The Alonsus Chapel is located at undead part of Startholme, it's a chapel like building right after first gate. Get your party inside and let paladin burn the house down. Dude inside will agro, kill him. After this some other npcs will spawn outside and whine about you burning their church. After you dispose of them (only one wave) you'll have your quest completed.

Amazing how easy this is compared to alliance paladin quest (which I assume at this point is pretty much same as shamans skyfury helmet quest).

Yes, this quest is a lot easier compared to the Alliance Paladin mount quest, which to me is a shame, it was hell for me to get mine on alliance, hehe. But I'm sure the same is true for Alliance Shaman quest, so it balances in the end.

did this yester day. the holy flame your supposed to put out is located in the first small building on your right when you enter the undead part of stratholme from eastern plaguelands (requires a rogue with 300 lockpicking or "key to the city" dropped from one of the bosses in stratholme)

whe you put out the flame the paladin inside gets really mad and attacks. just kill him hes an easy one... exit the building and youll se his guards come riding in on horses, 6 of them not a hard fight when you have lvl 70 helpers when they are dead the quest is finished.

my group setup was me pala lvl 60 mage lvl 60 mage lvl 70 rogue lvl 70.

and a final word : i do have a warlock lvl 60 wich i did the warlock epicmount event in dire maul and this bloodelf paladin mount quest was much easier. i havent tried the alliance paladin quest yet so dont have any refference there but his was indeed an easy enough quest and not to expensive. i guess giver or take a little i spent about g and that includes most of the components you need to collect.

this doesnt reflect the actual cost since this will vary from server to server and time to time all based on trend and access/availability.

the most expensive for me was the azerothian diamond which goes for around 12g each on my server but the the lack of these on AH forced me to buy thorium instead which is priced at 28g for 20 atm and i had to prospect 30 thorium ore before i got it. which means i paid almost 4x the normal going rate for a azerothian diamond.

My suggestion to those Paladins working towards having their epic mount right when they hit 60 is to work on getting these materials early. I'm 58 and I've had all the gold and materials saved up since about level 52. I was fortunate to have a 300+ miner alt that I kept in Winterfall village and just logged on to every once in a while to grab a free Rich Thorium. Got two Azerothian Diamonds and about 15 Arcane Crystals (among other things, including enough Thorium to have 300 Blacksmithing by 56). After checking the AH for weeks, I got a Pristine Black Diamond for 65s. Found 5 dark runes up for 2.5g one morning and grabbed those immediately. Bought the sungrass individually over the course of two weeks off the AH for about 15s a piece (some people just don't know what things are worth to others), and the runecloth... well, I have 300 first aid and over 200 runecloth on my Paladin just from grinding. Just check the AH and rely on the stupidity/ignorance of others. You'll get what you need pretty easily.
Another snippet of advice: Make friends with a 275+ Alchemist, and just give them your thorium/arcane crystals. A good friend of mine was leveling a druid with me, and he was an herbalist/alchemist. Took care of all my transmutes.

Overall, this looks like the easiest "epic" quest chain ever, though I haven't done it yet. But saving up enough money (especially without having to pay for a mount at 40) has been very easy, and I'll have my epic mount and about 3/4 of my flying mount at 60. I just solo'd this as a 70 Holy/Protection Paladin. Before attempting it I made sure to get the buff from the Northern tower (+5% HP), but it wouldn't have made a big difference. I just made sure to Flash of Light often and keep myself topped while slowly DPSing one target down at a time. I used one Super Mana Potion and that's it. Use your Arcane Torrent/HoJ to interrupt healing when necessary, but I didn't notice them trying to heal themselves too often.

I just finished this quest... and I have to say, I loved the story. Great work on Blizzard's part. I love the whole "evil paladin" feel.

Anyhow, I did this with a group of mostly 60s and a 58 and 59. With two warlocks in the group at level 60 and 59, we just AoE'd the mobs down. I'm a protection pally, so holding the group aggro was a snap and we were done in about 25 seconds.

Quest tips.

If you take the front intrance to Stratholme, go to the right to times after each other, an a chapel (church) will appear in front of you, kill the man inside, and set the chapel on fire, 5 sec after a wave of paladins on horse waits outside, kill them and quest is completed ! Good luck

BTW, those looking for dark runes, they drop off of basically any demon 50+, you could even farm the demons in Felwood for them, as that's where I have gotten a couple myself. Not hard at all, considering those demons are only level 50.

Just finished this at 63 (holy) with 70 warlock. Kills and the rest were easy, but an important tip - make sure to fight the first Paladin inside the church, if you fight him outside the other 5 run up and despawn as 'the chapel has been defended'.

