If you're looking to do this, it'll take you a little while. For me it was 5 1/2 hours from start to finish, starting at 375 fishing skill, using a +20 fishing pole and +100 lures. I had some misses until my base skill was in the 400s.

While doing this I fully skilled up fishing and caught about 1100 fish/coins. I used 31 lures, so bringing 30-40 lures is a good idea.

It's a small fountain, so if you stand close to it you'll have a lot of "cast didn't land in fishable water" errors. I stood back from the fountain a ways to maximize the chance of casts going in. If you're going to flip a gold coin in though, you'll need to move closer.

The Titanium Seal of Dalaran reward is a fun bonus. I don't know how many people will have the patience to sit at the fountain so long, but I think it'll be somewhat rare.

After realizing that I may not be the most attentive of players to achieve 80 as soon as the expansion pack dropped, I decided to focus my energy on this surprisingly entertaining achievement.

Not only did it get my fishing to 450, allowed me to get both my 500 and 1000 Fish Caught achievements and used 38 Sharpened Fishing Hooks and 2 Aquadynamic Fish Finders, but now I have an entire half of an alt-guild bank filled with sparkly coins!

In total, to complete this achievement, I fished out 115 copper coins, 83 silver coins and 38 gold coins.

The humour on each of the coins was enough to keep me from pulling out my hair for a few hours, but I started getting a bit frustrated waiting for the last few coins. If you want to complete this achievement, be prepared to put some serious time in...you're in for a long haul!

I've been getting another coin roughly every time I log in. I'm starting to think Je-pedo Buzzkill's main motive for sending them is not to congratulate me for my collection.

Additionally, I feel the need to add my disgust that there is A Peasant's Silver Coin, but no Nat Pagle coin >:{ Where's the love?

It might be worth noting that if you run down into the underbelly before going after this achievement you can pick up some Underbelly Elixir which can turn you into a Hungry Tuskarr for 10 mins, giving you a +50 fishing buff.

It might save you some time early on if you plan on skilling up in the fountain.

I did the bulk of this yesterday (just waiting on one gold coin) here are a few pointers:

- Stand a few paces away from the fountain, you will get less errors that your cast didn't land in water that way.
- Copper and Silver coins can be sold to the vendor standing next to the fountain.
- Gold coins can be used to toss it back into the pool to give a 2 minute "Lucky" buff which gives you a better chance to fish up coins.
- Be sure to have more than 2 minutes on your fishing lure before tossing in a gold coin!
- You must fish these coins up yourself, even though you can give them to friends, they won't get the achievements.
- Once you max out your fishing skill you can just purchase Bright Baubles instead of blowing all your more expensive fishing lures.
- Be patient! I've put probably 4 or 5 hours into this so far. Hopefully there will be some other people fishing for you to chat with while you get this.

Anyone got any tips for finding a usable spot to fish from? I've been back and forth from the wall to the edge in short steps and not once managed to land a cast. Try to cast 5 times or so, tap the move button to move the least possible, then do it again. Hundreds of casts and not one hit.

so far i've caught around 600 'fish' from the fountain.

i still haven't got the achievement yet, missing one copper and one gold coin :-(

in the case of several coins i have recieved as much as 10 duplicates (thank you FB). this is getting fairly annoying...

Update: now at 1000 'fish' still missing kel'thuzads gold coin. anyone else having issues getting that one last coin?

A point that isn't mentioned anywhere that people may find useful... it's not any fountain in Dalaran, it's one specific one. The problem I was having fishing was that I was at one of the ones that doesn't work, like in the middle of Runeweaver's Square.

The one you need is next to the bank, with the fishing trainer/vendor next to it. It's a D shaped pool with water running down the rocks.

Try stacking like 4 gold coins in your inventory and then use them 1 by 1. You virtually get a lot more chances to complete the achievement this way, you always get new gold coins eventually this way :)

(First of all, you should get the Weather-Beaten Fishing Hat, instead of using +100 lures, in the mid 400's you won't lose a fish)

OK! After ~5 hours of fishing and 500 casts I finally finished this.
That's kind of unlucky really, most people should finish within ~350-400 casts but hey some of us have to get the bad RNG.

Because I was getting really bored as I was doing this I tried to calculate the "droprate" of the coins for this (ie. their quality). Just remember these are approximate from about 200 casts each which isn't a very high number of casts to be accurate.

Without Gold Coin buff: (242 attempts)
Goldfish/Fish Hooks - 70% (169 catches)
Copper Coins - 15% (36 catches)
Silver Coins - ~8% (19 catches)
Gold Coins - ~7% (18 catches)

With Gold Coin buff: (209 attempts)
Goldfish/Fish Hooks - 39% (81 catches)
Copper Coins - 26% (55 catches)
Silver Coins - 20% (42 catches)
Gold Coins - 15% (31 catches)

So by using coin buff you basically double your chance to catch the coins. Happy hunting.

El's lists Dalaran fishing as requiring 525 skill to land 100% of your casts. This means you can switch to +75 lures at 420, assuming you have the easily obtainable Mastercraft Kalu'ak Fishing Pole. These lures are conveniently available from the fishing trainer standing at the fountain.

Working toward this achievement is actually relatively entertaining as far as fishing goes, and it isn't a bad way to work your way up toward 450. I finished this up at around 435 skill, though probably about 20-25 of that skill was earned elsewhere. Good luck!

