Right now, if you drop the quest, you are not offered the quest again. So don't screw up. :) And the softknuckles are the baby gorillas. Very cute. :) Located SE across the road of Frenzyheart hill.

Yet another edit: If you still have the item Goregek's Shackles, you can get your little quest giver/helper back.

And Lovett is wrong. It is indeed SE of Frenzyheart hill. How you'd get NE is anyone's guess. :) 66.73 is south east of Frenzyheart.

Anyway, pokin' the little fellas is kinda funny to watch.

You can pick up the quest again even if you abandon. Talk with Elder Harkek at Frenzyheart Hill and he will give you the quest item to summon Goregek again, once summoned Goregek will give you the Tormenting the Softknuckles quest again. Enjoy! :)

Goregek the Gorilla Hunter, your companion through two of these quests, is a creature that is delightfully sadistic, dimwitted, aggressive, generally angry and just plain stupid. He makes for an excellent "friend." It is unwise however to expect him to be overly useful in his knowledge. His "tips" to you are usually just excuses to dole out verbal abuse. His chosen nomenclature to you for example is "Slave-thing."

As far as his actual combat prowess goes, he is a decent tank; in other words, a meat-head who would get lost trying find his way out of a paper bag. He would, however, be able to take a few whacks from a rusty shovel wielded from the outside by whoever shoved him into said bag to begin with. All you have to do is just give him a few seconds to get aggro on his target. To that end, he has an aura that heals HIM whenever YOU do damage. Unfortunately, the mobs on this quest, really in this zone in general are quite easy to plow through without him tanking, so most will probably just have him along for a few extra slights on their appearance, a little extra DPS from and his sunder armor; few will use his full capabilities.

Once you choose a side (Oracle or Frenzyheart) you can make him a permanent companion, so he may be the choice for anyone attempting to solo some kind of elite.

All the above imformation is correct...

To get the matriarch to come out poke 3 softknucles so that they are all running around at the same time.. The matriarch will scream and than come out to attack you.

If someone near the quest giver is flagged for pvp, it will bug and make your pet come out pvp then attack the flagged person near you, then the guards kill him then kill you. Annoying and people are using that tactic to grief others

You will get a companion for this quest. He hits very pansy but he is very co.cky ^^ I as a combat rogue "Tricks of trade"ed him, doing that i avoided any almost all damage from the both quests and you dont have to worry about your "pet" he have a buff that makes it possible for you to heal him with your damage and he get full hp when you leave combat :D I understand the comment " You sould help me next time..." :P

If you come back to the softknuckle area with Dajik the Wasp Hunter, he says, "If you here to poke more softknuckles, Dajik going to poke you too. That a bad Goregek habit."

Simple quest.

1. Go to 66 | 73. There are many little gorillas named "Softknuckle".
2. Use the provided item on them. You have to use it on 2 or 3 softknuckle to summon the Hardknuckle Matriarch.
3. When Hardknuckle Matriarch comes kill him.

If u cant continue the quest line (u probably have made previous quest without Goregek), just ask someone to summon Goregek, and u be able to take this quest.

Kind of messed up torturing infant gorillas.

I was hoping "conscientious objector" characters would be able to skip this quest (and the following ones) and still get the quest achievement for Sholazar Basin (for instance, this is possible with another morally questionable quest, The Art of Persuasion in Borean Tundra). Sadly, there are 81 non-daily Alliance Sholazar Basin quests, and you need 75 of them for the achievement, so this quest blocking over 20 quests down the line makes it impossible. Booo.

hello, im looking for GOOD answers, i had the Q, suddenly a lame alliance hunter came and ganked me , i was looking around how to get that little companion to life again, so i decided to abandon and just take it again... i think many ppls looking for same answer as me here, how can i do to get that Q bk? some ppls says , bla bla bla just talk to that guy, other says, kill few softknuckles, ok, i have tried it out, pls come with some serious replies for this comment ok :O i could rly need som help.

You can drop the quest and get it back IF you still have the shackles in your inventory. They will summong Goregek, who gives you this quest.

Oops, I abandoned this quest and lost the bracers. Now what do I do?

If you want to pick up the quest again and have accidentally gotten rid of the bracers to re-summon Goregek, the quest notes that the Elder Harkek will give you those bracers again. The Elder is back in the wolvar village, Frenzyheart Hill. HTH.

The quest is even more easy with the following macro:

/tar Softknuckle
/use Softknuckle Poker
/cleartarget

Just get close to a group of Softknuckles, use the macro, wait till the cooldown is off and use it again.

Don't forget you must summon Goregek (with the Shackles in your inventory) before you are able to call the Matriarch.

Also, in case you ever fail or abandon this quest, look in your inventory for an item called Goregek's Shackles. You'll be able to summon the questgiver.

I begin hitting the baby monkeys at the palms.
That didn't work.
I only had to scare one ape near the giant tree, before the mother came out.
So dont go around hitting on the monkeys at the palms thinking there is a bug -.-

summon goregek (in your bag) then poke the baby monkeys with the stick (in your bag) then wait for the big red mumma gorilla to come bounding your way and kill her....easy peazy :)

If you're like me and got stuck on this in classic WOTLK, if Goregek doesn't appear and you don't have the bracers and/or lost your bracers to call Goregek out -- talk to Elder Harkek that's around the campfire in the Frenzyheart encampment. He will give you a replacement of bracers and you'll be able to call Goregek out and accept your quest.

This quest was showing on the map but there saw no quest giver to be found. Spoke to Elder Harkek and he gives you an item and Goregek appears and has the quest.

Tormenting the Softknuckles

Goregek has given you a Softknuckle Poker for use on Softknuckles to draw the Hardknuckle Matriarch out of hiding. Slay the Hardknuckle Matriarch and report her death to High-Shaman Rajak at Frenzyheart Hill.

If you lose Goregek's Shackles, speak to Elder Harkek in Frenzyheart Hill.

Rakjak not know yet, but Goregek has eye on big bad hardknuckle mama. We go to Hardknuckle Clearing to east and poke softknuckles with poker and she sure to come yelling!