I did the same like hibiscusman.I am now lvl 42 and i already have the Azerothian Diamond ( free from a friend ), Sungrass (5g from a friend ) and Pristine Black Diamond ( 10g on AH). If u got a warlock like me and compare the 2 quests, you can tell that the Paladin 1 is much cheaper and easier.

Runecloth drops lots at lvl 50 so i don't need to break my head for that and Arcanite Bars i can get from a friend when i provide the mats.

GL, Hordelegend, 42 pally on Draenor-EU.

Theres a chruch type thing normally behide Magistrate Barthilas
but theres a table to the top left corner of the chruch that u click on
and then the guy standing next to you will start attacking you then after
he dies 4 or 5 really weak horse men come up and start attacking

one thing that noone mentioned and would only matter with a few select ppl is that THERE ARE 2 GATES that ya need to get thru... this isnt a big deal if ya have a key or rogue.... BUT my pally is a engineer and was using seaforium charges to get thru.... i only took 1 bomb and it sucked... try the suicide thing to res on other side but when ya enter instance it auto resses ya so .. moral of story is if ya usin seaforium charges to get by the gates bring two or else you will be kikin ya self in the arse!!!

Heh you do not need the key to the city to enter. The key to the city is used to enter through the back door, for a quick Baron run, since it shortens the time you need to actually reach the last boss. You dont need a key to enter through the main gate.

A little clarification. Once you zone in there are 2 sets of "double gates" that you will have to move through. Once you move out from zone in the first set is down on the right at the first intersection, Both gates in the "set" are locked, they are not trapped, once unlocked they stay unlocked but will auto close, anyone can right click to reopen at that point.

Once through that "set" down a ways on your right is another "set" of double gates(these are open), no traps, once you clear down to these gates simply walk through. The Chapel is just ahead of you on the right. There was a named up front when we did it, fairly easy kill for a 70 rogue and me a 60 pally.

Once inside the chapel its pretty anti-climatic from there, you douse the flame, the pally inside attacks (easy kill), the 6 pallies outside show up, again extremely easy kills. Rogue never went below 95% health and all dead in less than a minute from start of the event. The toughest part is clearing down and thats a breeze if you take your time and don't get carried away.

I was a little confused at first because I never ran many 60 instances. The best entrance to use is the Service Entrance that is marked by the cave southeast of the huge Stratholme writing on the map in the Eastern Plaguelands. You need the key to the city or a rogue to use this entrance, however. It was green to my 375 lockpicking rogue.

Upon entering, open the gate immediately inside the instance, kill the first group of mobs, and you're ready to roll for the quest because the chapel is right next past the mobs you just killed on the right. It's a big stone building that looks like..well, a chapel. Go in, use the stuff, kill the dude, then five elites spawn. Kill them and you're set like jet. Had no trouble at all with a 62 ret pally and 70 mutilate rogue.

This is a purely informative post for freshly dinged 60 paladins with a 70 buddy that hope to pull off the Stratholme boss by themselves.

I have a level 70 feral druid (S1/S2 gear) and just succesfully helped my 60 retri paladin partner with getting his charger. The paladin mostly just stood and watched because he had just switched to a new weapon and had to train his swords so he couldn't hit a thing. :P I handled the groups of skeletons by going cat and taking the non-elites out first. You can use bear form if you want to be safe but I didn't really find it that necessary. Once the paladin started the event, the first boss (he's alone) is a total pushover. After that, the 6 paladins spawned, but I was fine taking them out one by one in bear form. I believe one of them healed (possibly more, can't say for sure), so try to watch out for that. I never really came close to having to heal.

I believe most decently geared melee classes can pull this off just fine (especially if the paladin actually contributes). Casters may have a problem with handling the 6 adds, so you may want to bring a tank in that case.

I strongly recommend going with someone that has the Key to the City so you can enter through the back entrance. The paladin's quest boss is right at the start of the back entrance. If your 70 buddy doesn't have the key, suggest them to go grab it from Magistrate Barthilas ( https://www.wowhead.com/cata/npc=10435 ). He'll be spawned in the same area as the paladin's quest boss if you enter Stratholme with a party that does not have the Key to the City. Your 70 buddy should be able to dodge most if not all mobs on the way. When your 70 buddy has killed Magistrate Barthilas and looted the key, he can use it to open the gate on the right side of the chapel and leave the instance. He then should be able to open the gates that are keeping you from entering Stratholme via the back entrance. Congrats!

Just did this quest with a lvl 70 Schaman and a Lvl 60 heal schammy.

Pretty easy its doable with 1 70 schammy, just make sure he puts up the earth elemental and if he is any good hell make sushi out of the 6 adds that come running.

So just a note since the information was unclear here, you first fight the npc there who gives the quest inside the building he is a 60 elite paladin.

