A very nice reference on current events.

Currently (2009) there is a swine/mexican-flu pandemic and many people fear there may be a shortage of vaccins, at least for the time being. Personally I dont see why people are shocked about this, it was said 6 months ago that we wouldnt have enough for everyone till january or thereabouts.

Anyhoo.. this will most likely be the festergut hardmode achievement.

After every 4th Inhale Blight, Festergut casts Pungent Blight, which deals roughly 45k shadow damage.

Normally in the fight, Gas Spores spawn, and you use them to spread the buff Inoculated until you have 75% shadow damage resistance (3 Stacks) to the Pungent Blight attack. This achievement, requires that you do not have 3 Stacks.

In order do that, you need to make sure everyone has only TWO (2) stacks of Inoculated, this cuts the damage of the Pungent Blight by 50% instead of 75%. Even though it's a 50% reduction, you will still take heavy damage, so it's recommended that you use a damage reducing cooldown right before he casts Pungent Blight:

Druids - Barkskin
Rogues - Feint (CONFIRMED THAT THIS WORKS)
Paladins - Bubble
Priests - Shield
Death Knights - Icebound Fortitude + Anti-magic Shell
Warriors - Switch to defensive stance + put on shield and shield wall.
Warlocks - Shadow Ward
Mage - Ice Block
Hunters and Shamans don't have any damage reducing cooldowns that I'm aware of, they'll need to be shielded with Power Word: Shield from a priest.

It's recommended that you kill Festergut before the 2nd Pungent Blight because most of your damage reducing cooldowns won't be back up again.

Some number-crunching for the 25-man version:

Pungent Blight makes a HUGE leap in damage as expected of 25-man raids in comparison to 10-mans, and reveals some interesting things. The range this time is 63.375 to 66,625 shadow damage when it is unmitigated by anything. Mitigated by only 2-stack Inoculated, this drops down to a range roughly between 31,688 and 33,313 damage. Even with a shadow resistance aura/buff in place, most non-tank people will barely survive this without a cooldown, if they survive at all, and will certainly be at the mercy of quick 3k ticks from the fully restored gaseous blight almost immediately. Assuming that one's cooldowns will not always be available to them around the time Pungent Blight hits, some other measures may need to be taken in order to ensure survival, like possibly placing extra shadow resistance on gear or equipping something with higher stamina.

I'm expecting something between 26k-29k for people relying solely on Shadow Protection/Aura of Shadow Resistance on the 25-man encounter.

This can be done on heroic mode also, depending on how good your dps is. With the +15% buff we only had one explosion, but that shouldn't matter. If you survive one explosion you'll probably survive the second too. The only people who really have troubles (i.e. died) were hunters and (resto) shamans.

Pungent Blight hit those that died for 29k-34k. The 29k hit didn't kill the healers but they didn't use a healthstone or heal themselves so the next Gaseous Blight killed them. There was ~2 seconds time to react, so it wasn't impossible to survive. But since shamans can use Reincarnation so it wasn't a major problem.

Out of two hunters only one (MM) died on Pungent Blight explosion - the explosion hit for 34457 and wasn't resisted or partially absorbed in any way. The other hunter got saved by Divine Sacrifice. Thus, you could say that you could do this without anyone dying if you focused on giving a disc PW:Shield on those who don't really have any damage reduction ability.

So the explosion really doesn't kill people anymore, at least if proper damage reduction abilities are used (ice block, barkskin, divine sacrifice, pw: shield, pain suppression, bubble...)

Aside from shields and damage absorption effects and immunities, you can also pop a Mighty Shadow Protection Potion right before the Blight is about to go out. Average absorb would be around 5,300 damage and stacking that with a priest shield means a very nice chunk of the damage negated and you can pop a healthstone if you have one.

That will also give you a buffer against the next tick of the room-wide AOE once all of the blight is 'barfed' back up by Festergut, which can be quite dangerous. Not a bad idea for the whole raid to chug one of the those shadow pots and try to get some Pre-HoTs going up so that the AOE damage doesn't kill you right after.

Pretty easy as of 4.2. Just have everyone spread out and zerg the boss. When the spores spawn, don't group up. Stay spread out and the boss should die before you even get a 3rd spore.
