I have the same pirate buff also.

Even turned my bloodsail bucaneers reputation "at war" (i'm honored due to The Insane") i still see the pirates green and unatackables... i need someone "hated" with them to be in party with me to kill them for me...

Currently, if your reputation with Bloodsail Buccaneers is Friendly or better those NPCs cannot be directly attacked even if you set yourself to be "At War" with them.

There are two ways I found that will let you get around this.

First, you can group with someone else and let them kill them for you. You will still get credit for the "Slay X" quests and be able to loot them for quest drops. Note that you will still take the reputation loss for the NPCs killed even though you did not help kill them.

Second, you can use an AoE ability to kill them and they will still take damage even though you cannot directly attack them.

There's an elemental type mob (looks more like a mechanical, but it goes as elemental) at the steering wheel of one of the Bloodsail ships off the eastern coast. His/her/its name is Brutus and killing him/her/it did not make me lose any Bloodsail rep. Also according to the wowhead comments on the pre-shattering version of this quest he used to have a 100% or at least very high drop rate for the eye. After one kill I cannot tell if it's still that high but he did drop the eye for me immediately (after I lost like 200 Bloodsail rep for killing pirates without getting the quest item, sigh. So if you want to do those quests and keep the Bloodsail rep damage as low as possible go straight for Brutus.)

You can do this another way, if you are friendly you will get the quest The Bane of Many A Pirate DO NOT COMPLETE THIS QUEST, just collect the crates, and kill and search the mobs that will attack you. You might need to abandon the The Bane of Many A Pirate quest about 3 or 4 times, but you will get Dizzy's Eye. I just did this with four toons, and it works.

My reputaion says i'm hated but i can't attack to get the eye as they come up as friendly targets... any ideas anyone?

When I received the quest Doublerum, I was finally able to kill Bloodsail Sea Dogs once again. It takes a bit to get to this quest, but just keep doing the pirate chain. After you finish the ones on your ship, you should get Doublerum from Revilgaz and you can go after Brutus (who gave me the eye immediately).

I would like to confirm. that you can do this quest, even when Bloodsail Buccaneers. are friendly to you.

just make a party with someone who can kill Bloodsail Buccaneers, and go with him directly on the 3th ship behind booty bay. Your party colegue has to kill Brutus. He is big and standing on upper deck and holding steering wheel.

Your party coleguge is killing Brutus, and you just taking an Dizzy's Eye from the body, and that's it!

If you can't do this quest because you are friendly, make sure you cleaned the quest in the boats at the South East, and after that you will able to do it.

Description

Avast! Who goes there?

Argh, I am but useless without me special enchanted eye. Bad enough to have lost me eyes in battle in the first place! But by some stroke o' luck we docked in Menethil and a traveling wizard enchanted a special glass eye that let me see again.

Last night I ended up gettin' jumped by some Bloodsail Buccaneers on me way out. Took me eye, they did! Seems those blokes have found their way to Booty Bay.

Help an old sea dog out by gettin' me eye back?