After killing him or maybe after a short time since the first guy went down fast, 1 wave of 4 level 60 elite paladin npcs spawn, based off the names i would assume they represent the 3 talents of paladins and a leader.

All in all very easy compared with the warlock epic mount quest fight but in my opinion not as fun

Did this at level 60 (Ret spec) with a 70 Warrior (Fury) and 70 Paladin (Holy)
To be honest, it was overkill. The 70 Warrior could have solo'd it.

You enter UD Stratholme through the gate (Requires Key to the City) or a Rogue to lockpick.
Enter that way, it saves a bunch of time. If you don't have the Key or a Rogue to pick, you need to enter through the main Stratholme entrance, and fight your way toward the Undead side.

If you enter through the backdoor gate (with the Key to the City), you only have to kill 1 group of elites. The first building you see is the Chapel.

Run in, use the extingushing mixture on the flame. The Paladin in the room will aggro YOU. If you are squishy, use Hammer of Justice to stun him until your tank (or 70s) can get him. He goes down fast.

After he dies, FOUR (not six) but FOUR elites will run in the Chapel. We killed them fast with AOEs. Holy Wrath and Concecrate works wonders. Make sure you are ready with the Hammer of Justice, Repetance, Arcane Torrent, Counterspells, Spell Locks, etc. They try to heal right before they are killed.

All in all, this took about 5 minutes to complete. It was extremely easier than people on Wowhead make it sound. Spend 10 minutes asking nicely in trade chat for a couple 70s to help you. Most likely you will get at least 1 70 Paladin offering, as they know what it's like to need help with it.

Recently helped a Paladin do this. As a Rogue who turned 70 only fairly recently, I was able to do it with some help of him healing, though I did use every cooldown I had. Didn't have much of a problem, but every cooldown was used.

Reading many of the posts here, I decided the best thing is to get a lvl 70 rogue to help me (although anyone with a backdoor key will do). After advertising for about 20 minutes in the trade channel I was able to get someone to help, you must make sure to mention that it is a short quest that doesn't take more than 15 minutes (at most). You could offer a tip as an incentive (whatever your budget allows and what you'd think a lv 70 on your server would do for 15 minutes of their time).

A solid group of 3-4 60's should also be able to do it.

Both me and the rogue didn't have any epic gear, and I am a lv 63 prot pally.

Go to tloc: 47,23 in the Eastern Plaguelands and enter via the side entrance. As mentioned you'll only need to fight one elite group of undead. Don't be unprepared, this may be a little tricky if you don't take care.

Then go into the building right behind this group, use the quest item on the flame, the guy inside will aggro. He's very easy to kill, but make sure that you are full of both health/mana before leaving the building (I'd suggest what the one poster mentioned to use "Hammer of Justice" and then let your higher level partner do the rest. Once outside four pally's will unmount and charge. This is the tricky part, for my strategy it was to get them all hitting me while the rogue took them out. Hence, use seal of light, and both Consecration and Holy Wrath . Use any healing potions and don't forget you can make use of "lay on hands" if it gets tricky in the very end a long with healing potions.

After you kill the 4 elite pallys, return to Silvermoon to get your charger/tabard.

hmm... is this quest going to stay the same? After Lady Liadrin "sees the light" with A'dal and gives up loyalty to Kael'thas and joins A'dal. It would seem strange that she goes around burning down churches.

And now that Blizzard have started to make the game progress through patches having questlines radically changed shouldn't be a problem.

Just finished...got a lvl70 rogue who was farming strat to help me. From the time we went in the back door (called the service entrance for those of you who didn't play pre-BC) it took max 10 minutes. One pull, then into the chapel. It's the first building on your right when you come through the back way. If I was doing it again, probably 5 minutes total. It's so easy......make sure you let whoever you put the bite on to help you know how easy it is......provided you have a back door key.

With me healing, the rogue had absoutely no problem with the first pally, and with the second wave. The second wave was a bit harder than the first dude. I think this guy was pretty well geared, but I'm sure any lvl70 melee and 1 pally to heal could do it.

I offered him 25g to help me....he might have done it for free but I thought it was appropriate. So easy. IMHO the hardest part of this chain for a ret spec was soloing the part in Tyre's hand. Anyways, the effort on the Horde side is minimal. It is more cost effective. But most importantly, that dam riding chicken is the dorkiest mount in the game. And, it's kind of a measure of accomplishment to have the pally or warlock epic mount. By far they are two of the coolest riding mounts in the game.

Oh, I'm sure we could have done it in 20 min or less going in the front door, because it's 7 pulls or so as I recollect, plus you have to dispatch pats and watch out for the eyes. Net net, easy peazy.

