17 of the followers listed in this guide are obtainable by Alliance, and 14 of them are obtainable by Horde. There is 1 Horde only follower in the Spires of Arak. The Alliance only followers are the ones in Shadowmoon Valley. The Horde have equivalents of these followers(they basically require the same effort as their counterparts) located in Frostfire Ridge. Because I don't have any Horde characters, I have no means to make a route for them. I will however list the Horde counterparts when appropriate to try to make this guide as even as possible. I'll still keep the official Horde follower count at 14 since I don't go over those 4 in enough detail to warrant labeling this guide as "17 Alliance/18 Horde".
This guide assumes you are level 100, you have flying in Draenor(via

), and you have completed the quest chain that unlocks your level 2 garrison(2 of the followers for Shadowmoon valley require you to have completed

, which are required for a level 2 garrison). I think it's fair to assume that most people will eventually have completed these quests on their journey to unlock their level 3 garrison.

The Route
We'll proceed in the following order so that we may minimize the amount of time needed to grab these followers. If you're Alliance, we'll be starting in Shadowmoon valley. If you're Horde you won't have any followers in Shadowmoon Valley, so you're starting zone will be Gorgrond. As stated earlier, I'll mention the Horde counterparts of the Shadowmoon Valley and link them when appropriate.
Shadowmoon Valley
We have 4 followers to grab in Shadowmoon valley, lets start with the northernmost follower,

Follow this quest chain a short ways East until you reach the final part,

Next head south to find Prophet Velen Located at coordinates and accept the

quest. You must first go through the quest chain starting with

(Part of the level 2 garrison quest chain).

north to exile's rise where you'll complete a short, 1 minute quest where afterwards you are awarded with

as a follower.

Next, head south to coordinates . At the top of a hill, you'll find

working on some crystal formation. Talk to him to begin a short event in which you'll protect him from a few waves of wolves. Talk to him again to gain

as a follower.
(Horde equivalent:

Finally, head southeast to
菲奥拉
located at . There will be many quests available, but you only need to complete a few to get her as a follower. Complete only the

Gorgrond
The second zone we have is Gorgrond. We'll have two followers in close proximity in the southern region and another mysterious item to grab in the north.
Once in Gorgrond, head to in the south to find an NPC named
布洛克
on a small plateau. Challenge him to a fight and beat him down. Once you are victorious,

will join you as a follower.
Next, head northeast slightly to . At the top of this path, you'll find an ogre named Tormmok fending off some plant enemies. Fight off a few waves of these mobs and then talk to
托莫克
to gain him as a follower.
Up next, we have the first item pick-up on our route. In total, we'll be grabbing four "Mysterious" items in order to acquire

as a follower. This is the first of those items and can be found at , directly north of Tormmok's location (albeit a long way). The

will be in the middle of a crater. These mysterious items will have quest starters linked to them, so they'll be easy to spot.
Frostfire Ridge
The next zone on our list is Frostfire Ridge. From the mysterious ring, move directly west to reach this zone. If you're horde, this is a good time to pick up the four followers listed earlier(

Head on over to coordinates to find our second item in the mysterious set,

From there head south to to find the ogre,

locked in a cage. Click on the cage to free him and he'll run off. Next, head Northwest all the way to and free him from his cage again. Once you free him for the second time,

will appear outside of your garrison where you can recruit him as a follower.
Nagrand
From Frostfire Ridge, head south to Nagrand. We'll have three new followers to grab as well as another mysterious item.
We'll begin by exploring the northern coast to find the

In order to acquire

, we'll be collecting three pieces of fishing equipment. The first piece,

can be found in some bushes located at coordinates
Next, head south to coordinates to the top of a tower where you'll find

locked in a cage. Kill the jailer that's nearby and collect his key to free

to gain him as a follower.
To get Abu'gar's second item, head northeast to a small bit of land sticking out the side of the mountain. Here you will find

Keep heading northeast to find Abu'gar's last item at . You'll find

Now that we have all 3 of Abu'gar's items, head back southwest to . Here, you will find

himself. Give back his items and he'll join you as a follower
Next up on the list is

. Recruiting him is up to you, as he's at the end of a longish 20 minute quest chain. I feel like he should be included in this guide because he has the

trait, which makes him pretty valuable. To gain him as a follower, you must complete your Nagrand intro quest all the way to the part where you choose to build a corall or tankworks(

