Any druid serious about going resto is going to want this. Quite an amazing cloak. This is of course nice for pre-raid gear or beginning raid gear. Once you get into MC, for instance, you can find a nice cloak. This should hold you over until then. :) I recommend farming the materials and getting a leather worker to make, although, you can purchase either the mats or the cloak it self on the AH for quite a bit.

So +6 int is better than +42 healing? Hm...6 int = 90 mana. Not like that can get you much. It's what..

1/10 a greater heal, so about 260 hp there.

1/4 a renew, so 275 hp.

1/4 a flash heal, so 225 hp.

Even if you just used flash heal over and over like an idiot, getting 45% of the +42 per heal, you only need to heal about 10 times to make up the 'mana lost' here. That's under 4k mana.

Regen and +healing 4tw.

When I take a look at how I play my priest, mostly casting Renew(100% +Healing apply), Flashheal(42% +Healing apply) and Prayer of Healing(100% +Healing apply), each healing about 1000hp, it means that +10 Healing equals about 0,6% more healing out of my mana pool of 6000. So in my eyes +10 Healing equals about +4 Int, the +42 of the cloak adding up to 17 extra Int. Therefore the Hide of the Wild seems to be a pretty good investment.

Well, I started Grinded for the mats, for this, when i was level 52. I would probably get the mats hurrier if i was 60- but also a good way to gain exp. When i was finish, i was level 55. I started with larval acid in EPL. They drop with 2% on carrions. Then i started to grind essence of water. The waterelementals in Felwood, has a 5% droprate. After this i grinded after living essence in Ungoro Crater. From the tar lurker and tar lords. They have a 2% droprate. Then i buyed the rugged leather on AH, for about 2 g. The cured rugged hide, was given for free by a Guildmate. The rune thread is sold for vendor for 4 g. The recipe, another guildmate hat.

So about 40 hours (boring) grinding and some guildes it costes me 6g. Thats cheap ^^

Nothing beats this that drops in MC, so it's well worth the investment. It'll last you a good while, priest or druids. Hell, even shaman can make excellent use of this item.

This cloack is 250g MAXIMUM, ppl allways try to sell for much more expensive. You can buy materials from ah or grind them. Personally I bought mats from ah for 100g and the rest I grinded for myself.

Rugged Leather -> AH, 1g per stack, total 3g
Living Essence -> Un'Goro Crate, Tar Lord, 2%droprate
Essence of Water -> Felwood, Toxic Horror, 6% droprate
Larval Acid -> EPL, Carrion Grub, 3% droprate
Cured Rugged Hide -> Difficult to grind if you're not skinner. I would suggest to buy from ah, that'll make you 3x2g=6g

yeah I farmed the 8 acids for like 5 hours and bought the rest , total cost approx 170g.

Like anything, the price of this item to buy or get it crafted for you just depends on your server. On Dragonblight the AH mats average 280g, so if it shows up pre-made for 300g it might be worth it just to buy it outright. Still the mats and pattern are enough of a pain to farm that I would pay at least 200g for it but no more than 350 on any server.

Lets do a simple calculation to determine a fair price here.

8 Larval Acid x 12g
10 Essence of Water x 8g
12 Living Essence x 7g
3 Cured Rugged Hide x 5g
30 Leather x 1g/stack
________________________
Total = 278g for the Mats ALONE

Now, add the cost of either buying the pattern (about 500g) or running DM North 100 times to get the 1% drop, and you have at least a 25g crafting fee to add onto the mats cost.

That leaves AT LEAST a cost of 303g, if you feel generous and don't want to take advantage of the fact that only a handful of ppl on your server can make this.

Maybe these mats are ridiculously less expensive on your server, but I seriously get sick of all the whiners who complain when I tell them that this cloak will cost them 350g. It is the BEST healer cloak in the game. Yes, you can settle for cloak of the cosmos for a few DM runs, but if you want the best there is, and if you're serious about healing, you can spring for a few hundred gold. Since you're probably healing for your guild, you could also probably get them to help you with the cost.

What enchants have you guys been putting on this cloak? I'm thinking about the +15 FR, but i already have another cloak with +27FR which i can always pump up to +35FR. I know it doesn't have the healing stats as this one...but i'm looking for overall value of the enchant since it'll cost 300g.