Well, despite what's posted, this wasn't as easy as it sounded. Attempted to do this last part of the chain as lvl 60 ret spec'ed Pally along with a lvl 70 Rogue that had above average equipment (rare PVP gear and some season 1 arena gear thrown in).

Followed the instructions and went to the locked gate, rogue got us in no problem. Got to the second gate which you don't need a key for. Followed rogue through this next gate to the first mob location. After rogue had started melee, as soon as I attempted to heal him, entire mob aggro'ed on me. Dead. After several tries (and deaths), we learned that the rogue needed to take down about half the mob before I could heal.

Using that knowledge, we were able to get in the Chapel. Single pally was easy. Next, six (not four) elite pally's showed up to defend the chapel. Once again, as soon as I attempted to heal the rogue, all of them aggro'ed to me. Needless to say, after 3 or 4 times of this, we got another level 70 toon (lock) to help.

With 3 of us, it took the 5 minutes. If you don't want to get frustrated, definitely bring at least 2 others to help with this quest.

Once completed, turned quest in for 14300 xp.

Just did this with a 61 prot pally (i did heal a bit) and 2 60 rogues. Just like Lokth said above, open service gate (one of the rogues did it). opened second gate. Killed 8 mobs (3 leet 5 reg) and chapel was right there. Easy. After u burn the chapel first mob went down easy. The other 6 (it was six for us) took a little healing from me. It was close @ the end, we were all down under half health by the end of the fight, and i was out of mana. Hope this helps.

Did this as a level 60 holy pally with my 60 prot pally friend. Solo'ed it for the key on my 70 hunter and then unlocked and killed the first little group of skellies right inside the service entrance. Got on my pally, we did the quest in the chapel. Was fairly difficult, repentance was a pain when I was trying to keep my friend up. Had to pot once and use some cooldowns (and I think he may have used Lay on Hands, not sure), but we finished after bout 5 minutes fighting them. :P

We were in Outlands questing gear with a few blues left from high level Azeroth instances. Definately duo'able, but probably would have been a cakewalk with a 70 there. It was much more satisfying to duo it, though. :)

Two-manned this quest(and the skeleton pull) as level 60 PvP spec'd holy pally with level 60 subtle rogue.

The key is, try tank as the healer. In the first pull, I told the rogue to try pull the mobs off me, which disrupted her combo points too much and eventually the pull ended in a wipe. Then I tried to activate Righteous Fury and tank as the healer. The pull worked out well after we took down the Berserkers(they interrupt spells), since my heals don't lose casting time when I'm attacked.

I extinguished the flame and quickly we killed off the NPC who turned hostile. She was able to restealth before the -FIVE- NPCs charged in and started bashing on me. I used the PvP trinket to get out of stun and started throwing Holy Light on myself.(more mana efficient)

Our Kill Order was:
Gregor the Justiciar - This guy Stuns and has Holy Shock(instant heal/damage). It took us awhile taking him down, since his health is often healed to full by "Vicar Hieronymus" whenever it drops low. Eventually we managed to stun him and use Blood Elf racial to AoE silence all pallies for a total of 4 seconds and burnt him down. Half of my mana was used on this pally.
Vicar Hieronymus - The primary healer. Easily taken down by the rogue with all her stuns and kicks.
Aelmar the Vanquisher - The retardin. Easily taken down with no heals on him.
Nemas the Arbiter - A pally that casts Repentance. He shouldn't be a problem at all before Aelmar dies.(who casts Consecration that breaks Repentance) Easily taken down.
Cathela the Seeker - Tankadin. We chatted and cheered for a little while before we finally noticed her and killed her off... took a bit while.

I used a total of two superior mana potions, and things could have been easier I think if I was working with a dps warrior, mage or lock.

The key is - Tank as the Healer. You're in plate for god's sake!

Done this today as lvl 60 Prot Pala and dual logged my brothers 70 Lock. Since I didn't have the key I had to take the front entrance. After killing all the mobs with SoC and dieing 3 times (because i pulled to many :p) I got to the quest room. The guy in the room isn't hard at all. He hitted cloth for like 200 and died in a few secs.

Afterwards I got 5 Elites coming and since they all went for my pala I just bubbled and could cast SoC on all of them while they were bashing on my Shield. ^^

Though I wouldn't recommend to do it this way but I like to share to others that it can be done.

If you don't have the Key to the City then all you have to do is Divine Intervention someone while standing next to the gate, run back and rez inside the gate, use the lever to open it and viola.
Just did this with my friend's 70 hunter, took just under 10minutes.

