This remains one of the best mage robes for a very long time, even for raiders. Spending the money involved (essences ouch) is completely worth it - you won't replace it for quite a while.

I suggest any mage that is serious about raiding should get this robe. The mana clicky is invaluable and is on its own cooldown and these robes are the best thing till Enigma from C'thun.

I made at lvl 59 and am still using them. It only lacks stam, but get the ZG robes and switch them out when your called to aoe constantly.

Mats are heavy but if you grind elementals to level to 60 you will have your mats in no time.

These robes are fantastic! High +damage, 2% chance to crit, and a click function for an extra mana burst. Paired with the Fire Ruby, a Conjured Mana Ruby, and a Major Mana Potion, you can nearly fill your mana bar (roughly 1/2 - 3/4 on a UBRS geared mage).

These robes were worth every copper piece until patch 2.0.1 came out and Honor became a currency.

The robes have dropped in price significantly over the last few months since the reagents have become less valuable. However, the PvP Epic gear is a better overall choice.

At level 62 I spent 5g on the pattern for this, plus two days farming essences. It wasn't an improvement over the Shadowcast Tunic (https://www.wowhead.com/classic/item=31717), but it's a robe, where all the early-to-mid 60s pieces with decent stats are ugly tunics, apparently designed with malice to clash with every single other piece given as a quest reward. (On a female BE, the blue/purple/green/chartreuse/lavender pants set is particularly outrageous, especially when your guild tabard is red.)

I slapped a +15 spirit enchant on it and am still wearing it for PvE at 65, though I do still keep a +STA chest around for PvP. The mana clicky has saved my ass more than once, being just enough for another blink or slow or frost nova or mana shield cast.

Definitely not worth the effort for most, when you can easily run an instance or two for a comparable or better piece, but you're definitely not going to look like anyone else wearing this and the stats are still decent post-BC.

For a fight of 10 + minutes
you can use this robe 3 times

if average mana gained = 450
total mana gained =450*3=1350

as
1 int = 15 mana

this means 90 int

And u can still use health stone after 2 minutes

cant think of any robe better for MC

People,
A) its a mage specific, which makes it useless to priests and locks
B)If you roll on it AND YOU ARE NOT A MAGE TAILOR, all your doing is screwing over the mage in your group. You may make 500+ gold selling on AH, but it would make you a horrible person. If you do do this, I will create an alt on your server, opposite faction, get to lvl 60, and spawn camp you n00b body

So it would be ninjalooting if a ex.: Warlock tailor would need roll at the same time as there is a Mage tailor in the group too..

That would be pretty much ridicioulus!, Because.
Why do a Warlock need the pattern if it's BoP which means he cannot sell it + He cannot equip it either..

So what is he gonna do with it? Farm/Buy all the mats and disenchant it?

Hi guys
This is what i did to get the mats for the robe:

Beeing a firemage i had already adecent damage output (with some +firedmg gear, i'd say about +120).
I first tried to farm water essences in northern fellwood, but it went very slow.

Then I realized that the tar monsters in northern Un'Goro are vulnerable to fire (almost every firespell hits with a +20% vulnerability bonus). I could slice trough them in no time :)
The best part is, they drop Living Essence. On my server its worth up to 10g.

So I just farmed for these living essences and sold them all. And i just bought almost all the essences for the robe by myself (yeah... a few dropped for me while questing).

So my advice: If your a firemage, man, go farm these tar monsters... easyest thing in the world! (if your a bit lucky, > 50g/hr).

PS: This robe indeed kicks ass and is definately worth all the effort!

The mana effect no longer shares a cooldown with items and as our mana gems now do share cooldown with other items that makes this a valuable source of extra mana.

Even though there are now some other nice robes in AQ20 and elsewhere this is still great.

Decided to get the materials the hard way instead of buying mats (hey I bought the plans).

Essence of Fire - Un'Goro Crater. Probably the slowest accumulation as you usually have to fight them one-on-one. Scorchers don't chase you into melee while the Living Blazes do. If you can find a bunch of Living Blazes then sure you can take on several at a time. Also alot of competition here as it's a well traveled location.

Essence of Air - Silithus, North West side. Ride around and you can see these guys make nice like 4 point squares. Easy to ride this square pattern and pull 4 at a time sometimes 5 or 6.

Essence of Earth - once you are comfortable with the Air Elementals, you can move on to these. They are next to the Air Elementals. They hit harder, but you've had the practice.