I'm not entirely sure on this, but it definitely seems that you have a higher chance at catching different coins as you collect different ones. Meaning, if you're missing x amount of coins in a certain section of the achievement list, you have a higher chance of catching the "x" coins rather than the "y" (caught already) coins.

It may just be simple probability + statistics that prove me wrong, or maybe I got extremely lucky doing this achievement, but it worked out in a way that I never really caught more than 2-3 of each coin in each section, leading me to form this conclusion.

In any case, I definitely suggest collecting 4-5 gold coins at once and then using them in a chain like a previous poster said. Works out very nicely :]

This indeed can take some time. Took me a total of 1439 casts over a period of 3 nights to get all the coins. This is with 450 fishing skill and 75 lure on Seth's Graphite Fishing pole with no other fishing equipment at level 71.

Finally done with this achievement.

Solo'd this on my level 80 sham..... nvm.

Great way to finish leveling up fishing, get the 500 fish and 1000 fish achievements, catch up on trade chat babble, read the some cute scribblings on some coins and maybe find a rare good PUG. Seems like win/win/win to me.

There's a vendor right at the fountain to grab more lures and sell your goldfish to when your bags get full.

Started working on this achievement at 375 fishing. I read the comments here and was expecting to complete it in 5 or 6 hours (3 if I was as lucky as some)... 13 hours later at 450 fishing I got my last coin. Don't get discouraged if it takes longer than what some have posted.

Break up the time by running below and search for an Underbelly Elixir or two. As mentioned above they will help. A little tip if you try to use the Elixir and don't get the Tuskarr. Remove the Underbelly Elixir buff before drinking again. I wasted a number of potions at one point trying to get the buff. Nothing seemed to happen until I removed the buff I had.

I don't know if this was just a random thing but I seemed to get at least one gold coin back when I tossed one in if I didn't miss any of the corks as they bobbed. This might not be a rule or anything but towards the end it seemed to hold true.

I think Dalaran officials need to look into making the fountain larger. I caught over 500 Fountain Goldfish. There might be some trouble if D.H.I.T.A. hears about the over crowded conditions the fish have to endure. Poor guys...

I finished this achievement the other day. I held on to every copper and silver coin I caught in the process. Just thought I would post my totals. I did not count Fountain Goldfish, Bent Fishing Hooks, Sewer Carp or my total number of casts. Nor did I count the number of Gold Coins caught repeatedly for There's Gold In That Fountain. I know I caught many of the Gold Coins in excess of 5 times with the most probably being Teron's Gold Coin. The last coin I caught was Prince Kael'Thas Sunstrider's Gold Coin.

While this information is specific to my experience expect to spend several long fishing sessions in front of the Dalaran fountain. The Titanium Seal of Dalaran is a nice little reward.

Now onto Master Angler of Stranglethorn which seems to be the hardest one to get especially on a PvP server.

while i was fishing in was standing all i got was golden fishes for some reason and a copper every half hour or so, then my buddy walks by with his titanium seal and told me to try sleeping cause thats wat he does, so i did and boom 3 gold in a row and a few silver after, i didnt have the lucky buff nor did i throw a gold coin back in and i gotten the gold and copper achievements can any1 else confirm that sleeping increases you coin drops or was it luck i had

Did this tonight in roughly 4 hours, didn't keep track of how many of each type of coin I got but I caught 239 Fountain Goldfish. Arthas' Gold Coin was also my last one (like a poster above). Feels good to have this one out of the way!

I was actually quite pleased with this achievement after doing it twice; the first time on my paladin it took 5 hours and I'm still waiting for a few of the copper ones. On my druid, all it took was two hours.

Just use the sharpened fish hooks, I've been stockpiling those babies. Compared to the other fishing achievements this wasn't too bad. Still need the sewer rat though.

If you do wish in the dalaran fountain there are somethings to think about

This foutains rate for not granting or screwing with your wish is very high

It will never give you only what you wished for

and do you really want to throw a coin into a fountain that in about ten years a really nerdy person is going to sit there fishing it for 10+ hours for a title that they can lord over others?

Here's some depressing math:

At the time I'm writing this, 878000 items have been fished up from the fountain and recorded on Wowhead. 7600 of each copper and silver coin, 3800 of each gold coin, and the rest were goldfish and bent hooks. That means each silver and copper coin has a 0.86% chance of being fished up per cast, and each gold coin has a 0.43% chance of being fished up per cast.

I'm not counting failed casts or sewer casts, since those are on a different loot table. I am also not distinguishing between casts with and without the Lucky buff. (This will even itself out over time, since your chance to have the buff is the same as everyone else's.)

There are 23 copper, 15 silver, and 15 gold coins. That makes silver coins the easiest achievement to obtain, copper the next hardest, and gold the hardest achievement.

From these numbers, someone with more time on their hands could probably calculate how many casts it will take on average to get all the coins. I know just enough about statistics to be able to point out that, if you only have one coin left to get, and it's a gold coin, it will probably take you another 200 or so casts.

I finished this achievement today, with 686 casts total, and my raw fishing skill levelling from about 275 to 377. (About because I also did fishing dailies (4 total) and knocked out some Highland pools as well)

I finished the Silver achievement first, at cast 417. My last silver coin was the A Peasant's Silver Coin. When I finished this achievement I had 8 copper and 6 gold coins remaining.

