This guy is pretty easy to take down with a 5 man group, he has around 40k health and spawns adds, just keep the tank healed and a mage or warlock would be needed to aoe the adds. If you stand at the back of his little room you can avoid his aura :)

Notice that if you do not kill the adds, each will heal him for a certain amount 10 seconds after they're spawned - a mage is preferred if not a must in this situation.
Shadow resist buff is also really nice, either from priest or paladin.

The two main things to consider in this fight are:

His damage aura. Every couple of seconds, everyone in range takes shadow damage. Casters can stay out of range if the tank keeps him on the far side of the room. Use shadow resist buffs if you got em. The Felstone Good Luck Charm from the Better Late Than Never quest line in WPL is handy to have here too.

The skeletons that get spawned. Make sure you take them down fast, otherwise they heal the Baron. Stratholme Holy Water is perfect, but a mage with Arcance Explosion is just as good.

When you first enter the room note that he has a Shadow Damage Aura that covers almost the entire room, Healers/Ranged Classes should stand at the bottom left side of the room by the bone pile there. The tank should fight him up against the Top right wall so that the shadow damage aura doesn't hit the healers/ranged classes.

He hits fairly hard and has Mortal Strike himself and also summons skeleton adds fairly often.

The Skeletons adds he summons have about 400 HP and if they aren't killed within 10 seconds he consumes them and gains HP. If you are allowing skeletons to be consumed by him you will probably lose via your healer going OOM. A Mage is the best way to deal with the adds with Arcane Explosion, but Stratholme Holy Water found in crates around the instance will kill a group of them. Warlocks can also AOE them down too easily.

When the Skeletons summon they usually run to the healer pretty quickly so make note of that too.

Other than the skeletons its a pretty easy and straight forward fight.

It's also a good idea to give your tank a couple Strat Holy Waters just in case the casters can't get the skeletons in time. It saved our hides a couple nights ago. Baron was down to 1.1k health, nobody had mana, and the skeletons were about to regen him, so I popped a strat holy water that killed the skeles and crit Baron for his 1.1k hit points.

Anyone who has the Medallion of Faith (which is picked up in Archivist Galford's room in Strat SC, or can be found at times in the AH), can turn it in at the building just after you enter the UD instance. When you reach the Baron, you get an extra person to help :) Also, each party member can collect the reward after your 6th member perishes.

The strategy we've used, with excellent success, is as follows: buff up outside, then the tank will go into the room and hug the right wall, while the rest go left and stand on the bone piles. This will keep you out of the aura, and still maintain range. Once ready, the tank (ideally warrior, but can be done with a Feral Druid, or Pally) charges into the Baron. Providing the tank can hold him still, you won't need to worry about the aura. The healer should be primarily concerned about keeping the tank alive, while the rest concentrate on the Baron and adds. As mentioned above, a Mage or Warlock is ideal for the AoE on the skellies, so they die before the Baron can heal from them. However, a Pally's consecrate, and Holy Water can also work.

(the last time I ran it, we used the Medallion for the first time, and either we had a LOT of power, or it really did help with the guy who comes to your aid, as I believe only one wave of skellies even spawned before the Baron had fallen.)

Anybody had any experience taking this guy out at level 70? If so, how many does it take? Would 2 druids and a rogue do fine (a tank, a healer, and dps)?

Soloed him several times with my 70 fury warrior, only problem is the swarms of undead that comes after ramstein is slain, baron is just charge, thunderclap, demo shout + 5 sunders then pop recklessness and deathwish and beat the crap out of him, be ready with health pot or lifegiving gem tho as he hits kind of hard. :)

I've run stratholm through to this guy 7+ times and every time he wipes our group.

Hits for alot of dmg and throws a 1800dmg shadowbolts to a random target.

The fact that you can only try him once is even worse.

I tried him three times yesterday, suceeded on the first, wiped the last two. They keys are to get the tank to turn him around and pull him to the far end of the room, and for all mages, warlocks (and paladins?) to AoE the adds. Adds heal him, so kill them first and fast

The loot tables were wiped when the new patch came out, due to the large changes to the way the instance would be played. The mount probably hasn't dropped, or someone hasn't been uploading.

