this quest is absurdly difficult to pickup if you don't accept it the instant it's offered.

I'd advise doing just that.

then you can get on with dying ~

Edit: somehow, i got killed by deathwing the moment i completed the previous quest in this chain. So soon after that i assumed they were connected.

It seems now that that is perhaps not the case...
