This axe in particular drops from Noth the Plaguebringer, a first level boss in the 40 man raid instance Naxxramas.

Compared to other 1h axes currently in the game, this is one of the best, if not best for any situation you are looking to use this weapon in. With a 1% increase to crit followed by a +36 to AP companied by an already impressive 65.4 over all dps (higher than some of the lower level 60 2h epics) it's a very impressive weapon if you are able to get your hands around one.

This with the castigator is a fury warriors dream combo, 2 weapons with the same speed, crazy stats and good dps.

Unlike Iblis I think hunters should get to bid on this one.
The second best 1h weapon for hunters is fang of the faceless with 1% crit but only 28 atp

We actually gave the first one that dropped to our maintank who, until then, had been using Quel'Serrar. Yeah it lacks the stamina of the Nef-Axe, but we never had it drop for us.
The next ones of course went to Fury Warriors. I don't know why you would give this to hunters, when they can get Eye of Nerub!

This is a great weapon for hunters and dps warriors. Definitely go for it if you have the chance, it's got speed and power so you can pump out the damage.

This axe drops in Naxx: Noth the Plaguebringer, 1st boss of the wing.

Secondly:

- This is the best Hunter Ranged DPS weapon in game.
- Info on hunters: there isn't a single weapon for all purposes, like any class. 2handed liek Barb of Sanreaver or Eye of Nerub are for survival. Duel wield is for pure ranged DPS.

Therefore since I hear this is good for warriors it will depend on:

- what current FURRY only warriors have in the guild.

we only have 1 furry warrior who is rank 14.

after that it will be given to hunters.

Even if you have the DKP, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE allow your raiding fury spec. warriors to pick this axe up first.

The absolute sickness of a 60+ DPS weapon like this in the hands of a flurrying fury spec'd warrior is going to do nothing but help your guild progress. Even though the stats are awesome for hunters too, the DPS output for a fury spec. warrior with this weapon will be pumped to a higher degree than the weapon's stats will help a hunter with his/her ranged DPS.

Okay, now I think I'm going to print out a picture of this axe and its stats, and go touch myself inappropriately with visions of 700 sustained DPS dancing through my head.

ok, i got a lvl 60 hunter moving through BWL atm with is guild. idd love epuiping this axe, as its awesome, but come on... lets face it guys... dps warriors will make WAY BETTER USE of it than us.

P.S. if ure a hunter that will need this over a dps warrior with the excuse "but i use melee alot and i deal much dmg", delete ur char, and make a warrior or a rogue... dont try to be what u arent just cause of an increadible weapon.

OK, I play a hunter. Have two hunters lvl 60 actually. On different servers. Blackrock H, and Laughing Skull A.

https://www.wowhead.com/classic/item=51696 (fang of the faceless) is pretty much the same thing as this. https://www.wowhead.com/classic/item=51839 (hakkari warblade) is the same as well.

So before you start complaining over the 6 attack power hunters, let the friggin damage dealers take this first.

they couldn't and won't ever dualwield (except the ones in Wailing Caverns ;), and they can't even use axes, and even if they could, only a lootmaster with monkey IQ would give this to a dr00d since they have no melee skills...

hunters have, but for wingclipping the rogue that ambushed you, u can use any weapon, why would u take away this from the warriors and shaman..

the same reason i was mad when first: a warrior took xbow of impedent doom in aq20 when i still had a crappy blue xbow on my hunter, and second: a rogue took strikers mark in mc. so when a hunta took this over a warrior or a shaman, that would be still the same, same thing. i guess the hunter who wanna get this took askhandi already from a warrior cos he had the most dkp, and wanna switch for this and edge of chaos. sheesh. realize guys, that if you are in a guild, that is still upgrading their equipment in naxx, a hunter should never get this till all the melee classes have it, and the same thing is with ranged weapons and warriors/rogues.

my little theory is: imagine that u have 100 points u can distribute between stats, when creating this weapon. the huge base damage costs 90 points, and the other 10 is the stats- that is realistic i think. a warrior or a shammy uses all the 100 points, while a hunter uses lets say 30 points, cos he melees sometimes. the reason it should never go to a hunter. this is a trinket for a hunter, not a main upgrade, like ranged is for melee classes- the benefit of a lvl 55 blue ring, a minor upgrade for the first class, while everything, a major upgrade for the other.

not to mention that there are lower lvl weapons with better stats for hunters.

okay this isnt bad for a enhancement shaman after expation. duel wield this with
The Castigator in off hand. you will be owning. and my guild has almost all shaman either enhancement, most are enhancement, or restro. for epic 60 this will be good but when expation comes out there will probly be better dual wield weapons for a shaman anyways.

