If any of the dwarves die, you can't get them back, and you lose all their control buttons.

Nyxondra fears you into the whelps so you really want to clear the area before you try taking her on. If you can't get her down fast enough before the whelps respawn then you may want to try lodging yourself at the foot of that hill on the northern end to the right of the broken building.

Should you get feared then in this spot, assuming you cleared the two or so whelps that were down there, should keep you nice and safe from the hordes of other whelps.

Whoever designed a quest with the most unfriendly terrain, a billion respawning caster whelps, and elite dragon that fears every minute, and a potion on a 2 minute cool-down is nothing more than a masochist. >_<

save your interrupts for the fear, use the kidney shot from the rogue to interrupt the fears too.

Perhaps I am wrong, but this quest's name reminded me a lot of Metal Gear Solid 3, The Sorrow and The Fury are two bosses you encounter in the game ^^

I found this an incredibly annoying and difficult quest. It didn't help that when I died, it took me forever to navigate around the hills to get back to the area. I agree that some of these things are designed by masochists!

OK, like mentioned above. This is a someone easy fight if you use the NPCs and fight your back to the back through the little dragons. In the back hear the fallen horde tower, look for the small/tiny looking evergreen tree. Fight there. When you get feared you won't run near the smaller dragons.

yeah i died the first time getting feared into the whelps but if you clear an area in the back so you won't get feared into them, it'll be fairly easy. completed this on 2nd attempt, 47 rogue

Well, after looking on here and trying various methods of dieing, I'd just like to put my 2 cents worth in and maybe help somebody to NOT die as many times as I did.

I'm a level 49 mage and, even with the three orcs as meatshields it's still a pain to do this quest.

The above suggestion of using the ledge above/behind the ruined orc tower is spot on. The only thing I'd like to add is that you should clear the three lower ledges of broodlings, left, right, and center. The reason for this is that, contrary to a statement above, you can be feared off onto one of these lower ledges if you miss an interrupt. Also, after killing the broodlings on these ledges, do not loot the bodies.....I've found that it delays respawn if you leave them unlooted.

Then draw the dragon down and go to town on her. I experimented with various ways of managing doing damage and interrupting her fear and found that if I let the orcs do most of the damage, with me interjecting the odd damaging spell and concentrating mainly on using the orc's kidney shot and my counterspell ability to negate the dragon's fears, that worked best. I kept my damaging spells to the instant cast variety so as not to tie up interrupts with a long count spellcast.

Found that clearing alone didn't help as the whelps respawned way to fast. Only safe way I found was to focus on interrupting the aoe fear, and letting the orcs deal most of the damage.

Clear and pull it back to arround 13,36.. There you won't get feared into whelps and you can easily beat it :)

I'm a level 49 BM hunter and this was ridiculous. The minute they were feared, if they ran into a broodling they would fight with it instead of her and thus you lost control over them (if you press an attack button it applies to whatever they're fighting, not what you have selected).

The only way I managed to complete the quest was by dropping down from the top of New Kargath, clearing a little area there, then being fortunate enough that when she feared me I ran back up the path (and she broke my power over the NPCs, meaning I could call my pet again)

It is worth it though ~ even after dying 5 times. Two quests after this and you get to see Deathwing ^^

I am level 46 hunter and I had died twice and dropped the quest and yet the group still followed me around. I was running around the area leveling my skinning with their help when we ran across her in a basically empty area, it was easy to take her down however I had already dropped the quest which really sucked and I can't even get the quest back now that I know how to do it.

However, I hearthstone'd back to undercity and though two of the gang disappeared Bad Dog is still following me around. Everywhere I go he follows and it says Bad Dog: Suuckamedrya's Guardian over his head same as a pet basically. Is this a bug or is that supposed to happen?

I made an account just to rant. If you are a class that is pet reliant (hunter, demo lock) then you are gonna have a hard time, as the game doesn't allow you to use it.

If I could have one wish, it would be to punch the guy that designed this quest in the face.

honestly, they could have had a flat terrain for this quest as it would have been easier to run back to once you have died... only way of really having any chance of killing her under lvl 50 is to group up with others doing it...

I was able to do this as a L47 rogue thru the helpful comments.

1. Clear the broodling all the way till the horde "house".
2. First tell your ranged dwarf to attack.
3. Command your tank to taunt the dragon.
4. Use any interrupts you have when she's casting her fear spell (the cast time for the fear spell is quite fast, so you better be hotkeying your interrupt)

Took me 3 tries, but with kidney shot and other interrupts as a rogue, I can see how it's easier for me than other classes.

Why it's annoying:

- %^&* terrain
- fast respawn times of broodlings
- if you die, you have walk quite far

on my 48 demo lock after dieing about 6 times finally figured out that if I did nothing but keep the orcs buttons pushed and I spammed "curse of tongues" she couldnt fear us like she was and took her down quickly. demo with no demon is just wrong :( but very doable if you are way in the back so no where to run when you are feared

If you are planing to quest in the Eastern Kingdoms a while,
make sure your hart stone is set in this region.

