Another decent place to farm Rich Thorium Veins is Un'Goro. The insectoid nests underground host a decent amount of ooze-covered veins (still the same thing), and fire plume ridge (area with fire elementals) has a decent number of veins as well. Not to mention that the fire elementals are also good to farm for essences and a possible rare spawn!

Any class, if you're careful, can mine the thorium nodes in southern winterspring. There are 2 nodes down there at any given time, with a 5 minute respawn in a different section after you mine one. Simply wait until the tunnels are clear, then go through, mount up, and run along the edges to deaggro.
It is, however, easiest for a rogue; you can mine them much more efficiently. I can usually get about 10-15 nodes an hour, plus some small thorium. If there is competition, a circular route between the northern nodes up to gadgetzan is also productive, although only a stealth class can safely reach the back of mazthoril.

Actually you can separate into 6 area and the Rich Thorium Vein will respawn every 15 mins in each area, one area one piece. The area are The fungal vein, The infactis scar, Pestilent scar, The noxious glade, Northdale and Zul'Marshar. Just follow the this route and you can get your Rich Thorium Vein continousely. Just forget about Scarlet Basilica,'cause it's too dangerous for you.

The screen shot for the Rich Thorium Vein is incorrect. Rich Thorium Veins are larger and are green. They have large crystals growing out from them. I have uploaded an updated picture.

What level of mining do you require to mine these?
I have 250 skill and can mine small thorium veins but not these

Kommentar von cyborg99

I can usually get 7-9 Rich Veins in one circle of Winterspring, along with a few Small ones that I see on the way from node to node.
I start in Everlook, then I...
1) Head to Ruins of Kel'Theril and get the Rich Vein there(there's always one there, unless it's been mined recently).
2) I head to Mazthoril and pick up the one Rich and one Small in the cave and I port out using the rune at the end.
3) Then I head to Frostwhisper Gorge and get the one Rich Vein there.
4) I then head to Darkwhisper Gorge and get the 2 or 3(sometimes I get 2, sometimes 3) veins there and sometimes a Small vein. Just head clockwise through each little valley, making a detour for the very southern one.
5) I head up towards Owl Wing Thicket and get the Rich Vein there, sometimes it's in a cave, so pay attention to the map because it'll be slightly harder to see because of the terrain on the map + darker color.
6) Up to Winterfall Village and get the Rich Vein there.
7) Northwest up to Frostsaber Rock and grab the Vein there.

Also, when I'm able to do the https://www.wowhead.com/classic/quest=5201 quest, I'll do that quest while I'm at Winterfall and turn it in while I'm at Frostsaber.
Good luck with your Thorium mining!

Ever since the BC Exp. the nodes for all ores have had expanded spawn times. It also appears that the spawn locations are cyclical in an area. Example: Noxious Glade there are 5 nodes in the glade itself, b ut only 1 will be active at any time, whereas you could normally ride by 3 nodes with ore before BC was released.

Anyone know the skill required to mine this vein?

Kommentar von Allakhazam

I am trying to fix the drop rate little by little, one node at a time, run WoW reader while you play kids, it makes stats more accurate

Kommentar von Allakhazam

Interesting that Arcane crystals have a 3% drop while the others are less than 1... All I have been getting lately is blue sapphires, az diamonds, huge emeralds, and opals.... And off the small ones no less...

I haven't seen an arcane crystal in probably 50 straight veins now, but I have 5 or 6 of every other crystal in that time.

Kommentar von Allakhazam

you do realize arcane crystals dont drop off of the small veins, right?...only the rich veins.

Kommentar von Allakhazam

The first time ever mining on of these I got two arcane crystals in the same vein.

Kommentar von Allakhazam

zesty clam meat found in a rich thorium vein... wha?... *raises an eyebrow

Kommentar von Allakhazam

They need to run this database through a script and delete out these junk drops...

If the item dropped once in 439,000... you know it's not supposed to be there. Especially if it's retarded like Morrowgrain or clam meat of all things :)

Kommentar von Allakhazam

maybe the area was once underwater and a clam got stuck to a vein :D

Kommentar von Allakhazam

I feel sorry for the 3405 that mined it and got no Thorium Ore...

Kommentar von Allakhazam

too bad its not like you can find high level epics inside veins, that would be nice^^

Kommentar von Allakhazam

well, someone found a scroll of agility inside a copper vein...

Kommentar von Allakhazam

I wanted to know the exact mining skill required to mine these, i keep getting different answers... someone said 255, others said 275... i just want a straight answer lol

Kommentar von Allakhazam

im just wondering where i can found mass amounts of rich thorium veins or even small ones if you guys dont know
thanks in advance

Kommentar von Allakhazam

yummay

Kommentar von Allakhazam

does anyone know the respawn rate of rich thorium veins?

Kommentar von Allakhazam

of course! didn't you know that rich thorium veins was clams before they ate so much thorium so that they became thorium veins! noob...... ;D

Kommentar von Allakhazam

Wednesday December 6th 2006 I mined an Arcane Crystal out of a small thorium vein.

No im not on crack, and yes i did a double take to make sure it was indeed a Small not Rich.

I was astonished.
: )

First time its happened ever for me and ive been mining for 7 months plus.
I think its an extremely low drop % off small thorium veins.

There is not a single vein at dark whisper. Don't move based on this map. Probably 2019 wow classic has a much different and harder vein distribution than vanilla but wowhead use the same data. It is not true.

Mining Thoriumerz from Kleines Thoriumvorkommen requires level 245 skill & Reiches Thoriumvorkommen requires a level 275 skill.

I farmed Rich Thorium in EPL for last two days.

During that time, I've got 221 Thorium Ore and:
3 Arcane Crystals (1,36%)
6 Huge Emeralds (2,71%)
5 Blue Sapphires (2,26%)
1 Star Ruby (0,45%)
2 Large Opal (0,90%)
1 Azerothian Diamond (0,45%)

To sum up, gems droprate seems to be around 8,14%. I think 3% droprate for arcane crystal is too high :)