You warriors and rogues really should think about petitioning blizzard about their recent nerf on hunters agility-rap, use to be 1 agility = 2 rap for us, but not anymore which means we (HUNTERS) are going to be after different melee weapons then we where before, meaning weapons with +ap...not our fault...you can thank blizzard and the infinite wisdom.
All the gold on mats I spent for agility enchants is for nothing now, all the time I spent grinding to get the agility enchant recipe is for nothing now, all of the dkp spent on agility rings and trinkets is for nothing now....like 2 years of hard work down the drain.

Sorry, greedy hunters, but this should never touch your hands. Wow, 6 AP upgrade over Silithid Claw. That's so worth screwing over the warriors. And for the record, I'm not a warrior, I'm a rogue, so I'm quite impartial in the matter.

I just got this, being a shaman. Not even an enhancement shaman - yet this axe does simply amazing things for me. In battlegrounds, I look forward to some rogue cheap-shotting me whilst defending a flag. Just because I'm cruel and I know how hopeless the fight is them - destroying the morale of the enemy might be the most important thing to do in battlegrounds because then they'll more likely make mistakes.

I'm wearing this and Malistar's Defender, my AC is about 5700 resulting in a nice damage reduction. The good thing about this weapon is that my burst damage hasn't gone done much after switching from two-hand (Finkle's, then Herald of Woe) to this baby, I critted a druid in cat form for around 1200 with a single windfury-proc (2 crits, one hit).

It's a very nice weapon for hunters, DW-warriors ...and shamans. I tried different builds while playing my shaman (though I never specced mana-tide, it's simply too boring) and always went back to a Tri-Spec (19-11-21 with Patch 1.11). The reason is that whilst you do extremely nice damage while playing a 30/0/21-build or 18/33/0, I often find myself in the position where I lack things that fit my playstyle. Playing the shaman as a true hybrid always was the most satisfying for me. I'm tempted to collect some enhancement gear (only the pants from Fankriss and the gloves from the Twins missing) and try out how hard this weapon will hit people then, but I guess I'm going to miss either the 5-second cooldown on shocks or Nature's Swiftness, one of the best talents the shaman has at his disposal.

To sum it up, I'm a very happy troll - this weapon has made me stronger vs. rogues, warriors and hunters ...and I can still take out that massive two-hander whilst fighting casters. You don't really need damage mitigation there, just a nice windfury-proc.

This is an awesome fury MH for a warrior, it is slow and very high DPS, with nice stats to boost. In light of the hunter changes in 2.0 (the change to RAP from Agi), it is also a nice hunter 1H for PvE. Both classes can put this axe to good use.

About the hunter agility nerf, sure, your benefit from agility is diminished, but you get more crit per agi now too, so it isn't all bad. Agi is sill a great stat for a hunter, and agi enchants are still the best enchants for you, too.

I feel that this axe is fine for all of the following classes:

1 : Enhancement Shamans
Yeah you heard me correctly, an enhancement shaman can use this just we well as anyone else. We would allow them to spend DKP on it but we would urge them not to untill the PVE pushing classes had the first dibs.

2 : Fury Warriors
By all means spend your DKP on this, it has a wonderful crit chance as well as some awesome DPS, the AP is great as well. Go for it.

3 : Marksman Based Hunters
Marksment bassed hunters are support hunters, normally with 5/5 in the Hunters mark and a trueshot aura, they don't have a bonus on the agility they get, so this means they need attack power from other sources, they also do not have the crit bonuses you will see on a survival specced hunter... All AP + Crit items normally go to our Support hunters. We show them love because they are there to help us out.
