This quest is marked as a raid; however, it can easily be soloed if you desire and don't have the time to do it with a group of friends. Bolvar does all of the fighting, so just stand back away from him and the dragons. Take some bandages, a healthstone, or health potion just in case one of the dragons hits you. If you have a ranged attack you may use it to "tag" the kills and gain XP if you're not already 60.

As a side note: Windsor is not attacked as you escort him to SW Keep.

Its a long chain of quest you need to Start with "Cragonkin Menence" and after that you need a random "This item begins a quest"-item.

Alright if your an idiot like me, you've done something to fail the quest, I'm special and actually failed it twice so far. (somewhat intentionally; if anyone's a skinner soloing this, you know why)

I havn't been able to time to the respawn on Windsor yet, does anyone know? I had someone else get the the quest for the first time, and it spawned Windsor, that's how I was able to fail for the second time.

I'm parked outside SW, waiting for that slowpoke to respawn, I'll post any info if I get him to pop up.

Okay, I failed because she was already dead when I turned up to fight her with the guy.

I abondoned the failed quest, and went back to entrance. We broke the raid group, and re-invited. And he rode up again (although it took him about 10 minutes).

You have to walk him all the way through Stormwind again (gutter). But you can repeat the quest if you DC'ed during the fight or picked a bad time to start it.

I failed the quest due to getting too close. However, I abandoned the quest, waited by the Stormwind City gates, and sure enough Windsor respawned. YMMV

I walked with him to the keep and they started talking. Then lady prestor dissappeared i waited and nothing then she respawned as lady prestor and i had failed! Could it have something to do with someone turning in Ony head as i was trying to do it? Not sure but either way it sucked.

Edit: what if i was in stealth when they were talking? does it matter?

i am so confused, i escorted marshal windsor to stormwind keep then lady prestor transformed to lady onyxia, but no ones fighting.... =( do i need anything at all for quest to work? pls help me

Just, don't do it. It is hard now, but wait. It big bug so we can't do anything about it. Just , leave bug to the GM's, they're going to working with it, so, that's enough. Do something else for couple of days, go farm gold for epic mount or go and play AV till exhalted. The quest ain't working now, that's for sure.

So I went to SW and found Windsor, we walked through the town, up to the keep. Saw some people, said hi, everything was good. We get there, he starts taunting ony, she goes all dragon form on him, then- Nothing. They sit stil for ten minutes and then I fail the quest. AS of now there is no way to do this.

Although I have not done this quest yet. I am seeing many people having difficulty due to this bug. If you watch the post date of the messages here, it is obivious that the quest hasnt been fixed and has not for some time.

I suggest everyone should wait a week. It takes time to fix bugs. With 1.11, Blizz will be concentrating on the many bugs that came with it, so they obviously will fix these bugs first before paying attention to the old ones.

Some of you probably cannot go to Ony yet, may it be your Guild is not ready or you dont got enough fire res. Then again... you might be ready, like some are and cant go. :(

Dont despair! Try next week, and if that dont work... RIOT! Or...Just try the week after.

It will be fixed eventually guys.

After doing this quest atleast 30 times during the week, i decided to wait till after the patch on tuesday, as soon as my realm came on i did this quest thinking the whole time it wouldnt work , to my surprise it worked :) i was hoping it was fixed for everyone but it looks like it isnt :(

Since yesterday, I've waited over two hours for Windsor to show. That with the bug in the Keep, after Lady K's transformation, where nothing happens is getting a little frustrating. I've written to GM (Quel'Thalas realm) each time with the reply that simply states that they are investigating the problem. As I write, I'm standing at SW entrance, waiting ever so patiently for Windsor... I don't think he's going to come riding in on his steed.

The Quest got stuck on the first attempt to do it... but suspect that it was because one of our groupmates did not turn in the quest before.

So we had to return, and restart. Marhal appeared without problem, but one in the group was to far so we had to abandon and restart again.

Marhall again appeared after a minute or so, and we started the quest. Followed through, revealed onyxia, did the fight, and then completed the quest.

Okay,
I followed a friend of mine who was doing the quest into the Keep. Everything worked fine for him. I whatched every bit of it. Then I did the quest, escorted Windsor, and after Prestor turned into Onyxia, the event froze. Suddenly, after about 20 minutes, I logged off. When I relogged the next day, everything was back to normal, but I was able to talk to Bolvar about the quest, and I couldn't hit the "complete quest" button. I abandoned the quest, and waited at the gates of Stormwind for Windsor. After 10 minutes, nothing, so I flew to the Burning Steppes. Nothing. What do I have to do now?

This has to be my most favourite Quest :) nothing beats walking down the streets of SW looking like a hero.