Very easy quest.

pretty simple got a couple guildies who were bored to help me with it, had my rogue open back gate they ran in, i switched toons, they open gate they clear area i run into chapel, 60 leet starts attacking, we macked on him for about 20 seconds and he went down. 6 people come running in after some bitching and complaining about burning down their chapel killed em quick enough with a 70 lock, mage and priest helping lol. and simple as that. overall spent on quest ~350-400 gold, didnt buy anything off AH and had the professions i needed...luckily between my rogue who was mining/JC and my pali who was running Herb/Alch i was able to get the bars for free basically, the 150g "donation", 135g for the powder and 45 for the catalyst...and a few runs through BFD totalling about 50-60 gold lol. so overall cheaper but harder to obtain than the regular players mount.

Buying(or the money you miss in AH if you farm everything) all the junk for all these quests costs about the same as buying riding skill from vendor. So basically the only price break you get is the 85g for the mount itself by doing the summon charger quests.

The only reason I did them is I wasn't exalted with anyone else yet and I didn't want a gay pea!@#$ mount.

Just did the quest with a 60 holy priest and me, a 60 prot pala.

Since we didn't have a rogue or the key, we took the long way round through the main entrance.

The hardest parts were the patchwork horror patrols, since they have a tendency to sneak up on you while fighting the other mobs, and have a lot of health and go straight for the healer after their knockback.

The fight with the Magistrate was also really close, but we made it.

The fight with the paladins in the chapel was no problem at all, plenty of mana and health left at the end.

Both of us were in mostly Outland greens. It took probably around an hour.

Make sure you kill Aullius or whatever his name is BEFORE YOU LEAVE the church. The paladin I did it with said the mob was to be pulled outside and killed last, but the 3 times we tried that it resulted in the mounted mobs despawning and us having to reset the instance.

Kill him inside the church then the paladins will run in. Follow the kill order posted above. they will heal eachother ruthlessly and it can get annoying, but with a 70 it's no trouble.

I just did this questline (2 September 2008), and if you're looking to save money over the hawk mount like I was, don't do this line! I spent about 120 more gold on the mats than I would have if I'd just bought the skill and epic mount. One of the biggest differences was the rarity of the Pristine Black Diamond. Since it doesn't drop off anything most players in post-BC farm, it's pretty hard to come by. Got it cheap at 80g. Not worth the time, money, and pain in my opinion.

(If you don't have the key, you'll get it outside the church before you burn it down, easy boss, knocks back, killed with over 50% mana left.)

Spent somewhere around 600 gold on all the quests together, that with a free Pristine Black Diamond.

Level 70 Holy Paladin, ran in, killed off a few packs on the way when I ran in Stratholme, gear was 4 Brutal 4 T6, easy as a piece of pie. Burnt the place to the ground, slaughtered the ghostly Paladins in my way and Divine Shield-Hearthstoned back to safety in Silvermoon city afterwards. Got my mount, got my tabard, spent ~3 hours all together, counting some arena playing in the middle of it all.

CONCLUSION:

Very easy quest, if you are level 70, soloable.
Worth it? Depends on Ah prices and server, but a nice mount it is, gotta catch 'em all!

i helped a level 60 paly friend do this quest as a destro warlock summoned my voidwalker and spammed sbolt as fast as i could. before they killed my voidwalker hellfire on the backdoor as i dont have the key. and again it's all on fast killing before they take down your voidwalker if you are not going to make it run out or try healing your voidwalker by no means try AOE.

I just soloed this one with my lvl 64 retri paladin, wearing greenies (6k HP, 4,5K MP, 5,5K armor, 904 AP, 20% crit). I didn't have the back door key so I had to clear the -quite long- way, which wasn't really difficult but required attention. In the way I also killed the mayor to get the key, when his HP dropped a bit and he enraged I had to bubble and heal -that's the only point where I was actually close to dying.

The quest fight was really easy, about the same difficulty as a trash group.

PS. Before the 3.0 patch, of course, I very doubt soloing with the same gear would be possible.

if you dont go from the back door, and get in from normal entrance, turn right, have a rogue that will open that door and stay right soon you will find the building for this quest, inside the building there is a npc with a blue questionmark, this is where you have to be

use quest item kill npc that was with blue questionmark, after u go out kill a group of mobs that spawn

SOLOed it with my level 67 Holy paladin, didn't have the key so had to do the long way ... it was pretty hard, but I didn't use my bubble or LoH.
Hardest part was the Magistrate, the longer the fight, the more strong he hits, so I had to heal all the time.
Gear was nothing special, outland greens and 1-2 blues. It took about 30 minutes.

With the coming of the 3.0.3 patch, Paladins can learn the Charger spell from the Paladin trainer without doing the quest line. Would anybody know if this quest is still available in the PTR? There doesn't seem to be another way to get the Blood Knight Tabbard

Also what is the lowest level that a Paladin can solo this quest at?