I finished the Copper achievement at cast 604 with Murky's coin, but I caught the second to last coin (Vargoth) at cast 603. When I completed the Copper achievement, I lacked 3 coins.

My last three Gold coins were: Chromie's (Caught @ 623); Teron's (Caught @ 682) and Thrall's (Caught at 687).

I used gold coins for luck as I caught them, and had Tiffany Cartier's +30 pole, and sharpened fishing hooks, for a total of +130 to my raw fishing skill.

Oddly enough, I caught Elling Trias' coin a whopping 19 times, but there were exactly 10 coins I only caught once.

So after hours of trying to complete this I had 1 copper and 1 gold remaining. The next two casts I received the 2 coins I needed. It was funny cause I got a bunch of gratz's from the peeps around me for the copper and then a bunch of wtf gratz again. Good times all around. Oh and not to mention I won STV event on my first try earlier in the day.

Edit: Also on 2 occasions I had the gold coin buff and clicked the bobber as soon at the buff was at zero and the loot table had nothing in it... weird.

The chance for you to catch you last coins will be:

Copper:

Chance of catching it in 1 catch = 0,22*(1/23) = 0,00956 = 0,956%
Chance of not catching it = 1-0,00956 = 0,99043 = 99,043%
Which gives:
1-0,99043^x=0,5
Where x = amount of catches. I also picked 0,5 which is 50% due to that's how many catches you'll need on average.
This gives x = 72

Silver:

1-0,99066^x=0,5
x=74

Gold:

1-0,99466^x=0,5
x=130

This is assuming dropchance for copper=22%, silver=14% and gold=8%. So on average you'll need to throw your fishing lure 130 times for the last gold coin, 74 for silver and 72 for copper.

Please correct me if my math is faulty as there was a long time ago I did this before.

As of 3.1 this is great achievement to do at beggining fishing,you get achievement,and also lot of skills,sadly it will take looong time,took me about 6hours to fish all together,but got 1-354 skill from this

Just finished mine about 5 minutes ago. Last 2 coins i needed were Aragul's Gold Coin and Elling Trias' Copper Coin.

Well over 700ish casts later, I finally got Aragul's Gold Coin, got the achievement. My lucky buff and hook buff were running out, so I rebuffed my fishing pole, tossed in a coin for good luck and BAM, very next cast was Elling Trias' Copper coin. 3 achieves - 2 casts = bedtime for me!

Since no one has done the statistical analysis yet, I decided to do it:

Before plugging the numbers I had to figure out what the drop rates were. Dalaran's Zone Fishing Tab gives the number of fishing items looted in Dalaran, but includes items fished from the sewers as well as other parts of the city and junk items. Those items have to be filtered out, which leaves the following:

Gold Coins 0.44% (x15)

If your fishing is not of high enough level, or you fish too close to the edge of the fountain, you will fish up other junk which will reduce the above percentages and slow your progress. So it pays to use your best lures, and to make sure your floater lands near the middle of the fountain (if you fish up items for the sewers, then you know you are landing too close to the edge).

So, using the above "best case" statistics, it will take on average:

737 casts to find all the Gold Coins
373 casts to find all the Silver Coins
420 casts to find all the Copper Coins

Note that 58% of people will have found all the coins of a particular type within the average number of casts listed above. For some it will be quicker, and for others it will be slower.

More useful statistics are as follows:

Interpretting these stats:

The odds of completing this achievement in less than 200 casts are over a million to one.
About 1 in 8 people will be lucky enough to get all the coins and complete the achievement in 500 casts or less.
Most people (72%) will need between 500 and 1000 casts to find all the coins and complete the achievement.
Less than 1 in 6 people will need to exceed 1000 casts to find all the coins and complete the achievement.
About 1 in 500 people will be really unlucky and will need to fish over 2000 times to find that last gold coin and complete the achievement.

Still trying to finish the gold coin part. I had the actual coin I need Andruin Wrynn's Gold Coin but got the unfortunate can not loot this item at the time. The lucky buff must've been just coming off and it screwed it up. I'm on 3 straight days of 4-5 hrs fishing now for this one coin. I've gotten every other gold coin to come up multiple times now but this one coin seems to allude me. Frustrating but I'll keep going until I get the damn thing again.

I just finished this achievement a couple days ago, was a great way to kill some time, though I think more than half of my efforts where spent just trying to get my last gold coin (Having like 4 Duplicates of Arthus's one is kinda grating).

If your gonna attempt this grab yourself the "Fishing Buddy" addon.

It will let you automatically switch all your settings to the best fishing setup when you have a pole equipped and auto switch em back when you don't.
It also keeps track of everything you find, and even gives some nifty statistics on your likelihood of catching a given "fish" at your current skill level.

With that enabled all I had to do was stand by the fountain, double right click to cast. Position my mouse over the bobber, and then ignore it till I herd the "catch" noise. It auto loots, and then I double right click again, rinse, repeat.

Using that method I ended up doing this while watching TV and a couple movies.

I got the coin (finally!) yesterday. But I don't recommend trying to level your fishing while collecting the coin, as I did.

1) You don't get too many coin catches at lower levels. I really started pulling in the coins when I got over 300 fishing (with buffs). Until then, it was very miss or miss.
2) You don't catch much of anything else. You lose out of cooking/gold by fishing in the fountain. Nothing else to catch in there. You can't cook Goldfish (sadly).

