Can't believe all the n00bs on here blasting this wep, saying it doesnt proc that often....well DUH thats cuz the proc is absolutely devestating...6 second silence...kills everyone from warlocks to shammies to pallys...if a rogue gets this to proc on a mage or priest...they are basically guaranteed to win...sooo if the proc rate was as high as Thrash Blade...it would throw PVP balance way off and the wep would end up getting nerfed anyways.

Oh yeah and BTW, this is one of the weapons of choice to bring into high end raid zones...(onyxia, Molten Core) because unlike most other stun/silence effects...the high end bosses ARE NOT immune to the proc of this weapon...silencing a mob like Golemag or Magnamar is priceless

This sword would be much better if it wasnt main hand, its good but the dmg sucks for main hand, ss crits with this wont even compare to even a thrashblade much less dal'rends, i woudl love to use this on my off hand just not on my main... sad such a good weapon wasted

Would be uber for off hand but it aint :( but SS whit this one does less dmg then a shanker,would never use it as i am combat sword spec roug
And about the silance why would a roug need it,we kill casters fast anyway,can interupt spell casting whit kick(can give silance if u realy want it),gauge and kidny shot,only thing it would be good for to prevent instan casts spell,but caster would alredy be dead when this thing proc

I'm a prot pally (I.E.: tank specced.) and this would be a SWEET weapon. Nice and fast, so I can boost it to about 1.10 attack speed w/ seal of the crusader, so I get extra bonus from my damage per hit adds (fiery plate gauntlets, sharpening stone, enchant, etc...) as well as my judgements; light & Wis, specifically.

To the above poster the idea was nice but as this weapon is main hand only a rogue can't dual wield it :P

I use this wep to tank pretty often and sometimes the debuff slot replacement is a problem but for the most part it's a huge help.

Shame the skin isn't as cool as it could have been. I like the straighter katanas personally

And now i tell you my experiences of it:

I don't have any better weapon to my main hand, (i'm a fury war) so i use this for both DW and tanking. Got it on my 1st or 2nd (something like that) scholo run. Haven't seen it since.

The proc is not a wonder if it happens. However i haven't calculated the proc rate. It happens quite often, and i've got a feeling that it happens a bit more regularly than it used to. (buffed at the last patch? i can't really say because i got it like only 2 weeks before the patch).

In short: nice weapon, that has a nice proc. Fast speed doesn't suit for rogues but for fury wars it's almost one and samw what speed your weapon has (fast weapon actually lowers the rage consumed by heroic strike :)) and for tanking it is ok. My personal opinion is that a good tanking weapon helps, BUT it is not so important thing.

I have found this weap almost indespensable in any of the pugable instances. It stops flametogues from doing that raid-wiping aoe, it silences the banshee deals b4 they can silence your healer, and it even proc's on Thekal's lackeys, keeping them from casting heals. In duels, I DW it with BSH on casters. . . takes the average mage about 20 seconds to figure out wth just happened to them when it proc's, which it might not for some whole duels. . . but as a lousey warrior, winning a few duels against mages is a nice morale booster. Anyhoo, it proc's often enough to be useful in instances, and the speed results in always having enough rage to spend holding agro. Iceblade is nice, but this is better, and I've used both.

I'm a paladin using this weapon and it's so good for regen - with it being so quick if you're in need of mana with judge/seal of wisdom you're restoring ~120 mana every 1.6 sec :D

great for staying alive which personally, is what i want out of my 1H + sheild :D

Picked this up a couple weeks back and wasn't even sure I wanted to keep it. But I added fiery and it's my main 1h now. Great for pallies with all our on-hit seal procs.