If you hart stone while on this quest, in this region, you get to keep the little guy helping you, and he fights by your side too :)

they may have fixed this but worth while a try if you are a clothy :)

As others have mentioned, this quest can be quite difficult. Nyxondra has quite a bit of health, and a fear ability. The terrain is extremely hilly, and there are Nyxondra's Broodling all over the place that will either respawn on you, or will start attacking when you're feared into them. If you die, you will have a long run as the south/west side of the area is too steep to climb, and so you'll have to loop around and enter from the east.

My first attempt I cleared a small area, and pulled Nyxondra, but the fears ended up in pulling a lot of adds and I wiped. The second time, I cleared the area around . It's is a ravine with only a few broodlings. I was able to pull Nyxondra with the mage's casted fireball (which doesn't seem to have a range limit), and was able to take her down with only losing the mage.

I read about the area where it's safe to do the quest, I did it here and it works. I also waited untill I was lvl 52, then it was easy. If you decide to wait untill higher lvl, don't abandon quest! You might not be able to get it again from the quest giver when over lvl 48?

I just ran this quest as a level 50 retribution paladin.

The group of mercenaries make this very, very easy.

As of this run, the mage's fireball has no range limit.

I aggro'd Nyxondra from (12.42) with the mage's fireball. It took two shots to get her to engage and fly up to our position. This is the tower area where you kill the elite mob from the previous quest.

From there it was just keeping the DPS up and using the mercenaries abilities. Fears weren't an issue, because there were no mobs to run into.

After that I cleaned up the broodling mobs for the quest, pulling then as I ran out of the area.

As others have said, the only way I was able to kill her was to go to the clearing behind the broken tower. I had trouble finding it at first, though, so here are coordinates for what worked well for me - go to approximately 8.3, 36.8 and aggro her. Then run back to 7.4, 35.2 and she'll follow. She feared me a number of times, but from this location I never ran off and into any whelps. Return to this location in the center of the clearing after every fear and you'll be fine!

Is this PoS quest still bugged? I opted to attack from the tower where the previous elite was seeing as that fireball doesn't have a range. However it works when it wants to. Sometimes it fires at the drake only to leave combat after a few seconds. When I go to retry the pull the spell doesn't work -.- Seriously going to strangle the guy that designed this with his own intestines if I ever find him

I completed this as a level 50 hunter, while this would have been easier had I had my pet and not three goons....

As everyone before has said, the path behind the Flight Master is amazing, hardly any whelps. After dying a few times on the opposite side, I swung back there to try it out and beat Nyxondra my first time at that spot.

Also I do stress to mainly let the orcs do the work, occasionally adding in some of your own spells. Then, when she turns on you use the one ability that makes her attack one of the orcs.

Not sure why everyone's complaining about this quest, I've done it twice as a rogue and a hunter.

I think it's because you have to use your brain. People are always asking for "teaching quests" well, here you have to control every member of a 5-man, simplified. Manage your tank, manage your one heal, manage the dps. Use interrupts, get your tank to taunt off you, maximize damage, don't run into adds.

After several levels of kill x of y, I find it kind of refreshing.

After my first attempt amongst the hoard of broodlings, I decided there had to be a better place to fight Nyxondra, and in a previous post it was mentioned.

In the preceding quest, you have to climb a winding ridge to reach a tower to kill a quest mob. Along this ridge, there is a bluff looking over all the broodlings, and you can see Nyxondra (the big dragon) circling over them. From here, the ranged NPC was able to shoot her and bring her away from all the broodlings. The fight was MUCH easier on the ramp, and the nearby dragonkin didn't respawn during the fights, unlike the whelps. And, when feared, if you cleared the ramp, there are no extra mobs to run into.

Although the fight took a while, I completed it fairly easily as a 47 cat druid on the second attempt. I remember doing this on my hunter by wedging myself in a crevice where I wouldn't aggro more mobs when feared. Pulling her was much easier, I think.

this was hard the first time. then iread here about the crevece near the house toward the far end. correct, the fear takes u near no welps, use the dwarves, i finished this the 2nd time i tried. its very possible, and easy. ya just need to have the right method. thnk God for this website. thnx to everyone for your advise, put it all together and ya get a solution ( maybe you guys should try that who says it cant be done)

fight your way through the trash and jump onto the building roof and the jum up the cliff face there is an area clear of trash where you can fight . At least here you only get feared and nothing else will attack you. I have submitted a screenshot cheers and have fun

I just thought id comment on this ridiculous quest!
This is way too hard and should be in the Burning Steppes not here at Badlands.
The reason i say this is because most people are too low a level by the time they get to do this, meaning you can easily die between 10-15 times trying like i did!
i was using a lvl 47 Rogue and the 3 guys with me was a complete waste of time, 1 swipe of my sword did more damage than them 3 put together!
And before someone thinks i couldn't do this because im new... ive already leveled a Druid and a Hunter.
When i recall, i did this quest with my druid ages ago... and i remember arriving and a guy sharing the quest with me..... at the time i thought nothing of it, now i know why!
For the record i climbed up the cliff behind the wrecked tower to a pretty flat place, and shot the dragon before going about the dirty deed. And as the dragon died i had NO health left, im sure 1 more hit and i would have died AGAIN!

