Elder Nadox has almost no abilities so the tank just has to grab agro and hold it - however the hard part is the constant wave of bugs he summons. Throughout the fight a constant wave of small non-elite bugs will spawn which can be AoE down with easy, however periodically an elite Ahn'kahar Guardian will spawn and make all the non-elite bugs immune to damage. At this point all dps will need to shift to burning down the Ahn'kahar Guardian as soon as possible and then go back to killing the small bugs and the boss.

After clearing the occasional patrol of Ahn'kahar Swarmers, you are ready to engage Elder Nadox. Sometimes done as first boss, he is rather easy. All he does is:

Summon non-elite Ahn'kahet Swarmers, yelling something about how bad it is to keep them hungry. They will head towards the center of the room, sometimes ignoring your tank, if he is standing closer to the sides, so make sure you tank and DPS Nadox closer to the center. Those have only ~300-500 hp, regardless of what wowhead says.
Summon Ahn'kahar Guardian - raid warning will precede this elite Nerubian. They have around 25k HP, and must be killed as quickly as possible, because they make every other mob in the room immune to damage (like the Protection Totems in ZA), while the mobs are still able to attack. It helps to have the group spread around Nadox, so you have clear view of the whole room. Non-elite Swarmers may still spawn while the Guardian is alive.
Blood Plague is a DoT desease that will do 1250 Nature damage every 3 seconds. Cleanseable, but not too hard to heal through. Will cast only on the person with highest threat.

Pretty much tank and spank, as long as you pay attention to the Guardians and bring them down quickly.

EDIT: Heroic Elder Nadox
On heroic, Elder Nadox gains an extra ability (alongside with damage and hit points boost of course)

Blood Rage will buff a Swarmer, increasing its damage and hit points. Hardly noticable, as he doesn't spawn it - killing the Guardians should still be priority. Of course, the Guardians have their health pool increased as well.

When taking down this boss adds will pop up of of the eggs easy to kill but there will be a medium spider pop up and put a sheild around all spiders except himself u need tank to pull agro and dps him down then attc boss again

This boss is not that bad.... He has a Guardian that comes out that makes all the cratures immune to all attacks both physical and magical.It is a elite so if u have a hunter with you have him md the creature to the tank so he it does not go straight for the healer.Another thing there are little adds that pop up.Watch for that the healer will catch agro if u dont.

Nadox's signature ability in Heroic is Brood Rage, which grants a swarmer increased health and a damage boost. You'll want one DPS watching out for their spawns and killing them while they still have 250 health, and everybody helping to clear up the ones that get the buff while the Guardian is up.

This fight works much as mentioned above on heroic, He will summon swarmers with 250 health from the eggs around the room, they come 2 at a time (Tanking as a prot warrior is simple, they go down with 1 thunder clap). Every 3 or so swarmer...swarms, a guardian comes with 40k health, he dosent hit very hard, but he needs to be tanked for sure. Also, seemingly randomly and more frequently toward the end, he will spawn swarmers (with the same name as the 300 health ones) with 10k health that make every NPC immune to damage (and even worse, taunts). They need to be killed quickly so the other swarmers (who are becoming enraged) dont aggro onto other DPS or healers. Quite the frantic fight, we found it most efficient to tank him in the middle with the rest of the group semi-stacked on the tank so the add pickup was easier.

Just a sidenote I've found handy if you have a hunter in your group: have the hunter misdirect the Guardians to your tank, helps considerably especially when that Guardian mob spawns from the opposite side of the room where Nadox is tanked, as the tank simply doesn't have to move around this way.

found an awesome way to pull this boss (on heroic) if you have a lock that knows how to use his teleport!