As long as you keep your casters away from the baron, yes he is extremely easy. But if your healers get that interruption crap you could be in trouble. Usually interrupts your spell 2-4 times before you can get it off. You just need to keep him on the other side of the room and have mages ready to aoe.

Problem with 5 Players is his mortal strike
last time we finished him with a 5 pl. grp Paladin went down on 50% (!) so hunter pet had to tank.. he ain´t that hard with a good grp.

Btw. finished him in 30:56 last time (beat it)

Can be done in PUG, can be done on blue gear. But guildies and ventrilo as well as some epics help a lot.

First, keep pulling as long as casters have atleast 50% mana, casters sit and drink as soon as possible. Allmost all trash pulls can be 3manned in there if you don't get adds so manausers can pretty effectivly drinkrotate when needed.

Ideal party setup;
Warrior, if goodgeared he can 2h tank most for increased DPS.
Priest, shackle comes very handy as well as the buff
Hybrid, supportive healing and buffs/totems as well as supportive DPS when healing not needed
Mage, AoE is very very important at the Baron
Warlock (or random DPS if you have a Shaman hybrid)

Kill spiderboss to the left first, then go the counterclockwise turn and go back to kill the mindcontroll @#$%^, continue through the narrow ally (NOT the "trap" next to the spider). Kill the silly mageboss Maleki at the stairs. Once Maleki is dead, make sure the Priest is soulstoned or that the Shaman has an Ahnk ready.

Here comes the trick, suicide run down to the gates before the Rammstein event, but don't aggro the abdominations there. Everyone dies, priest/shaman selfres and resses the whole team.

You just saved yourself 10 minutes of trash or so and have plenty of time to take on the rest of the event.

Another tipp is to have the mage+hybrid clear out the trash from inside eatch building behind the bosses while the other three continues to clear trash, this saves about a minute or two for each of the three bosses.

Ive succeded in the 45min run a few times now, the oddest setup didn't have any mage at all, all the AoE was from a holy priest (imba geared one)

I have to say, I'm getting a bit miffed at the supposed fairness in the loot table (assuming there is any fairness) - myself and a few members of my guild have taken him down over 15 times and we've seen the Beaststalker legs drop close to a half of the time. No Magister, Devout or Valor seen at all.

FYI, you don't necessarily need a Mage or even a Warlock for the Baron fight. The minion he summons are extremely extremely weak. One full-rank of Consecrate will finish them off, as will an application of Stratholm Holy Water (which can be picked up outside in the crates).

We ran this with 2 hunters, paladin (me), warrior, and a druid. The Baron went down like a lamb. Hunters dps-blizzed the baron, while the druid and I concentrated on keeping the warrior up. Everytime the skeletons would come, I would round them up (easy with my healing aggro) and then Consecrate. They died in about 3 seconds.

FYI, for the Rammstein fight, you'll have 300 f*ckzillion skeletons rush you shortly after Ramm dies. Put up Concentration Aura, Consecrate, Holy Wrath, self heal, and another Consecrate will finish them all off. Again mage is not needed, although it will makes it quicker. The Skeleton guards after this are quite tough, since they hit very hard. I kept one feared, had the hunter pets off-tank and trap and just healed through the damage. Burned most of my cooldowns and mana on that fight though.

I've seen the mount, someone in my guild on Cenarion Circle has it... also, I have only done one 45-min Baron attempt. It was with a mage, me(warlock), Warrior(dps warrior), Shaman(main healer) and I think a rogue.. lol I can't remember who the last was.

We pulled nonstop, I think wiped once, each of us died on seprate occasions, we did not loot anything except bosses and I was the designated d/e'er so I greeded everything while everyone else passed. We skipped Magistrate Barthilas when we got to him and ran right into Patchwork area.