Essence of Water - doesn't require combat as long as you have 300 fishing and bright baubles! By far the quickest to obtain. Thank god because doing the discordant bracer quest for Hydraxis noticed "Frostbolt Immune Immune etc" had to resort to AM and fire spells *gasp*

http://home.earthlink.net/~thalen/wow/elemental.htm Just fish the patches in Azshara and you'll get about one Essence of Water per pool spawn. Do yourself a favor and get the quest from Duke Hydraxis in Azshara before going to Silithus and you can kill 2 birds with one Solid Stone ;p

This is very nice for a crafted epic item.. I wouldn't expect it to be better than epic robes from the raid zones MC / BWL. Although it seems to have a better dmg increase than either alanna's, netherwind, or arcanist robes. +all stats or +100 to mana or hp would be required for this robe.

This robe is fantastic, especially for new/non-frequent raiders. If your going for maxing out spell damage, this is the best robe to get. A lot of frost mages on my server like to argue that they would much prefer the (name escapes me at the moment) robes from scholo with the +43 frost damage, but for raiding, the 15 stamina doesn't matter, you want the int and the mana restorying ability to lessen downtime. Less time you take drinking, faster you clear mobs/bosses. Faster loot, and more time in the day to go do other things, like pvp or w/e. Besides, what do you need stamina for frost mages . . .ice barrier/ice block ftw. The mana restoring ability is premium too. Granted thats only 375-675 mana, but thats on top of the 800+ mana you get from citrine and the 1100+ mana you get from the ruby, AND your evocate ..and finally a potion if all else fails. Mages should never run out of mana, even on a boss fight. All these mana restoring abilities ALLOW you to skimp a bit on intel gear and go hardcore dps gear. I just leveled my mage to 60 about 2 months ago (hunters are boring.) And have tested a lot of gear options and theories. In the end, mages are a DPS class . .so you know .. . . you should gear to do more DAMAGE. The "best" geared mage in our guild (I say best, but mean "has more raid epics than the other mages) still cannot out-dps me in MC. And I'm going in there with all blue spell damage gear, with the exception of the mana igniting cord and the robes of the archmage. Fully buffed i have around 6400 mana in dps gear, and I never run out of mana unless maybe a pally doesn't cleanse me in the geddon fight. So argue all you want, but ROTA is the best chestpiece to shoot for until you get your netherwind.

The damage bonus is applied universally. I've noticed somewhat of an increase in damage by my spells, especially during critical hits. I've broken 800 damage on several occasions when my old record was in the mid 700 range

+1% critical spell chance is always a plus

The +mana has a 5 minute cooldown, but it does not trigger the cooldown on any other items. So, you could use a mana ruby, mana potion, and the robe function, and get a good amount of mana back. Besides, anything helps.

As for the drop, don't worry if people try to ninja loot it if it drops. The pattern can only be picked up by a Mage with 300 tailoring skill.

I mean, compared to the Magisters Robe, it seems to lack some stats imho. Ok so it does extra damage, thats nice, and it has a 1% crit increase. The mana it gives you is neglible. But how much +int would also give you a +1% crit chance? The Magister has +31 int for increased crit and mana, plus +8 spi and +9 sta to boot. This one sure feels like a lot of work to get. Need to be a tailor and the ingredients will take some time to get too, not to mention the pattern itself. The only thing I can say is that it looks good though. :)

I looted the pattern a couple days ago and made my robe yesterday.

Yes, the robe is still BoP while the pattern is tradable. (And the robe is "Class: Mage")

And I am a skill 300 tailor mage when I looted the pattern from one of the Pyromancers.

lol dude non raiders ..... i have arcanist robe, arcanist bracers, arcanist mantle, and arcanist belt, and i rarely use them + i have zandalar robe mantle and bracers + i have robe of volatil power , and my guild is in bwl and i still prefer robe of the archmage because its mana regen is above all others + 2 zandalar set shoulders and bracers makes me have arround +484 dmg if i use arcanist 3 pieces i loose tons of dmg even using zandalar as chest or if i use zandalar chest and arcanist shoulders and zandalar bracers i dont loose mutch dmg but i have 230 or arround that more mana and that is a frostbolt lol...only diference is stamina but for pve i dont need stamina that mutch

The bonus is given to damage and healing spell and *effects*, and includes *any* item you can have (trinket, ring, necklace etc) that you can use to heal yourself or cause damage.
So if I have a ring that will heal me for 600hp when used, this is considered a magical effect and I would get 640 with the bonus given by the robe.
I believe, for example, u would get the +40 when using a lifestone:
生命徽章 yes this is a mage only robe and the bonus to healing can be useful as well.