As a point of reference, I leveled from ~25 fishing to ~355 fishing JUST fishing for coins. As you can see, it takes quite a few casts to pick them up this way.

So, level your fishing elsewhere, get some gold and cooking points, then come get the coins when you're a bit higher.

Oh, and my last coin was the gold Bronzebeard.

Hell yeah, i'm missing one_single_gold_coin.
Advice: Do the gold coin achievement first, don't loot silver/copper coins.
Your chances are pretty small to get one gold coin out of 15 instead of one copper/silver coin out of 15/22. Right.

I was a bit bored while fishing for this achievement and was curious as to what the expected time is till one catches all the coins. To put a sort of upper bound on it, I decided to write a short script in MATLAB to actually run a bunch of trials and figure what the expected number of trials/standard deviation are for this problem. If the probabilities of getting each coin were all equal, then this would be basically the Coupon Collector Problem, which can be solved exactly. But unfortunately this one is more complicated.

I used the probability of getting a coin upon catching something to be 22.2% for copper, 13,7% for silver, and for 8.0% for gold. This leaves a 56.1% chance of catching garbage. These probabilities are from Runawaynow's data, which *includes* the Lucky Buff. So assuming you toss the gold coins in as Runawaynow did, these statistics should give a good estimate of the time you'll spend fishing out these coins.

Without further ado, for 10,000 trials:

Expected number of catches till completion: 660

Standard deviation: 220

This means under normal conditions, 95% of all people seeking this achievement will execute somewhere between ~210 and 1,100 casts (these numbers are rounded).

It only took me about 2 hours to get all the coins from start to finish. I was bored one day, was looking though my acheivments, and was like "hey i should try this"
found out which fountain in trade, equipped my fishin pole, and started fishing
2 hours later i was done
my guild hates me because i'm always doing stuff like this: getting the impulse to farm for rare stuff, and getting it fairly quickly ^_^

I got this achievement today, and it only took me about 6 hours of play time to get. The easiest way to do this achievement is early in the morning or late at night when the servers are at minimum capacity. You have a way better chance of getting the coins when fishing alone rather than fishing with 4 or 5 other people there. i started doing this with my fishing at 255 however expect to catch many duplicates.

All you ppl saying this is a bad achievment since it takes like 5hours to complete: I've been trying to get this achievment since August 2009. Fishing atleast 30min / day almost daily and I just can't seem to get Arthas Gold Coin. This coin has kept me from getting then Salty title for over 4 months now. For instance today I stood for 5h and caught 276 Copper/202 Silver and 118 Gold coins but not a single Arthas.. This achievment is just stupid if you have the RNG completly against you.

RNG is a $%^&*!

I just wanted to add for anyone interested, starting from 1 fishing and ONLY fishing in the fountain I completed this quest with 364 fishing. Lots of duplicates, total casts 1691.

Used the strong fishing pole from trainer and the +75 lures the entire time.

The last coin took me 3 hours straight to get.

Took me 971 casts.
However I wasn't using any lures or anything to boost my fishing skill. I think this had a big impact on why it took me so long.

To add insult to injury, I put a lure on after not getting the last coin I needed for the last 4 hours or so and BOOM. Got it first time.

Heres the breakdown of what I caught.

45 bent fishing hooks
6 fish bones from people putting the blood in the fountain
6 bloodtooth frenzys, as above

I have the seal on my hunter now... Thanks to movie desk i watched wyatt earp the first nite and thombstone( yeah i felt like a cowboy on that week) and on the 3rd nite i fish for an hour or so ( i use in total 27 lures and went from 390 to 450 fishing)... i fished around 00:00 to 2-3 on those nite, Arthas was the last one i got.

My bears is better to get use to the dalaran fish because hell be eating those for the next 6 months... Maybe more i have a priest

I got this in 8 hours total. The first 7 hours of that was in one sitting.

At about the 4 hour mark I had Silver and Copper completed, missing 4 gold coins. By the 6 hour mark all I was missing was Arugal's Gold Coin.

At 7 hours I went to bed. Uppon logging on again I fished for half an hour, no luck. Walked away for a while, did some childrens week stuff, ran Violet Hold. Running through Dalaran to turn in some Violet Hold quests I throw in my line and BAM. Achivement completed.

I started fishing with 330 skill, was maxed out before I was done.

Just a little tip: You do NOT need to have particularly high Fishing skill to catch coins. (This may be part of the patch change to Fishing that removed minimum fishing requirements from zones.) I was in the low 200s when I started on the fountain, and I'm still only up to 350 and have only a few more coins to go (5 copper, 1 silver, 4 gold). Since the Dungeon Finder was enabled, I've just fished a few minutes at a time while waiting out the DPS queue.

So this achievement is in reach of even the casual fisherman. No more dealing with hardcore fishing guilds with their hyperserious approach to fishing and their insane fishing skill requirements; no more watching endless videos on Fishspot.

Concerning the drop rates: I farmed this achievement in a day. I have a fairly large sample of casts, so I figured I'd share the results with wowhead as they are large enough to be fairly accurate. This is tossing a gold back into the fountain every time I get it for the buff.

Just because I didn't see anyone else saying the lowest level they were able to catch a coin at.

