Several guilds have now completed their Scarab Lord reputation grinds, waiting only to clear Blackwing Lair a second time this coming reset before they ring the gong, start the 10 hour war, and earn their

. As part of the
lengthy 23-step process
required to obtain the Scepter of Shifting Sand, this particular grind starts with the quest

, requiring 200

collected from Silithid across the outdoor zone, with Hive Regal being regarded as the best general place to hunt for them. The quest isn't a one time turn in though, as the real reason for collecting the fragments is for reputation, with each set of 200 awarding 200 reputation with the
Linaje de Nozdormu
. Players seeking the Scepter will need to turn in the quest 208 times to go from Hated to Neutral, requiring an astounding
41,600 fragments
... unless you're lucky enough to have the Human reputation bonus!
Maitoz of <APES> on Gehennas (EU-PvP) streamed the challenge, finishing the expected week long grind in a mere 23 hours, with many other guilds also having completed their own progress.
These grinds are known for being incredibly time consuming, though the actual difficulty can vary depending on participation and how much PvP or griefing is involved. Because the fragments are tradeable however, the effort doesn't need to be made alone, and coordinated groups can work together to accumulate them. <APES> was assisted by <SALAD BAKERS>, another large Alliance guild on their server, and large layered servers have a distinct advantage, as they're able to farm multiple layers and combine their efforts into one pool of fragments.
With the most arduous of the tasks required to become a Scarab Lord now complete, there's only one item left standing in the way - killing Nefarian in Blackwing Lair
within 5 hours
was once considered a major challenge, although now it's a largely trivial one. These guilds are only left waiting for the weekly reset. That said, plenty of other servers are still working hard to finish the war effort and get through the quest chain though.