After pulling and pulling we finally beat Ramstein and the guards, and engaged the Baron w/ 40 seconds left. We even almost lost our warrior during the fight because we were afraid we didn't have the time to prep, I think he engaged at like 60%hp or something, I had the warrior SoulStoned in case he dropped but we our healer came through and filled him up XD

I don't really much like 45min runs, and I can't say enough how glad I am to have succeeded on it on my first .. and maybe last, attempt. ^_^

Did him with 4 players because our rogue had to leave before

1 Priest (twink of a rogue only blue equip)
1 Mage (played by the druid)

got him down easily but took some time because mage had to do aoe and was only dmg dealer on rivendare (luck he had +300dmg equip)

Hit 60 3 days ago and pulled together some guildies for a Baron run, my first. 7 lvl 60's(2 pally, mage, rogue,lock, and warrior{me}) 55 Druid, 55 Priest, 55 mage.

Well, being the only warrior, I got nominated to tank. I rushed him, whacked him a few times and bolted for the corner..I tuned around and he was still sitting there chucking shadowbolts at me. I ran back to him and smacked him with my shield and tried dragging him back. Eventually he came but I died. A pally took over and the druid rezed me mid battle, just as both pallies die. I got aggro and switched to battle stance, bloodrage and 2 executes. Both healers were lvl 55 and out of mana by then...shoulda hit a pot, but I died then but the rogue finished him and a mage cleaned the skellys.

Dropped the shadowcraft pants for the rogue and the +17 intel ring for the priest. Kinda glad he saved the valor legs for another day because I picked up Peacemaker and the Crest of Retribution on the way in.

Wondering how to get aggro and then get him to FOLLOW you into the corner. I suppose a priest could silence him, but that would draw aggro. No way to duck line of sight that I could see. People who had done it before said you just have to wait on him, he comes eventually.

Yes, it was a CHALLENGE for me and I pumped my fist in the air when he went down. If he's easy for you and it makes you feel good to tell everyone how "uber-leet" you are, go for it.

K well we downed a 45 min baron this previous Saterday with 3 pugs and 2 being of my guild =including myself. We had 2 pally's (one Holy speced and one Prot speced)we had hunter range speced,a mage Ice speced and a holy priest. We did a constant pull and inbetween pulls we took turns drinking mana. We looted all bosses and most of the mobs. We had pretty basic gear on all had the .5 gear and most of us had a few more tier 0 set none had thier tier 1. I as the priest was the only one that died(twice but the Pally quickly rezzed)Skipped the guy with the key. And killed the baron with 45 secs to spare when we walked through a portal back to IF. A good trick to remeber is get a holy priest who knows Lightwell the priest can drop it at anytime for a really low mana cost quickly every 10 mins. Make sure to have someone other than the priest who can rez(or warlock for SS). And DO NOT WIPE at all costs DO NOT WIPE. There is really no need for too many potions if the DPS is up. dont waste time talking unless it is absolutly neccsary(we didnt talk on vent it takes more time and you confuse other players)And basically never stop pulling assign someone to the postion to pulling. K well thats pretty muc ha basic run down and good luck to those who are ready for the .5 upgrade : )

Me a 70 frost mage and a 70 fire mage friend and a random healer have run it many many times now and the mount has not dropped thats what happens with such a low drop rate .. At least its not like the ZG tiger boss mount 1 per server ewwwww

I have been twice on 10ppl raid on this guy, I am lvl 58 atm, rest were all 60s and we killed him way too easily... He sure makes alot of damage, but he was dead in under 1 min.

hes sooo easy to kill...as long as u have a mage killing the skeletal summons, and the priests far away from him healing mad...then hes easy. tanks gotta pull him to one side of the room and priests should give some shadow resistance buff

On a recent Strat run, my Hunter friend got the Cape and Pants off the baron, and also Will of the Martyr. Meanwhile, me, also a Hunter, has done countless Scholo runs and have yet to see the Beaststalker Cap drop, while the same friend got it on his first or second run.

The only reason a 10-man group will wipe on him is if the tank doesn't pull him far enough away and his aura interrupts the casters. I've had this happen once, and ever since I've made a big deal of getting him away, and have yet to have it happen again.

Since the 1.10 patch, Allakhazam wiped the Baron's loot table, as it was changed by Blizzard.

The Baron now has 2 loot tables, one normal, and an improved one if you kill him within 45 minutes of opening the second gate. I think this mount will now be on this improved table.