It might help to use guild or SW City chat to find out what state the Keep is in BEFORE accepting this quest. Make sure Lady Prestor is there (and human), the Highlord is at her side (and not in Attack Stance), and the boy-king is there with his usual blank stare.

When you go to find Marshal Windsor, also make sure the General is there on horseback, and there are NO kneeling guards to be seen.

Not sure whether it makes any difference, but you might also want to ensure that ALL members of the group are actually on the quest.

I'm guessing that if this is the case, you should be able to complete the quest without a hitch.

BACKGROUND
After having Ony freeze as a dragon (and her guards freeze as SW guards) on our first attempt, we all abandonned this quest and met Marshal again. Half of us finished a few days ago on our second attempt. I just watched the other half FAIL the first time, but complete it on their THIRD try. Here's what happened for these last two runs:

We walked all the way through the city and arrived in the Keep, only to find that Lady Prestor was GONE, as were her guards, and the Highlord was standing around in his Battle Stance. Marshal had nobody to talk with... no dragon to conjure... and nothing changed for several minutes... so they were forced to abandon yet-again, and walk through town for their third time.

But this time I stayed in the Keep (I had completed the quest, so I was not in the group), and used guild chat to let the others know when Lady Prestor re-spawned and the entire Keep had reset to normal. They made sure to wait until I gave the Say So before accepting the quest. And it worked!

My theory is that this bug has something to do with others being on the quest at "almost" the same time.

In the failed attempt I described above, someone had obviously just failed this quest, leaving the Keep in a very weird "half-spawned" state.

And in retrospect, I do remember seeing the guards kneeling at the city entrance a few minutes prior to our very first failed attempt; that time we waited until the General showed back up on horseback before running to get Marshal (and the quest), but maybe that wasn't long enough..? Maybe there was still another group in the Keep at that time..?

Can anyone out there please test my theory and provide some results here? It'd sure be nice to have a workaround for this one!

This quest starts at Morgin's Vigil in The Burning Stepps as a quest were you must kill a bunch of dragons. After this comes multiple messenger quests with Morgans Vigli, Lakeshire, and Stormwind. After these you will be asked to find Ragged John. He can be found at the Horde FP in The Burning Stepps(dont worry the flight master doesnt attack). You must then do his quest and then you will get a quest for Black Rock Depths where you must find Marshal Windsor. Once you find him you will recieve the Jail Break Quest, and once you complete it, you will get this quest. I hope this clears up how to get this quest Good Luck to those who try this quest, it certainly is very long.

I did not have to wait on Windsor at all. I failed the quest (don't stand too close to the fight b/c the dragon kin cleave, that is what killed me) and all i had to do was abandon the quest and talk to Squire Rowe at the gate intrance into Stormwind. He will signal Windsor and I waited maybe 30 seconds and he came riding up on his horse.

Quest is probably bugged, or at least I think so. If you die during the Bolvar fight, you instantly fail the quest. So it is either bugged or is one of the lamest quests out there. In other words, 'amassing an army' doesnt mean crap because you can't possibly not expect to die, someone to die, while fighting the beasts that spawn and hit for 1k. So yeah, Bolvar is supposed to solo them all.

this part of the quest is listed as a raid, but it is very soloable. the trick is, as noted in the quest guide from filterspawn , is to actually NOT do anything.
As a paladin, all i did to 'assist' was to buff Fordragon with Blessing of Kings. then I just stood down in the hall a little ways (out of agrro range) and watched. Fordragon can tank all of them on his own (for me, he got to 49% health) . the tricky part is asking and getting the lookie-loo's to listen to your request to stay back.
once he was down to one guard and that guard was at low health i told then told them to go ahead and "help" kill the dragonkin

Tried this after 1.9 patch and I follow Windsor all the way to the keep, intitiate chat and then follow him up to Lady Prestor. Then he just sits there. nothin happens at all. Left there after a 10 minute wait, failed quest, abandoned quest. Waited 30+ minutes outside SW and he's not respawning. Check Morgan's Vigil and no new quest there either.

Tried quest 3 or 4 times on the 23 rd July/o6. Didn't seem to work...Windsor's respawn seemed out of synch with the key Npc's in Stormwind Keep. I would arrive at the Keep with Windsor and noticed that the Dragon Lady was there while Bolvar was not there. It also happened the other way around for some odd reason. If you see this happening, the quest will not activate to the final grand battle I found. One of the 4 times it failed she actually spawned into the dragon, but that was it.......the quest stalled there, Windsor disappered, FAILED. This happened when there was alot of activity in SW and there were people in the Keep being a nuisance.laughing at me.....saying I'm wasting my time etc etc. So i waited till there were very few people on (1:30 am PAC time) and had a Guildie go to the keep and gave me a thumbs up on the status on all the NPC's. Got to the KEEP, let it all play through without doing a damn thing. Just activate and let it all play out and Voila.....Quest Completed!

