Why exactly do you need macros? Binding certain abilities/actions together will allow you to use fewer buttons or be able to perform important actions faster. You can also use
mouseover
macros to cast a spell on certain units without having to target them first.
Recommended $spec Shaman Macros
Macros are simple, in-game tools which allow you to sequence spells together, create custom names and icons, cast different abilities depending on whether the target is friendly or hostile, define targeting conditions, and much, much more.

Using #showtooltip
When you create a macro, the standard tooltip will default to whatever you name your macro. For instance, if you set up a macro to stop casting and instantly cast

on the target, it will just say
Interrupt
or whatever you named it as. However, if you use #showtooltip Earth Shock at the start of the macro, instead, mousing over your macro will display

's tooltip.
Healing Macros
Mouseover healing macro
#showtooltip Chain Heal
/cast Chain Heal
You can bind most of your healing spells to a simple
mouseover
macro without too much trouble. This helps when you need to cast a particular ability but don't want physically to target the unit. Due to

it will only cast the spell if the target is friendly and alive.

One-button Buffing

Since you should aim to have these two buffs on you at all times, it can be useful to condense their application into a single button. Press twice for

Stopcasting Macro

In order to successfully interrupt an enemy, you need to land

while they are casting. Since you are probably casting yourself when the timing is right, adding

to your macro will automatically stop anything spells are casting at the moment to cast the interrupt instantly. This can easily be applied to other spells/macros, but be careful of accidentally stopping your casts when you don't want to.
DPS Macros

Using spells, such as

, doesn't automatically start your auto-attacks in WoW Classic. This macro will allow you to use it and automatically start auto-attacking, without requiring a right-click on the enemy or a separate button.
Gear-swapping macros

/equip Shield of Condemnation
This sort of macro is meant to allow you to easily swap between different sets of weapons / off-hands in combat. This is especially relevant for PvP Shamans, who are likely to be swapping between DPSing and Healing as required, and thus you should swap between DPS gear and Healing gear for maximum effectiveness.
Spell-swapping macros
#showtooltip
/cast Lesser Healing Wave;
Lightning Bolt
These sorts of macros give you two spells in one button. The idea is straightforward: If your mouseover target with this macro button is friendly, you'll cast a heal on them — in this case

. If your target is hostile, however, you'll cast a damage spell (

) instead. If you're trying to take a minimalist approach to your action bars, this can be useful, as it saves you one button.