I wear this robe, got it 50% off normal AH price for the pattern and guildies/friends helped me farm for mats, I love this robe, it beats the %^&* out of any robe, - netherwind and new AQ robe ofc =) And: Freezing Lich Robes: Only for fire mages, and Robe of Winter Night: 1% crit ant the use: effect really rox. It have a 5 min CD, so in a long MC fight, u get to use it one-three times, along with the mana ruby and citrine. This robe beast the crap out of Arcanist robe, unless you have several arcanist pieces and get some set bonus, then I'd preffer arcanist.

You could farm these mats in one day if you got lucky, 2 days eaily. ALl mats are farmable and you dont need a group to farm them.

Compare this robe to Alanna's Embrace, Arcanist Robe, and Netherwind Robe. Seen in that light it's very unimpressive simply because it has almost nothing in the way of stats.

IMHO: Blizzard should get rid of the near-worthless On Use (it gives about as much mana as a regular Mana Potion, that's right, the level 20ish kind) and bump this baby up to +15 int/+15 sta. THAT would be an Epic robe.

I am not sure if they changed it, but when I got my pattern, it was BoP, and a pallie rolled the pattern Raid goes WTF? He says, "Ima tailer noobz" and we all screamed at him.

Well, I won the roll, but before I got the mats together, I got the RoVP from MC. This was about 6 months ago.

I am now back to farming mats for this again. RoVP is alot better for PvP, but this robe is better for PvE imo. Less crit in raids = less death.

Okay alot of mages will disagree with me on this, but I can't understand why you would spend money on this robe, or the pattern. I have mooncloth robes, and have had the chance to buy this robe/pattern several times. I would never wear it because I think it's just garbage. Okay we have 12 intellect/1% to crits/Up to 40 damage/Restores 375-625 mana. Hmm.... let me think. Well you lose 13 intellect/12 Spirit/12 Stamina for 1% crits/Up to 40 damage/ and 375-625 mana. I dont think the trade off is worth it. Okay the 1% crits does'nt mean jack unless you have a good amount of intellect from other items, and your other gear gives crits as well. The up to 40 damage does'nt translate out to be anything significant either. The 375-625 mana just makes me laugh considering you could only cast one more spell after you use it. I will take back what I said about the pattern though. I would actually buy it if I got a good deal, and farm the mats. Because a sucker is born every minute, and alot of suckers have bought this garbage. If blizzard wanted to make this robe/pattern worth getting they would change the stats to 10 intellect/10 stamina/8 spirit. They should keep the 1% to crits because it's epic. The spell damage could be dropped to "up to 30", and get rid of that retarded 375-625mana ability. Of course this is just my opinion.

This Robe is absolutely awesome. I have Netherwind and Zandalar Robe and i wear Archmage in every PvE fight where stamina isn't necessary.
In fact, with 1% crit and 40 dmg which is with my stuff about 56 dmg, it is equivalent to Enigma Robe or Robe of Volatil Power ( but it is much more easy to get especially when you don't do MC anylonger ) but the regen mana given is better.
About the stats, for a 5 min fight, the T2 Robe will give you 14 intel and 8 spirit so 210 mana + 135 mana ( regen 45% if you have Meditation ) + 120 mana if you use evocation so it is 465 mana while Archmage is 500 and Archmage give a higher dps boost.
For a fight which is longer then 5 min, the Archmage mana tick can be used 2 and sometimes 3 times so the difference with T2 Robe is more and more important.

How can people not think this is mage only. It says right on the recipe Class: Mage. That means only mages can wear it.

If you say Robes of Volatile Power I'll say good luck getting it. Our guild has done MC numerous times. I haven't seen it yet. However with a little money you can have this robe in a few days. This robe also does a lot more damage than RoVP. With 12 Int built in and 100 Health added you have a robe with 12Int, 10STa, +40 dmg, 1% Crit, and the mana you get from using it. Imo that makes it one helluva nice robe.

As for Magisters I would only use it for doing AOE farming for the extra intellect and depending on your other gear that might not even be necessary. You don't really need the extra stamina and if you haven't tried damage gear before you have no idea what a difference +40 dmg makes on single targets.