I caught a Gold Coin at fishing skill 28 with no lure attached. Hope this info proves useful for someone. :)

It was Tiron Fordring's coin that killed me

Fishing skill went from 225 to 394 however and in the end I had fished up 416 Fountain Goldfish.
I'm a Loremaster, I'm gonna say this was easier but a much bigger PITA.

Can anyone confirm of diminishing returns from repeated coin tosses?

On the first coin toss I can catch all coins for the next 2 mins, then on the 2nd toss only a couple, and the 3rd like 1 coin within a 6-7 min period. If I wait for like an hour and toss a coin I'll fish up all coins again for 2 mins. Anyone else have this?

I started this achievement at ~250 fishing and finished it at around 378. using fishing lures is a good idea to minimize your "failed" fishing attempts and speed up this achievement. took me a few days fishing

Well.. as I read the comments here.. I am getting scared of this achievment :o) about 3 hours of fishing and I´m missing 2 gold coins and 2 copper ones. Silver is done already.

Edit: About 2 more hours of fishing and I´m missing one last copper coin :( Gold and Silver done :)

The coins do not have to be fished up during certain times of the day. I finally sat down and completed this achieves having ZERO coins prior and it took me about 3 hours, 600 casts. I have to say I got pretty lucky at catching the gold coins (granted many were repeats) so I kept the "Lucky" fishing buff on me near constantly. The first to get knocked out were the silver coins about 2 hours in. The next was the copper 12 min later, and the gold about 15 minutes after that. All in one sit down, from around midnight-3am server time. All I can say is thank god I finally got this crap and I'm keeping the last gold coin I caught lol--now off to find that damn bloated salmon

omg im so lucky! i got this so fast it felt like 2 hours. im at 525 fishing level + weather beaten fishing hat + jeweled fishing pole for a total of 635 fishing skill. took a total of 278 casts. here are my stats recorded by fishing buddy curse add on

Not sure if the drop rates on these were increased or what, but this took me way less time than I expected going in. Took me a little over 2 hours for all of them. Got the 500 Fish achievement right before I started, and by the time I was done I was at 940/1000 for 1000 Fish.

Just keep tossing in the gold coins you get them and the buff wears, I got 3 fairly quickly and never ran out. Maybe just luck but...knowing how my luck goes, seems unlikely.

The first time I did this with my priest it took 10+ hours of fishing and lots of hairpulling. Completed it for my Deathknight today in under 2 hours with minimal fuss. The drop rate increase is very noticeable.

PLEASE NOTE: Throwing a gold coin into the Dalaran fountain will increase your chances of fishing up further coins for a short time. Do not make the same mistake I did and assume throwing them in is just a silly thing you can do for fun like throwing a paper zeppelin at another player. Blizzard should have really said more than "Use: Throw back into Dalaran fountain" on the gold coins. For someone like me who wanted to save the coins, it seemingly gives us no incentive to get rid of them

If you're curious, it can take upwards of 5 hours to fish up all the coins you need if you don't use the gold coin buff. Yes, I speak from experience. There should really be an achievement for not using any gold coins to get all the coins. >_>

If anyone reading this could upvote this comment that would be great. Don't let others suffer the way I did!

Make sure you've enough space in your bags. Really. If you do not have enough space, the coin you fish up won't count for the achievement, and there's no way to find it bag. At least, when you've autoloot on.
I was 2 coins close to the achievement and I finally got Sylvanas' coin, but my bags were full. I've seen every gold coin after that at least 3 times, except for Sylvanas' coin ^^

Oh, and maybe a good deed will help. Some lowbie came asking for money, and the moment I gave him some, Sylvanas' coin showed up :P

P.S I suggest yourself to grab some underbelly elixir which have 33% to transform you in a hungry Tuskarr which increase your fishing skill by 50 and grab some Glow worm rewarded from Marcia Chase's bag of fishing treasures.
For the statistics I suggest you to download the Add-on Fishing Buddy it will count what you fish... very cool

Done this achievement in one night, very easy to do u just need some patience.. and luck.
When i started i was 381 and now i am 443, aswell as i had 13 gold coins spare
I always had 150+ lure on the Kalu'ak pole. Captain Rumsey's Larger are a good drink to have while doing this. Dont forget about the flasks u can pick in the underground of Dalaran, transform u into a hungry Tuskarr increases fishing by 50

The new achievement system seems a little confused on this one. I earned this meta on my bank toon but never received the 达拉然泰坦神铁徽记. After opening a ticket and asking on trade someone asked if I'd earned all the achievements on the same toon? I thought I had. Turned out the 一枚铜板 had been earned on my main. I promptly fished up the one copper coin I was missing on the bank toon but still no titanium seal. I logged out and back in and finally the reward was in the mail.

Got this one today FINALLY. I had been doing it as part of a fishing/cooking route. I'd do the cooking dailies and fishing dailies here in Dalaran. When done, fish 10 mins in the fountain before porting to Og to do the fishing/cooking dailies there (and TB and Shattrath) before hearthing back here the next day.

10 mins (sometimes more if I tossed a gold coin back into the pool) daily...

I got the achievement on one of my chars today and got a mail from Jepetto. Being on a trial account I can't use the mailbox, but I went to see Jepetto and asked him for a replacement and got it.

I logged onto another char, pulled up the achievement list and it said the achievement was completed account-wide, yet when I visit Jepetto for the coin he offers me nothing.

So the achievement seems to be awarded to all your chars but the coin only to the char that actually did the fishing.

