This replaced the originally announced "Shades" summon for priests.

In my opinion, it looks much cooler, but I'm a little sad that all my "Blues Brothers" related macros are worthless now ;)

It's a pity it doesn't scale with +healing as well, since this ability is a good way for any priest to regenerate mana.

Still don't understand why Shadow Mend was voted out and replaced with Vampiric Touch when we knew we would receive this pet at 66.

Shadow Mend was affected by Shadow Damage. Seemingly a 1.5sec heal by the same mana cost as a normal Flash Heal would had been a better choice for Shadow Priests (hybrids) than yet another "tick on damage" debuff.

IMO it would had been more convenient, but you who (without testing it in the first place) thought that it was a bad move by blizz - should reconsider how sick it would had been to have a heal in Shadow Form.

When you're low on mana in a fight, and fight 2 or 3 mobs, this can be a real lifesaver. Get up mana, throw some heals and/or a shield, and you're back to action. Or use it on a new mob to gain mana without drinking.

the only limitation is that it dies too quickly if gets agro =\ didn't try to shield it yet though
(normal heals work on it finely)

this spell is great, at lvl 66, it does about 130-150 damage and restore about 350 mana per hit. That is alot. With this move I rarely have to drink when grinding or questing. It's like innervate for priest.

The shadowfiend can also crit for about 280-320 and this gives back 750-850 mana. Does have quite low health but its damage is not its main purpose.