1) clear ALL mobs up to the boss
2) have your dps stand at the very bottom of the ramp where you enter the instance
3) have you tank positioned at the top of that first set of stairs opposite the platform from your dps and heals
4) have your lock run in and set his teleport so when he fires on the boss he can port close to the stairs leading back towards the instance entrance
5) have lock pull when group is ready... port as soon as you pull, then run like hell back to the platform where your dps is standing
6) have tank pick up aggro when boss comes to his position and kite him to within reach of your dps and heals

now, the only adds you're going to get are the assassins (any aoe will take them down easy) and the guardians no longer make him immune ;) you dont even have to fight them this way... even with low dps you should have absolutely NO PROBLEM whatsoever taking him out this way, not to mention you get an achievement for it ;)

Note: this might work with a mage as well, but I've not seen it done... the lock port definitely gets him far enough away to keep from taking damage... when our group pulled this way, our lock took no damage whatsoever ;)

Pretty straight-forward fight once you understand the mechanics.

As has already been mentioned, the smaller spiders (the "swarmers") are easy kills. Just about any AE spell will kill them with one hit (Arcane Explosion in my case).

Once Elder Nadox summons the medium sized spider (the "Guardian"), everyone should focus on it. For my group, the rest of the mobs (Elder Nadox and any Swarmers that were still around) became immune as soon as the Guardian appeared. (You'll know they're immune by the pinkish-purple spell graphic that shows up on them).

Note: If you mouse-click to target your enemies, you'll need to be careful - if the "Guardian" gets next to Elder Nadox it can be difficult to target him. Your best bet is to tab through the enemies or /assist.

Another tactic that helps is to simply frost nova the Guardian as soon as he comes out. That way, everyone can easily see where he is and target him.

After a few wipes, my group figured for the tank to pull and walk him back to the beginning. We had our mage taking care of the guardians. Mage burned them down pretty fast. We figured we could do the same, but have the mage juggle the guardians and not kill them for the achievement next time.

As long as the Boss is far enough way from the Guardians, he will not get the immune buff.

I must be cursed or just suck.

We wiped several times on this boss, simply because when the Guardian comes, all the swarmers jump on me, the healer, and I get minced.

Not sure if DPS wasn't taking them out fast enough or if I just had too much aggro.

I was hoping that was the reason.

Unfortunately, as a shaman I'm quite limited on dumping threat quickly. Even with the new shock spell addition (which is great but only affects one target).

Only thing I could do is throw down a stoneclaw totem or earth elemental before the guardian comes out, or just stop healing and hope for the best.

To get the achievement clear all the mobs first then have a rogue pull the boss and sprint to the beginning of the entrance where the rest of the group is waiting no guardians will come and you should be able to kill the boss pretty easily.

As of the most recent patch (3.0.3.8 or something like that), Elder Nadox instantly enrages when dragged outside of his room. He can hit for upwards of 31k instantly, killing your tank or whoever else is kiting him. Better find a new tactic to get that achievement, eh?

As of 3.08, pulling this boss too far from his room will cause an enrage effect (heroic at least), increaseing damage by 500% and attack speed by 150-200%... dont remember casue I died so fast. Can no longer be kited away from his adds.

This guy is a pretty straightforward fight, but you must be on your toes.

Phase 1) He uses his DoT attack, summons easy mobs, and uses physical damage. Keep DPSing him down as fast as you can.

Phase 2) He will summon a Guardian, and the game will warn you. ALL PLAYERS except the healer(s) MUST attack the guardian, as the boss is invurnerable while it lives. There will also be a number of swarmers, but they aren't a major hassle. Once the guardian is dead, he will revert to phase 1 and continue.

Be ready to kill the guardian at all times. This guys attacks themselves really aren't that threatening, so if it's easier for you to kill him over a longer time, it's possible (but you'll have more guardians to deal with)

I'm not quite sure. Is this an ENRAGE effect, or a FRENZY effect? If it's an enrage effect, hunters might be able to use tranquilizing shot and rogues could use Anesthetic Poison to get rid of it. If that is the case, i'd rather go with a hunter over a rogue, as the hunter has a 100% chance of removing it, verse the rogue's 50% chance of removing it. Furthermore, the rogue has to do some damage to it, thus, risks the boss turning around and one shotting the rogue, while the hunter can remove it without doing any damage to it. Even if tranquilizing shot does generate some aggro, it should be small enough that a lvl 80 priest could pull aggro by meleeing the boss just once.

