If the cat disappears for you like it did for me, you can just head to the cave around 77,68 for credit.

When the big cat appears follow it for a few seconds, when it disappears just follow the trail of smoke flares on the floor and you'll find the Lair.

You really don't have to follow Mauti. It will despawn after a short while. After that you can get on your flying mount and follow the markers. Once you reach the end you have to face Mauti.

OK HELP! I completely screwed up and decided to abandon this quest figuring I could follow better on my mount. Now I can not find Mauti anywhere! I submitted a ticket and am looking at a 5 day wait. Any suggestions?

Easiest to find from the southern most part of the map, near the circle type water area. It is north of that.

If you can't complete the quest or don't see the cat/bembwa. Simply relog, it will place you into the right phasing again.

I have just completed this quest in 4.3, tried to tame the fake mauti not tameable and then when i got to the lair it wasnt tameable either. wondering whether it was because it was part of a quest chain that i was involvde with. I'm gonna camp and wait for it to respawn... I did that it still tells me that the creature is untameable...

EDIT: I logged out, then logged back in, and the smoke flares appeared and I was able to follow them that way. Maybe it was a glitch that didn't let the smoke flares spawn before. For those without coord addons, the lair is at southeastern almost triangle-shaped lake of Northern Stranglethorn. I posted a screenshot for visual reference. Hope this helps someone!

Hopefully someone still reads this page. HALP! I followed the real Mauti after he took the dwarf, he went past the mound of dirt, pounced up on a higher part of the hill he was on, then despawned. There was never any smoke flare. I flew around and around, all around the highlighted area that the map shows, but nothing. Should I just abandon this quest and restart it? I put in a ticket, but 3 days have gone by and no answer from Blizz support yet. It seems they might not keep up on Classic tickets like they do Retail.