Head southeast to Spires of Arak. We'll have two followers for the Alliance to pick up, and three for the Horde.
Head to coordinates to find an undead

half buried in a grave. Talk to him to gain him as a follower.
Stop by coordinates to find an NPC named

at the end of a cave. Kill the enemies around him and then talk to him to gain him as a follower.
Next, head to coordinates . Accept all 3 quests here(

Finally, head back north to Talador. We'll be picking up 4 more followers in this zone.
If you're Alliance, head to coordinates to find

. If you're Horde, head to coordinates to find

. He'll send you on a single quest to kill some eels in the surrounding lake. Wait a moment after completing the quest and you'll be able to grab

as a follower.
Head a short distance to the west. Here you will find

if you're alliance(), and

if you're horde(). Grab the quest(

) to kill a couple of mobs nearby. After doing so, turn in the quest and talk to

to gain her as a follower.
Next, we'll grab the very last item we need for Archmage Vargoth. Find
神秘的帽子
located at , west from Defender Illona's/Aeda Brightdawn's position. The hat will be near the bottom of a staircase.
From there, head northeast to . Here, you will find
阿姆
. He'll offer a quest that asks you to kill an orc in a nearby building. Completing this quest will actually cause Ahm to die; however, he'll show up as a ghost outside your garrison. Talk to him then to acquire his spirit as a follower(
阿姆
).
Next, head east to Khadgar's tower at coordinates to finally grab the

. Turn in all four quests to the gnome under the tent. Once you do so, he'll summon Vargoth. Talk to Vargoth to add him to your team.
Stormshield/Warspear
Finally, head to Stormshield(Alliance) or Warspear(Horde) to find the lone Pandaren

. Start a short dialogue with him and he'll eventually ask to join your garrison forces(

). You can find him at in Stormshield if you're Alliance, or in Warspear if you're Horde.
Summary & Final Thoughts
That's it! If you're Alliance you should have an additional 17 more followers in your roster, and if you're Horde you should have an additional 14 (not including the 4 from Frostfire ridge). Remember to grab Ahm and Dagg outside your garrison when you hearth back. Once again, if you prefer a video format

This is a very helpful guide with a well organized path and good description of steps. After "garisson"-ing two alts I spent some time questing to get enough followers for them to get a good grip on buildings and missions. This guide rounded up my bag of followers. ;-) I'll also use this one first when my next alt reaches level 90.

Great guide, and some additions would make this guide even more complete in combination with the leveling guide, and to save looking around for other guides for details needed while setting up.
1. List of quests, intro to opening garrison.
2. List of quests for level 2 garrison.
3. List of quests for Alliance, to get to the 3 follower choice for Engineering etc followers.
4 List of quests for Spires to unlock the outpost, to 'Orders Commander?' and with instructions to choose the Smuggler's Den but don't turn in the quest. Use the ability until you get the Ziri'ak follower. Then choose the other building, and get both the follower and get the 20% for leveling without the 5K gold to get the follower later. Of course maybe put it in the leveling guide at the beginning of Spires of Arak section, when it would be the right time to do it.
5 Mark and on the maps, and put them in a tab just like the followers at the appropriate place so you don't forget while following the tabs. Of course they are items not followers, but they're handy for a fresh alt garrison so it's good to grab them while you're close.
This is basically what I'm doing manually when setting up new 100's between this and a few other guides, add these parts in here and there would just be two browser tabs to use, this guide and the leveling 90-100 guide.

Mostly for horde but I guess some of it can be used for ally. I explained a little bit what to do and also added paste/tomtom waypoints. I didn't make all the ways because those were enough to get me going, hope it helps some of you.
Frostfire Ridge
Mulverick needs a considerable questline, so we're skipping that one.
Get all 3 quests from both Shadow Hunter Rala e Shadow Hunter Mala, after turning in them, there will be a 4th quest, finish and you will get Shadow Hunter Rala.
Now get a quest from Rokash, once you turn it in, he's all yours.
To Na'Shra, get the quest, turn it in wait until she goes to her hut and she's yours.
For Dagg, you have to visit 2 spots and free him, now if he's not on the first spot, go to the second one, free him and then go back to the first, after freeing him both times, he will be by your Garrison's entrance

After gathering all Abu'gar's objects, use the last waypoint and talk to him and he'll follow you.