Nice math calculations nice people telling about dices (it's an online game with graph not a txt/dice game but nice way to put an example) and nice people telling how much they love this robe .
I will not disagree with noone , just one thing :
Even tho u use +spelldmg or +int +stam the result is the same . Now what do i mean :
A +spelldmg means that u gonna kill ur mob faster using less int and less stamina cause it will hit you less times ,
A +int and +stam robe means that u gonna kill your mob slower using more intelect and more stamina cause u gonna need more shots and it's gonna hit you more times .
At the end the result is the same , the mob is dead and the only think that change is the time tha you have spent to kill it :) .
So in finall coclusion , +spelldmg is for people that they are anxius and they don't have much time (agro type :P ) and +int and +stam is for people that they have all the time in the world and they r prity much on they world :P .
I am an anxius type sto thank you blizzard for putting that expansion FINALY and now we have CRAZY +spelldmg robes :)

So I am still farming the Airs for this robe, but I wanted to get your thoughts on the usefulness of this robe for an Arc build instance mage. I don't care about damage (approx. 8 DPS extra when casting AM), I really don't care about crit (I mean, come on, one out of 100 AM missiles is going to crit for an extra hundred damage? big whoop, an extra 1 DPS over the long term) and all I really want to do is stay in a fight as long as possible. So, given that you're in a fight with Onyxia, and you plan to be fighting for upwards of 20 minutes, would this robe still trump Magister's or, more to the point, Mooncloth Robe, since Onyxia has that nice AOE blast, and having stam is a plus. The extra mana every five minutes would be alright, I suppose, and almost necessary for a sustained fight like that, but is it prudent to completely disavow stam on your equipment in favor of this?

Edit: It really is a sweet looking robe, though.

I think +35 to damage and healing is huge (since you will most likely be stacking every other piece of equipment with +damage items).
+12int is nice. The mana restoration aint bad. Put them all on one piece of equipment and its an epic piece.

Nice robe, glad we got it. And yes, it is mage only. Regardless that it adds +healing, as the post a couple above states, it is a generic buff. Not specific to that robe.

夜空护甲 these crappy robes. First off, thats +8stam which would keep alive way more than those stupid robes of an archmage, plus the graphicz of those robes suck! Also the +40 damage, even though it may be the highest in the game,is overrated, not to mention that 1%crit is completely useless i mean say you roll a die 100 times, thats only 1 time that you would crit with the die. ALSO the robes of uberness i linked have +8 spirit which is enough to gain about 4 more mana a minute, thats like 80 more mana in a long fight! OMG

Didn't really have much trouble getting this.
I had just read about the robe on thottbot after I saw a mage on my server wearing it, and decided to give it a go. Went to LBRS with a random group, asked if we could kill the pyromancers, downed them, and yay there's the pattern. For some odd reason all of them passed(no ninjas, wtf!), I got the pattern and farmed two-three days and had the robe. Bought the earth essences off AH for approx. 4-5g each, farmed air in silithus and water in felwood, and finally got the 10 essences of fire from the guildbank. Not too much work for the robe with the most +dmg ingame imo. And to clear some of the speculations going on, yes the pattern drops from pyromancer's, and no the pattern is not BOP, it's perfectly ninjable, and I've seen it twice on the AH.

ok all mages who are searching for the pattern to this robe - and CANT find it: DONT DESPAIR!

1.: the pattern only frops from 3 mobs in the game: Pyromancers in LBRS!
But u dont have to make a raid and walk all the way through mobs...there is a shortcut in LBRS which lowers the pattern farming SUBSTANTIALLY: just after getting into the big room (after you killed the first worg master) you jump down on a "ledge" to the right and right down to the Firebrand legion. From there, it ill take you only ½-1 hour to get to the pyromancers.
I did LBRS 6 times before tho pattern dropped - and DOES drop :)

RUMOR1: you DONT have to be tailor 300

RUMOR2: you DONT have to be mage to make it drop (get your team to pass the pattern if they are kind to ye :))

RUMOR3: you DONT have to be in a party if u want to...you can also do it in raid if u want to - patern drops aswell.

However, for those non-tailor frost mages out there don't worry too much. Freezing Lich Robes for frost mages drops from Ras in Scholo. Robe of Winter Night is an easy to make robe. Both have comparable stats to the Robe of the Archmage and are significantly easier to aquire.

This robe is great, i cant do raids becuase im in the middle east and the internet isnt great and the robe is a great alternative to non-raiders.
Id say its the best robe u can get after netherwind and ofc the new AQ imba chests.

The robes are BoP but the recipe isn't. These robes are amazing early on and it will take some time before they get replaced. One of the reasons to go with tailoring alongside the Bloodvine set bonus.

Of course I am the biggest and stupidiest idiot on Azeroth.

I purchased the pattern. I farmed the mats for hours.

I tailored the robe. I enchanted it with +3 stats

And... Then I tried to send it to my mage alt...

Fail!

Somehow, I failed to notice it was BOP.

I don't know whether to cry or quit.

In the 16 years I've been playing WOW, this has to be the worse mistake I've ever made.