I submitted to the screenshot section a picture of my bags having fully farmed this achievement from start to finish in one sitting, which took me from around 75 fishing to 550 fishing.

By the finish I had fished up:

180 copper coins
103 silver coins

Now with the gold, I used any duplicates as soon as I got them to get the lucky buff, so only 15 are displayed, one of each, but i probably used about 30 duplicates, if I had to guess, so

45 estimated gold coins.

for a grand total of

328 coins.

Now I finished the copper achievement first, and fished up a lot of the extra copper coins having already finished the achievement, so it took me much less then 180 copper coins to finish the copper achievement, I just thought this data and the accompanying screenshot might provide interesting/helpful.

I managed to do this achievements with "only" 651 casts :)
It took me a while but i finally got the last copper coin that i needed and now i've gotten well on my way to being called Salty!

Just completed The Coin Master. Started at Fishing level 545, Took approx 3 Hours and 454 casts,tossing the gold coins back for the buff, this didn't always make a difference to the amount of coins fished up.Stood a little way back from the water on the dark grey "pave edging" within reach of Marcia Chase to sell the junk and coins when the bags were full.Collected:

It took me around 3-4 hours, i always used 水下诱鱼器 or 明亮的小珠 from 玛西娅·切斯, don't forget to throw again the gold coins, so you can get additional luck to obtain more coins.

I suggest to throw the gold coins when you just need 15 or less coins, because when you need all the coins is easer to obtain them without getting the same coin every time.

I did this with 600 fishing skill.

After 616 tries I Fished the next items:

I was crazy enough to waste another 5 hours fishing at the fountain for all of the coins on a second toon. Earned each achievement but never got credit for The Coin Master, nor received the Titanium Seal of Dalaran. So this seems bugged for any additional toons that want the coin.

I've been waiting most of the week for something other than a canned auto-response from a GM saying each character that wants the coin needs to complete the achievement.

As we discussed in-game, this achievement is account wide, and at the moment it is only possible to get the Titanium Seal of Dalaran once per account. We've had a lot of complaints about this, however.

So we have sent in a bug report to the devs about this, and have them check if that is really what they intended. So there's a decent chance that it will get changed in a future patch or hotfix. For the moment, we must treat this as 'working as intended', however.

took me around 6 hours in total to complete. I completed in about 2 hours, and then 30 minuets after I finished . I had 4 copper coins left after completing the other 2 achievements. I got 3 in about an hours time but was the worst. I don't know the exact time but im guessing it took me 3-4 hours alone on just this 1 coin. I saved everything in my bags so ill list my stats.

I dont have any special fishing gear to increase fishing skill but i do have Big Iron Fishing Pole which gives me +20 and i was using the +75 lures.

Heres my stats:
- Copper coins: 179
- Silver coins: 133
- Gold coins: 43 (in bag when completed).
--Im guessing I used up about 15 gold coins for the buff but im not really sure.

-Fountain goldfish: 463
-Sewer Carp: 23
- Magic Eater: 8

I dont remember the exact number but I had fishing around level 400. I ended up getting it to 600 while fishing for the last coin.

Having done this in earlier days on other characters, I must say that this seems much easier to do now than it used to be. I had just used my free boost for prepurchasing Warlords of Draenor to start out a new toon at level 90. I decided to work on this achievement as a means of leveling up Fishing on this character. Starting at Fishing 1 skill, the coins began dropping around an effective skill level (actual skill + lures) of about 300. Right about the same time I reached an actual skill level of 450, I had fished up all of the copper, silver, and gold coins. The entire process took me about 2.5 hours. I don't remember it being near this fast before. Even though I got credit for the copper, silver, and gold coin achievements, I did not get credit for the meta, nor did I receive another Titanium Seal of Dalaran. Since this meta-achievement is now account-wide and I already had it, I can see why it didn't pop up when that last coin dropped, but it does leave me wondering how one can now receive the coin to toss once you have the achievement on the account. My other characters got the achievement and their seals before this changed to account-wide. I filed a ticket and will follow up with the response.

EDIT: Starter accounts can now only get 100 fishing skill, so I will NOT recommend trying this.

However, if you should somehow manage anyway and the Titanium Seal of Dalaran is sent in the mail, fret not - you can go to the toy vendor in Dalaran and he will give it to you. (I discovered this months after writing the comment below)

I decided that the little lvl 20 druid on my starter account would be cool with this achievement, which I've already gotten on my main account years ago.

So, I started fishing... As starter accounts have a maximum fishing skill of 375 (next level costs 12 gold to train, and starter account chars can only carry 10g), I caught a lot of junk along the way, even with Weather-Beaten Fishing Hat and +75 lure. It didn't even help much when I got the +30 Bone Fishing Pole from the daily fishing quest, sadly.

Many, many hours and countless coins (You must have gotten poor, Uther!), junk items (WHO leaves Torn Sails in a fountain?) and Fountain Goldfish (They sure needed a culling of the insanely high population), I just got the achievement!

I was overjoyed for about 5 seconds... Then I realized the reward is sent per mail - which can't be accessed on a starter account.

So, if you're a crazy insane starter account achievement hunter like me, don't get too exited about this achievement. You can get it, sure - but you can't get the reward. Instead, you get a mail icon that will haunt and taunt you to the edge of whatever sanity you have left.