Until patch 1.11, only those with the 0.5 tier armour quests have access to this improved table, this has been pointed out as a bug. 1.11 will see everyone who kills him within 45 minutes getting access to the better loot.

So for now, only those on the quest can get this mount, this will change in 1.11.

we did this with 5 man no medalion and no shadow potions we didnt even have a single death. I wouldnt recommend dampen magic as i hampers healing more then his dmg.

Both the items i needed dropped off him *the beaststalker's leggings and the cape* but i was accused of ninja looting earlier in the run when i didnt and got removed from the group...So now im gana have to do another 20 runs before it drops again...

Since its gonna be 5 man only this one is getting tough.

I would recommend the Warrior charging, possibly from the other side of the room, to keep the Priest out of range of the AoE.

Recommend you use some Holy water on the adds (one water should nail a spawn)
A substantial part of his damage is Shadow rather than physical so i would strongly recommend you get your Shadow Res gear on, did him 5 man last night with 140 Shadow res (all fairly easy to get blue gear and a Priest buff) took 7000, resisted 10,000, definately the difference between life and death bearing in mind how low my hps went before our Priest could fade the skellies and nail a greater heal.

With a 10 man raid you just need somone AoEing the skellies and make sure you are in no hurry, let the warrior get and maintain solid agro and you should be fine. I like getting a lock to do the AoE as they are the ones most likey to get agro in my gruild :P

Hit lvl 56 last night, and did a Baron run to try for Devout Skirt, and got it first try. Makes up for Solakar not dropping the Mantle in UBRS.

Did this in a PUG a little while back. Our group consisted of:

Warrior
Paladin
Priest
Mage
Rogue

Paladin (myself) tanked for the majority of the fights and pulled with exorcism and holy light consistantly. Warrior used 2h for the majority of the fighting and put on his DPS gear. Mage and Priest took mana breaks as needed, we continously pulled so long as we had over half health. I healed if the priest ran out of mana and tried to only use damage spells to hold aggro and keep mana left over to heal if neccessary. We had a sharder who would steal the loot from the bosses and shard it at the end. We didn't bother looting the small stuff. We ended up wiping twice from bad luck with fears. We skipped the Magistrate boss.

We made it to the baron with 5 minutes to spare and killed him with 2 minutes to spare. The Tank switched his gear, and we took him down in the usual way. (Priest healed, Mage = AoE, the rest are DPS on Baron) It wasn't too bad at all. As long as your group each knows their roles it should be okay. There is also a SS trick you can use by killing Maleki and then running to the event and making sure that the priest, the lock and one other make it. It works best if you have a Pally and a Tank taunting with righteous fury and taunts and the others making it alive to the event. The priest is SS'ed, and resed the 2 others that made it and then the lock summons the Pally and Tank who died to the event from the enterance. Cuts about 5-10 minutes off your time.

He wiped us once because i couldn't keep our tank alive.. lvl 57 warrior. Flash Heal spamming wasn't enough..

Next day I tried again (new grp) and we ONLY healed the tank. (druid and me, priest). Everyone was down to 30-40% when rivendare died. He nearly killed the Tank, he had like 500 life left. I wonder how this is possible in 5man groups. Probably better Equipment.

Downed him with 4-man group this evening (druid DCed just after Ramstein). Had Priest, Hunter, 'Lock and Warrior (all 60).
We had 3 ppl with Holy Water to take out the adds in rotation. Not as difficult as I'd thought it would be - we even coped with one wave of skellies healing him for a few thousand. He even dropped the BS pants when the hunter was the only one that needed her tier 0 legs

Another run that took 2wic as long as it should have, 4 members of party leaving midway thru, 4 baron attempts and tension as wait for loot, his ^&*!e cloak and shadowcraft legs which went to a hunter. Will LF legs ever drop for me!

LOL Watched this guy CLEAN HOUSE on an alliance raid of about 10-15 level 60s. Killed them all in about 5 minutes or less. That was awesome :)
Not for them, but I'm Horde, so for me it was. Glad Blizzard mades DeathKnights as awesome and deadly as they are portrayed and suppose to be.
He has deadly AoEs and summons a few skeleton minions, so when fighting him, watch for that.