Note to new players who are struggling...
type /who in chat and ask another player to share the quest.... between the 2 of you, it should be easy

Here are some tips for using the mercenaries:

When using them, my warlock pet went away. Not sure if this applies for hunters as well? You can't have them both out at the same time.
If you are a ranged attacker, they'll do their special attacks on command but they won't auto-attack unless you get near the enemy.
They disappear in certain areas... I think if you get too far from New Kargath or the quest area.
If they die in combat, they will not rez until you've finished fighting, but they'll come back with full health and mana.
If you mount up, they hop on motorcycles. (:

Just completed this as a (barely) lvl 47 balance druid. Followed the advice above on fighting from the ledge behind the hut/tower - having been feared into mobs and killed on my first attempt! This worked great. I found the dwarves helpful tho, in contrast to some of the comments above. The 'tank' kept the elite off me, so long as I remembered to keep hitting taunt, allowing me to hit her long distance. Like this, the fight took no time at all, and I got her on my second attempt - so great advice in this thread overall. I wouldn't ignore the contribution of the dwarves if you're a lowish level like me - make sure you're using their controls as well as your own attacks - would def say they were a help.

I completed this on a level 46 fury warrior after a number of 'learning' attempts. The tactic I used is as follows - hope it helps someone...

Pull position - as stated by others there is a hut with a kind of mound above it which makes a good place to fight her (on and behind the mound) since there are no whelps around to be feared into. If you're standing at the correct place your co-ordinates would be (8,36) and you'll be at the highest point in the area, kind of on the West hand side.

From there you want to pull the dragon down the slope behind you (away from the direction of the whelps) as she will fear you quite soon into the encounter. At the bottom of the slope (at co-ordinates 7,35) is a nice flat ledge. I found it best to use my own taunt to make the pull so I could kite her down the slope - then at the bottom use Gargol's taunt to aggro her onto him.

You have six "pet" abilities. I found I only really needed three of them, but there is plenty of time to use the others for additional damage/healing. The most useful ones are Gargol's taunt and shield (as he will be tanking this) and Amakkar's Kidney Shot. Jurrix's abilities don't seem to do an awful lot but hit them when you have spare time in between your own attacks.

She has two 'cast' abilities, the fear (Bellowing Roar) and a damaging attack (Flame Breath). Don't waste your interrupt on the flame breath, just make sure that Gargol has aggro at the time and step out of it. DO interrupt the roar - even though there are no whelps around here you will waste valuable DPS uptime and possibly be taking damage. She casts two roars in quick succession so you can use Amakkar's stun followed by your own interrupt if you have one. If you don't, I guess you will have to deal with occasional fears.

She will aggro onto you at various times - save Gargol's taunt until then (it works like a druid Growl or warrior Taunt, i.e. has no effect if he already has aggro) and follow it up with his Shield.

Think that's about all I can say. Pretty difficult quest but enjoyable if you don't let it frustrate you ;)

As this quest was clearly designed to annoy the average questing lowbie, I felt I had to share this in order to counter that lowly move. This is how you can complete it without too much effort at pretty much any class.

Drag her to somewhere between new Kargath and her original spawn place. You won't lose her very easily so there's no need to try kiting her, just hit her, run AWAY from the whelps and attack her a bit east of her spawn. The whelps respawn extremely fast and generally it's the whelps that make this quest annoying, not the elite. If you feel you need it, use the interrupt on her fear, though she will recast the fear immediately after anyway so it doesn't make much of a difference. You'll find that spamming the abilities of your little orc army helps alot, since the orcs won't be feared into the whelps if you do it this way.

Also, if you have any way to pull Nyxondria from a distance, I stongly advise you to do that, because if you start running immediately then, your helpers won't attack her until you actually start dpsing her.

Step One: Clear an area of whelps. Towards the edge of the whelp area and in a valley is best, so you don't suffer from respawns, losing sight of your dwarves/attacking whelps, or falling off cliffs.

Step Two: Hit all the viking abilities whenever they're up, ESPECIALLY taunt.

Step Three: Interrupt Bellowing Roar. Ignore the other abilities.

Step Four: ?

Step Five: Profit.