I just did the quest in 3.0.2 with my level 60 prot pally and was able to solo it. I was wearing the first 4-5 greens from Outland and various greens and blues from the 40s and 50s. Make sure to have Hammer of the Righteous (the 51 point Protection talent), as it helps DPS greatly.

I had to go the long way to the chapel (no sweat for a 60 prot pally), and the Magistrate was there. He is the hardest fight of the quest (if he's there). I had to fight him about 4 times before beating him (make sure to use cooldowns and pots wisely).

The actual quest guys - the paladin in the chapel, and the 4 spawned paladins are very easy for a prot pally, even if they get a few heals off.

I also found out that if you light the chapel and spawn everyone, but die before killing them, you have to reset the instance in order to start the event again, as the Eternal Flame will be gone when you respawn (as well as the mobs). Thankfully I had killed the Magistrate by then and got the Key to the City.

Just did this with my 60 pala, i have 2 accounts, so it was really easy. But not everyone can do it the way I did.. Put my pala on follow on my 70 shaman elemental and used a macro to target him and cast flash of light. Went in the service entrance and went out again after about 5 minutes. Chain lightning and lightning bolt was more than enough to take down most of the mobs. Used Greater Earth Elemental totem on first pull, and walked straight in to the chapel. May not be helpful to most players, but it was easier than expected.

All in all, a pain in the butt questline (what with all the running around and such), but the reward can be quite worth it. Depending on how much you pay on the AH for all your quest items and such. I didn't even bother keeping track of that particular aspect of it for two reasons: a mixture of heartache and indifference, since the QD dailies and such keep my coffers relatively happily lined.

In the end, the most difficult part proved to be just finding out where the Tyr's Hand Holy Water was. And it's at coords 77.96, 71.01 (as of patch 3.0). Those are the exact coords I had via TomTom standing right in the bowl within that building that was constantly referred to as either the "Tyr's And Abbey" (which of course, it is) or "that one building". Beyond that, it was quite simple.

...Excluding the fact that without a key or someone who has a key/lockpicking high enough, you're not gonna get into the right part of Stratholme without a serious fight. My 70 Mage who's completely decked out in epics (albeit nothing beyond Zul'Aman) got overwhelmed a couple times, particularly by the dude who drops the Key to the City.

But now, I'm one key richer, and sitting pretty atop one of the hottest mounts in the game.

This wasen't that easy for a lvl 62 holy paladin, i kill the first guy that stand there when you come in to the church but then the other mobs comes in. like 5 elites they just come and trying to kill me and when i'm on my way to do ''Lay on Hands'' then someone does ''Hammer of justice'' So not so easy for me :D

Just soloed this on my level 61 pally. No Outland gear. Heirloom weapon/shoulders, Truesilver chest and gloves, and the rest greens and some blue ST/Mara drops.

Sealing and Judging Justice turned out to be useful for interrupting spellcasting when HoJ was on cooldown. Mechanical yeti from Winterspring quest actually was useful in the last room to hold aggro on one of the mobs.

Sungrass, (if you decide to buy it)Darkrune), and pristine black diamond, i spent 200g+ time to do this quest...

Ok, well i SHOULD have checked this quest out before i handed in all the mats for A gesture of commitement, but i didnt and this failed misurably, I dont know how it is on your server but on Frostmane it was expensive, Anyways If you calculate the time it takes to do all this+the mats Most people are in outlands so gold is coming quick, Spending 550g to get the regular 100% mount is FAR FAR FAR more quick, in the long run you save a lot more money i spent:

Runecloth : Free(looted)
Arcanite bar: 16gx6 96g
Sun grass: 10 , for 25g
Darkrune: Ridiculous price of 60g

Total: 186 + 150 = 336g, just on the 1st quest (most people would farm the dark rune)
so about 276g,

4th quest(True master's of light, 2nd part)(this one really hurts)

Arcane catalyst : 50g(Im horde so can be bought in Silvermoon
Crepuscular power:150g(Bought in silvermoon also)
Azerothian diamond: 26g
Pristine black diamond: Whopping 150g

(I spent 722g)(i bought the dark runes)
Total : 376g!
Subtotal: 662g! + the time spent on doing ALL the suckin' quests(this is without
buying the darkrunes) So i suggest bfor doing this quest, check the AH and if the mats are cheap before doing this quest!

If you take the quest and bring all the items to the questgiver, the 'continue' button will appear grey.

I didnt know about it after i did the mistake buying all mats for it. Don't do the same.