Any comments on what you all have or are planning to enchant this with?

On a relatively new server (Vek'nilash, about 3 months old atm), the cost of mats are very high.

8 Larval Acid x 20-30g (rarely up on AH)
10 Essence of Water x 10g
12 Living Essence x 4-10g
3 Cured Rugged Hide x 10-30g
30 Leather x 1g/stack

So I decided to farm for every item I needed, except for the Rugged Hides (5 days to find 2 individuals who would sell them for 10g).

Larval Acid: 18 hours of farming
Living Essence: 24 hours of farming
Essence of Water: 10 hours of farming

% drop reflected what thottbot says. You have to keep in mind that other people are ALWAYS farming the mobs you need. I am on a PVE server but I would imagine spending even more time farming on a PVP server, unless you wtfpwn everyone (which I really, really don't).

So 350g or so for this seems like a reasonable price on a mature server. On mine it would've been a deal. Wouldn't have paid that much before I farmed the items, but now I wish I could've =P

Crafter (Shamrock) charged 20g for the combine which I happily paid (if you can farm for so long, or pay for all the mats, you CAN afford a crafting fee/tip).

Started farming at lvl 55 with no XP, stopped farming halfway into 57.

Very happy druid wishing you good luck on your mats farming =)

I farmed some mats and bought others.

The Plaguelands are the best place to find your mats:

Living Essence: In and around the cave on the east side of the Western Plaguelands, although there are some nasty slimes here that spawn 5-6 adds that zerg you. Otherwise the cave in the north part of Felwood is great for farming as it's elementals only and they are easy to kill.

Essence of Water: The lake in the south of the Eastern Plaguelands is good as its big enough for there to be a respawn as you work your way around it. Otherwise the Toxic Horros in Felwood also drop it but there are only a few of them and they tend to be exhausted quickly.

Larval Acid: Evenly dispersed over the Eastern Plaguelands.

Rugged Leather and Cured Hide: Can be got from Skinners and Leatherworkers respectively or bought on the AH.

Rune Thread: Sold in Tailor shops or by general goods vendors.

On my server (EU - Bloodhoof) the prices are pretty stable.

Living Essence: 8g
Essence of Water: 7-8g
Larval Acid: 7g
Rugged Leather (x10): 1g
Cured Rugged Hide: 3g
Runethread: 50s (45s honoured)

So the mat costs were 248g, in addition I paid 5g for a nice guy to combine it for me so relatively the manufacture was a bargain.

This is a great healer cloak. In addition to some of the other healer stuff I have collected (for any Healadins out there I am using Whitesoul Helm, the Abyssal Plate of Healing kit and have been lucky enough to pick up Plate of the Shaman King) I have added over 100 hp to my flash of light and can now keep a 5 man alive in lower instances like BRD, LBRS, Strat and Scolo quite easily.

Since I made my toon I've known I wanted to have one of these capes. (Full Resto Druid)...I turned 60 about 2 weeks ago and have spent a ton of money on the mats for this cape:

Living Essencex12:
I got three as drops, and got tired of farming and bought the other 9 for about 8g each.
72g

Larval Acidx8:
Fortunately our guild has a guild bank, and I got 5 of these from the bank, so that was free. The other three were 13g each.
39g

Essence of Waterx10:
I farmed for 6+hours in Felwood and got 1 Essence of water from the Toxic Horrors. That was just too much time on that, and I went and bought the rest for 7g each.
63g

Leathers were free cause I'm a skinner, spent 1g on some Deeprock Salt to have a friend cure it for me, and the Rune Threads were 45s each (x3).

Total Cost for this Cape: About 176g

But TOTALLY worth it :)

Here are the mats for crafting the cloak.

- 30 Rugged Leather, Found on lvl 45+ beast.
- 12 Living essence, Found in the north of un goro crater.
- 10 Essence of water, Found in felwood at Iron tree woods.
- 8 Larval acid, Found from the worms in Eastern plague lands.
- 3 Cured rugged hide, A 250 skilled lw can make this with a shaltshaker.
- Rune thread, These you can buy from a lw vendor.

*If you are looking for a crafter on the server "Trollbane" /w acidcrew (when you got the mats and a small fee)then.

This cloak may be expensive to get, but it has lasted me through ZG, AQ20, MC and most of BWL.