Guardians can be kited outside the room, once they are outside of the bosses range, you can continue dpsing him til the next guardian is out

Ok me and my son just 2 manned this. 85 Tank Pally and 85 Afflic lock.

1st off Tank moves boss from spot hes at and just backs into the far left corner of the room to get him furthest from entry. Lock and tank drop boss to 50%

Immune Phase

Lock using his minion (Voidwalker) which has a nice health pool taunts guardian with his torment out of the room and moves him to the 100+ yd range which gives boss his immunity. Once boss' sheild drops the guradian gets an immediate speed boost to run back to boss. Regardless of aggro from lock or minion. This needs to be immediately CC'd

While sheild is down tank can finish off the remaining health. At some point during our encounter the bosses shield came back with like 24k health left....I thought we were doomed. We thought another guardian came out, and after looking around we didnt see one, and I noticed that I had moved boss a little from back wall and and returned him to it and his immunity fell back off and I finished him off.

Tank has to use his dmg reduction spells effectively and timelty....I burnd Divine Prot......Ardent Defender, Guardian of the Kings, and LOH during this encounter and a couple ofWord of Glory heals at 3 charges.

Soloed him as a 75 Prot pally, just cleanse the disease, as it ticks for around 1000 without resistances, The only tough part for me is his 50% phase where i was taking lots of damage.Not really hard after that, the fight took 3 minutes and 10 seconds

Just a heads up that if you do not kill the guardian(s), the little bugs continue to swarm and seem to have shields. Everything I tried hitting them with showed up as Immune. Tried again and once I killed the guardian, then they went down easily followed by the boss.

As A hunter I found an easy way to solo this bosses achievement. What you need to do is attack the boss and pull him to the area you just came from. You'll run him right into the corner just to the right of the stairwell, summon your tanking pet and get him to pull aggro on boss.

When a guardian eventually spawns you simply distracting shot him and feign death before he attacks your pet, this will cause him to despawn, after this you burn the boss and the achievement is yours.

Soloed him today, and I wiped. Considering I'm a lvl 85 Prot Pally, with 162k health, and an ilvl of 371, it kinda surprised me...

The most important thing in this fight is to kill the Guardian as soon as he summons it. I didn't know that, and I just went hitting on the boss and AoEing the crap out of everything. But since the Guardian shields everything except himself, I got overwhelmed. I had no clue what was going on, and I died in surprise. Luckily, Wowhead came to the rescue, and on the second try I went for the Guardian as soon as it showed his (b)ugly head. No problem this time, he went down like a sack of bug-infested potatoes.

Just shows, it's all in the mechanics!

Soloed the Achievement Respect Your Elders as a lvl85 combat Rogue ilvl 376 (Arcaya on Kel Thuzad EU) today.

Pretty simple tactic, start the fight where he stands, dont focus so much on dmg, bring your Recuperate and Slice and Dice up to maximum duration. Using Combat Readiness at this Stage helps keeping your HP close to max.
Since I currently wear a bow, i used Blade Flurry to get rid of the small adds quickly. The whole thing gets real when the Guardian (The guy who gives Nadox his cheap Pally - Lookalike - Bubble) hatches. Wait until he is as close as possible, and DO NOT strike him.
When he is close enough, use Blind on him, and kite Nadox, and any remaining small Adds out to the room from where you came (Preferably you should have killed everything there is beforehand)
DO NOT Kite Nadox to the Stair leading up, he will enrage as soon as he gets there, and most likely two shot you, before you even have a chance to reach out for vanish. He should be out of the guardians shield range before you reach the stairs however, at which point you fire up every DPS Cooldown Blizzard gave us, and burn him down.

Ding, Achievement soloed.

He calls a number of adds; one of which is a guardian. He and the other adds are immune to all attacks until the guardian is killed.

The plague disease ticks for some pretty good damage.

Elder Nadox mustn't be pulled more than 100 yards away from the room. He will otherwise go into berserker rage, killing the group quickly.

At 50%, Nadox will summon an Ahn'kahar Guardian which renders all nearby swarmers and Nadox himself immune to damage. He must be immediately killed to have the passive damage immunity removed.
