I do not know why Thottbot lists a droprate of ~27% for Elemental Fire on these mobs.
I have farmed for 2h and killed 160 of these, and just got 4 out of these, which means every 40th mob dropped one, resulting in a dropchance of around 2,5% :(

Better go farming the elementals in Arathi, there I had a dropchance of around 10% and they die like flies.

The reason some have a higher than 100% chance to drop is simple-they drop more than one of the item, so for example if an item had a 50% drop rate but usually dropped 3 or so at a time, it would come out as about 150%. That being said, Thottbot data isn't the most...accurate, either.

heart of fire drop rate is extremely off. I've killed roughly 20 of these guys and got two elemental fires but no heart of fires.

The reason why you don't get the drops that are seen in Thott doesn't have to do wtih Thott, it's just an anomoly that occurs in every day life. It's a principle that was proven a long time ago by I forget who, but the experiment went something like this.

It's called the red bean experiment, the idea is you have, for example, 500 black beans in the jar, and 100 red beans. Logic insists that if you go to take a handful out, you should be getting a 1:5 ratio of red to black beans. So let's say you take 30 beans out per handful. So you should be getting appx. 6 red beans per handful. But in reality, sometimes you get 3, sometimes you get 7, sometimes you get none. It's just the luck of the draw. On -average- of course you'll pull out 5 beans per handful, but averages don't reflect daily occurances.

Yesterday I was farming Essence of Fires from Un'Goro crater. The drop rate was appx. 2.5%, so every 100 mobs I should be getting 2 drops, right? But I spend 2 hours, killed roughly 175-200 mobs, and only got 1 essence. Of course I was discouraged. But I came back today, and sure enough, I got -4- essences in a period of less than an hour. So, just keep at it. Your success will improve.

Drops heart of fire and elemental fires.

Druids: Immune to bleed effects from Rake, Pounce and Rip.

Also immune to all fire based damage.

These guys are just hella fun to farm with good drops and good exp. Immune to flameshock and earthshock is resisted 50% of the time.

need loads of heart of fire for my BS and loads of xp so i'm gonna give these fellas something to worry about for the next few hours :o

I tried to farm these for heart of fire and i can say that the droprates of these and entropic horrors are completely wrong. I killed a bunch of these and got 1 heart of fire, 1 essence of fire and 25! core of elements. i know it all depends on luck but 1:25 drop of items that have nearly the same droprate means something... So anyone who need some heart of fire, i wouldn't recommend these. I suppose it's easier in un'goro (no lvl53 elites around). (sorry for my english, i'm from hungary)

I have this hunter i guess you can call him twink but he doesnt have super fly enchants he has like firies and on anethron prices of enchants are high! ppl always tell me to go farm it i need to know where a lvl 49 rogue can farm essence of fire.