if you fail this quest you dont have to abandon, but if you do abandon that's ok too, you dont have to go anywhere to restart the quest. just wait for the npc's in the keep to respawn into position. then go wait where you first saw windsor come up and you'll see him eventually ride up and you can begin the quest again.

while escorting windsor there were lots of messages in local and world defense sayin SW is under attack. the horde were raidin SW. we reached the keep without seein the horde raid and continued on with the quest. towards the end of the fight bolvar was on 72% life when the horde reached us. they killed bolvar and ran/died. they left 2 elites left and it was me (59 hunter) and my 60 druid friend. since all the guards were dead from the horde i ended up kitin (with heals) until our guild ended an AB and all came at the battlemaster in SW. i instantly got heals from 3 priests and 3 druids at the same time and we pwned the elites. i was so happy that my guild came to help. i then went to the deeprun tram and found the horde raid. i alerted my guild (who had ported to IF (the lazy bastards)) and we were standin in the rooms near the gnome king. the horde got ready and charged the gnome king and we instantly came at them. the battle went for a surprisingly long time but we won and got honor. lowbies joined in and the horde mages AoEd to kill them. the horde then resed again in that room and half of us had left. luckily by then all of IF knew and some of the ppl at the battle masters came and we slaughtered the horde again and again. was quite embarassing for the horde since they had nef on farm status for 6 months and we had downed rag for the first time the day b4. it was a fun day

I just soloed this as a hunter. Just sit back and shoot, Bolvar holds ALL of the aggro. Just dont get close the do an AOE melee attack, i saw a bunch of lowbies go up and die.

I haven't done this quest at all. But I saw it happening in the keep. I was level 27 or something like that. When the dragons spawned I started shooting at them standing in the corridor. When dragons started dying 2 orange of them gave me 480 xp each.. the red one got me 780 xp... and that's without a single hit (which would probably kill me anyway)... so here's advice: take a ranged weapon (i used a gun, 'cause I'm a warrior), sit there and wait for the show, participating in it from a distance... is it a bug?

If raid groups of level 60s get all schooled by bolvar I doubt anything in a quest will kill him.

This quest is a "moment". It's one of the greatest experiences in the game. I loved watching it as a lowbie. I loved dying, and I longed for the day when it would be my turn.
The walk is so atmospheric, the guards are whispering about what a great honour this is. NPCs are awestruck. This is why you rolled Alliance. >YOU< are now involved in the affairs of Kings, Kingdoms and Dragons.

We make a guild event of this quest: Everyone is invited, Lowbies too. Everyone turns up in their finest dress gear: Not the best armour, but the stuff that looks coolest. Epic mounts: Novelty Pets: Evil Looking Weapons and Armour. Wear it all for the show.

Picking up other players just for the feeling of the march, and that *SOMETHING SPECIAL* is about to happen. The groups of lowbies who come along just to see it. This is a moment to treasure.

No, you don't have to join in the fight. But you *HAVE TO*. It's what is right.

Incidentally Windsors speech has changed over the months. He now refers to the events and judgements in Karazhan. Is this a clue to new content, or just a simple dialogue chance to make the plot bigger?

I was in talking to the king regarding another quest, then they come in with him, and bang there was Onyxia guards all over, and i was only lvl 35 died in one stroke :-)

So dont be there as low lvl if he comes in :-D

If you die and need to restart the quest, go to the gate of Stormwind. Talk to the Squire standing off to the side and tell him you're ready for Windsor. Immediately talk to Windsor once he gets off his horse and he slaps it away. Go through the walk to the Keep. DO NOT ATTACK THE DRAGONKIN. They won't attack you at all if you don't attack them. Once they all die, talk to Bolivar quickly and take the next chain of the quest which leads you to The Dragon's Eye.

No problem with this quest solo. Just stand back like everyone says. I just targeted Winsor's target and helped with range DPS. Got aggro once, feigned... no problem at all except for the poor Palli that tried to help (warned him in advance) one milisec and he was dead.

This quest is pretty damn easy for something that claims it requires an army. At most, all you would need is a healer (just in case Bolvar gets too low on hp) if you arn't one yourself. Just stay out of range of the dragonkins' AoEs, and let Bolvar do all the work. If you have ranged attacks, help him out, but otherwise just stay the hell away.

