200 more AC than the rare set legs = take 1% less damage from hits

So overall 3+ % damage reduction from 1 item...

Are there any better legs for tanking damage reduction in the game?

If you want +8 stamina you can use a Libram of Voracity.

Or you could just get a Libram of Constitution for the +100 health. Which is pretty much +10 stamina. Which is better.

good pants imo but enchanted thorium leggings give a better balance of good defense and good stamina..and correct me if im wrong but if you have all defense and no stamina dont you get assraped by spells?

Brilliant, absolutly brilliant. You compare tanking ability when fighting solo xp mobs. Seriously, this is the most brilliant thing I've ever seen.

You took an average of 997 damage per fight (all 26 fights). WTF were you fighting, level 55 mobs? If you're fighting something that low then you really aren't going to see the benifits of +def gear. Fighting lowbie mobs like this you'll see a much better benifit from +1% crit, ie mob dies before it can do as much damage. Try this same test but fight a MC boss, you'll see +15 def is much better than a measly 100 or so armor

Armor works by adding a flat increase to your melee life expectancy. If 500 armor makes you live 2 seconds longer, it'll be exactly two seconds whether it's from 0-500, or 9000-9500.

Armor scales with the amount of HPs you have. Therefore it is an important tanking stat, as it multiplies the effectiveness of healing. Against level 60's, every 5500 HPs will give 1 armor the effectiveness of 1HP. If a tank gets melee pounded (and healed) for 22000HPs, then every point of armor gave 4 HP. Against a boss where a tank might get 55000HPs worth of melee damage, every point of armor was worth 10HP.

First post - Where is this chest?

Not one post since then saying where in BRD this chest is found. Thottbot is used to find information on items and not babble on about what is better than what and how they look. Let us all make up our own minds about that so help us find the bloody leggings and have your discussions on the forums.

These are found in Blackrock Depths. After you pass thru the bar and before you enter lyceum there are the 7 ghost dwarfs. After you kill them all a chest appears (chest of the seven). Legplates are 1 of the items you can get from chest. Chest gives 2 blues per run.

The first time i got to the chest the plate legs dropped. I was very happy 'cause i was gathering a tank gear. The other drop was the mail chest which gives 2% crit chance. The chest is also good for warriors in pvp so its a question of who will get it. I said to the shaman that he could have the chest. He says : really? are u sure? yeah take it i said. Then he loots and picks up the @#$%ing legs!
Then he said it was a big missunderstanding! he thought he could have the legs! :S

Well my whole party was laughing its ass off and i was pretty pissed at the moment. The mage later told that he had farmed for the legs with his main 30 times and no drop...

My warr got 420 def, lvl 84? :D No one crits me in duel, and mobs in MC rarely crit me either.

ive been to the chest three times. twice a tank opened it and the legs were there. other time a rogue opened and dagger was there. does it seem to match to the class opening it? i got the legs the second time a tank (me) opened it.

i got it when in a BRD raid it was in the chest and i won the roll the other one that rolled was a warrior

Lack of stamina make these not as good as Warmaster Legguards for tanking.

i soloed BRD with a lvl 54 pally and got them.
good defense and good-looking =D

Got these last night along with Hurley's Tankard and Force of Will. ROlled against a paladin... he got 85 ... i got ... 100! lol... he just about cr@pped himself.LoL. Awesome tank gear --> second pallie. Without any stats why would this go to a Pally? And if a pally is tanking its cuz his gear is way better then the tank's so tank should get it.

Lvl 60 Warrior ... Maelstrom.

...will never be as good as warrior tanking. Pallies heal and cleanse and buff, that's it. +Defense is a warrior stat only. Unless it's on leather, then it's for Ferals.