It seems the droprate has been greatly increased. I got the coins for all 3 achievements within 1½ hour (approx 350 drops). I threw a golden coin in whenever the "luck" buff went off and had an uptime of at least 70%

Honestly, the worst part about this achievement is that you can get stuck not on the Gold coins, but on the copper ones.

Anybody wondering how doable this achievement in Pandaria and beyond: I went from having zero coins towards this meta to having the Titanium Seal of Dalaran in my toybox in 45 minutes. I had a fishing skill of 600 + an assortment of buffs giving me a total skill of 740 most of the time and about 80% of my catches were coins, which went up to about 95% with a gold coin buff.

I received this achievement after 1 hour and 16 minutes while keeping a constant luck buff (gained from throwing a gold coin into the fountain) my stats from fishing buddy:

The Reward is not worth the time but i had fun doing it and mainly did it for the salty title i'm working on , anyway good fishing too ya! hope this helped!

This took about 450-500 casts and 3 hours with maxed out 700 fishing, and 140+ in buffs. Got the silver achievement first, around 200-250 casts, then bronze at 350-400. Finally got gold finished at 450-500 casts, which was Kel' Thuzad's Gold Coin.

My experience is similar to what others have posted. I started with no coins at all — not even one cast in the Dalaran Fountain. From there to completing this achievement took 2 hours and 45 minutes. The last 1 hour and 4 minutes were spent on the last 6 coins, and the 45 minutes were spent on the last 2 coins. I got the silver coin achievement first, followed by the gold coin achievement. The last coin I caught to complete the meta-achievement was Inigo’s Copper Coin. I had fishing skill of 800, plus another 60 skill points from Underlight Angler and another 10 from Nat’s Drinking Hat.

Totals were 560 casts, which yielded 252 Fountain Goldfish (45%), 30 Bent Fishing Hook (5.4%), 4 Sewer Carp (0.7%), 2 Magic Eater (0.4%), and 1 Crysal Vial (0.2%). The rest were copper coins (124 = 22.1%), silver coins (97 = 17.3%), and gold coins (50 = 8.9%).

After 10 minutes of fishing 0 coins I figured out that you need to fish the coins in the OLD DALARAN. Otherwise you will eventually fish some coins but they aren't the ones required for the toy.

Note for anyone still doing this post Legion. You have to make sure you are in OLD Dalaran not the Legion Dalaran as you will not fish up any coins but purely stuff for 你们想得美. The best thing you can do is go down to the bottom of legion dalaran through the portal in the center and take the portal to Wyrmrest Temple, then fly to where Dalaran is. I spent an hour fishing the new fountain and it took a ticket to a GM to find this out.

Spent about 30 mins fishing in new Legion Dalaran untill I remember there are two Dalaran's. So I went on over to old Dalaran in Northrend and guess what, started catching achievement coins right away

Edit: Removing the Underlight Angler and then equipping it again after throwing a coin gives you the Lucky buff again. I believe that was an issue with some poles in the past as well.

Beware, people using the Underlight Angler with the Way of the Flounder trait.

I just used coins while that effect was active and I didn't get the Lucky buff. It seems that the coin works similar to a mob targeting you and it's unable to find you, while you are faded by the trait.

After removing the buff another coin gave me the buff without any problems.

Okay, I get this today but it was so hard... I fished two hours, to get Tirions coin. First I get the Copper, then the Silver, and last the Gold. This achievement consumes your soul, but if you can pay it, you get a totally useless coin, that can be flipped. IT WORTH IT!

I started fishing with 0% progress on achievement and 0 Northrend fishing skill.
I used Underlight Angler with Sharpened Tuskarr Spear buff and Nat's Hat buff every 10 min. I will recommend Oversized bobber if you fishing with more players.

After 4 hours of fishing I hit first achievement A Penny For Your Thoughts with 1 Silver and 3 Gold coins remaining. After 3 casts i hit Silver in the City. After this i started tossing Gold coins for the buff in the fountain as much as I can.

Finally, after next 1,5 hour, I catched my last Gold coin and There's Gold In That There Fountain + The Coin Master hit up.

At the end i catched after 5,5 hours:
125 Copper Coins (excluded A Footman's Copper Coin)
89 Silver Coins
42 Gold Coins (Included tossed in fountain)
350 Fountain Goldfish

I used Underlight Angler with Weather-Beaten Fishing Hat buff. The last 100 attempts where only to get .

I did it two different days, a couple hours each day, altogether probably less than four hours.

I got all the copper achievement first, but it was close. There was only one coin needed for the copper and silver achievements, and there were more coins needed for copper, so I was sure I was going to get the silver achievement first, but that's randomness for you. Funny thing, I then ended up getting all the gold coins before the last silver coin. I needed like five more.

This beats the 22 Pound Lobster and Giant Sewer Rat achievements.

It took me 3 hours in total with max fishing,
after 1 hour i had silver coin completed and 4 gold and 2 bronz left,
it took 2 more hour to get remaning ones.

It took me a solid 6 hours of fishing to get all the coins except for the 阿克蒙德的金币 which took me another 3 hours.
Things I've observed:

I had the Northrend fishing 75/75 before I started fishing. But still if you could use a fishing rod or other alternatives that would increase your fishing skills, coins were dropping more frequently.
Once I have achieved 城中的银币 and 一枚铜板, gold coins started dropping more frequently.

While it may not be the most helpful comment, I would like to ease the boredom of fishing to those players who don't really like fishing that much.