ok i went into Scholo having my mind set on this dropping and winning it. Our group probably had the worst warrior in the world, she didn't ever use sunder armor, and everybody was pulling aggro except her, in fact i was the MT the whole time (keep in mind i'm a rogue) she also had nothing on her that was in the 50's range. She's a 60 and still using Aegis of the Stormwind Commander and Phantom Blade...So on every boss we pretty much wipe the first time. We had to go out of the instance and repair TWICE before we got to Gandling. So 3 hours later we get to Ras and down him our first try by some miracle. Ras drops a lvl 57 1h mace and a lvl 57 1h axe. The warrior needs both of them and wins. She still keeps the freaking phantom blade out and does nothing with the new weapons. 2 hours after Ras we finally get to Gandling. We finally beat him after 4 tries. He dropped the Devout Crown and the Silent Fang. I instantlly hit need, a minute later the stupid warrior hits need. I roll a 2 she rolls a 43, SHE WINS HER THIRD FREAKING WEAPON IN ONE RUN! So it cost me around 12g for a 5 hour Scholo run to get totally ripped off and pissed off. She still doesn't use the 3 weapons that she won.

Actualy it procs just fine,you might not trying that sword on right mobs-wich preferably should be casters.
With this proc+improved shield bash and u can alone take zg mini bosses that needs to be stunlocked all time

Silent fang in a hand of a prot. warrior=no casting mobs around

I just got this the other day. I didn't notice it proc much but I wasn't sure what to look for at first.

Yesterday, I was grinding on Ironwood Stompers & Withered Protectors in Felwood. I got about 40 of them in 45 minutes and this bladed proc'd at least one in all but 3 encounters. In several, it proc'd twice. Granted, it didn't matter since they're not casters, but the proc rate was still excellent.

I was using an Assassination Blade and doing tons of sinister strike attacks before this. Now, I'm using this blade and doing slice & dice a ton. Adding poison to the blade works great too because it's so fast, especially in a S&D; attack, when it strikes every 1.1 seconds or so. My off hand weapon is a Heartseeker - both are fiery, and the fiery proc's go through the roof sometimes, especially in S&D; mode. Sounds like the 4th of July sometimes.

This is especially nice against casters, as noted above, but it's also a good blade in general if you like S&D; attacks. We ran UD Strat & BRD the other night and I couldn't pull agro off our tank even if I tried. That doesn't mean I didn't do a ton of damage 'cause I was the leading damage-giver when we looked at the stats later. My attack profile resulted in loads of smaller cuts & poison hits. The MOB didn't seem to notice even while I was literally holding a poisoned blender to their backsides:)

I am currently in a fairly successful 2v2 arena team with a lock (I'm a healadin) - however, we have a class pairing that we consistenly lose to (in fact, they're the only pair we lose to) - that is, everyone's favourite, the MS warr and healadin.

So, I'm considering getting this to help turn the tide in our favour. Lock starts wailing on the warr while I go and say hi to the pally - activate Seal of Justice for extra spell interrupting, and proceed to Stun, then Arcane torrent, and hope this procs during the 2. The goal of this method is not to kill the pally through disabiling their healing, but to force them to Divine Shield, and thus turning them into any standard healer. After this, we'd either try to quickly burn down the warr if they are quite low on health, or turn our attention to the now DSless pally.

So, with this plan in mind, I have 2 questions that I would love to have answered. ^^

Firstly, is anyone able to confirm if the silence effect can be bubbled out of? As in, if a pally has this effect proc'd on them, are they able to bubble to remove it?

Secondly, can anyone confirm what sort of proc rate it has for level SEVENTY opponents? I'm hoping for something along 5%, so that while it won't proc every fight, there is a decent chance it will.

Also, if anyone has any other ideas for a similar sort of setup to the strategy above (I was originally considering using a Dark Iron Pulveriser; however I heard that the proc rate on this is despairingly low . When I've run enough heroics to get the 12 nethers, I will probably be doing said plan with my Deep Thunder).

This weapon will proc on Zealot Lor'Khan in ZG, making this guy a push over to OT. Without lightning shield and heals, this guy is alot easier to maintain.

Its not bad at all... its the best i can get untill i find myself in ZG looking for bloodlord's defender, and as im saving up for a foror's book.
The silence proc occurs once in a while.. nothing to make it amazing (its only a blue) but good enough to do something once in a while. In Scholo and Strat where everything and their moms are casting it can help alot!

After patch 1.7 I think it was, maybe 1.6, it doesn't really matter that it has such low damage on it for a rogue because all the damages for our combat abilities are preset no matter what weapon we have ( which pissed off a ton of ambush rogues who spent days doing stealth runs on Plugger to get the Barman Shanker). So now we could use in BG to piss off casters, especially mages and not worry about losing damage on our SS's and evis's.