If you're like me and enjoy trying to bite off more than you can chew, be aware that although you can suicide and ghost-run through the outside door of the back entrance, the inner gate requires the key as well. :-/

Do a /who Stratholme and see if there are any nearby helpers. I was lucky enough to find two hunters trying to get the Baron's mount, and they helped!

And yes, I consciously chose to finish the quest and get the Feat of Strength and spend the 300+ gold instead of getting it for cheap in 3.2 Real paladins have Feats of Strength, baby!

Just soloed this as a lvl 60 ret paladin with 2 heirloom pieces, 4.6k hp 2.3k mana, it was a little frustrating, but if you have the skill it is completely doable without having the key. You just have to be smart with your pulls and be able to take down the 2 bosses you run into.

This quest is a joke! Spent about 450g as has been mentioned so far,,,, then i had 1 item left to buy. Pristine black diamond....went to AH and the were only 2 on. 1 was 950g the other 800g! totally outrageous! As it happens I got lucky and was actually given 1 for free by another paladin who had a similar experience and took pity on me. he even ran me through stratholme and scholomance before that. Blizzard should be shot for leaving a quest like this in the hands of others and the AH!

INTERESTING NOTE: If you are 70 or so and suddenly want to do this quest chain, EXPERIENCE DOES SCALE WITH IT! Whenever you're a higher level and want to do this quest, you'll be gaining a very nice batch of experience for it.

It's a fun quest chain, and you get a unique tabard for it. I think it'd be worth it.

total gold spent 180g, farmd all other mats thatwerent given to me and then had a lvl 80 prot pally run me threw strat to get last quest done easy peasy...

Hardest mat to get was the Pristine Black Diamond but i got one From ZG off Hakki Priest

Don't let anyone tell you this mount is free. You've seen the other posts that tell you the stuff you need to collect is 500-800g, which is true, depending on your server. No one goes to E. Plaguelands after BC, so finally, at level 69, I offered 30g (and then paid them 40g because I was so happy) each to a 70 rogue and 70 druid to help me. 70 rogue was to get into the back door (at 47,23 where you need 300 lockpicking), druid was to heal. Druid was geared well enough we could probably have done it without the druid, but I didn't want to chance it. I'm happy to finally have this done, but would not do it again. Next time will spend the money on a different mount (but not the chicken).

DO NOT GO IN MAIN ENTRANCE!

There is a cave at 43,20 (directly to the east of main entrance for those of you w/o coords) that takes you directly to the chapel. You only have to fight one group of mobs and you're immediately at the chapel. Much easier.

The guy in the chapel will attack you as soon as you extinguish the flame. He is an easy elite but the five elites after him don't wait. They come in at a certain time regardless of whether or not he's dead. Sooo, if you let him heal and treat it as an easy fight then you will have the five elites plus him. Basically kill him fast.

I went in as a 62 ret pally, but i switched to devotion aura and seal of light for extra healz. Also, i happened to go in the day patch 3.1 went active so i had Blessing of kings (+10% all stats) that i switched to from blessing of might. Trust me, this was necessary.

Most importantly, i targeted one of the elites as soon as they were in range and cast repentance to freeze them as soon as i could. Then i moved out of AoE range with the other four and started the war. In the end it took everything i had. I bubbled and used a heavy netherweave bandage(to save on mana), superior healing pot, Lay on Hands, and eventually i outlasted them. The key was to freeze the first guy and then kill the second real quick. This only left me 3 guys max to deal with at any given time(even when the repented guy unfroze and attacked). We're Pallies, we can own atleast 3 mobs at a time!

The easiest way to do this is to go through the back door to Stratholm.

The back door is labelled with a Mineshaft icon at 47,23 in Eastern Plaguelands, northeast of Plaguewood.

There are two gates - one outside, one inside the instance. You can die and phase through the first gate. The gate can be opened via a lever on the other side once somebody is through.
The second gate will have to be opened with the Key to the City, or with an Arcanite Key. The door stays unlocked once it's been unlocked.

The holy flame your supposed to put out is located in the first small building on your right when you enter the undead part of stratholme from eastern plaguelands (requires a rogue with 300 lockpicking or "key to the city" dropped from one of the bosses in stratholme)

whe you put out the flame the paladin inside gets really mad and attacks. just kill him hes an easy one... exit the building and youll se his guards come riding in on horses, 6 of them not a hard fight when you have lvl 70 helpers when they are dead the quest is finished.

Soloed on my 61 prot pally from main entrance to the church. Mostly groups with 3-4 elites(lvl54-57) and 4 non elites. You will also bump into a few bosses lvl 58 elite with no adds(random spawns).
Not too difficult.
Became a little dangerous though when the 5 elites charged after torching the church.

Rewards are Epic mount AND Blood Knight Tabbard.

