For whatever rogues think this is so-so. You're sorely mistaken.

40 DAMAGE = white damage, just like say Tiger's Fury (Druid skill).

Lets see now +40 White dmg.

Backstab multiplier = 1.8 (with talents)
so 1.8*40 = 72 More dmg on backstabs
2.3*72 = 165 More dmg on crit backstabs

Ambush multiplier = 3 (with talents)

so 3*40 = 120 More dmg on ambushes
2*120 = 240 more dmg on crit ambushes

SS Multiplier = 1

40 more dmg on ss
92 more dmg on ss crit

So, like I said, any rogue that thinks this trinket is so-so, you're out of your damn mind.

2 rogues in my guild have this.

It does raise BASE dmg by 40, so it works wonders with ambush and backstab modifiers. I noticed in Damage Meters that the rogues using this in MC have raised their average backstab damage about 75-100 points (now hitting ON AVERAGE for 900+ each).

Amazing trinket for dealing major damage.

I just don't get this! Combat specc'd 'locks clearly benefit the most from this item, esp. in the ever popular Molten Core. Why would rogues hunters or flurry warrior really care about a few extra damage anyway? They do enough as it is. But, for a combat specc'd 'lock, every little bit counts; I nearly got booted from a M.C. raid because they told me that I wasn't doing enough damage and should start casting shadow bolts and I told them that I'm combat specc'd. A combat 'lock can't really do much damage in M.C. since even with all "of the bear" gear our attack power doesn't get high enough to make much of difference (the rune of guard captain helps, but it's not enough). Furthermore, the only meelee damage booster we have, the firestone, doesn't help in M.C. because all the enemies have very high fire resistances and many are wholly immune to fire-based attacks. Therefore, we combat specc'd warlocks desperately need items like this that will let us milk the D.P.S. of the Azuresong Mageblade for all it's worth.
Stop. Think. Pass to the warlock!

equip this and devilsaur eye. burn both with rapid fire and quick shots. FD, swap to some passive trinket. gg target.

the ability to remove yourself from an aggro table is so powerful in pve.

This is what I found out one day when I decided to test it out. lvl 60 Fury Warrior with Deathbringer MH and Lobotomizer OH. I also have 5/5 imp battleshout.

DPS
Without Trink
MH 120.4
OH 69.5

With Trink
MH 134.2
OH 97.3

With Trink + Battleshout
MH 151.4
OH 108

With Trink + Battleshout + Deathwish
MH 181.7
OH 129.6

The result is with the 40+ dmg the buff starts out with.
I'll let you guys draw your own conclusions.

Nah...
On AQ-opened realms, the trinket Earthstrike shines for fury.

280 AP translates into a flat 20 DPS increase, with a slow weapon such as Deathbringer, this is a massive increase. Bloodthirst also takes a hefty 126 damage increase. I can see the ZHM being useful for incredibly fast weapons like eskhandars, though.

There is the fact you can use both of these trinkets... swapping them in and out, but a 2 minute cooldown isn't really all that much of a wait, and by the time you leave combat, you've probably already finished half, or even all, of the cooldown.
The armor trinket would probably see more use.
Earthstrike isn't actually all that hard to acquire, it just takes a ton of farming to get done.

Let me do some math...

Diamond Flask: +75 Str for 60 seconds
75 Str = 150 Attack Power
150 / 14 = 10,7 DPS

With a 2-hander such as my Obsidian Edged Blade, 10,7 DPS is: (10,7 * 3,4) = 36,42 more damage with every hit. Which doesn't decrease. For 60 seconds instead of 20.
Oh, it also gives you 9 hp every 5 seconds.

Am I missing something here?

The use of the trink does break ur stealth, so ambushing is a bit of a pain but u still can use it right before u vanish:)..it makes the same sound and animation as the use of AR btw.
Talking about who might find better use for it..
I can only point one thing out is that i love the trink being a seal fate rogue, and i only use it for pvp purposes. Imagine u have 8x stacked +5 impact chanted on ur dagger for one shot..
and the interesting part of this lil thingie is that +dmg is not getting castrated by the off-hand penalty, figured i'd note this as well.

All in all, you should pass the heart for ur guildie mage, be a nice rogue:)
hunters that are trying to claim the heart have to chose charm:) which they gonna get more use from:) and then check with the local psychiatrist.