This weapon seems to proc very often, and destroys casters in PvP. When a warrior has to take down a caster, this should be in his hand.

I have this one on my rogue. Good for most of the part of Scholo but you might wana pick different Main Hand for room with Summoners since this sword's silence proc on summoners will make em run arround and wipe your party easily. For everything else, it kicks ass. Specially if you are a sword rogue. Man casters hate my ass in BGs :).

I have this sword on my Warrior and its amazing. Procs a ton and seems to cause alot of added hate. The speed is nice for building rage as well. I'll be using this till i can pickup a BL defender from ZG.

It's really sad that this is main hand only. Terrible in fact. The lack of high damage makes it less attractive for us rogues.

Just ended a Scholo run with my guild. Got some ok loot. I got only this. Wasnt really excited at start but then though this might be excellent for tanking purpose.

Does anyone know if bosses are immune to this weapons proc? Can this proc land against the bosses in Scholomance and Stratholme? Or is it purely usefull against the trash mobs?

Killed about 10 caster mobs after getting it and it silenced the mob in about 2-3 fights. Rest didnt last enough for the wep to proc.

I tried this with a shield and soloing -- I do more damage with this than with any of my dual wielding combos or two hander weapons -- including using this dual wield!

I'm getting crusader.

this is a ownage fury warrior wep. i fricken get 3000 crits from fire mages. every time i mean OMG it procs like 1 in 3.......................................................... stop em form healin and casting.. alotugh its a bit weak for MH, great taknig wep and very fast. so i dont need big crits, for fury this baby fills my rage meter in 5secs.

Haveing 1.6 spd and 40.6 dps in itself makes this a very good tanking weapon. The proc i cannot comment on since i havent thaught about it that much but i guess it may be true as stated in the posts below... Being a Dual wielding sword specd fury warrior i have 0 in protection spec, so if you are in the same situation as me and havent been able to lay your hands on any higher end tanking weaps, I highly recomend this sword for use with shield even in PvE. Just yesterday i tanked 3 of Garr's adds in Molten Core with this i didnt loose agro to my priests horror=)hahaha "BOOM" Flurry and Enrage FTW

I don't know. Maybe I'm a crappy rogue. I do have a weird talent build with 33 in combat alone, I think. The rest is in assassination. Anyway, I have this in mh, and I really like it. As a combat rogue in pvp I could never really do a lot of burst dmg against the casters and I don't stunlock.So I usually ended up getting nova'd, sheep'd, then raped by mage burst dmg before I can cover the ground back into range. Anyway, I use this now and it's just plain awesome. Does more dps with combat build than my barman, and with 1.4 bonescraper in off, I do really good dmg. With the added silence which procs really often, got 5 in one duel alone, I have time to ss/evis my opponent before they go all crazy with their cooldowns. I really recommend it for rogues. Again, I am probably just a terrible rogue that is squishy to casters too, but it's a good weapon in either case.

I'm a paladin, so as soon as I got this sword, only one thing was on my mind "PVP CASTERS!"

So the first thing I did after getting it, was enchant lifestealing, and headed into AB .... first mage i see, which is a Warlord, i judge on Seal of light, then Sealed the Crusader, which brought the speed to 1.1 seconds ....

OUTLANDISH...... i silenced him more than 4 times, and due to the Judgment of Light AND the lifestealing enchant, i was getting healed like crazy ..... 1 sec weapon ... :)

If you're a Paladin, get this, you'll be your server's Horde Nightmare :)

Kombo in hunter whit talant bilding stats for PvP actions is perfect for fight vs casters as well to rogue, but lower dmg of corse is not atractive.

this is great for the MT in strat and scholo... i am not sure about others cause i have been trying so hard to get valor boots and leggings no drop though and i havent seen this drop yet either

This, like many proc weapons of Vanilla, doesn't appear to have an ICD or very restricted proc. Great for PvE, but I wouldn't try to rely on it PvP. It can chain proc, though.
