Idk what the issue people have with the essence grind is and also why Blizz is nerfing it. 100k honor for rank 4 is a drop in the bucket on the grind to honor level 500. Roughly 11 honor levels. This barely impacts the essence grind but severely impacts the grind to honor level 500. Thanks for making honor level farming even less fun than it already is Blizz...
It’s not 50% longer grind without the bonus, it’s 33% longer. You are now only getting 2/3 of the honor than you would with enlistment (100% instead of 150% of the honor awarded). Dang nerds and their maths.
I really wonder what this change is supposed to accomplish:- Nobody will change faction to alliance just for a 50% honor buff that only is active in random bg's.- No alliance players will now magically queue more because they now get a sick 50% buff for a useless "currency" the horde doesnt get.- This will only hurt queue times for the majority of the players (which are horde) who still play random bg's.- There seem to be no catch up mechanics regarding essences in 8.2.5, so why nerf the already most annoying grind to obtain some of these?- Instead of playing more, by getting the 50% buff and grind out an essence, players will now most likely dont bother.Maybe its part of a bigger change (which we will see later, maybe with 8.3 or 9.0), but however we look at it, its a nerf of enjoyment with basically no upside.Or maybe Blizzard didnt like the fact that you could grind out Rank 3 in a week with the weekly BG event and the mercenary buff, while most epic essences are time gated to take around 3 weeks.
What about on Oceanic servers where Alliance outnumber Horde 20 to 1. Yet because of the imbalance on the US servers where Horde outnumber Alliance. The Oceanic Alliance players still get the Warmode 20+ % bonus and also the enlistment bonus. While the Oceanic Horde get no enlistment bonus and also only get the base 10% Warmode bonus en-spite of them being incredibly outnumbered. Bonuses need to be region specific. Its pretty silly that the Faction that is outnumbered on Oceanic servers gets no help whatsoever while the one that is 90% dominant gets many bonuses and incentives because of what it is like on US servers. So having that enlistment bonus as a Oceanic Horde to Alliance Mercenary is very much needed. Making it very difficult now to get any sort of honor in larger amounts as a Horde player on Oceanic servers. They need less of blanket changes of this type, to region specific ones.
I think it's a great start and I hope it means Blizz are looking at pvp for the future. I'm definitely interested in the idea of factionless battlegrounds down the line, but I think this might help alliance in the short term.
That'll teach those dirty so and sos for playing the characters they want to play, instead of the characters Blizzard wants them to play ! Next up, 1/4 xp for anyone playing melee dps.
Tbh why is there a honor increase in BGs in the first place? The BG doesn't get made untill there are enough ppl aka population doesn't matter there.And since mercenary mode doesn't matter now doesn't that just add less ppl queing as an Alliance making it even less populated?