You can pop this and Badge of the Swarmguard, they dont share cooldown (I have both and I use it often). Pop the badge and after 10sec pop the Medallion + rapid fire = profit.

Now at first glare this stinks compared to the one casters would use.

Say, backstab for 1100, and then 40 extra dmg would give us a total of 1140, obviously.

Not even worth using that trinket then.

BUT!

If the 40 is base dmg, we'll be seeing quite some insanity in near future :)

I normally do 1700 ambush to mages with perdition. If I pop this before stealthing and then ambush I'd get about 2000 ambush crits. This trinket is amazing. Not to mention I can backstab afterward for about 1600 pretty much two shotting the mage.

just got my ZHM replaced by a ZHC via a GM ticket.

a. I'm a 1/29/21 druid that heals in raids

b. I love ganking, but the stealth issue plus the fact that you're not always getting the full 420 dmg out of it, and rarely get any of that multiplied by Ravage.

c. feral trinkets are quite commonplace, while the ZHC is really only equalled by the TOEP, which goes for max dkp every time it drops in my guild still.

d. I'm going for Earthstrike and possibly one of the + dmg Darkmoon cards eventually, at which point ZHM woulda been even less used, while the ZHC would still be going strong, I believe.

It adds 40 RAW damage. Thats before calculations. With Lethality and Opportunity it becomes a huge damage buff. Shame u cant use it for ambush, as it knocks you out of stealth.

AQ also drops a nice trinket like this one. Its not on this web page yet though.

Got it on our guilds last ZG clearing and whenever i use it the floor beneath me starts to clip and party members notice it aswell =/

Well, with my Barman and some buffs [Blessing of Might, Blessing of Kings, Battleshout, aand Mark of the Wild I gave a Rabbit a 2.5k Ambush..
I am sure, with Perdition's and some rare buffs you'll get 3k Ambushes

I just got this trinket and I have been using Earthstrike (20 seconds of +280 AP, Cenarion Circle reputation reward). I was afraid that by shared cooldown that meant you use one and they both go into a two minute cooldown cycle but that is not the case. Instead its only 20 seconds of cooldown, that is invoke ZHM and 20 seconds later you can use Earthstrike. This is a pretty good combination for boss fights. For anyone else who didn't know how trinkets and shared cooldown works, yes you can grab this and Earthstrike and use them back to back for impressive consistent DPS.

If the trinket effect is used up before the 20 secs, then it would add a total of 420 damage every 2 minutes. Not too crappy, but i'd much rather use my hand of justice, which will generally proc more than once every two minutes, and can crit too.

To get the full 420 damage, you'd need to attack once a second or more, with misses/dodges that may not happen all the time, especially with swords :P

yea it adds 40 base dmg, like for me it makes my dmg go from 151-204 to 191-244... and since ambush and backstabb add a % of your dmg it makes this trinket relly nice

The summary is, this trinket is pretty sad. Generally you'll only get - at best - 420 damage out of this. You need to land 20 hits during 20 seconds to get the full benefit. Since it acts as a +X weapon damage buff, it is better if you have multipliers for your physical damage such as Ambush, Backstab or Deathwish.
Perhaps certain weapon specialization talents would work as well.

I don't see a situation where this is better, compared to regular AP trinkets or just static trinkets, other than PvP where having a quick burst of damage on-demand is more valuable than having a high damage over time. Maybe a dagger rogue or feral druid could make it work for raids, but I rather doubt it due to the inherent issue that your white attacks reduce the bonus for your abilities.

To get nerdy, this buff is equal to 560 AP, divided by weapon speed, and reduced by 5% (28) on every hit. For a weapon with 3.00 speed, this would be around 150 AP with 7.5 AP being lost on every swing. For a dagger with 1.50 speed it's 300 and 15. What makes this trinket so mediocre is that all the weapons that benefit from this most due to their speed also consume the 20 charges very quickly.

This trinket is downright pathetic. For Horde, the mid level quest trinket Rune of the Guard Captain is already superior and raid trinkets like DFT provide more AP - permanently - on top of other benefits. Also HoJ or 2% crit trinket from BRS quests. So many options which are easier to obtain are better than this and actual raid trinkets are far, far better than this.
