Yes, there are some debuffs, the worst of which is the fire. However, the time saved when teleporting from one continent to the other is well worth it! For what it's worth, I popped a healing potion when the fire hit me, and was fine.

And it malfunctions. I've used twice first time success no problems... second time it transported me and when i got to everlook i had a debuff on that said malfunction. I was on fire and it was DOT that took about 5 seconds to kill me. 60 hunter with 3k AC and 4k HP. This is nice to have because now i'm hearthed in kargath for raids and OG is a quick 3 min flight.

Yepp it does malfunction. First time a 320 dps over 20 secons. No durabillity loss tho. Happened to me twise so far. Other malfunctions have been the completely harmless but quite funny debuff "you have been replaced by you evil twin". Last two hours and have no effect what i can tell so far.

Not sure wherther i should sluk about the Gnomish guys getting a better transporter location or nott. Closer to Earth, Wind and Fire (no pun intended) grindig, but we have closer to a quick thrium grind.

Works perfectly but I've had the fire DoT that I think is just designed to kill you no matter what. Mine was a 373 fire tick on my warrior, died by no durability loss.

2nd time I was transformed into a Kolbold and then an Ogre for a small period of time. (Quite humorous being a Gnome)

3rd time I got the Evil Twin thing mentioned above.

This thing has malfunctioned everytime I use it. 4 hour cooldown.

Anyone know why a Teleportation Device needs a bomb as one of the ingredients.

It needs a bomb because so says the legend of the schematic. It blows you up into a million pieces then you get reassembled elsewhere.

So the evil twin is harmless?

I'm a Goblin Engineer and I can't get this recipe from the guy in Everlook. Is there a certain lvl of Engineering required to acquire this or is that (260) just to use it?

... can you change the destination?

There seems to be a few 'transporter' pads dotted around. One in Everlook, one in Booty Bay, another in Gadgetzan and one inside Gnomeregan. All operated by either Gnomes or Goblins with humourous 'Trek' type names.

I used mine just after building it today and went to Everlook, though got turned into a Kobold for a few seconds apon arrival.

The Booty Bay transporter is used to get horde players to Gnomeregan. You have to do a quest first to get a transponder. Once you have that transponder, oyu can use the transporter as you like to get to Gnomeregan (and thus Dun Morough)

The damage inflicted upon malfunctioning is is 120% of your max health over 24 seconds. A shield or a decent HoT will prevent you from getting killed.

I used it 4 times!
1st time I became a Murlock! I culden't move and it was for 30 sec!
2nd time i was Replaced by an Evil twin!
Dunno what Evil twin does, try to search for that buff and you will see what others have to say about that!
buff last for 2hours, but I didn't got any special things when I got it...

Do you need the Goblin engineering card to use the transporter, or just to build it? My card is going to expire soon, just wondering if I need to start gathering the materials for getting a new card.

I love this thingy. I don't have to sit around waiting for the boat across the ocean anymore. I have my hearthstone on the eastern continent and this to get me back west.

I always put on some FR gear and my mage armor buff (75-90FR) and my fire ward right before using it. with all that the malfunction only takes my health down 10-25%.

Just made this,(gnome 'lock alt), first time I used it, I got two malfunctions, unfort, I'm not sure what happend, think I turned into a kobold and froze in place, 'cos I couldn't move off the platform 'til the second effect wore off. (Couldn't see what the appearance was because I had my void with me and he was on top of me on the platform...didn't think to look at char screen).

I tried this, and I got changed into an Ogre, which was cool for a little while, but eventually it got kind've tired. If there's another Engineer there in Winterspring with u, is it possible to use a Recombobulator to change you back to normal as soon as you get teleported and the debuff occurs? I need some advice from fellow engineers =p

With the advent of TBC, I've switched my hearthstone from Org to Shattrath. In the event I need to go to Azeroth, I just equip this baby and off I go. Much better to use this than hearth to Shat and use a portal to Org or whatnot.

It usually works quite well, 4h cooldown sounds like a lot but it is ok for a 2. "heartstone"

When it goes wrong you get a nasty fire damage magic thing that will have killed you when you're finished loading. You don't loose durability and can just run the few 100 yards back to get your corpse :)

Where do you get the schematic? I looked at the engineering supplier in Everlook, but can't find the schematic. Does he only have one and it has to respawn in his "for sale" inventory?