I took a 70mage, 65 pally, 61 druid and me 60 pally thinkin it would be toughish, - OVERKILL lol.

Could be done at a minimum with perhaps 1 lvl 70, the 60 pally(quest holder) and maybe a mid60s character too.

As said above, use the torch in your inventory inside the house - then let the NPC attack you, kill him, then run outside, 5 pallies will charge at you on their mounts, when they dismount attack em. Takes 5minutes from start to finish when you enter the instance.

I tried this with a 66mage and 63shammie and we failed miserably. The nice part is that the Extinguishing Mixture has unlimited uses so if you fail, simply reset the instance get some more friends (70hunter, 70paly, 63shammie, 68hunter)and try again. I hope this helps.

Went in as a 60 Paladin with a 70 BM hunter. After I extinguished the flame the hunter killed the PH, then set AOE fire traps and proceded to melee the four guards right in the building with the help of his pet. He was not Kara geared. All I had to do was keep myself healed from the guards AOEs.

went easily with a Kara geared 70 Rogue, just he and I. Killed first guy..simple..the 5 others ran in, aggrod me, I bubbled, and healed rogue as he took aggro. Simple enough. thanks for the posts..made it easy to know what to expect

I just hit 60 last night, and between my lvl 60 training and my mount quest, I dropped 420g. Of course, I've been collecting materials for this quest line since I was around level 55, so it wasn't nearly as big of a blow as it might otherwise have been.

Also, this quest line is CAKE in comparison to the Alliance counterpart. As a Rogue on the Alliance side, I've assisted a few Paladins in their epic quest, and it was a PAIN.

Anyway...I'm just happy neither one of my Belfs have to ride a chicken. My rogue is Exalted with Orgimmar and my pally has the horse. I'm NEVER riding a chicken.

This is the church just inside the undead side entrance. As soon as you use the vial the NPC standing in there agros, after he dies 5 (i think) 60 elite guards rush in. You get quest credit after they die. Make things easy on yourself and bring some 70 friends.

Solo'd up to Barthilas (didn't have the key) as a 63 Prot but couldn't finish it alone. Duo'd the Magistrate and the actual quest with a 64 Prot with ease.

Just did this quest today. I noticed that none of the guides show how to do it in the situation that you don't have the Key to the City though. So I've written this for that purpose.

For reference, my group composition included:
* Prot Pally (myself), lvl 60 //Wearing intro Outlands equipment from the first 2 levels of HFP
* Ele Shaman, lvl 58 //Wearing entry level greens from boost
* Aff Warlock, lvl 56

Buffs I provided:

* Pally -> Righteous Fury + Sanc + SoW
* Shaman -> BoW
* Lock + Pet -> BoW for both (they used Imp)

We entered through the main gate to the city, as we did not have the key. We took this path, because again, no key to get through the draw-gates either. https://imgur.com/1m35t9a

I LoS pulled basically every pack along this path. The pillars on the buildings themselves are full structures so they can be used for LoS as well which was pretty nice. We ended up killing 3 of the green abominations (pull these to a location where you can put your back to the wall as they push you back a lot). For bosses we ended up fighting The Unforgiven, Magistrate Barthilas, and of course the swarm of Paladins that spawn when you burn the church down for the quest. I recommend standing in the corner of the church so you can continue to LoS the paladins when they rush in, and also finish off the initial paladin boss first since they'll be almost dead before the others show up. You can stand in the church without issue while its on fire.

You MUST engage Aurius inside of the Chapel to complete the encounter. If you engage him outside, the wave of adds will bug and you will not receive credit for completing the quest.

Completed the dungeon and encounter solo at 64, protection spec. Pretty solid tanking set and lots of spell power, used a few consumes and a ton of mana/healing potions. Entered the main gate and took the packs one by one. Avoided the abominations, no thanks. Magistrate is kind of a pain, but he is stunnable, and his knockback gives time to heal. He may be fearable, I did not test it. When you engage Aurius, blow him up but don't use long cooldowns, save them for the paladin crew. If you used any cooldowns on Magistrate, I recommend waiting for them to be up. The paladins are pretty basic, and their heals are not super strong. Potion early, I got two in the fight. Used shield + Lay on Hands, would have used Blessing of Protection if needed. Be wary! Some of them can use Hammer of Wrath and it is not pleasant. Stun early and often, save your Arcane Torrent to prevent heals so you can finish them off.

Duo'd as a 60 Prot Paladin (myself), and a 60 Holy Priest friend.

After you kill Aurius, you will have like 10 seconds to recover, then the 5 pallys will spawn.
Honestly, we killed Vicar first (by accident) as he died by my Consecration, then we just killed whoever was getting the lowest on health.
Disappointing how easy the fight actually was.