He's easy.
I went along with guild once, we had finished the instance in less then an hour. Baron was killed quickly, my dreadmist dropped. Glory moment. We repeat this a few times for people from our guild, even with tag alongs from IF. I got an invite from someone to come along, and so we're off, the druid sucks at healing, a friend of mine, also druid, has to heal alot. When we're with the baron, she dies, the other druid who sucks at healing dies. I start tanking the baron. I die. The warrior cant hold aggro. After that, the pally dies. Etc etc. Main tank warrior dies last.

Luckily, me with my timing has put up a soulstone before we went to kill him. We try again, the same thing. This was insane. We stopped after that me and the other two from my guild, saying that he's easy, but not with group...

Then we sat in a random corner in IF and cried cause we didnt kill him this time.

I've only done Strat post-patch 1.10 due to constant server switches, so I've never 10manned him.

I've downed him only twice, mainly because the PUGs I get on my server are pretty stupid, and because I do live Strat more (and now that I have my gloves, there's no need to return). Both downs of this guy dropped Valor leggings.

I see a long, long hunt for my Devout skirt waiting for me.

There is NO way you can solo this boss.... NO way I am in a guild that has downd bosses in NAXX and cleard AQ40 and we run this instace for Rep and to get alts gear, and with a group of 4 in epic gear, it is a fun fight, I have been on many many barron runs and some with folks in crap blues and greens and not been able to beat him.... so even if you are t-3 wich i am sure you are not you can not solo him unless you have a video to prove other wise....... SHUT up YOU DID NOT SOLO THIS BOSS!

Killed him in 5 man group (guild run), not hard but not very easy. (no mediallion)

Paladin
Mage
Hunter
Priest
All 60

Aslong as the mage takes care of the skeletons and you got a holy specced priest and the tank can hold his attention you should be fine. I died right before Baron went down tho (warrior). The weird thing is that the skeletons spawned more often then when in a raid group, or might just seems like it.

just remember he can charge @ you, he also has a nasty cocktail of various attacks. Did it as a 10 (or 15 dont remember) and he was a easy meat target to kill.

Me (lvl 70 Pali) and 68 mage 2 manned strat and took down the baron, used 1 potion during the fight. Didn't drop the mount :( guess we'll keep trying.

FYI: 68 Frost Mage, 70 Prot/holy paladin

In 5-man group u just need the backup tank who takes over when primary tank has less than 30% of health. Since hes undead palas are just as good as warrs for this task... besides consecration is as good as mages aoe for these skelie adds (holy wrath is unusable here since it takes too long to cast)

Got Lightforge Legplates last night on Khaz'Gorath with the best PUG ever! I tanked Baron, Mage did AOE for skellies, Priest healed, Hunter did ranged attack and Rogue DPS'ed.

1 x Paly (Me)
1 x Hunter
1 x Mage
1 x Priest
1 x Rogue

Out of all the bosses from the 5 man dungeons I think this one is hardest, but also the most enjoyable.

Tried doing this fight with the following:
-59 rogue (average leveling gear)
-60 rogue (had most bis for rogues)
-59 holy paladin (good gear)
-60 fury warrior (tank, great gear with shadow resist)
-60 warlock (good gear with a few raid pieces)

....and it was disastrous it took us 8 tries and the farthest we got was 20% hp. At one stage we attempted to get the baron's unholy aura (27y) and the pally's shadow resist (30y) at a perfect spot but that had little effect. The biggest issue we had was the adds running to the tank and then running all the way to the heals. The tank tried applying 5 stacks of sunder while the rogue popped all his CDs (40% total party damage) but it didn't help because the baron would just consume one or two of the remaining skeletons and get his health right back up. We tried leaving the 59 rogue with the healer and the warlock but he couldn't get the skeletons down fast enough. All and all, lesson learned next time we'll make sure to bring at least 2 ranged dps (or at least get some better geared players).

This boss awards 50 rep (+ 150 rep) when prisoner walks out from cage (in SOD)
This alone equal 8 bosses in Scholomance in terms of reputation.