You don't buy this from the nominal Goblin Engineer. There should be a new transporter in town, and a Goblin Engineer operating it. Talk to him and he'll teach you how to make it for free.

I used it for 8 times now. first 4 times went wel. 5th time i got a Evil Twin debuff, so i could not be teleported. 6,7 went also well. 8 time i got the !@#$ing FIRE DOT. i saw it already at the moment i teleported so i pressed immideately in Everlook one of my bananas in action bar. i had 1% live when it stops ;) lucky me. Its like 430 fire dmg ever 3 seconds.
TIPS.
1. Put off your gear before you teleport.
2. Put on FR-gear
3. Put on a Parachute cape when you start.

I love this thing. I spend a lot of time on Kalimdor, and my Hearth is in IF. I don't wanna change my hearth due to IF being the center of pretty much all alliance activity, so it makes a great method of getting to Kalimdor without the money spent on gryphons and such. As I ususally spend several hours at a time in a place before I leave it, the 4hour cooldown doesn't really bother me.

The speculation that the Evil Twin debuff pevents you from being summoned by a warlock is false. I'd used the ripper to go to Everlook and got the debuff while on my way to an Azuregos raid. One of the warlocks in the raid decided it would just be quicker to summon me, did, and the next moment I was standing in Azhara.

I also took a mage portal out afterwards.

The debuff does absolutely nothing. At most it is a tribute to Star Trek. I do have fun pretending that I'm "evil" while the debuff is on, though. lol!

Notes on Evil Twin: this debuff makes people send you tells calling you evil. That's all it does, just run around yelling that you are evil. Then... Killl some helpless chickens or something. Other then that it does nothing at all.

Few days ago on KJ the server was lagging so badly that when you took the boat it took so long to load you would up up dropping out of the load midway right back at the same zone you was trying to leave. Anyway this warrior got angry and tried to port, poor thing blew her self up. It failed and she was on fire. Huge exploson though killed her and she had on wrath/might gear, it was lagging so much she couldn't eat.

Fire Dot - didn't kill me, had a quick loading time and started munching on a quail.
Evil Twin - who knows? Roleplay debuf? (I was so hopping I could attack my own side, that would be cool)
Ogre Transform.

If you load fast enough its np to survive if you get the fire dot.. Just start eating something or otherwise theres some supplier who usually has some heal pots just nearby.. In case the 10% durability loss is more expensive than a pot :)

Came across this in everlook by accident. I had heard that only Gnome engineers had it for Gadgetstan. I love being goblin, but now I really love it lol.

Edit: Used it 6 times now and nothing's happened yet.

If you want a 2nd hearthsone, heres how.
1. Leave the Zerglliance
2. Make a shaman
3. Get to Level 30
4. Go to shaman trainer, learn Astral Recall and violla!
There you have it, free 2nd hearthstone and only a 15min cooldown

There's a lot of confusion about this currently. There are basically four types of items that can be made by engineers:

BoE items that can be used by any engineer and traded.
BoP items that can be crafted by a specific specialization, but used by any engineer
Items that require a specific specialization to use.
BoP items that can be crafted by an engineer, but can be used even after engineering is dropped

Gnomish Engineering allows you to craft these items:

If your intent is to switch to Goblin after crafting all the goodies (by dropping and re-leveling Engineering), you should probably craft all of these items, but you must craft 侏儒护目镜, 侏儒作战小鸡, 侏儒死亡射线, and 发条娃娃 (these are BoP) or you will lose access to these items permanently (unless you drop and re-level gnomish engineering again.

安全传送器：加基森 and 世界放大器 cannot be used by a non-gnomish engineer, so you can skip crafting these if you're planning on switching.

NOTE: 侏儒死亡射线 doesn't require Engineering to use, so technically, you could level Engineering to craft this item, and drop it and still be able to use it.

Goblin Engineering allows you to craft these items:

Should be noted that you have to finished the quest "Show your work" before your truly a goblin engineer, this allows you to actually acquire / learn goblin recipes !

I guess this is common sense - but not for me apparently...

You have to be a Goblin Engineer - or the gobbys in Area 52 and Winterspring won't even talk to you. I mean they will but it's just some chatter you can't respond to and they offer you nothing. I kept wondering why I couldn't interact with them or get the recipes for the D-Rippers until I went into my Professions and took a look at my specialization (which was Gnomish) and then it all made sense...

Just an FYI

...so much wasted time.