I set 钓鱼 on M4. So it doesn't require us to use the keyboard to fish anymore. And make sure you set it on auto-loot.

You can sell all the coins you've fished up to 玛西娅·切斯 so it is not really a big deal but you are going to be more efficient if you have emptied your bags before coming.

It is probably worth purchasing and using 巨型鱼漂 Oversized bobber and 明亮的小珠.

If you have a Netflix account, now you can actually watch it on mini-screen right next to your fishing bobber without Alt+Tab so it may feel less like a chore.

Farmed it and completed it in 3 hours on a character that had done 0 fishing beforehand.

Mind you, that third hour was only to get the last bronze and gold coin I needed, FML

Just completed it from 0 fishing in about 4 hours. In the end I ran out of gold coins for the buff only missing the one from Arthas (it had to be him - I have hundreds of trys for Invincible and still no mount :D) which was really painful although the achievement is not really that intensive as in wotlk it seems.

I needed ~800 trys. If you start from skill 0, save your gold coins until you have 75/75, you might also save them a bit longer so you definitely have enough for the final phase. As far as I can tell, if you run out of coins in the end only missing one or two gold coins, it starts getting really boring since you don't really get coins (only fish or trash). Don't forget to buy the fishing rod in Oribos which grants you +15. Good luck!

I just spent a whole first day of the new year by fishing for coins in a fountain in World of Warcraft. Got the achievement though, this gonna be an amazing year for sure.

So I decided to try again, hoping for better chance in Shadowlands.

I barely interrupted fishing at all and did it with background sound enabled, watching something on a second display.
I’d advice to use an 巨型鱼漂 and standing at /way 52 65.5, so the click always lands on the bobber (camera zoomed in).
I received the Gold achievement after 66m, Bronze after another 34m, and Silver after another 21m, totaling around 2h, which felt longer than it was. (A single coin, 卡德加的银币, was missing for most of the remainder.)
Tossing gold coins back in, I easily kept up 好运 (for approx. 8–9±1 casts per gold coin).

Gold turnover from selling is not noteworthy at all and does itself not make up for the time spent.

If you feel much more lucky, want to waste even more life time and want to get sick and crazy about 下水道鲤鱼, try 好大的老鼠！ – no luck for me after many, many hundreds of casts in different sittings.

Here are some things everyone should know before attempting this achievement that I found out the hard way.

The gold coins do NOT stack. That means the 2 minute buff you get from a gold coin, does not turn into 10 minutes if you throw in 5 gold coins at the same time. Hang on to any extra gold coins until the 2 minute buff from the current gold coin expires and then throw in the next gold coin.
Initially your progress is going to seem to be going really good and pretty fast too but once you get the list down to just 2-3 coins per achievement, progress slows way down. With just 2-3 coins per achievement, it will take close to 1 hour per coin and once it is down to just 1 coin, the time required can range anywhere between 2-3 hours to several days if you have horrible RNG luck like I do.
As people above mentioned, try and time your lures and Captain Rumsey lager so that you do not waste any time casting those while the gold coin buff is up

finished this entire achievement whilst farming for Secret Fish and Where to Find Them, just sitting on that back Island behind the Dalaran bank. Fair warning, though, I don't think the gold coin buff works if you fish them up with the Secret Fish Goggles. I couldn't used them and placed a ticket, suggested to the GM responding that maybe it was the goggles and they agreed.

Still don't have two common fish for that achievement :(

I did something. I have the Secret Fish Goggles I was working on getting the ocean toy. I found a small island by Dalaran (45.57, 67.91) Its floating off to the side like the DHs place. I got a lot of coins flying around that island with a mount and the Secret Fish Goggles. The more people with the goggles the more the fish spawn.

To anyone reading this comment and going back to do this achievement, do not believe the people who say they did it in 2-3 hours. They are either exaggerating or were extremely lucky.

It took over 3 hours just to get the last coin I needed and while trying to get the last coin I completed the copper coin achievement 3x extra times and the Silver coin achievement 5x extra times. This realistically will take 6ish or more hours to complete. I had max skill fishing, and chained gold coin buffs whenever I had 3 or more to toss back in.

As of 10.2, it took me 3 hours, 517 (102 failed attempts) to complete this achievement.
I have 100 skill in DF fishing and used 超级鱼虫 and 荒布钓鱼帽, I have a regular dusty Fishing pole with no fishing skill increase.
One thing I didn't see on here and that would've saved me ONE hour of fishing is: Make sure you're in the Northrend Dalaran, not Legion lol
Around 1 hour in I started getting gold coins back to back so I kept that buff rolling.

Spent all day on this. ironically, the last coin i got is Artha's.
For the last hour, total: 194 items
Skill: from 409 to 426 (without buffs), use +100, +75 fish lure, +10 from food, toss the gold coin back to get lucky buff.

If anyone is crazy enough to be doing this in 2024 or beyond (hi from the past!) you can get credit for this achievement while doing . It might be worth your while to double-up while you go for the toy from that achievement. You can (and should) save the gold coins to toss back in the fountain while you do this.

The Coins are soulbound after catching them, and the vendor sell value is 62 copper. Remember to toss a gold coin in the fountain every two minutes. You get the Lucky buff, and you need it to raise your luck from approximately 0.1% to 1.4% for fishing any of the 52 coins.