I didn't do a thing, I sat back and watch Bolvar kill all the dragons. At the end of it, he was only at half health =P Although, I did get a bit close, and as a mage, I died really fast, because they all attack wtih sweeping strikes, lol. Luckily a nice lvl 10 priest ressed me. Soloable. . .just watch =)

...and oh yeah... forgot. You have to stand behing two horizontal lines on the floor in the corridor. My mate stood up closer - died in a blink of an eye.
We did it for the second time - he was more cautious . We both got XP :)

i have done all the escort into stormwind, and arrive at the keep the lady wasn't here, so now im trying to speak to the marshall at the gate of stormwind and nothing happen. so do i have to abandonned the quest and try to talk to him again in BRD or what ? plz i need ur help

You are supposed to takle a raid group with you, say about 10 people, a proper well organised group,

2 warriors
2 palys
2 preists/druids
2 rogues
2 mages

One of each in either of the 2 groups in raid formation and take the dragons down one by one. You will beat this quest :)

before it was bugged, It was not meant to be able to be solo'd

I say it is still bugged but in a different way, the boss balivor doesn't spawn when he should and when he does it takes too long.

The quest attribute says "raid". U can solo it.
- speak with squire
- escort marshal to the destination
- watch the show from distance

You dont need to do anything. Bolvar will do all the work for u. Just grab the golden "?" when the slaughter is done.

I accidentally managed to accelerate this quest by a bit. Here's how:

- Start the quest, walk with Windsor through Stormwind
- In front of the keep, talk to him again
- Inside the keep, wait for the RP to finish and the guards to turn dragon
----- Intention: Wait for the dragons to be killed and do nothing (this is how you solo it)
- Accidentally get cleaved, want to leave combat
- Run away down the entrance hall to exit combat
- Exit combat. Quest failed. Dragons still fighting. Abandon quest. 1 or 2 of them dead. Be angry, run to Stormwind entrance
- Speak to Squire Rowe again
- Restart Quest with Windsor.
- Instant QUEST SUCCESS

I think what happened is, that the restart triggered the dragons to despawn, which in turn triggered Bolvar Fordragon to win the fight, triggering the success. Upon return to the keep to turn in the quest with Bolvar, there were only 3 dead dragons.

Absolute garbage quest. It bugs nearly every single time. The only option is to camp the royal room and make sure every npc is perfect and where they should be.

Bugged for me and others in Classic.

The escort part of the quest worked as intended, but after the true nature of Lady Katrana Prestor was revealed and the guards was transformed into dragons, the quest simply failed.
It was just after I had been slain by the dragons, that I noticed Highlord Bolvar Fordragon wasn't present. It seems Bolvar is the one supposed to kill the dragons, and then afterwards offer you the next quest in the line.

The second time we tried, the dragons wouldn't even spawn, and Reginald Windsor just stood there infront of Prestor's dragonform.

It's still a little buggy. I had to run it twice (just pick up at Squire Rowe again) to get Highlord Bolvar Fordragon to give me the followup quest. Both times ended the same way so I'm not sure what I might have done differently. Also, Squire Rowe doesn't appear with a quest symbol above him. I had to /tar him.

Can confirm this quest is still bugged in classic era in 10/2023. I did it 4 times and he bugged out on the bridge and the keep. If you can have a mole in the keep, make sure Bolvar is there before you start the quest. The Lady Prestor sometimes isn't there in the keep but she will most likely come back while you are escorting.

You CAN do this in a group! I did it in a grp of 5 and we got credit. However, you can also be in a group and it can bug out (one person in my grp got credit while myself and another person didn't - and one that didn't was the one that started it; Bolvar said his name when he was walking).

Since it is possible to get credit in a group you may as well group since multiple people can get credit at the same time.

Still bugged in SoD - general Advice for everybody, the problem is the following:

The Castlehall is still in an ongoing version, but people (you) started a new event infront of sw. This will result in Bolvar being in a battle-like stance when you arrive and the RP-Sequence bugs out.
This is extremly frustrating since the only fix is to work together, dont accept a new quest (and start an event this way) immediatly after its available. You need a "Spion" in the castle and wait for him to report that the Castlehall is completly done with the event (no dragons, bolvar not in battle-stance, onyxia in human form etc.)

Usually this takes about 3-5 more mins after a new event can actually be started. I dont know why blizzard does not delay the first NPC who calls maxwell like 5 more min or smth to fix this, but its bugged since 20 years like that and I also tell ppl to use this work around since 20 years, always worked on first try.

Also I can 100% tell you that this Quest is a Raid Quest and works solo, in group and in raid. Sometimes the "auto share on quest pick up" mechanic is bugged due to addons of people accepting it.

GL - Sidenote, I couldnt do it myself in SOD, ppl just random accept the quest instantly.

Sooooo, most people seem to fail this quest in the castle hall.
I can't even GET ACROSS THE BRIDGE infront of SW. I accept the quest and between 1-20 seconds later it just instantly fails.
Every NPC is present, no one is in battle-stance, it SHOULD work but just doesn't at all.
Guess I won't be raiding with my guild tonight....