Benjamin Gibb is very simple, just kill whatever is near him and talk to him, he's the exclamation mark.
The way on TomTom is for the cave entrance, just get in, slay them all and get Leorajh.
For Kimzee, accept her quest, Gazwitz's (beside her) and Exterminator Lemmy's quests (north-east 62.54, 73.83), just follow through and she'll lead you to another quest with Gazwitz.
After those are done, go to Pinchwhistle Point , 2 more quests from her and 1 from Krixel. Then 3 more quests from her and Krixel.
Next comes the quest called Flame on from Krixel, which is the last one and gives you the Salvage Yard plans and Kimzee becomes a follower level 97, took me half an hour so, might be worth it.

SUGGESTION
For players working on
catching up ALTS, especially from NEWER expansions
, there is a simple way to bypass some or all of the Zone Outpost questlines to get to the ZONE of your choice.
For example, say you want to obtain
兰特瑞索·火刃
for his Mining Ability, you can get to Nagrand and your outpost there to more quickly obtain him.
You do need to FINISH your starting zone questlines for your faction, including fighting
雷霆小径之战
or
趁热打铁
.
After that is completed, when you go to Gorgrond to meet

(Horde) or
守备官玛尔拉德
(Alliance), instead of completing the quest with the NPC with the yellow "?", look for another NPC nearby offering a quest (yellow !) which sends you BACK to your GARRISON. That quest will be

Go back, complete THAT quest and take the flight from flight master to the next zone. Repeat the process of taking the quest sending you BACK to your garrison INSTEAD of actually starting the Outpost Questline for the zone.
CAUTION: the process is a bit more complicated for
Spires of Arak
. In THAT case, you will need to go (preferrably fly) to the location where your OUTPOST would have eventually been found after a long
tedious
questline. Skip the questline and go to
/way Spires of Arak 40.2, 43.5 Axefall (HORDE)
or
/way Spires of Arak 40, 61 Southport (ALLIANCE)
Alliance waypoint location is ONLY approximate... my Horde alt did not get
that
close!
Pick up the "News From... " quest and return to your garrison.
Once you have done it for all the zones leading up to Nagrand, you will be able to simply fly back to the zone of your choice and work on the outpost in that zone.
Since Nagrand is the final zone with an Outpost Quesline, you will not be looking for a "News From... " quest.
Complete the lead-in quest depending on your faction:

for Alliance -OR-

for Horde and accept the next quest from that NPC.
That will be either

I've tried to pick up the mysterious items for the Archmage on 2 different characters. I can't seem to get the items and related quest pick ups to spawn. Is there a character level requirement or garrison level requirement?

Fen Tao
, a fat Pandaren Mistweaver Monk, should also be added to this list, you just talk to him and he's yours. It can't get much easier. Find him in Warspear for horde and Stormshield for alliance.

It should be noted that for most of this you'll have to establish your garrison first, this might not be very surprising but I'd thought I'd try it out without bulding my garrison first.
I arrived in Gorgrond on my boosted level 110 character with zero progress in Draenor and started doing some of these things.
The items for

doesn't show up at all, there's just nothing.
You can still challenge and beat
布洛克
but he doesn't offer any quest afterwards.
But! You can actually free
达戈
from his cages and once your garrison is built he'll show up by the gates.
So there's some progress you can make before establishing your garrison but it's not really worth it, it's best to just rush to establishing your garrison, except maybe for hords arriving in Gorgrond, picking up
达戈
could be done easily on their way over to their garrison.

post WoD, specially for boosted or characters you rushed thru WoD on the leveling, for his mining trait on the Garrison Mines, fly to nagrand, no need to do outpost stuff on other area, fly directly to the zone's 'entrance', and pick up

and do a short questline (~2 min) untill you can do his questline (after you do the arena quest, just head to where you turn in the quest, on the area where your Nagrand Outpost would be and pick Lantresor on it's outskirts, make sure to turn 'old quest tracking' on). Whole questline shouldn't take more than 5-10 mins for post-WoD characters.
PS: Dunno if, after picking up the extra option to fly to Ashran (with the quest) if you clicked the button to force a drop on next FP, so you could teleport to Ashran instead, for faster travelling works.

This is a totality useless site. Maps with all sorts of line drawn on them but no names of who the followers are nor their coordinates.
Here is an example of what I mean.
There is one additional follower for both Horde and Alliance in this zone, and one more mysterious artifact.
No clue as to who that follower is or what the artifact is.

This appears under the Frost Fire Ridge section description. However, I can't find any previous listing for the 5 NPC followers in parentheses. There used to be another guide that I thought was a bit more complete but I can't find it. It appears that someone is going and downvoting comments that have helpful information. Even if there is a 'substantial' questline, they should be included for the guide to be complete.