The cloak from Flamegor might be an upgrade, but if you don't think it is, I think the upgrade drops from C'Thun, which just makes the hide an even better value.

So if you are just starting raiding in a new guild/community: Get your Hide, ASAP.

This is from a holy paladin point of view. It might be different for other healers, but I doubt it.

IMO. it's clearly an upgrade, the Nefarian encounter is *long*, but I'm also low on mana/5.

To claim that a crafted item should only sell for X amount is silly. Supply and demand changes for the materials needed and not every server has the same material price at the AH.

Now if the crafter does all the work at gathering the materials whether it be waiting for good prices on the AH or farming the mats in the field... there is a price for that time involved.

Lets just say the mats cost 250g. what sort of profit should the crafter make? I didnt level up tribal leatherworking just to make you stuff for free. I paid 350g for the Hide of the Wild pattern. I hope youre not going to tell me what I should charge to cover expenses.

Now if you bring me the mats, i charge a flat rate of 15g to craft the cloak (free to guild members). Its a damn fine healer cloak and one that will last a LONG time.

If you dont want to buy at the crafter's asking price, find out what he/she charges for the combine and then farm the mats yourself. But please, dont tell me what I should/should not charge for this item.

i would say i got the hide of the wild in 1 day :) got the leather from friends, also with the rugged hide, i had herbs that i sold for some 300g (NO JOKE I CAN really get that much herbs), bought 3 larval acids, and farmed the the last 5...essence of water and liviing esssence i also bought...all great deals

Got it from Dire Maul, from a crate. =O This is a Pattern btw. Can only be made my a lvl 300 Tribal Leatherworker.

The "of agility" is a bug...the bonus doesn't actually apply, and it only appears for people inspecting the person. I have seen Cloak of Warding of Proficiency that adds Dagger Skill, Shadowcraft Bracers of Skill that add Gun Skill, its more or less random and the bonuses don't actually exist.

my hide of the wild cost me a grand total of 3-4g which was the price for the 8 rune thread :P i got the plans from a DM north run, farmed all the mats within 2 evenings and that was it! nice healing cape for me shammy :)

I dont know, for a purple cape its not all that good. Im going for the Chromatic cloak. I think. My current blue cape is about as good as this. They need to tweak it a bit before I spend another 6hrs farming 1 essence of water.

Your finding Essences of Water hard to get? I got 12 in 45min from the Toxic Horrors in Felwood, probably just luck though =) Larval Acid where a bit of a pain but the hardest part by far is getting the actual pattern.

I got all the mats for my druid, theres a priest in my guild too but the only person i know on Medivh that has the pattern is for an alt of theirs thats not high enough leatherworking to make it yet.
I wish the damn pattern would drop for me

This is definately one of best cloaks a healer can use. Unfortunately it is quite hard to farm for it (larval acid has a very low droprate).
Cloak of the Cosmos is almost as good as this and very easy to get.

in all this cloak costed me 250g in mats on my server. that is buying everything but the 30 rugged leather and 8 Larval Acids. If you do not have a AQ20 running guild these are VERY DIFFICULT to attain. luckily i got 4/8 of the acids from my guild, it took me a total of 4 hours of farming to get 4 Acids. So, unless your guild has a multitude of Larval Acids in the AH, happy farming and good luck! I know i am very happy with mine

Joined a new guild, ran a hell of a lot of Tribute runs with guildies, finished the Tribute and hunter Arsh in group asked me to stay back...opend trade and this lil beauty arrived in my back pack. HOW GOOD IS THAT! Truly adds a great bonus to healing (synonymous no doubt...)

woot! i got this yesterday. guildmate can craft one. i already have some of the mats needed, bought some of the missing mats at the AH. cost me around 160g all in all. crafting was free because he's a guildie. :)

There is a good alternative if you don't have the money for Hide of the Wild, or are bothered to farm -> Cloak of the Cosmos from a Dire Maul mob

Well a healing effect bonus of 42 is a huge healing boost. The highest one-item bonus I've seen so far is a 37 on the blue offhand item that the ogre king drops in Dire Maul. And that's not quite as good for a healer, since staffs give the best caster boni and thus leaves no place for an offhand item. If not for the fabu Cloak of Warding, my druid would go for this one - if he would pay over 300g for it is of course another matter entirely...
